I'm going to tell you what I think are I would say defect and must know tips for travelers coming to Korea first off is going to be washrooms things you need to know about Korean washrooms for one thing toilet paper may not always be available many places in Korea including Busan though I would suggest bringing your own tissue you can get the travelers pack of small tissues I would actually get the dry time as well as the wet kind because in public washrooms there may also not be any hand soap if they're in time so commonly it would just be a bar type of pencil and you would have to use the same bar soap as the rest of these people and that far soap is not frequently changed so you may have an issue with it being not a multi genic so in that case you want to bring some more tissues wet tissues with you or some hand sanitizer even some public washrooms I would say many of them have both squatter toilets and fitting toilets now in public washrooms most of them will be marked with outside the door if they are a sinner type or a squatter type you will have the picture and sometimes the words as well squatting or sitting occasionally you also get the fancy schmancy the days but don't be expecting it in all the washrooms next I'm going to talk about transportation because you can't do anything without going somewhere a couple things about transportation for one thing taxis are very cheap in Korea so a 30 minute ride is going to probably cost you less than 20,000 won and keep in mind if you're traveling in a group and you are sitting with multiple people sometimes and you just see worth it to travel in a taxi especially if you're coming from the airport and you've got you know heavy baggage with you I would say all of them credit card I haven't been on one that doesn't accept credit card other ways of paying for transportation your best set when you come to Korea would be to go to a convenience store they are everywhere so before you even step outside of the airport you can probably find a convenience store and that is where you can get the t-money card or the catsby card I think they are around each on one or two dollars there could be some that are a little bit more expensive and they coming up variety of different formats you can either get the card which essentially just looks like a credit card or you can also get nowadays I didn't notice before but now the female with lots of new merchandise so you can get Chi Cheng's but essentially works the same way you cast them they are very small about the size of like a quarter you just strap them to your backpack or to your wallet so I find that actually they are a pretty good option because they're pretty cute and I find that it's easier maybe for some people to have a thing that you can strap on to something versus a card one thing I want to mention about Chi money cards or cash P cards they are the same thing just different brands is that there is a transfer discount which is maybe very helpful for you to know when you are transferring from a subway to eight bucks you can actually get a discount you want the transfer discount before transferring remember to when you get off a bus or off a subway station tap out now this is especially important for buses because in the subway you can't leave unless you swipe so you won't forget to do it but on the bus you can actually leave the bus the doors won't shut on you if you forget to tap off but remember if you want to transfer to the subway or transfer to another bus remember to tap before you get off there will be a capping machine by the back doors as well as the front doors it doesn't matter which one you use you can get on and off the same door just remember you have to tap swipe and then when you tap into the subway you'll actually see that the fare is zero so there is a rule for when you want to transfer use this counter discount between the time you tap off that bus to the subway helps be within 30 minutes there are other rules that apply please visit the visit Korea official website which is the government man man website so if the rules have changed which they might since making this video don't call me okay I do not work for the Ministry of Transportation for Korea so please visit see me visit Korea website with our links in the description box below 1 our fam want to mention about transportation is asked for sure they will save you so much time they will save you so many years so the first one is neighbor map this is really good for all across Korea and it's an app that will give you it's like Google Maps so it will give you maps of addresses it will give you a navigation what do you call it like directions from getting from point A to point B but downside is that it's all in Korean there is no English version so far so you know I would suggest learning a little bit of humble just enough where you can type hungers the other app I suggest into a Seoul Subway app for traveler first time traveler of Korea and you probably want to go check out Seoul first so what was I think a Seoul Subway app so this one is again really good because the full subway system is the most complicated subway in all of Korea so this app is going to be super helpful for you because without it you may just get confused because there's like what 12 lines in the seoul subway so last app i want to talk about the cacao taxi app now this app works I believe all over Korea and it is super super handy for when you want to call a taxi now if you are outside of an airport or you know in the in the downtown city center it might not be hard for you to hail a taxi on the street but if you are going to be taking a taxi from a friend's house or from the hospital or just anywhere where it's hard to normally catch a taxi this app will save you so much time you do not have to walk outside five blocks to the nearest Main Street in the freezing - 10 Seoul winter to find a taxi this app is all you need this is again and as all in Korean the fact that all these apps are in Korean to be dumping for many of you and I can definitely do a demo video on showing you just how you use it if that