hello and welcome to landal laps hot hatch is on my right the Yaris gr the hatch of the moment on my left a green bin because the car I had up against it sadly dropped out we're going to sort that out and by the time you see the film there will be a split screen head-to-head not against the bin [Music] nice this is L laps hot hatches this is true mat I think go to your left one good step here we go and action so how are we doing this well for parity every car will be driven by me I know I'm not the fastest driver and I put a bit of Timber but frankly it's my show so I'll do the driving love it cut great that is making me angry that bagget is that raw Pepper eating this is straight up red pepper terrible mate and also gives you terrible heartburn really yeah they're evil things Bell PE raw bell pepper should be banned put it in a salad what else can you taste or you can taste it's a bell pepper salad then isn't it there's nothing else you taste overpowering you put you put sweet corn in there put anything in there all you're going to taste is bell pepper I might kick that out of your hand now just an inch worth of ham in here though all you can taste is the pepper isn't it they're an invasive species they're the Japanese knotweed of salad getting ready to wash cars bit shampoo getting the old buckets loaded up my name's James I run a company called ti22 um we've been detailing and pping cars in the area for like 15 years now most of the cars have turned up from manufacturers but the the collecting cars yars is dirty so we'll give her a clean it must be the only standard Ys GR in the country yeah I think we should put an exhaust on it [Music] person the whole thing with car cleaning detailing really you want to get as much of the dirt off the car without contact washing as possible to avoid what we call swirl marks or any light damage to the paint this is called snow foam for obvious reasons car's quite dirty letting it dwell and then we'll give it a good blast off and then we'll get into cleaning the dirtier areas like the wheels and we'll wash it [Applause] normally uh I need it now as possible thank you yeah no worries all yours cuz typical the one they want is high um this is its rival uh a bin and there's nothing too cryptic here the car i' booked in to go against the Aris drop down that's what happens when you film stuff so at the moment we're going to substitute it in an amus way with the bin um it's a bit like the tub of lb for Roy Hatley on uh on have I got news for you so um after this I'm going to post on Instagram saying if you've got hatchback come to landow and race a Yaris gr so I'm looking Honda Civic typar maybe a Focus RS something like that um so I'm now going to introduce this piece to camera with one car in it can I be me small but surprisingly heavy 1310 kg but it's got 261 horsepower from that wonderful little 3 cylinder 1.6 L engine the bin on the other hand is going to be replaced by a gorgeous 1963 Swift tune Mini Cooper on paper it looks like the odds are heavily against it it has half the power but it weighs under half that of the Yaris couple this with the Mini's legendary cornering and that may well turn the tables let the fight begin the power of social media I wanted arrival for GI Yaris and my mate bought his mini down it's called a Cooper and so is he called Cooper it's a lovely symmetry there right it's a hatchback he got a back and this that's like a hatch there's room in there that's a hatchback you can get a suitcase yeah it's sort of indistinguishable from a Honda Civic it is a 1963 original Mini Cooper S it's now um an FIA appendix K historic racer it's got historic papers so it was originally built by Swift tune who produce all the racing Mini engines for Goodwood this was their first Works car and it was for sale on 1 cars auction site in the summer and with about 15 minutes to go to the end of the auction one Friday evening summer I saw it and I thought that looks really nice I could have that we could have fun with it so I put it in a bid and ended up with it and then we thought well what actually what do we do with it so it's been rebuilt by Swift tune and sat in one of the sheds and we thought we ought to go and use it so we took it to Goodwood this week for a track day it was brilliant wasn't it you guys had a fantastic time in it yeah it's super fun fun it's just super fun it's just such a lovely it's like a grownup go-kart we go no no no it won't start with your foot on the clutch no it won't turn over I just told you that it wouldn't start how much power has it got uh it's got about 130 horsepower uh in the wet in these tires there's nothing at the front really nothing at the front yeah it's going to be and you won't get any heat in them um it's got a handbrake what could possibly go wrong thank you what's the uh is that supposed to be bent well it is now I didn't do that done to my beautiful little car it's like that no it's that why is it got a kink there I don't know can't let any of my nice things right let's go everything else oh hang on you want that screen i b off more than I can chew here uh like have you driven this in the rain Yes on Wednesday in Goodwood hilarious was it it's just was it the back the back even move around or not oh it does yeah back mov had a lot it's great if you want something to dry it properly just you know I'll be over there I shut the door [Music] yes I just need to go John yeah okay it's [Music] who oh his Bonnet came [Music] up someone forgot to put the Bonnet down or someone forgot to do it back up again yeah out okay so this is our first lap with the mini the standing water it's got no ABS there's no traction control it is like as bad as it gets he's not going fast enough okay are we ready this a beginner right I'm in a swift tune mini didn't expect to be here these are fantastic let's see what it could do it's now flashing with rain no ABS fantastic weeding little G the best thing I've given all day Wonder where's the wiper that foot break get the nose in it's [Music] m I can't really bounce the Cur has got no suspension it's just leaping around it's like s on the back of a Labrador fantastic car get the puddle come on little girl what a thing what a thing 87 mph through the speed speed trap massively impressive best fun car you can have that was and is just an experience absolutely love it absolutely love it so much fun if the mcaren makes you just P yourself this just makes you grin what a machine thank you Chris Cooper for bringing your mini along it this have a track pack on it this one just shouting to the crew to work out if it's a circuit pack car or not can you tell from the outside it it is there you go hot off the press it's a circuit pack car so this is the collecting cars yarus it's um it's a very Metropolitan car lives its life in Trendy Fulham at the office um gets driven by everyone probably used and abused but they are fantastic cars and in this weather you'd think it might take care of a mini but you never know you never know a that's exactly how I was driving it on uh Wednesday yeah TOA gr Yaris I mean fast as you know what on any road it's wet today this could be Yaris country here we go [Music] [Music] got so much front end it's at low speed and medium speed that the AR feel almost absurdly grippy then you think well why isn't I got another 150 horsepower just kind of flat out everywhere now what kind of LP time is this going to put in here today stay on fourth gear I think we can just Monster the curbs can't we yeah just smashed it oh dear I think we're about to embarrass super cars aren't we the cack [Applause] flooded I hate to think five that was it might have even been a low 50 that let the scrap begin here we go in the lashing R there we go [Applause] [Music] ha come on old [Music] girl hey Chris the mini Super S did it in 58 56 and the yis did it in 4998 oh 40 wow 4998 this is the company hack it's done 14,230 Mi so if you're on a wet Road don't tangle with a Ys grr unless you're in a mcclaron 750s you need to be an almost a hyper car I know we've lost the science here but I do love it when the little cars win and that mini was [Applause] Sensational where are the sweeties what are you doing there I just looking for sweeties you must you know I did have some you have any sweeties I've eaten all the fruit gums oh dear um thank you for bringing it it's outrageous it's fantastic isn't it it's a bit Lively in the wet in the in the dry I reckon it would give the Aris run for its money around here easily it's just unbelievably grippy the McLaren was doing 126 down the back straight yeah 87 that was doing good little mini he's D he's driven it here from the other side of the country to be
