[Music] here in Japan this there's lots of ice sheets so we're getting it off so we had a few problems with this video problem 153 I streets to try and not enough time to properly show them all so let's group them my first meetup category is Japanese styled iced treats they are the iced versions of Japanese desserts like if there were an apple pie Ice Cream Sandwich turns out there is one our more relatable ice cream cake [Applause] [Music] look I'll come with you everybody let's see my name is okay it's nothing down the thing but it's also goodie oh you do taste actually yeah sweet potato in it this is better than I thought it would be but that's not skin of course hello future Greg hair I'll be annoyingly popping in to add stuff that I thought would help explain things better for example this is a Satsuma emo a type of Japanese sweet potato and when you roast or grill it becomes yaki emo which is what the dessert was trying to emulate and once it's roasted you can just peel off the skin and eat it straight so it's a really nice treat just on its own nice healthy treat but in the desert form I guess it's more unhealthy and honestly not as tasty as the real thing mochi is a popular Japanese treat made by cooking rice and then smashing it into a glutinous ball annually at the school festival everyone gets a chance to do this so Yuki me directly translates as snow look but it's more like looking at snow so the expression in Japanese is that feeling of enjoyment as you're watching snow just like my brother and I are doing at the Sun same shot there okay I've never seen this one before special it's okay I could eat this cuz the concept is the same it's like it's just like matcha yeah but I understand by why it's always much I yeah it's not tastes better I think this one people who like chocolate will like this one yeah original while the mochi ice cream we just ate you can eat daifuku is very easy to find we also came across some special premium ones all right what for this one show it to the camera would see on ice cream like a vanilla ice cream it's haagen-dazs it's gotta be good I don't like well the bottom is just like vanilla is gonna think yeah the mochi not bad the now I'm tasting the edamame is not bad it's subtle I think this is a pretty special Japanese flavor I don't think you'll get this anywhere else in the world so if I was here I try this out just to see all have mummy taste it and we'll see do you like it what she looks great about okay well let's let's try no you're not gonna try anything okay I'll try matching hmm I like this one I would totally - mom yeah it looks good hmm this reminds me of what a be monsoon yeah okay like so that's my like this month that's one of my favorite Japanese desserts what have you much you yeah yeah so what's Kay na koi exactly roasted soybeans that are like crushed and powdered yeah I didn't know that yeah I don't know if they got a focus or not it looks like a lower quality version of the previous one well it's definitely more melted version it's just different no the previous one tasted better see this even looks a little uh cool yeah yeah yeah you're right just like what it looks so don't get this one get the one from haagen-dazs this one's pretty probably cheaper right I don't know actually I thought this was like 300 yen look how they have the UM Oh like the syrup coming out just like kind of molasses type sauce so I'm gonna try it the molasses sauce mmm there's so much better with the zero mm-hmm no syrup as what this is real kikyo schengen mochi and if someone visits the prefecture of Yamanashi it's really likely that they'll bring a treat like this for you as a present luckily this actually happened to us just by coincidence so let's try it out here and it's this cute little package like this so the reason they have this bag here is because it's pretty messy and this is a little bottle of Chrome it's a-- which is literally means black honey but it's more like a thin molasses that's Mulder so yeah and this is kinako which is roasted soybean flour so you pour the kutami two on top this looks like a little kids toy desert set so i'm gonna try to get one and see right when you try to get one look at the mess it makes oh it's just but you want to get the sauce in there too so let's get the sauce this one the real one is better although the haagen-dazs pinochle ice cream is really good so i just suggest trying that I call this made-up category icy as well it's icy problem too everything's melting if you notice at the beginning we got dry ice at the grocery store even though we had coolers and dry ice opening and closing the boxes constantly cause the cool air to escape solution Oh Casa started transferring all the ice treats to our freezer while moving our frozen food to the coolers I don't know anyone in Tokyo who has a deep freeze freezer space is usually limited to your fridge it's supposed to be on the bar but it's ice a lot hmm it's a main fish she know it now blend for you thinking I go my mouth is too oh that's why I got it that's nice isn't it yeah it's kind of two days hmm no it's like a much it takes it come up to drink problem three too much sugar I'm gonna take this I'm taking your spot do you mind just making sure we're in France okay your own cold chill texture I don't know I would not buy that one again oh it's oh it's like beans and Nicola mandarins lace and a pineapple slice this is really sweet you're seeing it sweet so let me try some of the beans I don't know it's a little melted it's a really check those different down should be but totally not my thing no I'd never get so I think that she recognizes this kind of like a concept you have just like ice cream part and some like the fruits and beans it doesn't taste good no but I've tried other like a shirokuma other types of like ice cream got a cold your okama don't work quite good