THAT'S LOOKING GOOD AS WELL. >> MARISSA ANDY MAY THANK YOU. ACROSS THE REGION, CLEANUP CONTINUES AFTER SEVERAL TORNADOES RIPPED THROUGH PARTS OF OUR AREA WEDNESDAY, INJURING AT LEAST 5 PEOPLE. >> MELANIE HELMICK IS BACK IN GAITHERSBURG THIS MORNING WHERE WE'RE GETTING A BETTER LOOK AT THE DAMAGE NOW A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER. NOW, WHAT ARE YOU SEEING? >> WHAT WE'RE SEEING IS THERE'S STILL A LOT OF WORK TO DO HERE. TAKE A LOOK AT THE HOUSE BEHIND ME. YOU'LL SEE THAT VERY LARGE TREE TRUNK. THIS IS THE HOUSE THAT WAS ALMOST PRETTY MUCH SPLIT IN HALF BY THAT TREE. LOOK HOW LARGE JUST THE TRUNK OF THAT TREE ALONE IS. IT'S PROBABLY BEEN IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD FOR A VERY, VERY LONG TIME. BLUE TARP. NOW COVERS THE ROOF, TRYING TO PROTECT WHAT MIGHT POSSIBLY BE ABLE TO BE SALVAGED FROM THE FAMILY'S BELONGINGS. HERE. WE NOW KNOW IT WAS 105 MILE AN HOUR WINDS THAT WHIPPED THROUGH THE NEIGHBORHOOD. AND NOW THE CLEANUP IS STILL VERY MUCH UNDERWAY. FIRST CAME THE STORM. NEIGHBORS DESCRIBED HEARING THAT CLASSIC FREIGHT TRAIN SOUND FROM THOSE WINDS, AND NOW THE SOUNDS OF CHAINSAWS AND HEAVY EQUIPMENT RUMBLING THROUGH THE STREETS OF THE WEST DEER PARK NEIGHBORHOOD IN GAITHERSBURG, 5 HOMES IN ALL DAMAGED MANY MORE FALLEN TREES AND IN SOME PLACES, DANGEROUS DOWNED POWER LINES. FOX 5 DRONE VIDEO OVER THE NEIGHBORHOOD SHOWS HOW WIDESPREAD THE DAMAGE IS, BUT ALSO A LITTLE SPOTTY. THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CALLED THE STORM THAT HIT HERE A LONG TRACK TORNADO THAT TOUCHES DOWN, THEN POPS UP, DOES, THEN MOVES AND TOUCHES DOWN AGAIN. >> YOU KNOW, THE ONE THAT WENT THROUGH POOLESVILLE? THE GAITHERSBURG TO COLUMBIA, WHICH IS WHERE I'M HEADED NEXT UP INTO MIDDLE RIVER. THAT WAS ONE SUPERCELL THAT DID INTERMITTENT DAMAGE FROM LEESBURG ALL THE WAY UP TO MIDDLE RIVER, MARYLAND, NORTHEAST OF THE CITY OF BALTIMORE. >> NOW THAT HOME ON DOGWOOD DRIVE THAT WAS SPLIT IN HALF WILL MOST LIKELY BE A TOTAL LOSS. 5 PEOPLE TRAPPED INSIDE HAD TO BE RESCUED AND HAD SOME INJURIES. THE CITY OF GAITHERSBURG, MONTGOMERY COUNTY AND THE AMERICAN RED CROSS WORKING TOGETHER WITH RESIDENTS WITH CLEAN UP AND SERVICES SO YOU ALSO HEARD THERE WAS SOME DAMAGE IN MIDDLE RIVER, MARYLAND. WE'RE TOLD BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE. A MOBILE HOME PARK THERE TOOK A LOT OF DAMAGE, BUT NO SERIOUS INJURIES. FROM WHAT WE UNDERSTAND. WE'RE ALSO LEARNING THAT THE MOST ACTIVE TIME FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS AND TORNADOES IS RIGHT NOW. BETWEEN APRIL 17TH AND JULY 17TH. SO REALLY IMPORTANT GUYS THAT YOU STAY UP TO DATE ON THE WEATHER. MAKE SURE YOU GOT YOUR FOX
