- What's up, everybody? It's Enes here, and welcome
to Malibu, California. On this week's episode, we're touring this newly constructed modern ranch-style home right behind me facing the amazing views
of the Pacific Ocean. Now, this home is the first
zero carbon certified home here in California, and
we're gonna talk about what that means later in the video. Here are the specs of this property, and it is currently on the
market for $32 million. As always, we will leave more
information about the home down in the description of this video. And before we start our tour, I wanna thank the developers
from Marisol Malibu and the listing agents, Scott
Morris and Patrick Boyle for giving us a chance to
tour their amazing listing and share it with all of you. And now, let's begin our tour. (ambient music) (upbeat music) We have Scott Morris here who is one of the developers
of this amazing project. Scott, first off, thank
you for having us here. - Thank you for coming. - It's been an amazing
day, property is stunning, and I wanna start off with asking you what was your vision, or
the developer's vision designing this home? - We knew that we were gonna
build this, right, Enes? But we figure that business
should be a force for good. This home essentially emits a net of zero. And when 39% of global CO2 emissions are devoted to the
building industry alone, we realized if we were gonna build it, we had to build it better. (upbeat music) - We're gonna start our tour on the exterior of this property. House is nicely set back
from the street level, and we have this long private driveway that brings us to this point. As you're driving up to the property, everything is beautifully landscaped. In fact, they have
planted 317 mature trees on this property. The developer spent $2
million for landscaping alone, which is amazing. And over here, Mikey, we can see the peak of
the Pacific Ocean view. I mean, this is phenomenal. - [Mikey] Beautiful. - Now, continuing our tour, we have the driveway leading
us to the four-car garage. And on that side, we even
have a basketball hoop. I wanna mention a couple more things. House is situated on a slight hillside. That's why we have all
these stone retaining walls throughout the property. Again, landscaping here
is just phenomenal. We have this mountain right behind us. It's super peaceful, tranquil,
and soothing up here. Now, I wanna bring
everybody's attention to here, to the house itself. Beautiful modern ranch-style
architecture, single story. We have a standing seam roof above us. And focusing back to the walkway, we have these two beautiful
trees framing up this walkway, straight to the front door, and I'm sure at night,
they light up beautifully. Now, focusing here, Mikey, I wanna talk about the exterior clad. We have Accoya wood paneling detail that we're gonna see
throughout this property. It gives it a nice warmth, and we have the LED
channels on the floors here that goes all the way into the interiors, glass pivot door here. Let's go inside. Now, as soon as you
walk into this property, the first thing you see is
this incredible great room that runs almost the entire
length of this property. On each side we have two
temperature-controlled wine cellars that hold up 800 bottles,
which is super cool. It's also a nice feature to look as you walk into the property. And around the corner, we have this door opening up
to a spacious powder room. Now, this powder room is little bit bigger than the ones we're used to seeing. I love the vanity design here with this offset cabinetry, drop-in sink with a corner drain, wall fixture, your mirror is nicely
recess into the wall. And on each side, we have this
colorful wall sconce detail that lights up the room, and around the corner,
we have the water closet. Now, getting back out and going back to the entry of this property, we have another hallway that takes us to the other side. Hallway closet, and this door opens up to the junior primary bedroom. Now, this is an extremely spacious room. We have the king size bed
on this side facing the TV and each one of the bedrooms, or even the common spaces in this house gets ton of natural light. In this case, we have an
open corner design here. We currently have all
the sliding glass doors tucked into the walls. Of course you have your automatic shades, but the best part about this bedroom, you lay down here and you look
towards the Pacific ocean. It's phenomenal. - [Mikey] Yeah, it's pretty awesome. We have that great pool in the backyard. It's kind of calling my name, but we'll get out there in a minute. - We'll get out there in a minute. Also, Mikey, another detail on the exterior facade,
you can actually see some of the areas finished
in board form concrete, and I love that that detail
wraps into the property so you get a nice texture and
contrast on the interiors. Now, we have a pocket door
here opening up to the bathroom for this room, oversized