so I did this particular version isn't really good I didn't think we showed the last time so we're gonna do it yeah it's melted I'm gonna squeeze the bottle okay so you don't need daddy this is a more yet oh yes I see that it's nice and refreshing lemon so when you are really really thirsty on a hot day hot sunny day but you don't want to eat ice creamy creamy stuff I go for this I just want to take really have the whole lunch or are you really gonna eat the whole lemon are you really gonna do that well that's a real lemon slice if you don't put it in here I want to eat that lemon Oh what do you do oh you're wasting the lemon it's a really good lemon you're teaching the world such bad manners okay I'm gonna try this I think it's good if you find this in the store and you have the icebox in the store I like this yellow snow better I've had that lemon before the lemon is really nice humbly should we certainly got I'm like yo says they do an exquisite this no that's really lemony it's is like lemon almost like 15 lemons bitumen sitting finally there are cones that are similar to drumsticks in North America but the soft-serve cone is something I hadn't seen before supposed to be cleaner but pop bite that came up we have some nuts on it nice and sharp oh yeah just okay don't clean but brick put in the freezer axle a long time bar is not like your bahar is so like black it's like a mouse my way if you bite it and like it looks like a mess now the teachers like Norma baniwa but when we first bought this I think the first time is this year I tried this out I liked it don't know maybe ever had an ice cream or maybe because we have the haagen-dazs it just doesn't do it for me oh my god solid cocuwa just try to displace just make it or something it's a dog dog jobs like I think I like it no no wait wait there's something in the middle so we're gonna do we gotta find the middle oh yes you see you got the chocolate there you go they just tried to lick that this place is like home yeah it looks like hunt what in the Rosa whoo just like is it coffee oh I don't know it's really strong Persian means I don't scream so don't feed your kids this I wanna give really bitter cacao Japan loves her kickin Kinte which is limited time products if they sell well they'll come back again when the season is right if not it can be a one-time affair I really like pumpkin we make this special hey this is kabocha it's a sweet winter squash in English it's called the Japanese pumpkin and it's commonly found in loss of Japanese dishes but this is the first time I've ever tasted it in ice cream and it was good daddy and me and was like this point Oh daddy I mean yeah nope I like Paris we need to squish it next good boy he needs a special hmm I do like this one yeah spritzing - that's good that's funny bleeding quite mm-hmm I think that one again yeah whoa nah she like Asian pear chunks this is what I real now she looks like and the poppy Co which is ah this is the coffee one but we had a nasty one and I actually had chunks of this in it which was so tasty highly recommend so I got a crouch down for this it's still Shin height this is banana and mascarpone okay you can see it kind of swirled in there you can see it you're like eh I like it banana it's pretty strong mmm so yummy yeah the banana is really strong but it tastes natural to me so I like it if you like banana okay use it now this is usually Blanc mache which is yuzu which is a type of citrus and white eating if that's the French translation nope this is what Blanc mache looks like it's a type of milky gelatinous dessert I love user so I have high expectations [Music] it's a very interesting flavor I love YouTube I'd definitely put this one again yeah do you see this soon it seems like there's little chunks of user in there so that's I can use your um shaking don't don't shake it so that's use your rind so this is a food replica of yuzu and you can actually put your pins in there I love using so much that and that's why I got it and you can find yuzu in sauces in da min and even in ice cream so I'd highly recommend if you find anything using to try it out in Japan it's a really nice citrus there are bite-sized treats you can have in Japan we had fruit balls chocolate balls chocolate-covered ice cream and chocolate covered flavored ice cream I personally found all of them underwhelming this one brand Pinot has been around for a long time but I'd rather have padamu which we'll show you later they said juicy and Alice's key that's definitely not my cup of tea tea is popular in Japan so it's no surprise that tea flavored ice cream also exists and is popular as well I want the tapioca from peel this one is obviously trying to cash in on the pearl milk tea that that's been happening in Japan hmm it's actually not bad it's like your tapioca is it like you just have a bite Jack all right go on my boy what does it taste like you're a bit like macho something interesting so it's like bubble tea ice cream bar this is my yeah a little bit I like this one yeah this is good it is like real real tea yeah would you find the vending machines techno tea so this right here was the milk tea we were talking about the royal milk tea no I'm gonna go sometime Aloha milk tea so yummy one two three [Music] like the other one knows better that was okay yeah my dead skin was like we're not just thanking hmm no it's really nice it's you're a bit beetle beetle green tea or matcha flavored food can be bitter especially to North American taste buds and as I recently learned making a video at a green tea farm the matcha used in ice cream and confectionaries is of a lower grade than what you'd drink I like it but the did you take the haagen-dazs green tea no one's better okay yeah this is not bad but how does bad I mean it's twice as expensive at least vanilla is my go-to flavor so I wanted to try a few different