"Topographic" Pallet Wood Wall Map

lust hey that's a wrap and that's a map so this is a topographic map of the state of Vermont made entirely out of pallet wood or at least it's my interpretation of a topographical map it's basically just one inch slices and it follows a topography at each of those slices now each of the layers of pallet wood that I use to build up this map is actually a quarter of an inch thick so that means that all of these layer lines here actually act like the lines on a topographic map showing you the elevation of each layer now shout out to Inventables for making this project possible I cut out all these strips on the x-carve CNC and I love using the CNC for projects that are impossible to do my hand or at least very impractical and this is a good example of that now I could have printed out a template for each one of those strips traced it on and then cut on the bandsaw but there's 50 of those and I wanted to make sure that it was right on the line so that the contour map was actually accurate now that repetitive work with the needed accuracy is really where the x-carve signs and it gives the J carve a big run for his money and not even to mention this is a client build and selling this piece is more than enough to recoup the cost of the machine well that's it for this one as always if you want more details there's website articles full write-up on there with all the info you never knew that you wanted to know I'll link that down below and keep an eye on my Instagram feed I got a couple more ideas that I want to incorporate into this project I'll be talking about that all over there but that's all I have to say about that
