Cheap AND Ultralight Gear! Solo Wild Camp with the Lanshan 1 Pro | 3F UL Tyvek Bivi | AliExpress mat

can wild camping gear be ultra light and ultra cheap so i'm out for another camp with some new ultralight gear to try out i've got the lanchan one pro tent that you'll have seen in a previous video where i did the seam sealing and a few mods on it i've got a new tyvek waterproof sleeping bag cover from 3ful because i think we are going to get some condensation in that tent i've got an ultralight sleep mat as well from aliexpress and a foil insulation mat to go underneath it if i need it base weight for this one was 6.4 kilos i've got the kedian rucksack again to try it out a bit more i've packed the back of it slightly differently i put a normal sleep mat right at the bottom with my sponge cloth folded into it and then my novice wild camper table behind it to hopefully give me a bit of back support so we'll see how that goes i'm just going to do another two or three miles burn off a few hob knobs and then when i get set up i'll let you have a look just had to put my decathlon i think it's a quechua or something like that waterproof one as well because it just started raining but it'll be a good test to see if my seam ceilings worked so that's the tent set up first thing i'm going to do is put one of these insulated foil mats in there so this is from aliexpress 75 by 200 centimeters so it should be just big enough to go underneath my sleep mat and hopefully cover most of the floor in here it will add a little bit of insulation but it will give some protection to the mat as well with all the twigs and all chestnut carcasses on the floor and stuff i've cleared it as much as i can but you can never be too careful so i'll put that in first and then this is the ultralight mat that i've got again from aliexpress this way just 420 grams it's available in eight sizes so they do small to extra large in standard or wide i went for the large standard um but you might want to size up on 511 and the large is just big enough for me i wish i'd gone for the extra large i think it's made from a 20d nylon so again another reason for putting the foil mat underneath i've pumped it up at home and left it overnight just to make sure it didn't leak and it seemed fine so should be all right i'll just show you it inflated before i put it in the tent you'll see it's thicker at the head end for a bit of pillow so i've only bought my trichology pillow rather than the two pillows that i normally bring because it's a bit raised anyway and then on the main bit of the mattress it's probably about six seven centimeters thick and then this is that tyvek sleeping bag cover so the tent's a single skin tent i'm expecting some condensation so rather than ruin a sleeping bag i thought i'd try one of these and it feels like it's made out of some really kind of thick tissue material a bit like those puffy pads that you can get it's quite weird or a bandage or something like that this weighs 200 grams so again quite lightweight and i was going to bring my down sleeping bag which is why i wanted this because i was expecting it to be a lot colder than it is it's only going to drop to 10 degrees tonight so i've just bought my cheap amazon sleeping bag so i didn't really need this but i want to try it out and see if it stops any water getting on my back it's got a zip that goes halfway down the front as well to hopefully make it a bit easier in and out and then a draw string around the head bit and then yeah i bought this five money cheap sleeping bag again you can't buy these anymore but licks harder do the same ones with their brand on these are just over 20 quid from amazon as well right i'm in come have a look so the body bag or baby bag whatever you want to call it was big enough to put my sleep mat inside as well so i've done that i've got the mat in there sleeping bag and then the trichology pillow with the buff on it on the top so that should keep me nice and dry if there is any condensation i've got this oil mat underneath for a bit of protection from anything sharp and a bit of insulation one of the things about having a frameless pack is i can scrunch it up really small and put it down that side so that's my rucksack there those dry bags are what's that one that's my electricals that's my hygiene kit my down jacket my down boots and then some merino layers in there i've got the wooben light thing you might have seen my previous video on it but on later because obviously it gets really dark early now and i'll just put all my bags and stuff at the end down there for now there's loads of room you can see a full hands width of space there the bottom of the sleeping mat is there and then there's loads of space at the head end so i'll put all my gadgets and gizmos at that end when i go to sleep later then in the porch i've got my titanium morgan stove in there my food bag and my table there with my water and tonight's beverage rock and roll ribena it's not a bad little spot is it so before i forget let me just tell you about the gear that i bought again so the lam shank 110 i got from campolis you might have seen my previous video where i did the seam sealing and a few mods i think that's about 120 130 quid i'll put a link below with the full details and that weighs in around 700 grams seam sealing seems to work fine we'll do some rain later so we'll see if it leaks sleeping back cover i've got is made by three fuel as well and was 24 pounds something from aliexpress so the sleep mat i think it's a bit of a therm-a-rest rip-off or copy it's obviously not the same level of quality or finish or materials but i just need something that's good enough