types this is always good your uncle like I forgot to cook it as in soon when I got mean I didn't so this is and you actually have to eat a bunch so you go I don't like vanilla eat the vanilla so I think you have to eat about that much first before he can do the trick I never said thank you I think it has to you're on the go but I like the package that's why I never have it I think that's why now's as good a time as ever to explain that Japanese ice cream has three different categories ice cream which is milk solid content to 15% or more and milk content of 8% or more iced milk which is milk solid content of 10% or more and milk fat content of 3% or more and lacto ice which is milk solid content of 3% or more and this is vanilla so let's try this out I think that case is like always say mismo so which was cheap daddy the move and this one oh then I think it's more great to buy the more we have like more then this is almost same taste this goes to show it's often a waste to give premium foods to kids another vanilla that's what's special about this vanilla note the cows themselves hand milk cows I know what they're thinking and we need three days say they ship it Express okay so this should be the best vanilla we've ever tasted in our lives okay just look at that it's oh my good y'all I can treats so yeah we got to do this was creme brulee so it's what you turn I are eating before the one you said you don't like it's not a hard Pemberly you must like it you're taking another bite that way oh you don't like them boys temper sweet potato I guess yeah mmm Oh leave more flavor yeah I like this one I has a strong sweet potato like purple sweet potato flavor it smells pretty good this is good but we liked our hmm no there's one that has a better ice cream sounds good inside I don't think I'll like the outer shell it seems like it's too fake oh it's like an ice cream cone no we have like more than 50 ice creams and we I think we can today with four people why because - how do you know I I do yes even cats can have their own special frozen treats which you can buy at a pet shop what is this a cup so this is a cat ice cream this made for cats and dogs so they can eat ice no it's food I almost tried to eat it is that safe McMillon yeah yeah what did you put there food oh that's what you see you see like eat so should be regular food but so you won't eat this melon no she's trying to figure out how to get it without eating the melon okay let's try this one okay yes oh she's find a melon yeah there's enough for now and ice cream for you okay yogurt oh I'm gonna try it no oh okay so I know my cat does like yogurt so I'll try and show it to you guys that's gonna sit yeah we're done yeah okay look so you're in the way so honestly I just could have bought her that's regular yogurt and she would have been fine and happy my other cat he just needs cat food he's over there but you can't see him he's like cake thing that cats can eat do you like it do you like it Nanta okay we're in let you go away for a second yeah yeah okay let's write it what animals eat these things we spend saying go yeah go in on this 15 dollars or something yeah and they don't even like them it's your birthday oh it's just licking the side of it so the only way to get her to eat food is to put cat food in the desserts it's the last time I buy the cats chance if you're watching your calories we tried a couple options for you Carly it's 40% sugar if I boil it like the chocolate Sun is so I'm calling them the odd ones out okay I just say custard no no it's it's creme brulee of course I co was right and creme brulee is a rich custard I was too focused on the caramelized sugar topping it's a very specific type of dessert it's usually not frozen though you don't know if you know yeah I've never had it really they roast like they burn it so you're not gonna try it okay move out you guys gonna try problem for kids won't eat many things so the adults had to take over good thing we had you to come was gonna eat all this stuff too I love trying different well this money's frozen so the problem is the the day the burnt part is frozen I think it will be much much better if you just have the ice cream and like the top part they were just you know make it on the spot so this looks like a compromised version of how it's supposed to be I had high expectations for it though yeah it looks pretty much it yeah it looks so nice the premiere right kind of ice cream mommy says like she she loves creme brulee so it's just disappointing later on during the week my wife actually bought this and this is creme brulee balls so it's kind of neat I've never had these before that I remember my wife will show here what to do it's like a little balloon is what it looks like it is it's rub it is a balloon okay there you go and this is from Hokkaido right and then we have this caramel crush is what it's called here we go sprinkle on the caramelized shear so let me taste this one ooh looks good already hmm that is so much better than the frozen dessert that we bought so if you're you have a hankering hankering for a creme brulee and you're in a Japanese grocery store look for this stuff really good she said she actually bought this in Hokkaido when we were in Hokkaido I didn't know this so you might be only able to get it there I'm sorry Aiko I'm gonna try this one you don't like this money there okay fine you just as well French packaging middle is supposed to be French yeah I didn't think TV was like a really high-end brand or anything nice not so that's what I have like huh cream cheese ice cream and passion orange sauce I kind of doubt I'll like this cuz I don't like macarons you like Macklin's no I just I don't know why I like I love desserts but I'll see so that the macaron part like this yellow part so the flavor of the yellow part it's so strong has a very strong taste