hey guys Tara pup here and um today we're going to look at the orange pie five plus uh I did a little poll online and I was asking what people wanted to see if they wanted to see the Radix uh Rock five a or the plus the plus one but in front of you guys I want to show you guys all the stuff I got for this so initially I had ordered an acrylic case on Amazon and this is what came with it so fan stand screws still wrapped into bubble wrap as you can see and I was kind of worried because when I had ordered this I wasn't sure I was going to get it in time but it actually came in a couple days before another thing that I had purchased and this was also this was from AliExpress and let me get everything kind of lined up so okay this was kind of a cool bargain so acrylic case okay a set of antennas that I will use with an orange pie M2 wireless card that I purchased separately okay so we'll put those over there a scan disk 32 gig card so that's not a bad um bad deal SanDisk by the way really good copper thanks okay there's a fan here and this is a I guess it's a generic Wireless USB dongle and then um this is a USB C to regular USB cord HDMI to cable and a US a US power supply now I think I'll put the link in there that I bought but I just was really eager because the uh antennas that came with this this intrigued me because there are actually holes in the case that you can put it out and it should look good so let's stop the camera and I'm going to go ahead and peel all off all the nice little plastic on the case so we can assemble it I'm also going to pull out the orange pi plus and we're going to kind of go over it okay so let's get started all right guys so I've got all the um film off of the acrylic and before I start I just want to kind of show you guys orange pie is really killing it with their five line so this is the orange Pi five yes there are two of my stacked together I'm trying to build out a proximox clusters you guys know but the whole fact that it's just kind of zoom in here that uh the case and everything that this has an awk core and this is a 16 gig board is this highly impressive I meant to me the Raspberry Pi is officially dead in my house but uh you know they kind of screwed over their community base but that's my opinion I know many are still loving them I will occasionally might go buy one but for right now I'm really loving the rock chip so this is the original pie five this little guy and I didn't do a video of putting it together I am going to do a video of its performance but this is the orange pie 5B and this is an as you can see an official orange Pi 5B case got the nice little button there's our TF card slot okay and there's our connectors and the little antennas which were very difficult to do but this this guy like I said it's really nice and what's been kind of cool is I took out my SD cards from this put in this and I was up and running instantly the other thing this is a 16 gig model again same rock chip but what's cool about this is it comes with 256 gigs of emmc so it's really really fast but right now I have and not sure why it's not in there but I'm actually running the orange pie official KDE uh Debian version on this and it is so beautiful okay now let's go back to this one original okay one of the things that was really cool about this is the M2 slot as you can see and on the bottom one I have a wireless card okay with the antennas as you can see coming out on the top one I actually have a 20 a 2240 uh nvme storage card on it there's a guy who's selling a bunch of these that he pulled out a dell and I went ahead and put it into this and a lot of people really love this one because of the whole fact that she could run nvne on this we're going to go ahead and put that one to the side no empty slot on this so it's on board or the SD card okay so here is the new me new one okay so this one's cool that here's your slot for emmc storage I recommend using the the Radix 5 style image I'm sorry emmc storage and as you can see it has the two connectors that's nice we're almost getting to the point where we'll have a standards okay so here's our M2 on top and this is going to be for Wireless okay and then let's tilt it a little bit so we got a power button USBC power two USB 3 slots okay a infrared okay let's zoom in real quick I may have told you guys whoa it was back out just a little bit come on all right it's being difficult okay so I'll put up the specs here in a little bit but we got another button there and that could be a reset of power infrared microphone head jack RG Pio pins okay and then what really a lot of people love about this board is the back side of this now the other orange Pi fives only have one video okay so this we have USB 2 here but we have one two 8K video out and one video in so probably going to try to do some video editing with this okay and we have two two point five gigahertz uh ethernet okay so and then we have our uat testing port and then there's lots of little power on top of the board you can see where there's those connectors so let's flip it over there's our SD slot and this is what everybody's loving because you can run a full nvme storage onto this card so like like I guys told you guys I have a lot of the 22 40s which are the smaller ones that a guy was pulling out Dell laptops and upgrading so I have like four 256 gigabytes but I can't use it on this board for right now unless I get an adapter so I have a 500 gig inland uh enmv it's a third gen so we're gonna try it on that but we have camera adapters there's three onto this board so let me go ahead and start assembling this and we will film it as we're going through all right I wanted to show this before I put it onto the board it's actually one terabyte uh it's probably overkill for this board but I was able to pick this up from Microcenter earlier this year it was on sale for 49.99 and again it's a third generation