this is Doug De Muro and today I am going to talk about the very worst new cars on sale this is a controversial topic a lot of people insist there are no bad cars anymore you hear that sometimes but it's that's not true that just isn't true there are bad cars as I'm going to explain and most car reviewers will not touch this topic because they're afraid of getting blacklisted by the automakers and this and this check it out at carsand bids.com okay so the worst cars on sale going in reverse order from the number five worst to the number one worst car on sale starting with number five the number five worst car on sale the Mitsubishi Mirage this is like too easy it's like lwh hanging fruit of course the Mirage is terrible it's really cheap it's not really all that well done every time I complain about the Mirage I get a a an a barrage of annoying people saying you're making fun of the poor they can't afford anything else the only one making fun of the poor is is Mitsubishi by putting this Abomination on the market for 10 years now this car has been on sale for 10 years it has 78 horsepower it does 0 to 60 in 11 seconds and it's not even all that cheap it's $118,000 base price for the hatchback $19,000 for the sedan it's noisy it's an old design it's uncomfortable it doesn't really seem all that safe it is deeply mediocre there are many many many other options for buying a car a new car visan Versa or stretch a little or a used car which is what you should do people say well people can't get financed on a used car almost everyone who can get financed on a mirage can also get financed somewhere somehow on a used car and generally speaking the used car will be better people say well people who buy these have been burned by used cars before so they want something new they're going to get burned by this new car cuzz it's bad and it's unreliable and it's trash and it's just not good the only way this car makes sense is if you are given one for free in which case you should bring it here to cars and bids so that I can destroy it in some fun way on YouTube and live out my inner Whistlin diesel okay number four worst car on sale the BMW XM this is the newest BMW SUV and it has gotten a lot of complaints about how it looks which is fair but I actually think it looks sort of okay I think its problems are if I were to enumerate them literally everything else it has a lot of problems the biggest problem is price somehow BMW has priced this vehicle at a $165,000 starting figure which makes it $50,000 more expensive than a BMW X5 5m which is also a high performance BMW SUV however the XM is slower and heavier so you're paying 50 Grand more for the high performance BMW Halo SUV but the performance is not high you are if you buy the thing the XM is also very ponderous to drive so even though it's a performance SUV it is tremendously heavy and it leans when you go around corners and it does not handle well this is a shame considering it is technically an M vehicle I think what happened here is BMW saw the mercedesbenz G wagon and they were like Mercedes has this Halo SUV that people just pay all the money for and how can BMW get a piece of that action and the answer is not with the XM BMW has gone about it laughably poorly and of course these are not selling and they're leaving dealers with massive discounts if they're leaving dealers at all they're going to pile up on dealer Lots because nobody wants them okay next up the number three worst car on sale this is getting to the easy stuff number three the Audi Q4 sportback rron this car it's not just bad it's offensive I'm offended it is one of the worst car values on the market today so the starting price is around 60,00 which is a lot of money and it has 335 horsepower and 258 mil of range meanwhile the Tesla Model y starts at $50,000 that's 10 grand cheaper in case you're keeping track it has 385 horsepower that's 50 more and it has 330 M of range that's 70 more so the model y has more range more power and costs $10,000 less and by the way the Audi was actually worse initially when it came out it had 295 horsepower and 236 mil of range for the same price so it was down 90 horsepower to Tesla and 100 Mil of range and it cost more money and so what outing did was they said that won't do let's give it more range they're still behind Tesla let's give it more power they're still behind Tesla and let's not jack up the price it's still more expensive than Tesla it makes absolutely no sense why anyone buy this car it's like Audi doesn't realize the value proposition issue here and the only people getting these Q4 rron models right now are getting massively subsidized lease deals because that's the only way it makes sense uh if it makes sense at all next number two worst car on sale today this is a great one the Buick Encore GX let me explain this car you've never heard of it this is Buick's subcompact crossover and it starts at $27,000 which is totally fine until you discover that Buick has another subcompact crossover called the invista which starts at 23,500 so Buick has two subc compact crossovers one the invista is 235 and The Encore is 27 you're thinking well that's weird to have two of them but it's especially weird because the Encore is the old model and they have decided to continue selling it as the new model even though the Envista is a brand new car that they just released so basically what this means is Buick is selling their old subcompact SUV alongside their brand new subcompact SUV and they are charging more for the old one you can go into a Buick dealer and buy the new one cheaper better looking better Tech new styling or you could spend more money for an older car why do they do this why do they still sell them competitively it makes absolutely no sense but that's what they do have you ever walked into a dealership and said I I know I could get the new model cheaper but I would like to spend more for the old model that's what's happening at Buick dealers with the Encore GX by the way it also doesn't drive well and the interior looks old against the inv Vista and everything else so there's those problems too but undoubtedly the number one worst car on sale today the worst new car you can buy right now is the Subaru sutera SL the Toyota bz 4X if I were to sum up this car in a sentence it would be bad just plain bad let me give you the specs for $44,000 real money you get 200 horsepower and2 40 m of range with front-wheel drive or 215 horsepower and 222 M of range with all-wheel drive somehow that's just the base model there's a version that starts at $49,000 that has the same specs now literally every rival is better the Tesla Model Y starts at the same $49,000 as the higher model it is 310 mil of range so like 80 more miles of range it has almost almost double the horsepower the Mustang Mach e starts at 40,000 cheaper than the bz 4X and it does 250 M of range more with 266 horsepower which is 30% more there is literally no car on sale that offers a worse combination of price performance and range allinone vehicle than the bz 4X that's not its only problem believe it or not it also has an incredibly stupid name its lowercase b capital Z number four capital x that's how they style it I have no idea why the car is also heinously ugly as you've seen because we've been showing pictures on the screen tremendously ugly and frankly the technology in it is really not all that good or all that competitive with other electric cars if you go to a Toyota dealership right now there are a lot of cars that are in high demand especially the trucks and SUVs are flying off showrooms they're hard to get and hard to find the one exception is the bz 4X I drove by my local Toyota dealer the other day no seoa no Tacomas no 4Runners no siennas no Highlanders they got Bez 4xs though you want a Bez forx they got 50 of them and I guarantee you can get a better deal than the sticker price maybe you could even make it make sense although to do that you'd have to negotiate it down to $1,100 so there you go uh I'm expecting to get hate mail from bz forx and Q4 sport back rron owners but I think they know their car is not very good because that's how they were able to lease one for $99 a month with nothing down uh and the next time you see a car reviewer sort of bat away the question of no there's no bad cars on sale anymore I change the subject we don't want to talk about this I don't want to get blacklisted well here you go this is the truth there are bad cars and I have named and shamed them
