Osaka is full of fun things to do with the entire family like any trip it's important to plan ahead so you know what you can expect so that your trip goes as smoothly as possible in this video I'll share how to navigate the city with children and suggest where's the best area to stay I'll also share some fun things to do and some places to eat that the whole family will enjoy at the end of the video I'll share My overall thoughts on whether Osaka is a good spot to travel with the children hope you enjoy your visit to Osaka will likely start at one of the two airports Itami Airport Services mainly domestic flights while casai is the larger International Airport the train system in Osaka is quite robust and straightforward to navigate trains are clean on time and if you travel outside of the peak rush hours can be a very fun adventure for the kids all stations have accessibility elevators which makes traveling with children in tow much easier that being said there were times when the elevators were at the opposite end of the station so I opted to carry the stroller instead I would highly recommend setting up a virtual Suka or pasmo card to your smartphone's wallet instead of carrying a physical card around it is very easy to top up as you can see here and tapping in and out of the train stations is very convenient on street level the sidewalks and walking streets are very stroller friendly and overall I'd say Osaka is very easy to navigate with kids and many points of interest are all within walking distance staying in a central location is key when traveling anywhere with children these specific areas in Osaka offer plenty to do with the donomore area offering some of the most iconic Osaka experiences we stayed a 2-minute walk from kintetsu nippombashi station and like this area because there were countless things to do all within a short walk also you can easily access multiple train lines from here if you're traveling with young kids this hotel is a great choice not only is it clean and thoughtfully designed it has plenty of laundry machines which anyone who travels with children knows is essential the in-house Hot Springs are perfect for relaxing after a day of touring the city and when you're done you can enjoy a free Popsicle or a yogurt the breakfast buffet ended up being the highlight of this hotel offering a wide variety of Japanese breakfast foods I'll leave a link to it below in Osaka there is truly something for everyone I'll take you through four spots that are fun for the whole family kids Plaza located a few train stops from donori kids Plaza is a science museum that emphasizes handson learning there was so much to do and explore here I found I was having just as much fun as the kids were you can easily spend an entire day here just remember that there is no food for purchase inside you'll have to bring some with you from [Music] elsewhere Universal Studios Japan is one of the most popular theme parks in the entire world there are sections here specifically designed for younger children with slower moving rides and indoor play areas we found that the high price point long lines and in our case extreme summer heat didn't make for an ideal toddler outing we'd probably come back only when the kids are much older that being said Super Nintendo World is the newest addition to the park and was pretty cool to see however it doesn't offer much for toddlers to do other than to just walk around the toad stel restaurant was fun but remember if you want to eat here you're going to have to grab a q ticket a couple hours in [Music] advance located just 45 minutes from Osaka's core Nara is a fantastic day trip if the weather is good Japan's first capital city has a variety of temples and parks to walk through the main draw of Nara are the deer that wander freely throughout the town if you're looking to get up close and personal with the deer you can purchase crackers to feed them just be prepared the deers are not [Music] shy close to the main train station there is a Mochi shop where you can watch Mochi being made in the traditional way [Music] so delicious my last suggestion for what to do in Osaka is to walk the streets Osaka is very walkable and there is always something interesting to see by just wandering the streets the main pedestrian only streets are full of vendors attractions and of course lots of people now although it takes a little extra effort to keep an eye on the little ones in the crowds we always felt safe and even late at night if you are early risers like you probably are The Pedestrian streets are perfect for letting the little ones run around as nothing is open till about midday Osaka is considered the kitchen of Japan where you are never too far away from something delicious to eat coron Market is a great area to begin your food adventure with over 150 shops all covered from the elements you and the family can pick and choose from a variety of delicious street foods all at very reasonable prices we really liked how there is something for everyone here and if you like seafood you won't find it more fresh anywhere [Music] else Z fishing restaurant is a fun family dining experience where you can catch your own fish and have it prepared just the way you like it who doesn't like udon especially when you get to eat it off the floor this popular udon restaurant offers a cozy environment with delicious noodle dishes I'll leave a link to both restaurants below [Music] lastly food courts in the shopping malls are definitely a must try with the children especially if the weather outside is unpleasant just be sure to avoid the lunch and dinner rushes as they get quite crowded but otherwise enjoy the vast varieties of food available to [Music] try traveling to Osaka with children is definitely doable like any trip making sure you have a rough idea of what to expect is a big help I would even go as far as saying it's a better alternative than Tokyo as the city is a much more manageable size and offers just enough to do and to see for your time there if you are arriving from overseas I'd suggest not planning anything for the first couple of days while you get over the jet leg choosing a central location is super important so that you are walking distance to a variety of things things to do and eat we traveled during the first week of September and it was extremely hot which made outdoor activities a little bit more difficult but if you're traveling in the summer just expect the high temperatures I hope this video is helpful as you plan your trip to Osaka safe travels and have a great [Music] time [Music] yeah