would be of interest if it is please leave me a comment below but this is all I'm going to talk about for apps in this video moving on next let's talk about eating because probably the first thing on your mind when you come off the airplane so a couple helpful things about eating in Korea for one thing water and fun tongue or the side dishes like your kimchi or radish cute etcetera are often self-serve you may just head into a Korean restaurant and you ask for moves and fail and you realize that the optimism come to your table or they see you and they just turn around and walk away but then you look and you see a sign if the lunasol serve with an arrow pointing down to a water station then you know oh I can get my own water now about ordering most menus will not be in English and they may not even have pictures if you're interested I also did a video a while back on ordering in Korean you can click the I above or check out the description box napkins now there will be napkin sometimes sometimes you really will not have access to napkins on your table so remember BYOD bring your own with you painting okay so this is one crucial thing about eating in Korea you will have to get up from your seat take your bill with you and pay at the counter which is usually located expired the entrance one other interesting thing about eating out in Korea is that if you go with his barbecue houses or they're called Cokie tape you will end up smelling like meat what you can do however is that when you're leaving the restaurant you'll often see them have little spritz bottles of like fabric spray for you conveniently placed outside the entrance so you'll see and I've seen a lot of Korean people just stand there like roles on the Titanic with their arms out like brainy that is what people do so that is what you can do next time you leave the meat house next I will talk about shopping I love shopping if you go into the fitting room you will often see people put their shoes outside of the actual salt people will ask you the shop staff will ask you to take your shoes off before entering the stall also many times you'll be provided with a something that looks like a jacket cover like a sheer fabric piece of fabric what that is it's for you to put over your head so that your makeup will not smudge so if I'm trying on a turtleneck or any clothing really and pulling it over my head undoubtedly inevitably I will have makeup smushed onto the collar and it's just a way for them to protect their clothes because you don't want to buy some clothing with another first but stick on it so don't do that to the clothes now what you really want to know is hey Glenn am i right so many places in Korea you can tangle however of course that excludes department stores nakatome but in underground mall so in all the stores in the subway stations or street stalls or if you go to the home Daymond Michael sort of open area public like markets you can haggle so here is really the only phrase you need to know when you want to Hegel all you say is very cutely and politely you can say a second sale and this means please give me a discount please give it to me for cheaper okay and that I think you probably want to know is accommodation so I only have two sips for you one is airbnb.com this is the best lift site I think for finding cheap accommodation cheap yet decent accommodation um before you come to Korea so Airbnb don't worry this is not a Korean website it is all in English and most of the hosts will speak English what's good about Airbnb is that it is cheap for one thing so usually I me and my friends we just stay in Seoul in the central areas like home day or calm them near the subway areas and so very nice location for about 30 or 40 or sometimes $20 a night so very cheap very nice and they're very clean and generals and it's just like a hotel they will you should provide you with towel hairdryer you know shampoo and body wash often times you know you'll have all your pillows and seating and it's like a hotel but it's more of like a bed and breakfast file except maybe without breakfast so having recommend checking out Airbnb now the other option for you is to go to rent a cozy one now this is even cheaper than Airbnb and I suggest this for people who are same for the long term like if you plan on going to school in Korea or attending you know a seminar or whatever that's more than a week and you want some really cheap stay then go for the go see ones they are essentially really just a small room with the bed sometimes a desk and that's it you know shared washroom in the whole floor it's like a dormitory style but it's not bad usually it should be clean it's just provides you with you know the blankets and pillows so if you're not really picky then you can probably try out goshiwon you can get them for as low as like 15 a night I haven't actually stayed in the Goshen one so I can't really give you much information but you can go out to Google a clonk neighbor and type in go see one and see what you get next thing is trash cans will be hard to find so remember what I said things that you should get when you're writing Korea's number one transportation card and the other one versus you wet tissue and dry fish you want other things that would be nice to being with you is a pouch or like a plastic bag or some some something of that sort just a small one for you to put your oh this lock bags would be perfect bring them with you to just one in your purse when you're going out because garbage cans may be hard to find and that is the end of my video I just checked to see if I brought everything covered and I have I hope that this was helpful for you and if there's anything else you want to know about this topic you know traveling in Korea I keep in mind but I've only really been to Busan and one soul and Gyeongju Academy oh and did you have we saved for other places but for sure I'll try telling you as much as I know what I know and yes leave me your comments give me a thumbs up if this was helpful for you and please subscribe to my channel for more videos about trends and curiosity in Korea
