it's finally time everybody gonna want to talk about this little device since the conception of it now I have my hands on it now we're ready to talk about it guys let's sit down and talk about the Rog Ally for a bit this guy arrived in the mail on the 13th as promised so great and uh here's what you can expect to see inside of it you have the handheld itself got that wall charger for me I already have the 65 watt charger dock so that's just something I'll just kind of keep in the box and a bunch of paperwork and that's pretty much it I will tell you first hands-on experience a lot of updates pretty much the night that I received it was nothing but just having a charge getting the setup correct updates are there it was at the tail end of the night that I started downloading a couple of the other games and then later on started downloading even more games until I pretty much uh peaked at the uh the capacity it is very impressive granted I don't really dabble on the handheld like PC market and there's like a bunch of devices out there that do similar things like this even put in Windows into the device but this is the first time for me to try this so it's important for me I have curated a list of games specifically from Game Pass PC and just ran them through their testings ran different performance modes just to kind of give you guys a quick introduction to three different like types of performance modes there's like the silent mode which is not really for gaming it's mainly for just like internet browsing movies and whatnot there's a standard performance mode and then there's turbo mode I was a bit picky about what types of titles I want to showcase y'all do as far as just showcase the the performance obviously we have to get some demanding games but also I wanted to pick some that are kind of like within my ballpark as far as interests and whatnot that's door it's a fantastic game you guys have played a tunic before uh it's kind of similar to that in a gameplay sense I would say silent mode does not really work well with a lot of the tiles I have showcase here but you could you could play through it like that performance mode was pretty good death store was running just fine like hanging around 60 frames per second and performance mode turbo mode at that point uh bumped it up even more so so but it wasn't a lot you get a lot more returns by just checking in the in-game settings and check boxing and lowering whatever specific settings you don't really need I believe I was able to hit 120 frames on this one but I had to pretty much downscale the 720p so there's that which is weird because I really should have started considering that but I kind of like dropped off on 720p after a couple titles Minecraft was actually the next one this was weird so I started up a new game silent mode was as you expected but it was actually not too bad not too bad versus you know deathstore a performance mode definitely exceeds UH 60 frames a turbo even more so the problem is that both will fluctuate a lot that's definitely something where you want to jump into the in-game settings and limit like the amount of frame rate because this one was definitely Limitless it was over 60 but it definitely jumped like from like a hundred down to like 80 something it was kind of all over the board so definitely recommend it honestly I just kind of play through the game without checking anything else and I just totally forgot about it for me first I didn't really have much issues kind of just playing through the game without limiting the frame rate like all that fluctuation even though I noticed it wasn't too much of a bother for me but I have a feeling that's probably gonna be more of a case later on ghost song is actually a really interesting one I didn't even get into this game until more recently when I was on a trip and I decided to boot up like game pass with some crazy high internet speed so I was just playing on the cloud playing this uh Go song game and I've heard about a little bit but I didn't know exactly what it was it's a really cool adventure Vania more a little bit like Hollow Knight meets some Metroid mechanics going to the performance uh yeah I know silent you already know actually you know it scratch that silent mode uh we know that it doesn't really run too it doesn't run too well but if you actually go into the uh settings in this game and you lower it to 720 it hits 60 frames oddly enough it's pretty consistent with that too at 720p now we're just kind of looking at seven point p uh performance mode hits 120. fairly easily but if you have performance mode on at 1080p it will just go just above 60 which is still very solid turbo does give you more frames but it won't it you won't be hitting triple digits I'm sorry unless you decide to lower the resolution which makes it a nice approach there too I think that's the beauty of this honestly is the fact that you have options to lower the resolution just for the sake of gaining more performance for just more frames whereas like given with some consoles you're kind of limited to just 60 or 30 and sometimes not even that despite the name this is probably the most underwhelming like performance test because this game overwhelmed it is also kind of similar to a Metro video but it's kind of like all in like a retro like style somebody just expect to play on The Game Boy Color