but still it's read is uh 2200 and it's right 1600. so for this little board it's gonna be nice we'll get it into here okay I just need to get a small enough screw to secure it in there so let me go ahead and get that attached now okay as you can see there's the nvme storage up underneath and I got secure in there nicely I got the feet onto the acrylic board I got the top pegs so that I can go ahead and start getting the recipe boards up but before I do anything in I'm going to put in the wireless adapter here because I want to make sure that I get it secure and the other thing I need to do as you guys remember is I need to get these secured the one thing I really hate about these small boards and if anybody has any recommendations the antenna connectors are very painful to uh connect but that's what we're going to work on next all right so I got the wrong wireless card so that's fine I thought it went in this way but no this is this is an e and where this is the uh M same as the n vme storage so I can't use this that's not fine for right now I'll order one later but um it happens you know right I shouldn't get upset but um I will put it to the side you know because I might use it later with the original orange pie five or if I take the storage out I could use it um where the storage is because there should be a way to connect it down there you know I'm gonna take a look real quick I'm gonna pull this off real quick and show you guys what it would look like with just the uh wireless card okay as you can see yes the wireless card would fit here but what's a little bit interesting is there is no way to secure it so I assume the case would hold hold it down and keep it into uh into place but um I don't think they were intending for the wireless to be down here they wanted this to be storage I really wanted us to use this one up here anyway just to show you that on the original orange pie this is the wireless card and it would fit into there all right we're going to keep going So the antenna connectors are there even though I don't have a card I just want to make sure they're in place I have my heat sinks as you can see and I'm about to assemble the top went and grabbed a LED fan okay I'm replacing it for the one that came with it and then we'll finish putting it together okay so this is what it looks like again I got a wireless card order from Amazon it's an e key not an m key so I'm going to try that out uh this by the way is not a um Wireless it's actually an st Rider so luckily I got some generic wireless cards so I'm going to try that now we're going to install uh Debian with xface 4 on and the reason is I want to try to set up Liberty with q-e-m-e just to make sure the performance for virtualization is good all right we will move to that stage next okay save some time I went ahead and grabbed a copy of Debian Bullseye from the armbian website went ahead and installed it and got X face up and running and this is not one of their themes this is me you know since this is the orange pie plus I went ahead and found a nice wallpaper that's got some Mandarin oranges got it up and running I wanted to show you guys first of all that uh this does have 2.5 gigahertz you know ethernet and if you run e tools the bottom one will always show you what its top speed is and as you can see here it says 2500 and that is the um 2.5 gigahertz which is very impressive and right now for me to run lidberg D I went ahead and set up bridging okay so it it's working pretty good except for some odd reason I'm going to go back and take a look I'm not getting out but that's not a biggie I all I care about is getting this up and running h-top which a lot of people like to look at does show all a cores and currently even with my verb that you see that's running behind it is only using 2.8 gigs of the 16 gigs we're now even swapping so I'm going to go ahead and minimize that there's uh vert manager I'm a virtual manager and um yeah I I know red Hat's not popular but I wanted to show that you can install uh words on this and I had the iso and I'm running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9. okay and over here Conkey is showing for the CPUs I need to go adjust the config file and once I do that it should look better but overall I'm very pleased with this this has been a nice little setup so again I'm not going to go into much into it I'll probably do some some gaming later but I just want to show real quick that uh you know it is up and running and um I did start out with the official uh orange pie uh X face uh same same version Bullseye but I noticed that um no actually I take that back I uploaded Bookworm and it looks like the liver D stuff has changed a bit because my ansible playbook that I normally like to run to set up things was not finding some the libraries and that's typical from one uh distro up to the other one but anyway guys the orange plus it's gonna be a nice little Arsenal I'm still trying to get prox mocks to either work on the original b or this uh right now let's go back to just to show you guys I'm running off of um off of a SD card just for now and if you see where it says V host that is my nvmv so that I could store my uh verts over there so the whole goal is to get this thing up and running and probably since this supports uh emmc I'm probably going to get proxmox or I might just keep using liver D I mean I'm not opposed to using Levert D because uh that's essentially what's running in proc box something up so that I can have my portable little library but anyway guys orange Plus super excited nice little uh you know small board computer I hope you like this video please subscribe like leave comments and uh there's more to come when I get the wireless back in here we'll do a quick uh video to show that the wireless and the antennas and then if I can get prox MOX working on this this is terrapup until uh the next video peace
