Torrevieja NO one talks about this

welcome back to TOA yep and it's raining it is Sunday morning I planned a week to come down to TOA today to do some videos and yes it is raining but what I'm going to do in this video hang around to the end cuz everyone shows you this area everyone shows you the nice sunny bits of TOA and I'm going to show you parts of the town it is a Seaside town the reason I'm going to do this I've seen a lot of videos back in the UK showing you light of black pool skag Ness all these one time holiday Resorts that were fantastic back in the' 70s and early ' 80s and that are somewhat in a bit of disrepair and let's face it it's part of TOA but it's just the same let's go now everyone starts off at this part of the Town showing you the iconic feature waterfall in the town and the lovely restaurants are currently empty is around about what time is it it's 11:00 on Sunday morning yes so this will be going out just shortly after I filmed it so you will see what it's it's like today and it's not too great and they're still doing work on that side of this building still let's go down and there's good good old Catalina but just along from it is an area that's not too clever as they say it's probably quite AP that it's raining today yes great skies and raining when we look at a Seaside town here in Spain that some people say has had its heavy you look at the graffiti along a street that's just two streets behind I mean there's a pub there's a pub that's been closed down for over four years and there's many pubs like this and there's another one but we'll head down and where we're going to go is one Street behind this one as well this Pub's been closed out for over four years since we've stayed here if you are from TOA when was the last time that was open but what this video is going to do I show you that although it is a wonderful wonderful place to come to there is a dark side to it and the thing is there's a dark side to any town the really is it's the dark side to any town oh someone's in little draer oh someone's took over draer by the looks of it that's interesting someone with money bun if you ask me and the good burgers back open let's walk along this street here so this street is one street away from the seaside yes the front that everyone shows you to vle start off with VTO Kebab Varto bab that has lost all their Terrace due to the Town Council the Town Council that thought it was a good idea to put a solid yellow line so that people can't put out Terraces now this part of Tor vea I mean I have no idea how long that how long ago that building was built but it has sat empty and it's only one street away from the back and a bit like this nightclub that has also been closed for over 4 years now but that's not the worst part of it this apartment block here is also s empty I mean that looks as if it's been newly built in the last 10 years or so but there's never been anyone in it ever and it actually looks a nice building for the town but it's been empty all this time now it's probably good doing this video today because there is a lot of turmoil in Spain at the moment with the Prime Minister getting ready to hand in his resignation because politics in Spain is getting too dirty but I'm not here to talk about politics there's another building see Aila up for rent it's only one street away from from the Waterfront this weather they couldn't make it up I'm getting soaked see what you do for YouTube getting absolutely soaked I planned on spending the day down TOA doing two or three videos and it's raining but never mind as the one great performer once said the sure Must Go On rain rain every day it's currently a boat out so this will let you see how close we are to the Waterfront there is the Waterfront and just along this street here there's another apartment block that is full of squats and it has been for over 4 years the whole apartment block is full of squatters it's not the best look for a a town that's trying to well that is bringing in massive investment because the area is getting over 7,000 new homes and when you look at on the map it'll add about another 25 30% land capacity in housing to the town now the council will say look they've done a lot of improvements yeah they've Reta the road made it look nice painted the lines but the reality is you still got too many buildings like this closed down pubs graffiti it just doesn't look nice at all does it really and there are a lot of squarters in around this area the good thing about the rain might not get too much hassle from them today cuz they don't tend to like you walking around with the camera now the reason that you do get a lot of squatters in buildings that are empty is because well they are that they're just they're empty for so long during the year and then sometimes people just don't even bother coming back to their Apartments which is a shame so like any other town in Spain and across the UK even TOA does have its problems with drugs prostitution but it is what it is it's a seaside resort and whilst a lot of people only want to show you the sunny side of it and the exciting side of it and sometimes you do need a reality check there the guy what's he do he going is he actually going to steal the money for the guy that's built the sand castle that be something catching camera and then you'll get this building here run down and that building well that's someone that's just sitting on property isn't it they're just completely sitting on property so it is buildings like this that is just two streets away from the seafront that are full of squatters full buildings full of squatters paying no tax pay no rent and it's it really does let the town down as you can see the windows are smashed in and a woman just came to the window at one of the properties so I'm going to get out before any of the natives come out and ask why on video but that's just a downside of TOA it is a fantastic Place sometimes it's not always Sunshine sangria 50 beers in the next video I'm going to go and grab something to eat and we might even look at some property since I'm right over from a property shop so on that note hope you
