That was helpful, but holy shit they could have made that a 2 minute video. Commencal doesnโ€™t have much to compare/contrast the AM and TR.

Trail: Welcome back, you beautiful people. I'm Trail Bike Blake, but you can call me TBB for short. Enduro: Welcome back, you beautiful people, I'm Enduro Bike Blake. By the way you nick my words, man. Trail: They're my beautiful people, not yours. Enduro: No, don't you start. Trail: Prove it. Enduro: If that guy wasn't there, I would have hurt you by now. Trangel: Hi. I'm your trail angel, but you can call me Trangel for short. We have two different bikes. They're trying to define themselves on the mountain trails. Some of us get confused on what is a trail bike and what is an enduro bike. Thanks to our friends at Commencal, they've given Trail Blake, the Meta TR 29 and Enduro Bike Blake, the Meta AM 29. It's time to define what these two bikes are all about. [music] Hello. It's your trail angel here. In today's proceedings, we will be timing the two Blakes on three courses, an uphill, a trail loop and a downhill. Let's start with an uphill. [music] Hi, guys. Trail: Hi. Enduro: Hi. Trangel: Are you ready? Trail: I'm ready. Trangel: Trail Bike, are you ready? Because you're going to go first. Trail: Yes. Trangel: Okay. Great. On your marks, get set, go. [music] Are you ready, Enduro Blake? Enduro: Yes, I'm ready. Trangel: Three, two, one, go. [music] You are actually looking good as well. [music] Trail: That's hard work. That is hard work. I'll see what Enduro Blake's got. Can I [unintelligible 00:03:00]? [music] Taking his time. No, here he is. You look dead. [laughs] You look absolutely dead. Enduro: I am dead. I am dead. Trail: I got 3.12. What did you get? Enduro: 3.93. Trail: All right. Feeling all right? Enduro: No. Trangel: Enduro racing riding takes place on long arduous courses. There are transitional segments also known as liaisons that need to be ridden, but you're not timed on them. The time segments themselves are predominantly downhill and it's always on a very technical terrain. Enduro bikes are essentially heavy duty or mountain bikes specked up to handle the brutal racing conditions. The geometry on Enduro bike is designed around descending in mind. For example, Meta bike mountain has a 63.63 degree head angle for confidence when you point it down through your steep and rough, and a climbing friendly 78.5 degree seat angle, keeping a body weight between the two wheels. Combine this geometry with a Burly Fox 38 mil fork, a Shimano XT 1x12 transmission with a huge 500 10% gear range and serious braking anchor power from Shimano XT4 pop brakes and you've got one hell of a weapon for Enduro racing and riding. [music] This challenge is a trail loop that consists of punchy climbs, descents, jumps and everything above. We're going to put both the riders and their rigs through their paces. Are you ready, Trail Bike Blake? Trail: I'm ready, Trangel. I'm ready. Trangel: Three, two, one, go. [music] Trail: I'm done. That was muddy. I got snot coming out of everywhere. Snot. Oh, it was muddy. Okay. Trangel: Enduro Bike Blake, are you ready? Enduro: I'm ready, my trail angel. Trangel: Three, two, one, go. [music] Enduro: Done. That is hard work. Dude, the recovery right now is for real, bro. Trail: It is, man. Enduro: I can still taste blood in my mouth from that. That was so odd. Trail: Me too. Me too, dude. That was difficult. Enduro: That was so, so odd. Time-wise? Trail: Time-wise? Enduro: I got no times. Trail: We don't know, do we? Trangel? Enduro: Trangel. Trail: Trangel. [background noise] Trangel: Gentlemen, yes, you both did very well, but it all comes down to the times, doesn't it? Trail Bike Blake, you did it in 43.56. Trail: That's good time. That's pretty good time. That' pretty good. Trangel: Enduro Bike Blake, you did it in 45 and 2 seconds. Enduro: It was hard. Trangel: You were slower. Enduro: It was hard. Trangel: It was hard going. Yes. Look at you. Well done. Not all is lost. Enduro: Better luck next time. Trangel: Get some recovery. Enduro: Yes. We'll move on. [background noise] Trangel: