hey y'all thanks for tuning back into tutanic i hope everybody's having a great week well i had such a great response from the last videos turning some of this trash into treasure that we might as well do it some more because i have tons of junk around here so don't go anywhere because we're fixing to turn some of this junk into treasure all right i have set my eyes we had this given to us it's a pool and 46 inch cut with a 17 and a half horsepower briggs on it deck is in great shape it has been sitting for a long time but this thing is completely locked up it is not going to turn over um everything is just gross but you know what i got i got an engine on a bad body what i have been holding on to is this pulan riding lawn mower with a 19 and a half horsepower briggs and stratton engine which is actually in good shape it looks a little scary now we're gonna make that all great again but the transmission doesn't work on this one so we're gonna steal this engine and put it on that mower over there so hang out with me while i turn this shop trash into treasure so we got them all loaded up even though it would be much easier to do all this at the shop i am actually on vacation this week so i'm taking these home i'm going to put them under the shed and we're going to get these all swapped out cleaned up and hopefully make some money off these all right so we've got him back at the house now and i'm just going to go over this with you so you can see how nasty this thing is right now now when the customer gave it to us they knew that they had messed up and that the engine was locked up and i'm gonna show you why we believe that it happened when you look under here it looks like they have the throttle and the governor all tied up together and locked in place now because of them not letting the governor do its job i think that it threw the counterbalance off and you can see that there's this crack right here in the block so this engine is definitely shot so the first thing we're going to do we're going to take this engine off and i know you want it cleaned but i'm going to i'm going to clean after i remove the engine so i've got to remove some of the wiring harness unplug that from the starter also we're going to take the throttle cable off and the fuel lines the tank vent line and get this hood out of the way and remove this engine what are you doing babies huh you're so sweet all right so first thing we're going to do we're going to remove the hood just to get it out of the way to remove the hood it's just set on two hinges that are easy to take off but you do have to um disconnect the headlight wires so i'm just gonna go forward and it comes right off all right i'm going to remove the wire going to the starter and disconnect the wiring harness right here to disconnect this we're going to push in on both sides because it's attached to two little prongs and pull it off just like that i do want to go ahead and get this shroud that's just sitting here out of the way also it's held on with a bolt on each side that also is the same bolt that holds the gas tank to the mower well somebody looks like they've found their comfy spot all right we've got everything done off the other side now we're going to remove the throttle cable and the fuel line and bit line i'm using my eight millimeter to remove this bolt all right so this has a z bend in it so you're just gonna have to pull it that way and then we're gonna get this vent line off and the fuel line all right one more thing we're going to remove to just get it out of the way is this deck because we are going to be cleaning it up really good but to do that we're going to take this uh pin off the front it's also got the hanger pin right here and also one in the back so on each side you're going to take these off with the washers and the deck will slide out pretty easy now to replace an engine you don't actually have to take the deck off i just am because i need to get it cleaned up because we are going to sell this you could actually just undo the front deck hanger jack up the front axle and get to it that way okay so i engaged the parking brake that way i know that there is no tension on the drive belt to the drive pulley while i'm taking this drive pulley off also um i've lifted it up just a little bit with my jacks that way i can get under here really easily with my impact and the head of the bolt is universally always 5 8. so let's take it off now from looking um on the underside of the carriage you can see there are four bolts there's two on this side and two on this other side i don't know if i can get over there but um most of the time on all of the newer stuff that it's 9 16 and except the john deere's it's 15 millimeter heads all right so now the engine has completely come loose from the mower body so we're able to take it off if you do not have a engine hoist have somebody help you [Music] all right now we're going to remove the gas tank because it's already unhooked and check out that rat's nest gross all right so this thing is nasty we're going to pull out the pressure washer and get it all cleaned up before we take the other engine off the other mower and put it in this one we'll be using the simpson pressure washer that i just uh fixed up in the video turning shop trash into treasure it's running amazingly so uh let's get this bad boy going [Applause] well that cleaned up quite nice all right here's the 19 and a half horsepower brigand stratton engine on this bad transmission body that we're going to be taking it off so let's just pop this off real quick and we'll get it cleaned up making it look great again all right let's get this thing cleaned up all right guys so even after a super maker