hey what's up it's Philip let me show you how to easily create your custom terrain meshes with displacement using quickel mixer and mega scans assets if you don't have quixel mixer you have the download link in the description so let's start open quixel Mixer click new mix name it and you can choose the resolution over here you can leave these settings as it is go to layers click add a surface layer you can select your viewport local library or download assets from the online tab which are Mega assets I already downloaded the needed assets select ground and choose this Nordic Forest ground and you will see it in the layers enable or disable this placement to see how it will look uh with this placement to move around use the mouse space and ALT key okay before we start to tweak parameters let's add another surface layer add some moss and now if you click on the Moss with the height parameter you can choose how strong it is with blend radius you can make smooth transitions between those two layers now click this add liquid layer you'll get water now with threshold you can also change height just like with the height parameter play with radius surface and depth if you need to with this moist threshold you can add moist to your stones and Moss when you are done go export tab choose export location name and since this is terrain texture you can deselect this metalness texture map hit export open Unreal Engine create third person project go file and create a basic level now just drag and drop our exported texture folder into the content folder of the Unreal Engine you can see your textures here save project we need material right click create material name it open it and dock it up here hit control space to open the asset browser or drawer drag albo ambient inclusion normal and roughness map to the graph connect it as you see on the screen hit apply now we need a plane one tip if you go over here and add plane as usual this won't work you need to drag it to the project and click over here browse to the plane in the content browser create a duplicate rename it and move it to the content folder drag and drop our duplicate now and add material to the plane we don't see this placement so we need to go to the modeling tool go mesh click remesh you can keep these 5,000 triangles click accept we need to choose our displacement map for this now go to D form displace choose the texture to the map go to our mix folder and drag and drop displacement texture it's a bit strong go displacement intensity and make it five or six hit accept go back to selection mode position it and if I hit play you can see how small it is so select it and scale it by seven now it looks nice you can select it and while holding the ALT key duplicate it you can see that the texture perfectly fits itself you can hit contrl L to move the Sun and change the shadow if you want this is how you easily and quickly create your custom terrain meshes with displacement using quixel mixer and mega scans assets I hope you learned something new and useful from this video If you like this tutorial feel free to check out my other tutorials about Unreal Engine 5 and thanks for watching and bye-bye
