Tricky Culvert Pipe Replacement

good morning sir so gage has come to help me today I've got the mini we got the skid-steer we got elliptical metal pipe up here I got five loads of material I got a touchy excavator somewhere and we're gonna replace a culvert today it's already siphoned the pond down just gone all out on this project a lot of work for one cover pipe but it's got to be done so this is what we got there is a old 18 inch pipe under this roadway that is collapsed clogged or something and when we get a big rain it floods this whole entire side of the road until it pours over and it's washed the road out so it wash the end of the flower out let you see how much muds in it i raked that off the other day to kind of get it to drain out no fun see the pipe or not but it's it's right there in that rock so that's good I got the water down enough so we won't be working in the water phone line phone line power line and there's a water line in here too so I got the mini to kind of skim down to find that power line should be seven feet deep he said they had it board under under all this we shall see when we start skimming down but I won't bring the mini up here and take all this rock and everything up and then we'll start fighting our utilities I got everything we need to to go to work you're sweating I got the air conditioned on here it feels good so we found the first phone line there's a second phone line here water line and power line so what we're doing now I skim down he digs a little bit and I skim down through the depth that he's dug with the smooth bucket and then we just keep working our way down till we find the line I'm gonna keep digging down we'll find the second one and we'll that power line should be seven feet so we shouldn't have to worry about it but I'm still gonna skim abandon found the old power line laying on top of the concrete pipe right you see it right there the new ones board under to the pipes so we're good to go on that there's a hole in the pipe that's the problem right there and phone lines we found another phone line under the phone line beside the other phone line yep that's why I got the mini that's why I got the mini well let me keep on digging Joe is gonna go power one table I now getting everything dug out and taking the big excavator I just took out one section of pipe she's gonna dig him between the lines here get that laid over for me we found another line right there that wasn't located the joys joys of utility work remember that one down there in the middle [Music] here up I'll show it the right there on it [Music] [Music] turn it the other way it won't it won't hang so bad I'll take the Hitachi real quick and dig that out my love button big chunks of concrete in here there you go got at fingerprint on this camera I think there we go probably put the I'm putting the 36-inch bucket on there and probably go in between especially right there because that that one's too big fit in there all right let me tell you one more scoop out we'll do that all right so everything that we were trying to save we saved got the water line power line still down there I'm about to take that concrete pipe out which would be about the closest I'm going to get to that power line there's the old power line that's been disconnected found an extra phone line and then the two activated active ones we don't know which ones which so we just work around both of those but gonna get the take the pipe out and put some gravel in here for a base and then shoot some grades and get the elevation right go ahead and set our a culvert pipe in here ain't that right trench man set the pipe laser up for one joint go out there in the mud and get it look at it that's not gonna happen all right we got our old pipe out ditch cleaned up butt out and got our gravel bedded in there we'll go there and rig up our metal pipe the first 20 foot section and bring it down here let's pan yeah awesome dogs you good are you gonna man it we need to spin it around [Music] thank God once we get it together we can kind of push it and get it centered [Music] there's old hoods are cutting it there know what I got some concrete I'm gonna put over I got canción concrete some fabric it's just the one inch all line the concrete over to hold him [Music] [Music] and reach that high we'll take that to lunch [Music] do we need a sliding back on the pond and slide and everyone is lined up er yeah roll it by [Music] it's been about ten years since I've put one of these in you got it now [Music] [Music] [Music] are you down on your side okay now this is held together with a wrap coupler which is a two piece metal band here at the bolts I can't do that one one-handed because oh look at you can you even see [Applause] what do you get the gasket in there big rubber gasket that holds it together don't forget the blue Lube you got to put the blue Lube on there for ultimate feeling factor alright we'll get this tightened up and going back to it with some 57 stone because it's you can't pretty much can't pop back under here so we'll save this with some stone and some dirt so got the lifting hooks out Conn's hill over the holes silt fence for a little extra protection even though nothing's really ever gonna go through a little one-inch hole that is filled and covered now i'm gonna backfill the pipe with some stone to get at least halfway around so we can get packed up under it and some dirt on the ends to keep the water from going through it here we go so we've got the pipe put in and start spreading some that whole rock around the edges I got a new load right there to the top grass everything starting to get the washed out area filled in and we'll let him come up here and grade all this out and get this leveled up and we'll spread our last load of ABC across everything and I'm going to take this old concrete pipe and lay it out through the pond for a fish habitat this is about the only good piece the rest is all broke and whatever is left of that gravel I'll just not press everything with it [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] all right so we got busy dressing everything up and I didn't get much video but got all the pipe back filled riprap put around it stone spread out over top there it is rock all put around both sides dressed up and there's the driveway tomorrow he wants me to dig all that sediment out so I'm gonna dig all that out and laid up here and let it dry and then in a few months whenever that dries out come back and regrade everything and use some of that stop soil and probably fill in over here and soften this slope some but as you can tell that's where the driveway was washed out before we got that level back up I put all the old pipe out here in the pond and it'll be about two feet underwater makes them get fish habitat there it is quite the improvement in flowed water's flowing through there fine and dandy I think it's really gonna help the problem he had it should be a little over halfway in the water when it's full we kind of had to work around those utilities well there it is 30 foot a 48 inch elliptical metal pipe put in today and around a hundred tons of materials regraded here we go they got a good solid driveway now Marta play in the mud
