um.. what even IS THIS?! Testing The Watercolor Book

hey guys what's up it's right here I felt like today's video didn't really need an introduction because I mean the product speaks for itself I feel like this product that we're about to use today is probably one of the weirdest most interesting / unique water colors that I have ever used in my life these are basically notebooks and inside the notebooks is the watercolor like the paper is the watercolor like how unique is that how weird is that how interesting is that so I didn't just get one for you guys to review today I got two now the first one that we're going to be working with is the vive watercolor sheets now I'm sure you've seen this it's gone viral pretty much we will be testing out the maybe a watercolor sheep so I'm gonna be trying it the the vive color heat these are the vive color sheep and the other one that we're gonna be dealing with is the Nicholson's peerless transparent watercolor self blending notebook so yeah without further ado let's go ahead and jump right into it now I got this with Amazon for $30 for 15 colors which breaks down to $2 per watercolor sheet and the vive watercolor sheet which retails for about $20 with a 10% off coupon you get it for about one dollar and 25 cents per sheet yeah we'll just go ahead and open it like I can't wait anymore let's just open this baby whoo what is this oh it's a bookmark look at this it comes with a bookmark neat so when you open this up it comes with a little instruction thingy that says these colors belong to so-and-so you have the instructions right here and of course we have all the colors located within the sheets which I am so excited these colors are so so pretty like watch pay attention to that sheen right there oh she is beautiful maybe in 2019 I'll get a different background because this white on white thing ain't bein it sis okay guys here we go I guess I'm just gonna go straight on there you know why wait just get it's working oh yes Wow look how pigmented that is oh my goodness that is absolutely incredible and yeah the pigment is obviously gonna be much darker than the diluted version but that diluted version is rich honey so oh wow she even she even dirtied up the water immediately wow she is not playing today oh my god so yeah let's go ahead and keeps watching oh my goodness look at this color Wow that is so pretty oh my goodness I know that's all I'm saying is like wow that's so pretty but these colors are absolutely incredible okay so there's this one color that's just been confusing me since the second I got it like this color is such a trip like if you look at it it has kind of like a green tint to it but the color is violet [Music] I don't know let's see what color it is oh she's pretty oh yeah that is not green at all that is beautiful oh my gosh Wow and yet that completes the swatches okay let's check the bleeding since you know I just used it wow that's actually not that bad I was expecting there to be like a lot more watercolor on the sheet but that's actually not bad at all neat okay so next up is the Nicholson's peerless watercolor so I got this with Amazon Prime so it came in within a few days this one came all the way from I think India so it took about three weeks to come in so as soon as this one came in I was so excited I just like ripped it open immediately and the first thing that kind of disappointed me was for $30.00 this has gotta go but yeah upon further instruction whenever you open it up and you actually breathe through all the page after page after page after page after page after page of all the instructions and stuff like that it basically says that the reason why the packaging looks like this is because they're keeping it as vintage as possible so I guess it's just for like aesthetic reasons so like I said this one is a little bit more pricey it's $10 more but I mean like one individual color is like much bigger than the valve Eva water color [Music] and finally like the last benefit of this watercolor is that unlike the of Aviva watercolors you flip it around and boom you get the swatches so that's really neat whenever you are taking this on the go and you don't want to have to like go over the swatches they're already in there for you unlike the paviva watercolor this one you're actually supposed to like cut out individual pieces and then melt them into one of these slots so this one it might be just a little bit more messy [Music] that's kind of weird like the swatch looks drastically different than even when I thin it out it looks drastically different than what's behind it I don't know that's just something to be aware of if you do get this [Music] boom guys look at this color this one is a sky-blue but like the sheen on this one I don't know what's up with me I have this weird thing with like watercolor Sheen's but this one is so pretty oh yeah [Music] and yeah that concludes these swatches for this one so yeah I've only used this obviously one time which is just now and just like folding it back one time it just naturally sits like this which is gonna drive me absolutely insane that it's not gonna be flat you know the color itself the texture all of that is much more reflective of like a traditional watercolor and for me personally I like the vive Evo one more because like the swatches are just so much more fun you know this one like screams 80s dance party and to be honest I'm kind of into that now the only thing I do have to say is I wish that they would switch one of these like five Brown colors with a dark brown and I do think they should get rid of one of these green colors and put a dark green but yeah what that being said I think these both swatch absolutely incredible [Music] and yeah let's go ahead and do some artwork shall we okay so here's the drawing that I'm gonna do today I mean it is pre drawn and I do have footage of me creating it [Music] but I feel like nowadays it's not really relevant to the actual video and plus I just feel like it's not that exciting to see me Joel said outline I don't know maybe I could be wrong if you do like to see the drawing outline footage let me know now for this painting I'm gonna use both palettes because this one's really bright it gives me all the nice highlights and everything while this one on the other hand is really dark rich colors so basically I need I need both of these [Music] [Applause] [Music] so just one thing that drove me absolutely nuts was the fact that the vive IVA did have a black while excuse me the Nicholson did not have a black with watercolor you can dilute a black into the lightest gray but it's not vice versa with a light gray to a black you just can't add more pigment to it so I think it's really important that it doesn't have a black and the last thing that just kind of drove me nuts was not having anywhere to mix the watercolor like don't get me wrong the vive IVA sheet did come with a piece of cardboard that you can like mix on but I mean that pretty much defeats the whole purpose in my opinion because you're gonna end up needing a palette anyway if you want to mix the colors so it can be a little bit impractical if you're taking this on the go and there we have it ladies and gentlemen if I had to pick between these two which one I wanted to keep I definitely would say the Veuve IVA is the crowning winner here even though you get less color you do get such a fun vibrant palette I like the way these blend more I like the way they perform more I like the price better I like the layout better and just all-around I think this one in my personal opinion is the better deal but I mean when it comes down to it this one is just a little bit too impractical for me you know if it had more of a divider I'd be cool with it and for this one you know the color was a little bit more hard to get out of the paper and just like all around like I just personally like the Reviva one much better anyway guys so if