or the Game Boy but uh it's also pretty fun too so overwhelm runs 60 frames seemingly locked and it runs like this in silent mode so that's all you really need to know let's talk about like the three big hitters we finally jump into Forza Horizon 5. this one's actually pretty cool so when you run run it on PC they have uh the option prompted to you as far as like keeping the presets as it is it runs and checks your current rig and see if it's like optimized just enough you can go with like standard presets or you can actually have it run this uh Benchmark mode pretty much analyzes like your uh your gear and then just optimizes all the different settings to make it work for you I actually opt in for Benchmark mode and uh it came with some really good Returns on that we're not really touching silent mode because you could probably guess how that goes performance is not bad it's like around 40 to 50s I think it also depends on like the amount of clutter that's on screen typically like if you're just kind of roaming around you don't really see too many cars so it might fluctuate depending on how many but straight up performance mode after running the benchmark was a solid 60. it was shocking dude it was that was that was impressive that's always like oh you can actually just run and race around and honestly it feel great Hi-Fi Rush Hi-Fi Rush is one of those where I definitely should have like changed resolution settings here and there but essentially what I got with Hi-Fi Rush was having it run at turbo mode right a 1080p medium settings it's not bad I am able to hit 60 frames like with with those settings so it's pretty solid but I feel like I could have tweaked the settings a little bit more in hindsight of course lastly we had to run through a very popular game to test I didn't change much settings except for like setting it like leaving it on turbo mode and then just changing the presets to like either low or medium low helps you just stay above 60 frames that's as much as I can get out of it but you could you could go back and lower the frame rate or rather I'm sorry you could go back and lower the resolution and you'd be totally okay with that I think it would be a much more smoother experience if you actually dialed it down to like 720 and then just like focus on boosting up the frame rate but otherwise if you just want to achieve 60 frames or above uh 1080p turbo low settings that's the preset totally fine so yeah that that's pretty much all the testing I could uh do while it was like docked on I do apologize though because this is definitely still one of the first like instances where like I'm actively thinking about how to adjust the settings in each game to optimize for frame rate and just get like that solid performance whereas I'm a console boy I'm a console boy so literally it's just like what whatever game like runs on this and whatever frame rate they give you is what I'm working with yeah a lot of the testing on this guy was definitely just focused on things on Game Pass PC I do want to do a follow-up and just test out other games like in the future when it comes to like things on steam or even epic games uh if you guys have any recommendations for me to just kind of like check as far as like games and maybe preferred settings uh let me know about that one but otherwise uh this is solid like this is really good I will tell you though uh after all the testing uh each session this guy got hot a lot of the heat was like coming from like in the back here and like up here on the vents if you touch that screen it was pretty hot otherwise uh it was actually pretty comfortable to like just use this as the controller like granted yeah I I had this displayed on a monitor but you can also just like because it because how I set it up it's for screen mirroring uh I was able to use the controls here as I just like look at display and uh it was not bad I didn't actually end up using the the back buttons but otherwise uh triggers and the shoulder buttons were not bad after further testing I would say that these uh these sticks are kind of loose um d-pad's just okay X Y A and B are pretty soft to the touch these are some hard clickable buttons here spend a lot of time pressing this one for the performance check because that's pretty much all the testing I've been doing um and I would love to do a follow-up video with like other like games on different like platforms but yeah what do you guys think after this I'd love to do more testing uh just playing this just handheld without like it being plugged in but all right guys that's gonna be it for me thank you guys so much for tuning in if you guys would please subscribe to the Tanuki Channel we got some uh projects in the works yeah for me personally I am going to be talking about uh a little accessory that came into the mail today we got Phil and he's currently working on some a bit of retro stuff I think you'll really enjoy that and of course Anaya has the Avid Adventures very entertaining stuff to watch especially for someone like him who's never played Final Fantasy VII ever granted I'm also on the same boat but like he's like less of an RPG like Enthusiast than I am so it's very interesting to see him because go through this one but yeah that's pretty much it everybody thank you guys so much for tuning in again and I'll see you guys in the next one