The trail between bike sits between the XC bike and the Enduro bike, handling balance perfectly to suit climbing and descending, but will happily whistle along flatter terrain without feeling lethargic. The Meta TR has a climbing, friendly sea angle of 78.6 degrees and a relaxed 64 and a half degree head angle. The versatile Shimano transmission means is equally at home on techy climbs as it is bombing through rough terrain. Thanks to fork suspension. It's got the big old forks 36 on the front and a float shock on the rear. Once up to speed, the two part XC brakes and larger disc rotors keep things under control. Now, trail bikes are not quite as twitchy as XC bikes, but they're not quite as relaxed as an Enduro bike. Really, this is the MTB for everyone, but it's also worth noting that some trail bikes follow the geometry favoring the Enduro bike end of the spectrum. Also, others lean towards the XC side. [music] Are you ready, Trail Bike Blake? Trail: I'm ready, Trangel. Trangel: All right. In three, two, one. Go. [music] Trail: That's my race run. Let's see what Enduro Bike Blake's got. Trangel: Enduro Bike, are you ready? Enduro: Yes. Trangel: In three, two, one, go. [music] Enduro: Back to Trangel. Give us the times, man. Trangel: Gentlemen, the times, you don't know them, do you? Enduro: No. Trangel: Trail Bike Blake, you did it in 1 minute 12 seconds. Trail: Yes. Trangel: Well done. That was great. Well done. Pretty quick. Enduro Bike Blake, you did it in 1 minute 9 seconds. Yes. Sorry. Anyway-- There is one bike we're missing out on. Do you know what it is? It's the Clash. If you want a big-hitting, capable, and versatile bike, but you're all about ripping rather than racing, you definitely want to be considering a bike park shredder over an Enduro race bike. I'm going to throw a spanner into the works. Take a look at this. This is the all-new design Commencal Clash with new geometry and new kinematics. This bike does it all. Enduro, downhill, bike parks, chilled rides, even riding some technical trails with ease. Unlike the other two bikes being 29er, this is a 27.5 and this thing is a beast. Talk about beast, the travel on this, on the front is 180 mil of travel with that Fox 38. On the rear is this Fox DHX2 with 170 mil of travel. [music] Speaker 1: Back to them, two idiots. Trail: I've told them my words. Enduro: They're my beautiful people. Trail: They're my beautiful people. Enduro: My beautiful people. Trail: Stop it. Enduro: My beautiful people. Stop it. Trail: They know they're my-- Enduro: My beautiful people. Trail: Come on. Somebody talk tome. These are my beautiful people and you're just there-- Enduro: They're my beautiful people. Trail: Just stop trying. Enduro: They're my beautiful people. Trail: Let's agree to disagree, okay? Enduro: Yes, okay. Trail: Perfect. There you go. That is Trail versus Enduro. The Trail bike is perfect for long, epic adventures where the trails are mellow, flat. You need to gain your speed. You can pedal. You've got a lot of climbs. They're great in the climbs. When it comes to gnarly trails, these things are capable. I can go down some gnarly rough stuff and not worry about being underbiked. When it comes to bigger jumps, maybe it's a bit more for this guy. Enduro: It's exactly right. The Enduro bike. Now, Enduro bike, when it comes to gnarly alpine trails, this thing is super capable, big, long descents. You can still climb to the top with ease and still continue to do so, but when it comes to big jumps, this is-- You're not going to feel underbiked. This bike can take a hell of a lot. I'll tell you what, that Clash, Blake, is unreal. Trail: Oh, yes. I think he's super steezy, bro. Enduro: Super steezy, bro. I'll see you later beautiful people. Trail: Pop it. Enduro: Come on, mine, dude. Beautiful people are mine. Trail: They're mine. Enduro: No. Trail: They're mine. You're not even there. Look, there's no one there. There is actually no one there. I'm just talking to my damn self. [laughs] Enduro: Hey. Trail: Oh, he's back. Go away. He's gone. See you later, beautiful people. [00:15:07] [END OF AUDIO]