for mild weather camps in the uk that was just over 34 pound delivered weighs 420 grams it packs down really small it's less than half the weight and half the size of the exped mat that i normally use yeah we'll see how we get on with it could be really good or it could be you know the world's most expensive crisp packet the foil mats i think was six pound or something like that from aliexpress remember i buy all this crap and test it so you don't have to so for food later on i've gone proper posh this time i've got a real turnip meal um it's the pasta bolognese one i won't normally buy these i'm sure i was sent this one from base camp food to try out so i've had it a while i've brought it along with me because it'll be really easy to make up just throw some boiling water in there and wait eight minutes i think it is so yeah we'll give that a go in a bit i've got about another hour or so of daylight left it's just starting to try and rain a little bit another bit of a wonder and make the most of the last bit of daylight now i'm just thinking here i've got my head end down there so the door's on this side so i'll go in head first and then bring my feet in last but is that what everybody does do you ever put your head end at this end am i doing it wrong i have no idea comment below and let me know what you do if you've got one of these tents or one where you can only go in on one side feet first or head first it's just started to rain now i'm just going to chill in the tent for a bit just listen to it because it's quite relaxing and we'll see if this seam ceiling holds up okay so i'm not sure if you can see me or not but i'm just about to make my dinner it's chucking it down outside it's been raining for probably a couple of hours now it is forecast to stop about nine o'clock it's about half five six o'clock now so i'll go out for a bit of a wonder later just so i'm not stuck in the tent for 16 hours um but i'm gonna boil some water up in the vestibule leave the door cracked open a little bit to hopefully let as much steam out as i can and yeah we'll crack on with the real turmeric meal [Music] okay so now we leave that in the bag for eight minutes to do its thing and then we'll give it a go right so time for the obligatory watch the other bite of my food and tell you how good it is shot i'm expecting good things with the price of these but we'll see [Applause] so it's not as tasty as i expected it's not as much flavor in it as i thought they would be um but i'll booger off and finish it and then i'll give you a verdict when i'm done so to be honest i wasn't massively impressed with that meal for the price that they are that one was a bit bland i thought last time i had the pulled pork and rice one and that was really tasty full of flavor but that one was just a bit bland so i wouldn't recommend that one stick to the cheaper meals i think right so there's not much else planned for tonight obviously it's dark and raining i'm just going to chill for a bit get some sleep and then i'll see in the morning for a brew and a review on all this kit [Music] [Music] morning folks i hope you can see me it's still quite dark it's just starting to get light so you'll be able to see me soon i'm pretty much fully packed up i've got most of it done in the dark but just to give you a quick update on the kit so the tent the condensation was really bad up until about ten o'clock last night so it rained from about four o'clock to half eight nine o'clockish so obviously while it was raining loads of moisture in the air i was getting loads of condensation in the tent i got myself one of these sponge cloth things from b m you just wipe it over the inside of the tent but once the rain stopped the wind got up a little bit and that seemed to clear the tent out so that was good just a little bit of condensation again this morning but nothing too major and like i say is to be expected that's the compromise you make really with that style of tent it's single skin so you are going to get condensation there's not massive amount of room inside of it again that's to bring the weight down so depending on what you're looking for if you want the lightest tent then that's the one to go for if you want something a bit more comfortable and practical maybe the lanchan 2 the normal one rather than the pro or the thai g2 or something like that if you're gonna go with three ful the sleep mat was really comfortable it was a little bit noisy when you're moving around like that kind of crisp packet sound um it stayed up all night it did slide around a little bit on that foil mat so i'll look for some of those silicon dots that you can stick to them stop them sliding the foil mat was fine you could feel underneath that it was giving a little bit of insulation and it was protecting me from the the sharp things underneath the tent as well and that sleeping bag liner was really good so when i had all that condensation in the tent my feet were touching the end at one point so my feet did get wet on the outside of the cover it was fine inside so i'll probably take that with me whenever i take my down sleeping bag to be honest just for that extra bit of protection i did end up taking the sleep mat back out of the bag it did fit but it was really claustrophobic so i took the sleep mat out and just had my sleeping bag inside the bivvy or the body bag or whatever you want to call it this is where i've been all cleared away you probably see where my headlamp's been as well all cleared away so the next camp if all goes to plan is going to be a christmas camp in the middle of december so there'll be a few more luxuries hopefully a decent fire as well that we can