tiles on the floors. We have a double vanity set up here. Around the corner, freestanding
tub with a Chrome fixture, and of course you even have
an open corner design here. That way you can enjoy your
outdoors, even in your bathroom. Now, focusing on to the vanity set up, flat panel cabinetry, stone countertops, and this vanity set up here
extends out to this side, servicing as a prep or makeup area. Around the corner, we have
an open walk-in shower with Chrome fixtures, built-in bench. And at the end of this bathroom we have the water closet here and the hallway leads you
to a spacious walk-in closet that you can customize however you like. Now, I wanna take everybody
back to the bedroom. Again, sliding glass doors all
opened up facing the views. And I wanna talk about
the hardwood floors here. They're American white oak. And instead of an 8-ply,
they're actually 11-plies, which means they're super
durable and you can see them throughout the great room. Now, Mikey, let's step towards this side. I wanna talk about this first
seating area off of the entry, L-shaped couch set up accompanied with these two
beautiful purple chairs. The furnishings in this
house is really exquisite. In fact, it actually comes
with the sale of the home and the seating set up here
is facing the fireplace here. Now, I said fireplace, but
Mikey, let's get a close up. This one is actually
water vapor fire feature, or just a really cool feature
to look at, which is awesome. - [Mikey] Yeah, this
house was actually built extremely sustainably and they decided to put
this feature in here because they wanted to
leave zero footprint and have zero carbon emissions. So it's an interesting feature. - Zero carbon certification means that the energy
coming into this home needs to be 100% renewable. Secondly, the embodied carbon of all the construction materials from the concrete to the steel needed to be offset all
the way down to zero. And we did that with this home. - I mean this zero carbon
approach goes into the utilities and some of the amenities
of this property, right? Tell us a little bit about that. - Some of the utilities that we used to accomplish our zero carbon
strategy were the fireplaces. They're actually water vapor fireplaces. So they're not emitting
anything, they're safe. Another thing was the water heaters. Instead of using propane
to heat your water, we are using CO2 refrigerant. Essentially, we're
pulling CO2 out of the air to heat our water. (ambient music) - So they don't have any gas lines. In fact, it brings a lot of advantages. Look above this assembly here,
Mikey, that stone clad. It doesn't have to run all
the way to the roof line because they don't have any chimneys, - [Mikey] Yeah, it's really cool. - Super cool, I love
the seating area here, and Mikey, let's pull back
because right on the other side, we have a small dining area
here with a wall sconce kind of a chandelier feature, additional sliding
glass doors on this side facing the views. I mean this great room, the main part of this
home is truly stunning. I feel like I wanna keep
talking about this area. I love the steel roof beams. Again, three skylights bringing so much natural light to the space. If you can look towards
the end of this room, we have a massive
steel-cased glass assembly leading to the outdoors. And what's so impressive about
the space is the fact that we don't have any columns or any walls breaking the space and the flow. Now, I wanna take everybody here. Behind this wall, we have a small hallway that connects us to the kitchen or connects us to this hallway here. At the end we have the door
leading us to the garage. This door opens up to another powder room. And coming back here, we
have some built-in closets and this door opens up
to the first bedroom. Same hardwood floors, we
have the bed set up here, walk-in closet. And around the corner,
you have a full bathroom, with a walk-in shower. And lastly, it leads you to
the backside of the property, where we have the gardens. We're gonna check that out in a minute. Now, Mikey, also within
this section of the home, we have the laundry room,
two washers, two dryers, you get a sink, and some
additional cabinetry. Now, coming back to the
hallway around the corner, we have a hallway closet and
this door takes us to the gym. We have all your gym equipment here, weights, rowing machine, Peloton. We have mirrored walls, and
throughout the property, we have all these sliding glass doors and these massive windows
with automatic shades. And in this case, this sliding glass door leads us to the backside of the property, where we have the gardens
and the retaining walls. This side is super cool. We're gonna check out in
detail later in the video. Now, Mikey, let's take everybody
back to the common areas. Again, property is stunning, single story. So it's easy to walk around
and appreciate the space. And coming back here, we have
the kitchen in front of us. What I love about the space is the fact that it's located right in
