today we'll be replacing a left wheel hub and bearing on a 99 toyota camry and we'd like to give special thanks to gmb for providing the replacement parts we're replacing these bearings because the left side is making a high pitch whining noise when we make a right hand turn at speeds above 40 miles an hour we're going to detach the steering knuckle from the suspension strut so that we have enough room to pull the cv axle out of the wheel hub [Music] now if you have a hard time getting the rotors out you can use a 12 millimeter bolt that secures the brake line to the strut and screw that into one of the two holes of the rotor to force the rotor off the hub okay that's a 30 millimeter six point nut so i'm going to take that off my impact socket okay loose if the cv axle is stuck to the hub what you want to use is a punch so you just take the punch with a hammer and hammer it this way just get it loose here we go now i'm going to turn the steering wheel to the right so i can get easier access to the tie rod end i'm going to detach the tie rod end away from the steering knuckle and then i'll remove these two bolts that holds the strut to the knuckle take this okay you've got a little gap forming right in there it's just about out and there it is clean this up there's a spring clamp right in here i'm going to use my heavy duty clip removal tool there it is so this tool grab the edges like this now that clip has been removed we push the bearing from the outside in out of the steering knuckle so we got to find the right size bushing to accommodate removing this bearing out see this one seems a little too small that should be about right so this sleeve will accommodate this new bearing the diameter so this is what we'll use to force the old bearing of our race into this is a 27 millimeter bolt head and this pushing screw here is 32 millimeter and this impact driver produces up to 1400 foot-pounds of torque so don't attempt to do this unless you have an impact tool with a lot of torque i'm not going to provide continuous torque i'm going to provide intermittent force and then see how much the bearing is moving take a little break a lot of torque you can see it's starting to move all right we're done here [Music] there it is bearing stuck a little bit in the sleeve just punch it out so we cleaned up any corrosion build up inside here and put some penetrating oil now we're ready to press in the bearing find the appropriate size collar that meets his diameter yeah that should work oh okay okay here we go sometimes if you hammer it it sort of helps it along if there's a little dog going in we just have to go a little bit more so we can't push the hub all the way through but we'll get it started and complete the pressing of the hub with the cv axle attached so we put this back on so use an adapter that's as close as possible to diameter the interior of this hub right here so go like that ugh okay and then bottomed out on the adapter in the rear the hub stops when it makes contact with this adapter and this part of the adapter is putting pressure on the inner race over here until it's flush with the hub so the remainder of the hub gets pressed in once we attach the cv axle that should extend that's going to get pushed in and it's pressing against here this part of the cv axle easy enough now we'll install the dust shield and use this adapter to do it i'll line it up with the abs hole and just give it a few taps with a hammer now put the cv axle back in okay now we'll seat the rest of the hub so you're gonna see this move in a little bit to give you an idea how much it's moving i got this paint mark right over here so just observe the paint mark okay that's it it's not moving torque the cv axle nut to 180 foot-pounds and we're done
