This is interesting, Franz Kurowski hyping the Panzer Aces seems to be the original Wehraboo and gave origin to plenty of the bullshit we see repeated here.

I love it every time Mr. TΓΆppel appears.

You can feel how upset he is about the bullshit going around

There was no institution of panzer aces, but obviously there were some very highly skilled tankers on the German side, should they survive 5 years of straight combat

What a load of BS. Do you really expect me to believe that all of those poorly made panzer ace infographics aren't 100% truth? Yeah right, get a clue!

hello everyone today we understood God and we have a recurring guest dr. Bowen Chopra hello and we will talk about pentakill claims and what various veterans said about it yeah so you know we talked a bit a few months ago and you mentioned that the various Penta aces have very different opinions on this issue yeah yeah so I asked many Pancer and a solitary strong suits veterans about kill claims and aces and if the key of the pants are the knocked out Panthers were counted and you find on the internet and even in literature you find lists of famous panther races and how many kills they have and many of the veterans told me that these lists are nonsense because many Pancer commanders or many you even units didn't count kills and didn't ascribe them to personal commanders so I for example I asked Otto Carius I met him twice and did interviews with him and you find in both gangs nighters books tiger tigers in combat I found that he claims that carios had 150 or 160 kills yeah and I asked Carrie kaleo's about this and he laughed and he said this is all nonsense I never counted my kills and he said when I when I when I count my personal kills and then you you had I had to count it as a gamma I was a gamma first and then knocked out a few old Soviet model tanks t-26 bt7 but as a commander I didn't really count my knocked out tanks and knocked out tanks and I asked him but if you had to say about how many tanks and he said I don't know maybe about a hundred and he said and I said said Wolfgang Schneider writes that you knocked out hundred and fifty hundred six days in desert tone in the end the next author writes that I knocked out 200 tanks and this is nonsense and another Panther race or Panther commander I asked is Alfred hooble dooble has published his memoirs shortly before he died and I did a lot of interviews he was a course veteran and he was one of my veterans number for one but Ron's I asked about course battle and Panzer tactics and killed claims and he said in in our unit is it was absolutely not usual that that we counted tank at tank kills for several commanders we said tank number one three one has knocked out so many tanks and but did the crew changed you know and I asked and he said I could I couldn't say how many tanks I have killed and there it was this very very famous tank ace in his unit it was cooked nispom and you always find this number he not he's the most famous tank gunner or most successful tank gunner of World War two and he not are 168 tanks and I asked Bob Yulin tobin was his direct superior and he said I wrote the war diary I know everything about conditional I knew him very well he called him Cochin and he told me stories about him and he said is so much so much misconception for instance they write that missile was handed in for the Knight's Cross four times and but he was rejected it's who said this is absolute nonsense because I was responsible for the world of war diary and I know he was never handed in for or recommended for a knight's cross and he said we didn't he did don't know exactly how many kills he have but it's at some point when commanders like Whitman and other potential commanders were awarded declarations and and named in the Wehrmacht report then our superior said okay you are a very successful unit why don't you say we have also tank aces we should take a very a successful commander Organa and say oh we have a Ghana with some many knocked out tanks and he said okay can you spell he could have maybe about 165 tanks and so we gave this as a report but we were not really sure and so he said you will never be sure because no one counted and maybe he has 168 killed the tank kills but maybe not but it was not counted in his unit and my last example is actually one storm Stumbo shoots commander it was tossed now man I knew him very well and I found a list on the internet compiled by Franz Kafka Aaliyah's car call-outs and he wrote me on this list you find host naman with 48 tank kills and I exchanged many letters I saw many times host Norman and I asked him do you know the exact numbers in writing he wrote me a letter and III asked him do you have your do you know how many Soviet tanks you knocked out and I and I said yeah I know the exact number I knocked out 30 tanks 30 tanks and all these claims 48 it's complete nonsense so you see some commanders they counted their kills but it was not usual it was not the majority or I don't know but in some at some point most of these lists are just nonsense I our fourth example story but you see this is not I couldn't prepare this is a yeah little talk questions user and an ant's Bachmann very famous Panzer commander from the skies division and I sent him a letter and I talked to him on the phone and actually he got a bit upset when I insisted that I wanted to know how many tankers yes because I found a number