and strong smell it kind of like it kills the it dominates the whole thing which I don't think how it's supposed to be there's no subtlety to it no I was expecting more like a premium taste oh really yeah it's quite cheap I mean it does like look like it should be premium right yeah I don't like pink left side I'm making it I like cream tastes like clever dough [Music] [Laughter] I've had better ways so we have these two things that were in the deserts section but we didn't realize this one you need to heat up it's actually meant to be warm and this one you just need to defrost but you can still eat it cold is that right oh but it's gonna be too hard if we try now you're thinking let me try okay you see the teeth marks in here okay I'm gonna try painting the same is a bit cold Oh what is that not in getting cream cheese I just call it bun looks what oh this picture area looks so nice but just like almost bun looks like it looks like more like a pink isn't a game I just want one more button if you like finish eating it like if it's still cold I think it's it like tastes like a pancake it's better so I didn't think I gave this emaki a yucky a fair chance so I microwaved at this time and will eat it so let's see it's definitely easier to eat but hmm it's better it's definitely better these are some of the sundae and parfait cups you can buy you taste a coffee it has like crispy chocolates in it and it's mixed with some vanilla and chocolate so I think it's good fine it's so hard to open okay oh my gosh so tasty right I didn't eat that yokel hmm no it's so tasty yeah when I first taste good it was really nice dude that you put in a toilet song okay is like a toilet cleaner thing yeah okay it comes and goes for toilet time make it pan app no I don't know okay next there were a lot more bars than popsicles we could have tried however since they mostly came in multiples we didn't end up trying too many this is the Canadian maple and walnut that we found specially in Japan I don't even know if Canadians get this that looks good yeah maple Wang Canadian hmm you know what we had a Canadian maple walnut ice cream in Canada has the same flavor yeah but it has the addition of sweet chocolate as well it's most not as good as I was expecting still pretty okay eisah ba ba ba it's a um director what place is like almost like milk I think this one is good mm-hmm the calories is 145 calories yeah and that's why I like these bars they used to be my favorite for a long time great can you see this bar on the camera so a friend you thought was coming over I asked him what kind of ice cream he likes and he said this and I bought it for him except I didn't open open it for him when he came so I'm eating it on his behalf the very last one will eat after 52 ice creams I didn't think I was going to like this anymore but I actually do enjoy it just as much as I do when it's the only ice cream I eat in a day what about you it's always good it was good powder man sponsored by pediment no not not really the funny thing is that even though this video is incredibly long we forgot to eat a few of them but the funnier thing is that there were so many frozen desserts we didn't even buy all that we could have however I did want to eat a couple more things to show you what we usually buy this is actually one of my favorite treats and I didn't even buy it for the video until now and it's Ghana's choco cookie sandal and it's a butter cookie sandwich on this side and it's chocolate and nuts on the other side so let me open it up this is what looks like and let's try it out let's try the other side oh good so this hair is the staple at our household it's lady Borden so it's kind of like a mid-range ice cream it's higher than mo which will buy it and it's but it's lower than haagen-dazs which we'll also buy just depends on our mood and how much we want to eat but this one you can buy a big one like this for three to four hundred yen and they have basic flavors like chocolate and vanilla so if you want something standard like that we'll go for this so it was a decent choice I guess I should eat some even though I've already eaten so much ice cream it's really creamy I really like the flavor honestly I like it just as much as of the haagen-dazs but when it comes to other specialty flavors definitely haagen-dazs is where I would point my spoon towards oh I forgot to say I was too busy trying to eat the ice cream that dent was actually from the US originally and then it left Japan came back to Japan but the ice cream was made in Australia and then sometime it happened where it's made in Saitama now which is just north of Tokyo so it's now a local product and it says yeah right there something I found out while making this video is that haagen-dazs is not the same worldwide yeah this is Japanese haagen-dazs so it's half owned by a company in America and half owned by two companies in Japan the dairy for this comes from Hokkaido which is the northernmost province or Prefecture in Japan it's famous for its dairy and it's manufactured in a factory in Gunma which is kind of more like central Japan so what you'll get with haagen-dazs is not only a different flavor for things like vanilla and chocolate and strawberry but you're going to get uniquely Japanese only flavors like kabocha or mochi and it's really hard to go wrong with almost anything you try I've tried quite a few of them now especially for this video so I'd highly recommend it but that being said there's lots of interesting different types of ice cream and flavors and treat that you can get so I suggest try a few and see the ultimate problem 53 ice treats to eat I added some more and the video was still crazy long it turns out I did not have what are you doing hi ko eat ice cream or ice cream which one is that which one is this that why your favorites yes and this one to you my goodness