pressure washing this thing still looks sort of nasty so i'm gonna check out the other gas tank and see if it looks any better all right i got the other one off let's see if this one cleans up any better oh yeah that one looks way better all right all right so i'm going to get on this deck now it looks scary but it really is just dirty checked all the pulleys they're still in good shape spindles are still in good shape we're going to flip it over here in a second we are going to replace the deck belt though because it is worn out and has some cuts out of it all right so looking at the underside of the deck it looks gross it's moldy and nasty but the blades probably were only used a time or two before this a machine was abandoned so i'm going to get them cleaned up and sharpened and cleaned the bottom of this deck up spindle bottom looks perfect so that's great yeah those are awesome all right so i knocked a little bit of the rust off but these are really in good shape i mean they're still straight as can be and have tons of blade left so let's get these sharpened up [Music] all right i think that will do just fine [Music] [Music] all right well that's good enough for horseshoes and hand grenades close enough let's get it sealed up now so all right i am done with the bottom all right let's see what's going on here some bird feathers we're going to take our covers off and get this all cleaned up um [Music] well it actually cleaned up pretty good there are a couple little rust spots i think i'm going to go ahead and put a little spray on those but other than that it's in pretty good shape all right so while i'm letting the deck dry i'm going to go ahead and put my mounting bolts back into my engine now you can use a little bit of loctite at this point but these are actually locking bolts so all right so i eyeballed it about where they line up up top but now we're going to go ahead and put the bolts in we want to square the engine up so i'm putting one in the front right one in the back left or the front left and the back right just to make sure that it's not going to jiggle around on me all right i got my engine mounted i got my um engine pulley back up there and you want to make sure to get the drive belt around it correctly inside of the belt guards whenever you do that now let's check out this engine and see if it's going to run we're going to go through the carburetor first maybe just drain the bowl first see what it looks like inside because although it was under cover it did sit outside for a long time all right so i'm going to um just release the bowl and see what it looks like inside to do that you're going to need you could either buy a thin one but we just make them around the shop we get old half inch and open-ended wrench and you can just file it down so it'll fit up between the carburetor bowl and the fuel shut off solenoid so i've unplugged it and now we're just going to loosen it up well it doesn't smell great our fuel shut off solenoid's not stuck that's good but it is rusty oh well that's not good let's go ahead and take this carburetor off too now you would think that you want to take the carburetor off but actually it's much easier just to take it off with the manifold so once you get it like this you're going to pull this out a little bit you're going to push this lever through that way you can undo your breather tube spin the entire carburetor around like this and you can easily get out your linkages and you got it off all right so the inside of the carburetor cleaned up pretty good and surprisingly the bowl cleaned out really good so i do not have to replace that that's awesome got the fuel shadow solenoid all cleaned up and i have a new bowl gasket and a new needle we're going to put in [Music] so [Music] do [Music] so [Music] do [Music] all right to put your choke lever back into place you are going to get the z bend right in the center right there you're going to set it in this little track here and you're going to go ahead and tighten the screw down pretty much all the way now you're going to put your throttle handle up top on your dashboard all the way into the choke position and then you're going to pull back the cable and then you're going to tighten down your bolts so all right so i have a battery but it is completely dead which makes a great time to bust out my gulu gt 3000 if you didn't see this in my christmas video you've got to check it out this bad boy is awesome the most compact powerful jump starter on the market period i will leave a link in the description box below where you can get yours so i'm going to go ahead and hook it up and it does not matter which one you hook up first with this because it does not send any power until the second one is actually attached so it'll start up and if it continues to beep like this because my battery is completely dead you have to hit the boost button when you hear that click it's ready to go put it in choke well that is amazing it started up like a beast so i'm going to clean it up put all the shrouds and everything back on it get the hood back on there get the deck back on there but before we do that i'm going to run it and make sure that the drive actually works all right i am super happy with how well this deck cleaned up got the new belt on belt guards and i'm ready to put it back on this mower so are you all ready for the big reveal did we turn some shop trash into treasure i think we did check this out so [Music] well we're done and it runs great i'm going to take this back up to the shop and see how much we can get out of it leave a comment below what do you think we should try to sell it for thanks again for watching chicanic have a great day [Music] you