that he had killed 50 or 60 tanks and he said no I never gave a number I didn't count and he was a bit yeah he started to get upset when I repeated about you have to you have to know a rough number and he said no no no please stop this I never counted it I know I have I got an a badge for 50 missions but I never gave any number and I didn't count my tank kills and that's it yeah so I think for for infantrymen men to kill tanks you got patches exactly and but a lot of the patches were sometimes like for how many operations you were like in yeah yeah and successful operations and if you haven't had a tactical success but very few it happened it happened indeed you know famous panther race Misha Whitman and his gunner Balthazar Boyle it happened that they really said Oh Whitman has already hundred and fourteen tank kills so he should be awarded it happened but it is more like an exception yeah normally they got awarded a medal for a successful attack for good tactics and repeated successful attacks and or a deed for worth of Knight's Cross when they had a decisive action somewhere but normally not for a number of tank kills I mean I heard about I read a bit about goodness only on the internet because I'm not that interesting there were some people like noting that all all the other commanders were usually they wanted to attribute the deer kills and crispa like gave away his when there was unsure like this claim that he was like okay I don't care actually you can have my kill or something so this is all kovarsky nonsense Karofsky has written a lot about aquatic initially he even wrote a little book appeal in flexi here maybe it is even an English translation available and I asked I fiddle in it because Kowalski always quotes I play table and I talk to him on the phone I have a few letters and hopeless really got really really upset he said I spoke to Kohath ski once on the phone it was a very short conversation and now I appear time and again in his book as his main source and there's so many conversations that never happen so many claims did are false and I don't know why he quotes me as his primary source and there's so many false information about about kissable but kissable was another video even on on YouTube did you find like a hero he was he knocked out at an SS office and stuff miss pearl it's a bit it's not nice to say that but see what what what who will told me about him he said he was a very nice guy he everyone liked him but he was not really officer material or really a soldier material maybe but he was not he stole from time to time and he snatched things away and he was lacking discipline but not like this like this was used against the Nazis but more like he was not really a soldier yeah and and he that's why they would never have recommended him for being an officer and stuff he was just they said it was coaching and we said okay it's coaching but he was not that hero that gave the grained they they overestimate his position yeah he was just a nice guy he was a gunner and he was not ambitious and he was liked and stupidest this is all Kowalski wanted to make a hero a famous hero out of them but he has was a great dinner but he was not an exceptional good soldier yeah yeah yeah and and be I mean you wrote a paper about Karofsky yeah it is even translated on the internet you can find it for free it's it's for free on the internet before put in a link in the description Karofsky wrote a lot of a lot of books and the problem is that a lot of English academic sometimes quote him because yeah they don't really know what is up to and and a lot of stuff from what I remember from your paper is basically made up already published but not no footnotes and everybody when he started writing historical yeah military historical books he started not by making things up but over the years it got more and more and more and he mixed real reports he had gotten from World War two veterans with made-up stories and the older he got and the more successful he was and he published about 400 or 450 books and then he really just made up stories you can you can read it in on my in my article I have this from several World War two veterans who work or not did not work with Karofsky and said what I never said that yeah he made his up he made it he made it out of the blue he said does he told this complete fiction yeah and the more recent the books are the more nonsense is in them so it was a basically if we go in do will prevail in interval and angular can house it in English in in even top you go with with the guy who is on trial he had a memory error or something could have happened that he didn't intentionally roll up the stuff yep I did but yeah but but no one risk is but this is no excuse because you could say okay maybe he has he go to Ireland just no time to do research but one or two of the veterans even wrote to me that they send corrections to it to the mosque he said I know this is not what I told you and this is not what like what what my comrades told you and he sent Corrections that and and either Kowalski never reacted or he reacted really badly to this yeah like angry and so no he wanted okay lived in his own world and it was part fiction part original so the person's existed the circumstances existed but it's like an ax novel you know when a novel is based on original events okay thank you very much thank you for watching this and see you next time bye bye
