hey everyone I'm gonna show you a jig that I use it's one of the times I don't use a finesse jig and it's in the spring when the water temps about 45 48 degrees somewhere in there we're gonna do the whole thing from the tying it with the material to the weed guard to the trailer and this is a really good color ah it's subtle but it shows up in murky water and we're gonna use round rubber along with regular silicon but this is gonna be a smoked purple barbed wire silicon so it's gonna be a subtle color so let's get started in the vise I have a quarter ounce weedless banana-head I put a wire keeper in there it's got a one on trocar tk8 40 hook in it and of course I there's a hole in there that I cast in for an F G 12 weed guard because I'd grown this around boat docks and light cover so we're gonna take black 210 denier Danville flat wax nylon thread let's get our base started and there's gonna be no flash in this like to stain on my shirt just did that ten minutes ago okay first thing we're gonna do is we're gonna take our round rubber and what you want to do your silicone skirts a little over five inches about five and a quarter depending on how much solid materials on the top and a bottom just take it make it cut a piece of a round rubber off if you never worked with this material and cut it about an inch longer and the way I do this is I could put fact let's do it that way we're gonna put the silicone skirt tab on first it really doesn't matter I use I used a round rubber but if you've never used it before this will be easier way let's take our silicone and get to wrap started just to hold it I'm gonna move this did the majority the material is upfront and I want maybe an inch behind behind the hook you're gonna work your material around it's pretty nice on all sides we've no bare spots good so once I have that and I'm satisfied with the position I'm gonna put a few more wraps here and the reason you're gonna want to do this pretty tight right off the bat is because you have to cut these rubber strands loose so now we're gonna take our round rubber and what we're gonna do is we're gonna put it a little bit past the bottom where that silicone is we're gonna make a couple securing wraps to now you see how that's folded over right here on the bottom you don't want that you want to straighten that out did it looks like that that it's pinched together and just hold it together and draw it tight you see what happens if you don't straighten that out when you pull it tight this part will fold back on itself and you don't want that because you'll have a jumble of our material in the front there and wrap it down make sure you hold your rubber now if your wire tie this you're not gonna have the same issue but when you do it this way with the thread you can really get a a nice flare on the material so I'm gonna work this all the way down to the bottom of my collar and then I'm gonna work it back up if you have more length down to bottom or at the top that's not no big issue because you can always cut off but if you don't leave enough material overhang they can add it now we have our material in place simple whip finish one more three they do need a bigger whip finish tool for and I could do it by hand and that's what I should be doing but leave it to me to mess it up now we got that cinched trim it off and I'm gonna put my superglue head cement on first before I do any cotton because once I do that it's gonna get in the way and we have it now I'm the thing with this jig is it's has a lot more bounce to what that rubber is a little a little looser into colder water so now we're gonna take the small scissors what I do is I grab about a quarter inch that would be the best way to say a quarter inch if you pull it and it breaks don't worry slowly cut as you pull and it frees your strands up do the same thing for the top maybe a half inch on the top depending on how you position your material see how it snaps back that's kind of unavoidable let's make sure I grab all the pieces that break off did a you have to put tension on it and cut otherwise you won't release those strands this is the one pain about working with round rubber I'm gonna cut my silicone and the bottom and I'm going to make sure my strands are all released before I do anything else around rubber will sometimes stick together down at the bought base it it where you have it tied at the collar so here's two more two didn't go and when I look at it I'm a little bit longer in the front with the rubber so what I'm gonna do is I'm going to take all these longer pieces and I'm gonna stretch them out I'm gonna slowly cut now we have this part of it and don't fret if you have to separate some strands I've been working with this stuff for a long time and I still find myself like this did I have to pull a few strands apart it's just a nature to beast with this material now once I have it you know look to see where to where the length of my material ends and I'm going to trim it so that I have an inch inch and a quarter behind that walk my big scissors here the idea with this is to create a compact profile but still have a full-size jig on like I'm a finesse style jig where you have a spider cut skirt and you got that slimmer profile now what you're gonna have is you're gonna have a full skirt like this but it's gonna be very compact now we're gonna take or wheat garden FG 12 and some super glue gel we're gonna put our weed guard in there and if you're wondering why I use this weedless banana-head a lot it's because it's a extremely versatile jig I could do a lot of different things with it and it takes in the mold that I have takes in a wide range of hooks from heavy-duty 60 degrees to heavy-duty 90 degrees now we got our weed guard in there make sure I get there all the material fluffed out now we're gonna take our trailer this is a zoom Superchunk jr. and the color is purple it's purple and black combination really works good in the cooler water and the way I'm gonna put this on is I'm gonna thread it did the hook is actually gonna come out under this little pad here see if I can get the strands out of the way and show you where it outlook is coming out at see where the hook is coming out at it's coming out at the bottom and that pad and then we thread it up onto our wire keeper look how that's flared I can't even get that material to push down at all that rubber is just bouncing all over the place and that's that's what makes rubber good it's hard to store because it will melt on you but when you tie it with dread I mean look at that that that just sticks out and it moves in the water just as well now this is the whole profile you get put it under the light so you just could see it it's not a real big jig and in the water it has a lot of movement but it's not a real heavy a real heavy jig it's gonna fall slow and it's gonna give you a nice small profile give it a shot in that color pattern that that smoked purple with the black living rubber with that purple chunk trailer on there it's just it's just hard to beat that combination give it a try let me know what you think thanks for watching