the center of this home. We have four islands framing
this part of the kitchen here, glass cabinetry contrasting with more of the darker wood tones on this island here and the base cabinets. It's super spacious. You get so much storage space and so much entertainment areas. We have the first sink here
facing your amazing ocean views. It's interesting because we
just had the clouds roll in, but we have the Pacific
ocean right in front of us. And across from this kitchen, we also have this dining area here. And again, sliding glass doors leading you to the covered patio space. Now, a ton of cabinetry here. First, Miele dishwasher. And continuing our tour, we
have the third island here and all these islands are
positioned with bar seating, that way you can entertain,
have friends over and dine within your kitchen. Now, we have more base
cabinets on this side, built-ins, oven set up,
espresso maker, another oven. And coming back here, we have
the main or the center island with induction cooktop, Miele pop-up vent. Again, from your kitchen, you look at the amazing ocean views. Now, I wanna focus on
this side for a second. This is where we have
the second dishwasher, your second sink, and an
automated sliding glass window tucks into the wall here and opens up this part of the kitchen to
the amazing outdoor dining area that we have on the
backside of the property. That space is phenomenal and we're gonna check
it out in just a bit. Now, cabinetry continues. We have the paneled freezer, and paneled, check this out, fridge here, good size. - [Mikey] I love a well-staged fridge. - That's right. Now, Mikey, we have
additional cabinetry here and this opening leads
us to the chef's kitchen. You pretty much have
everything you need here. Miele induction cooktop, tucked
in vent, upper cabinetry, additional dishwasher on this side, you get your third sink here, and more built-ins on this side with a fridge and a freezer. And Mikey, before we step outside, I wanna mention this detail here. This house has a raised foundation system. That way you have crawl
spaces underneath the flooring throughout the property, and these are some of the access points. And you may see them throughout the house. - [Mikey] Like a
suspended slab, basically. - That's right.
- Very nice. - Now, Mikey, we have this exterior door opening up to this awesome
outdoor dining area, Tuscan-inspired dining area. I love the pergola design here
with vines, outdoor lighting, space heater. Something about the space is super cozy and we have crushed
granite on the floors here and it brings you to your garden that's located on the
backside of the property. We have all these planters. Around the corner, you
can actually see the gym and the first bedroom
that we toured earlier. Mikey, you look at the space. You can grow your own vegetable, fruit. Since we're located on a hillside, we have this retaining wall. Again, mature trees all around us. And check this out, around
the corner, we have beehives because you can actually
harvest your own honey on this property, which is amazing. And on top of that, developers are giving you
two years of free maintenance of your landscaping and your grounds here. That way you can learn, as the owner, how to maintain and operate this property and take full advantage of it. - [Mikey] Yeah, that's
a really unique detail. I don't think we've
ever seen like beehives or honey operation on a property before. - Never before, and it's kinda nice because this is the
lifestyle around here, Mikey. You grow your own vegetables,
eat and live healthy and enjoy the ocean views. - [Mikey] Yeah. - Now Mikey, we have this door. We're gonna take an interesting tour here and go into the screening room. It's another cozy space that's facing the
backside of the property. We've got this couch set
up here facing the screen, projector above. I love the cove lighting detail here, softens up the space and
gives it nice warmth. Same hardwood floors are also here and we have some built-in
cabinetry and your candy bar. Good-size screening room. Now, since we came into this room from the backside of the property, I wanna go through the main entry. We're actually right behind
the secondary seating area that is located right next to the kitchen. Now, this seating setup
is all open facing the TV, another skylight right above us. Again, oval chandelier detail, space is very minimalist and modern. And what's great about this
seating area is the fact that right behind that we have the bar, dual elevation bar seating,
plenty of cabinetry. And what's so great about this bar is the fact that you
have an automated window pocketing into the wall, opening up this space to the outdoors, where you have an additional
outdoor seating area. I mean, this is phenomenal. You can entertain indoors or
