all righty the tale of three grills and my French Bulldog so here do we go here we go it start 2016 started with a Trager Junior pretty good grill no issues other than that it fluctuates about 50 degrees and I've had a contact trigger customer service in 2016 and get a new controller still fluctuates not a bad grill a good starting grill have used this thing quite a bit super dirty you need to clean that baby that is the trigger Junior now let's fast forward to 2019 here is the trigger century 34 Costco model purchased it thinking I was getting a substantial upgrade from the junior only to realize it has been an enormous downgrade let's take a look shall we there's a warming drawer or as I call it the heat robbing drawer this particular grill will not maintain temperature will not reach 450 degrees as designed and it will take 30 to 40 minutes to get to 300 degrees this particular grill ship with the incorrect probe from Traeger it came with this little puny probe and I had to install the larger probe as you see there didn't fix it still bad had a contact trigger again waiting for a brand new controller that has old backordered about a month and a half so reoccurring theme with trigger bad controller bad controller and there you go this particular model in general that warming drawer I have a feeling Robb's this grill of heat it is one of the only triggers that have this particular feature and it's a feature that I would stay away from I guess a trigger you know they give you this big beautiful black grill and if you look under the lid apparently this could all pass quality assurance and this is more of a decorative feature because this could all was not looked over being shipped with the wrong probe and bad components yeah this particular grill will be going back to Costco looks like I'll be stuck with that shelf that I ordered as an accessory but it is what it is next up the rec tech Bowl the replacement for the century 34 built this grill put it together no issues reach temperature was put together well in terms of the quality difference there's no there's no comparison zero comparison and just in terms of transparency just so you understand this has been purchased with my money okay I'm not being sponsored by anybody or anybody that I'm being sponsored by is maybe Disney Chase visa so I can get points that's it so what is it a difference between a rec tech and a Trager well let's just be honest the material difference is substantial in contrast to the bull the Traeger is is like a tin can and the rec tech is like a safe it just is what it is this particular grill has exceeded my expectations in every single way imaginable as of this filming June 2019 his particular rec tech as the newest leg update I guess or iteration of the grill you could see the legs are slightly canted outward and then it has a brace on the side and it just introduces a lot more stability into the girl when you move it that's the bowl I'm just thoroughly impressed how this grill went together the materials that are it's constructed from I mean even such simple things as you put the as you put these girls together you realize even the hardware okay and how thick the material is on the bowl versus how puny okay and and thin the material here is you know on the smokestack just little things little things there's also a huge weight difference I think about about almost 70 to 80 pounds should give you a good clear indication as to which grill is heavier which will be the bowl and so that's that looks like the century for be going back to Costco in terms of the newer triggers the Timberline series some other ones that I've seen at my local big-box store like at Home Depot they look slightly different but in terms of the quality the materials they're still the same they're still identical they just look slightly different and the you know like I said this has truthfully been an eye-opener for me if you're looking at getting one of these grilles personally speaking you know start off with a small grille like the junior and then if you really like it you can transition to a larger grille I would say that it's a no brainer the REC tech Bowl is a substantially superior product in every way shape or form I think since 2016 when I initially called Traeger for customer service on the little guy to 2019 their customer service has slipped I think they've become more popular since their introduction into Home Depot and the big-box stores and other outlets that their quality is just not there and their customer service is horrendous when I call for the century 34 which is that guy right there second sentence out of the lady's mouth was Oh can you return the grill meanwhile all the literature in the box says please call us prior to returning so that's that was definitely very interesting second sentence can you return the grill nine-day difference from somebody who is purchased all three of these grills not sponsored by anybody and it's an honest review so if you're looking at any of these I would say that the bowl is the winner hands-down in terms of quality PID controller craftsmanship and materials I'm totally shocked at the quality of the wreck Tech stay safe happy grilling
