with food like hey I'm sorry but we I need to import some spices for you all over here that's the only town forall of the UK can you do a British accent okay um hello Tyler huge congratulations on your debut album I literally can't stop listening to it the reviews have been insane how you feeling over the moon literally it's the best response I could have gotten for my first album you know it's very ning like releasing something for the first time so the response has been amazing literally yeah everyone loves it now this isn't going to be a regular interview you're going to get to choose your own questions and obviously we're on this green screen setup so you get to choose your background what would you like to show up behind us maybe like a jungle with some tigers you know snap your fingers and it'll happen Okay okay perfect first round is promo or no promo uh promo so as we said this album is incredible everyone loves all the tracks but which song took the longest to write and which was the shortest to write shortest was to last okay yeah that was the shortest one uh longest I worked on breathe me for the longest literally okay but it paid off like all the like Coral recording that song oh my word it was very long like recording breath me was the longest process yeah do you do your own bvs as well yeah but I also work with people because I like when it sounds different you know when the chanting and everything it sounds so much better when there's like different voices it adds like texture is that your favorite song on the album or it's always changing but right now I'm listening to Brea me okay yeah definitely should be a single maybe maybe okay round two Grammy or granny Grammy Grammy or granny sorry to your grandma sorry gramny okay you obviously recently won your first Grammy for best African music performance for water but what's the first award you ever received M I won this page I don't know if it was a pageant but it was like a talent SL pageant thing and I used one of the clips for promo for on my body it was literally me like modeling across the stage and I ended up winning so that one was a cute one were you like a proper pageant girl no but like I want it to be like I wanted to be a model heavy so my mother would be like walk swear your hi it's bigger so when I got on that stage I was small but I was swaying those hips and ended up winning it so amazing and now a Grammy winner yeah round three based on your iconic single truth or dare truth or dare dare so everyone adors your accent obviously comes up a lot in interviews can you do a British accent oh okay um hello my name is Tyler I'm from shortage and yeah listen to my album I just released you know 14 tracks 14 fire tracks and you can listen when you have a cup of tea or a scun or something of that sort so yeah that's beautiful that was really good bad yeah how do you find the UK in general how does it compare to South Africa it's actually very similar okay yeah like it's very similar but foodwise that's the only downfall of the UK that's the only downfall but the Vibes are definitely good have youever found any food you like here yeah but I like the English breakfast because we also like that back home but with food like hey I'm sorry but we I need to import some spices for you all over here because I'm not sure well if like if you were to take me to joerg where would you take me to eat yeah so many places but I would probably take you to Spur because I love you you don't know spur no what type of food I don't even know what type of food it is but it's good that's all I know yeah it's really good okay mining or music music you're mining okay maybe I don't know we mining okay now I think like some of your fans may not know this but before you properly pursued music you considered taking a degree in mining engineering yeah what was the story behind that guys I wanted okay literally my parents were like you have to study like they were not having it when I was telling them like no I just want to make music they were not having it they said go study and then I almost accepted defeat and I almost went into mining engineering only because it was what was going to pay me the most literally that was the only reason but um I'm happy I didn't because you imagine me in the minds no do you have to be really good at school to do money engineering like yeah I mean yeah I was good at school I guess top 25 girls yeah but it was never like my interest well you used to do your like sessions at the weekends right yeah like I was doing school to do school cuz I had to but every weekend like music was what I wanted to do so and when when did your parents finally like accept that maybe this is the right path literally when the response of getting late was like crazy then they were like okay you can carry on doing what you need to do but before then yeah they were on my neck I'm telling you but I'm happy that they trust me you know what also now that you've like a Grammy I'm sure that now they're like whatever yeah could you take them to the Grammys they came they came to America for the first time how was that whole experience it was amazing especially because they were there witnessing their daughter when a Grammy you know it was the best thing ever and what is like obviously music fans we all dream about what the Grammys might be like did you bump into anyone famous what were the After parties like there was a lot of famous people that I saw so that was really cool the After parties there's so many like there's a party every night there's people out every night but I didn't really go out that much cuz I was trying to be calm I was too excited but the ones that I did go to were really fun yeah okay perfect final round scream or stream scream now we've seen you say in a couple interviews that you're a theme park addict yeah what's your favorite theme park and what's the scariest ride you've ever been on um I have to say gold D City because gold C is in cherg South Africa and that is the first theme park obviously I went to and that's what made me fall in love with it and the most scariest I went to six vags okay in America and oh my world the rides in America it's like how do they even think of that and I remember being on the ride and there's like a whole control center there's a big man there controlling the ride like I'm I was so scared cuz I was wondering what's going on over here and the ride literally went backwards and you were spinning at the same time and it was like Loop so it was everything in one so gold re said he's not quite the same no like when I went on that ride I realized gor city is like a calm theme park do you do you get scared easily or yeah I get scared very easily but I just like the feeling of rides horror films are you f of love Yeah favorite horror film uh The Conjuring okay all of them are just the first the first the first one is always the best true yeah I guess just finally like you've said in quite a few interviews you want to be the biggest pop star in the world or the biggest pop star of your generation what does that mean to you yo it means literally the the most you know just being a young South African girl and not having that example just the thought of me being able to be that girl one day is what motivates me every day I mean how does that feel cuz since you've sort of debuted there's been so many I guess critics saying that you're like the face of M piano music or South African music and I feel like that might be a lot of pressure but you seem to be handling it really well I mean I I don't even like saying oh I'm the face of this you know I don't really see it like that I really see it as me being one of the artists one of the African artists that is pushing it further and further because we all are really doing it right now you know just the response that we getting the music is really traveling now so I'm happy to be a part of it well even things like water like you're doing the badii dance like bringing that South African culture to the world is incredible yeah I absolutely love I love seeing the world dance our Styles and say our slang you know say Joe BG you know so pretty girl from Jo yes I love hearing it you know yeah I'm really enjoying it well I guess just in conclusion like huge congrats on this incredible album it clearly is the start of like a very long career and we can't wait to see where you go next thank you so much thank you so much Ty thank you so much for watching if you guys like it subscribe he