outdoors here facing the views. And coming back to the cabinetry, we have a small fridge here, kegerator. I always loved these, Mikey. We gotta get a closeup, dishwasher. - [Mikey] Yep. - And your sink set up here. Overall great bar that serves both the interiors and the outdoors. Now, coming back here again, this part of the home is my
favorite, three skylights, the space is all open,
and around the corner, we have a few bedrooms that
I wanna show to everyone. This hallway starts
here and the first door leads us to the third bedroom. Again, very spacious. Around the corner, we
have the walk-in closet, and this door opens up,
to a full bathroom with a walk-in shower. And what's so great about
these bedrooms is the fact that they all open up to the outdoors and the integration with the nature here. We have an open corner design, sliding glass doors all
opened up right now. And that's where we have the
beehives right there, Mikey. Now, let's go check
out the fourth bedroom, which is right around the corner. It starts right here. This one is little bit more spacious. Same hardwood floors,
vaulted ceilings here, bed set up on this side. And I wanna mention something, throughout the property
we have HRV system. And what that means is
they actually filter and circulate the air within the home and it's by a brand called Zehnder. In fact, it works so well
that it almost replicates the feeling of having all the windows open and having constant natural ventilation throughout the property. So I wanted to mention
that, especially with COVID. - [Mikey] Yeah, in the era of COVID we've read that these
things have exploded. They put these in 2019, and apparently they're almost
impossible to find now, but they filter out any
bacteria and viruses in the air. - And they have it in this house. - [Mikey] That's right. - Now, the outdoors are super cool. We're gonna check that out in a bit, but first I wanna bring
everybody to this bathroom. You have your water
closet, vanity set up here with stone countertops, and we have a spacious
walk-in shower here with Chrome fixtures. Now, I'm gonna take an
interesting route here. I mean, I had a chance to
talk to the developers. I told them I would make
this bedroom an office because, Mikey, imagine
having your desk right here and this is your view. I feel like you'll be in so
much peace and tranquility. It will affect your business
life in a really positive way. In fact, let's take everybody outside. We get the grounds here, the landscaping, I mean, they have spent
$2 million on the trees and the grounds, and it really shows. It feels like we're in a jungle right now. - [Mikey] Yeah, it feels
like Northern California kind of like those forest
with a bunch of ferns and that kind of thing. It's really nice. - It's amazing. We got this gorgeous
tree right in the center, again, with outdoor lighting. So I'm sure at night it looks great. And coming back here, Mikey, this is that massive
steel-cased window assembly that we talked about that
leads us to the great room. I mean, property is truly phenomenal. This space is great. Now, I wanna take everybody here. We have a door leading to outdoors, hallway closet here. And before we check out
the primary bedroom suite that starts right here. I actually wanna go through this room. We have the fifth bedroom
situated on this side, comes with sliding glass
doors leading to the outdoors. And of course, off of
the entry walk-in closet and a spacious bathroom
with a walk-in shower. Now, Mikey, are you ready for
the primary bedroom suite? - [Mikey] I've been waiting, let's do it. - It's pretty special. It starts right here with
this massive pivot door leading you to the bedroom. But first, I actually wanna
go through this opening here because we have an office attached to the primary bedroom suite. We have some built-ins on
the back with open shelving and LED lighting, nice high ceilings, glass table right in the
center perfectly positioned for you to take advantage
of these ocean views. It leads to your backyard thanks to these sliding glass doors. And lastly, Mikey,
actually, two more things, we have the TV here with the camera. This is also your Zoom room. And number two, we have Josh
AI throughout this property, which is a command system. And that way you can kind of
automize everything you want. - [Mikey] Yeah, we've
met Josh AI once before, but he controls everything in the house. You walk in, you tell
Josh to turn everything on and all the doors open,
all the lights come on. It's pretty cool. - And Josh does this for you. - [Mikey] That's right. - Now, we're in the primary bedroom suite. Look at the space here. I mean, room is so spacious. I love the warm tones here
with the hardwood floors and we have the same planks. Also on the ceilings
here, built-in speakers, recessed lights, and
right on the other side, we have another water
vapor fireplace design. And check this out, Mikey. The wood planks here, shou sugi ban. - [Mikey] I thought they looked familiar. - There you go.
- Shou sugi ban. - That's right.
