in this video we're going to be talking about ui design principles and how you can apply them to your own work hey there my name is arash and in this video i'm going to talk about the most important ui design principles and how you can use them in your own projects whether you are a beginner or an experienced designer these principles will help you create beautiful and user-friendly interfaces that your users will love so sit back relax and let me show you everything you need to know about ui design principles number one contrast contrast and design is one of the most important principles in creating an effective and eye-catching user interface by using contrasting colors you can make sure that your users will be able to see and read the information on their screens easily you can also use contrast to highlight important elements on your page such as call to action buttons or links but it's not limited to colors you can also create contrast with shapes and sizes number two consistency consistency is another important principle in ui design by being consistent in your design you can make sure that your users will be able to navigate your interface easily and without confusion you can achieve consistency by using the same set of colors typefaces spacing system icons etc number three typography typography is an important aspect of ui design the right typography can make your interface look more professional and stylish while the rhine typography can make it look messy and unreadable there are a few things to keep in mind when choosing the right typeface for your project readability make sure that the typeface you choose is easy to read personality choose a typeface that reflects the personality of your brand or project size and hierarchy use different sizes and weights to create hierarchy and structure in your design limit the number of typefaces you use in your project in most cases you would need two typefaces at most for instance you can use one for headings and one for the body content the next point you need to keep in mind is color can you imagine a user interface design without any color it would look quite boring and it would be really hard to navigate color can be used to highlight important elements create a good visual hierarchy help with navigation and express the personality of the brand that's why color plays an important role in ui design many beginners find it challenging when it comes to picking colors for their projects and it's totally understandable but here is the good news you don't need to be born an artist to choose great colors in fact you can use science to pick and combine colors harmoniously every single time how by using the color wheel once you learn how the color will works i guarantee you can create harmonious color palettes with ease point number five is visual hierarchy what's visual hierarchy in a nutshell it's the order in which your eyes are drawn to elements on a page the most important elements should be given the most attention while less important elements should be de-emphasized this is why visual hierarchy is so important in ui design by carefully crafting the order in which users will see elements on a page you can guide their attention to where you want it to go there are a few different ways to create a good visual hierarchy size larger elements will naturally draw more attention than smaller ones this is why it's often used for headlines and calls to action color bright and saturated colors will usually attract more attention than muted or desaturated colors alignment an element with a different alignment from others will attract more attention proximity elements that are placed closely together appear more related and finally white space more space between elements will draw more attention to them point number six spacing now let's talk about spacing spacing is the empty area between elements on a page and it's just as important as the actual content why is the spacing so important for one it can help to create a visual hierarchy as we just talked about but more importantly it can make your ui designs look clean uncluttered and professional and when done right it can actually make your ui designs easier to use there are a few terms related to spacing that you should know about padding and margin padding is the space between an element and the edge of its container or let's say the inner space of an element while margin is the space outside an element in this video we've looked at six important ui design principles contrast consistency typography color visual hierarchy and spacing keep this in mind as you work on your next project and you'll be sure to design a great user interface that meets the needs of your users if you want to learn how to design great buttons in figma make sure to check out the video on the screen thanks for watching and have an awesome day