- Pretty cool. - That way you get that
nice dark contrast, TV is assembled here. - [Mikey] Before you go on, we need to explain what that is to people that may not
have seen our Encino video. - Correct. Shou sugi ban is a Japanese
wood-burning technique where they torch each
one of these wood slats to get this charred look and in return, it protects the wood plank
from all weather conditions and bugs don't eat them
after the treatment. So it's really cool. - [Mikey] Yeah, we've seen
this in one property before, and like Enes said, they basically
char the wood with a torch, and based on what color
you want the wood to be, you torch it for
different amounts of time. So they went black on this
one and it looks really good. - Absolutely, creates a nice contrast. Now, Mikey, I wanna take everybody here. Of course, this bedroom
also has sliding glass doors opening up to the outdoors. I mean, look at this Mikey for a second. This is your king size bed and the Pacific ocean is right there. Granted, we just had the clouds roll in, but I mean, it is literally right there, you follow straight to your backyard. This is phenomenal. This is what the Malibu
lifestyle is all about. Now, I wanna take everybody inside. Before we check out the
primary bathroom, Mikey, I wanna actually bring you right here. We have the primary closet, all poliform cabinetry, ton of open space. You have your shoe racks,
hangers, wardrobes, everything you need here. Now, Mikey, let's come
back to the bedroom. We have a pocket door here leading us to the primary bathroom. I love the lighter tones here. Stone floors goes all the
way as a back wall, long vanity set up here. It's floating with two sinks,
recessed mirror design, and to bring some color and contrast, they have these ceiling
mounted light fixtures here with the recessed mood lighting right where the walls meet the ceilings. Now, Mikey, bathroom is super spacious. We have an additional cabinetry here, prep or makeup area, free standing tub on the other
side with a chrome fixture. That door opens up to your water closet, and of course you have walk-in shower here with chrome fixtures, built
in bench, rain head above. Good size. Now, Mikey, before we leave the bathroom, I wanna point this out,
right behind the bedroom, we also have a small wet bar
here with an espresso maker, sink, and a fridge. Now, just like the rest of the house, sliding glass doors pocketing
into the walls here, opening up to the outdoors. So even from your primary bathroom, you don't lack any outdoor space. We have a putting green here, which is a really cool interesting touch, ocean views are right in front of us. This is phenomenal. In fact, I wanna take everybody this way so we can check out the backyard. Now, this is a really unique
approach and a unique property. On top of that, it's built in Malibu. Malibu is one of the most
special parts of the city, but was there a particular reason why your team chose Malibu let's say instead of
Beverly Hills or Bel-Air? - We chose Malibu many years ago. It was probably 15 years ago
when Marcel Malibu was founded. And Marcel Malibu has 17 properties. This one, 01 is just one in a series
of four zero-carbon homes. Of course, Malibu is one
of the most beautiful areas in the entire world, up there with the top spots
like the Amalfi Coast. So that's why we felt like
Malibu was such a unique place to build such a special home. (upbeat music) - This property has 460 feet of frontage, which allows you to really
enjoy the ocean views from every single part of the home. We're now right in the center
of this amazing backyard, mostly covered with grass, and right in the center, we have your heated saltwater pool here. I love this dark blue plaster,
and with a push of a button, you can actually cover this pool as well. So it's a nice convenience to have. Now, we also have a
bocce ball court here, which is really cool. And by the way, we talked
about the natural living here in Malibu. We literally have birds chirping
on the back, palm trees. You can actually see the
mountain right behind us. We really mean it. I mean, you live right in the nature here, which is awesome. Mikey, actually, can we go this way? I wanna show everybody
the covered patio space and we currently have the primary bedroom on our right-hand side, office set up. Again, all opening up to the outdoors. That's the bar area I mentioned earlier, and we have the covered patio space here. It's all open, tiled floors,
board form wall on this side where we have the water
vapor fireplace, TV above. It's just a nice cozy space. Even during bad weather, you can leave all these
sliding glass doors open and let the natural light and natural air come into this property. Now, Mikey, outdoor dining area, and this board form wall
section is actually opened up to place your outdoor barbecue area. You get a small sink, your grill, and of course your fridge on
this side, everything you need. This space is great. Honestly, this covered patio
is one of my favorite moments in this house because you
have the ocean and the pool right in front of you. Now, as we continue to
this side of the backyard, I just wanna say the home is
built on a 2.48 acres of land. So you get so much outdoor space and that way they can
have all these bedrooms flowing to the outdoors. That's the junior primary
bedroom right there. Again, that corner is all opened up and we have the junior primary
bathroom right next to that. Great backyard, amazing views. This property is stunning and I'm really glad we made
the trip here to check it out. (upbeat music) All right, everyone. That's it for the tour,
beautiful property. Throughout the day we enjoyed the amazing views of the Pacific ocean. And I wanna give big congrats to the listing agents, Scott Morris and Patrick Boyle, and big thank you to the developers from Marisol Malibu for giving us a chance to tour the amazing listing
and share it with all of you. As always, you can find more
information about the property and the property link down in
the description of this video. Lastly, if you enjoyed the tour, just make sure to give us a
like, subscribe to our channel, and we'll see you guys next week. (upbeat music)
