Top 5 Overrated Games

[Music] [Music] all right welcome I was watching live or watching later or watching especially those who are here I'm Tom vassal I'm a secrecy yeah hi and Eric summer I'm amazed we did that without stumbling over each other yeah his microphone always sounds the best I have technique I'm fairly certain it's his voice also I I think I slipped the tech team some money oh this is a bit nostalgic for us because if you were at the very first time we did one of these which was based our - was anyone at that first top 10 list we did right oh yeah we know you were remember you that was some creative editing in our part make you look made you look fantastic there so we did top 10 overrated games and we had never done a top ten list live before and it was glorious it was a lot of fun and we learned about how much he hates feeding people and how much Sam hates shooting people in close combat and so we redo our top ten lists over time we figured we do it here and we added in Eric Mandy and Susanne to round it out to round out the hate because we don't feel like taking as much thank you yeah but then we're only gonna do five H and that's still thirty game it's just like a normal top ten mm-hmm I shouldn't have to say this but we don't really hate people and or gaming we just have had it with some of these games and/or yeah I mean yeah I'm right about mine I checked I checked no but but this is slightly tongue-in-cheek so please don't put all the nasty comments that we got last time it's not gonna stop anything they're gonna do okay so overrated games what we mean by this basically is we think other people like a game more than they should it why is it so popular we don't understand it yeah absolutely it shouldn't be winning diced our awards etc that would be interesting we're gonna find out yeah so we're gonna just start here we're gonna go up with Erik we're gonna go down the list we're gonna possibly not agree here I already feel very confident on that fact no one knows anyone's lists I think I don't and then come up with the argument I think that's a great idea it's a merabh baby yes and that's cool yes so did everyone rank him differently i ranked mine from i thought the most overrated was my number one yeah absolutely do you think of any crossover yes really all right I think so let's find out here we go number five what shouldn't tiny Eric have a slightly tinnier voice yes there you go that's rather for my number 5 is so I had to start you know with with the softball that isn't ranked that high this is only number 310 on BoardGameGeek but it is well regarded as one of the Ilia big box classics from writer kinesia Taj Mahal it's it's it's a bidding game and when you when you get into a bidding war with someone you've pretty much lost because you were gonna spend all of your resources and it's frustrating and you're trying to make all these connections and while you're bidding in a war with somebody somebody plays one green card and then they get of the green prince or whatever and it's just frustrating and I don't understand why people like it so much that's my number five Taj Mahal I got your back that's a good that's a good pick I don't like it either I had I had a different Ryan organ H a game on my short list that ended up getting bumped off the top five but it's right there with you yeah we're Support Group C Mandy Mandy can I switch between love and hate so here we go thanks okay my number five well this is a game if you want to feel bad about yourself play this game all my friends love it I didn't understand a game where you can play it and you can see a few turns out you weren't gonna win why bother so every game I play but it made you feel horrible my number five is automobiles and this is published by AEG wow that must be Suzanne you know I did a livestream and it was horrible horrible maybe it wasn't the game I'm just exploring options Wow begins it's true so you don't like racing games you're saying are you talking in the arocs monk oh sorry [Laughter] okay so I guess it's my turn here we go what I meant love love hate love love love love love hate wait I'm not the only person that hating you be quiet to say you're fine it's wrong okay my number five is a game that I'm sure got all the hype that it got because it had the D&D name slapped onto it and it was basically just all I said was Dean Dean that was in okay but anyway it is a worker placement game where you're trying to so I'll just say it cuz you all know it Lords of Waterdeep is completely over rated now I will say this I enjoyed the game I enjoyed the game but champions of Midgard totally killed it for me champions of Midgard is a superior game to Lords of Waterdeep hands down take it one reason it's so popular all right well my number 5 is a game that Z likes for no good reason oh here we go again improv baby I'm making it up as I go they've made this game four different times now I loved it every time you have an h1 it's just not interesting I do not get I like deduction games to try to figure out who the other person is and catch them but I dislike this so much mr. Jack I don't get it there are so many better deduction games that there's so many good new players thank you there's a very small pocket of people right there mr. Jack is that a trick question wait what no it's too easy to catch - mr. Jack I disagree well obviously and plus they made all the other ones did make the game more interesting I thought gave you more options in mr. Jack in New York the game is actually closely it used to be from what I've heard statistically a 60/40 and now the the sequel was much closer to 5050 as to whether you would win or lose as one side or the other there's more options than they did the Phantom of the Opera which actually gave you a really neat idea of a sliding scale as to where you start meaning you can leave in out the game we're not doing this to be quiet if you've got two people of different skills oh it's fantastic you're wrong so is it like a law and order or they just keep on dumb differences like different types of law and order and they're all [Music] you just leave me alone it's okay to start off wrong I hope it gets better from here yeah my number five is a game Tom loves it's only fair this is a game that again they've had one to class like this person might be here the they went ahead and remade it said they were fixing everything that was wrong with the first one and the second one is basically more of the first one eldritch horror instead of Arkham Horror it's still overly complex overly long incredibly punishing but now you have a bigger area of the world in which to die I'm not sure I get what the difference is oh another great one and you know about this they said about the announcement for the game we're gonna take it slow on this one folks we're not gonna put out as many expansions we understand Arkham came with quite a bit of bloat however within the next three months you'll see expansion upon expansion a bonus you know the small card deck and this and that and now you need it you need your own calyx for this game so that's true one of the rooms in our studio is the other charge it's true so eldritch horror I think it's just more of the same for the most part so it's so much better not better enough alright go ahead alright my number five wrong [Laughter] welcome welcome to the top number five should be a fun game I love the concept of the theme the bits are awesome some of it was really creative and with the way that they were using the pieces boy oh boy do I enjoy this game at all and that is I know I am working on my top 100 right now is on there I love doing this which is probably the best part of the game other than the little wooden bits and then you get these darn cards you'll flip over card you're sitting there hoping oh you see your friends I'll get all these really amazing guests and cards then you flip over something like oh crap thing they can't even using the season that you're and forget it language oh she said C word when you play were you drinking wine I don't I don't I don't like the game that much either but I'm glad she said it not me you're both guys no I just I just I played it once I did stop doing softball Suffolk about games that no one has ever heard of like Taj Mahal out here you think Taj Mahal is overrated you said and like no one in this convention played it the whole time I've been here ooh so overrated come on jump into this mother believe that we could have come on we could have inserted cricket noises after you said maril oh really can we go back to being mad at Suzanne about my number four is number 121 on board game G also the Ilia line princes of Florence oh come on man no this one is like well-regarded oh this is a great game from 20 years ago Prince's 4 is at this convention so overrated captain wacko pudding Pepe 10 wacko pudding is amazing I don't know what you taught him so anyway it's this auction game and years was been like it's all about how much you're gonna pay for the jesters and you know jester went up to 800 this time I know it's 600 that makes it a very different game they paid 600 for the Jester instead it's just ah it's like a spreadsheet I've been making fun of their care but this you're gonna run into these people who are like they're lying to you if they came out today nobody would blink we'd be like that's probably true they liked it back when I came out cuz that's all they had one year after it came out Puerto Rico came out and no one ever parade points to Sephora again anyway that's see I helped you start picking modern games I'm working my way ooh chronologically so my number four I believe is very popular I try I play this game three times I can't get into it everyone well a lot of people really love it the haunt seems to happen every time on my turn I play with a married couple they rave about it I can't stand it I'm so sorry because one of the designers I'm sorry betrayal house [Music] it's not here is he I'm sorry I don't get it I think it probably is over it a lot but I'm still really looking forward to the legacy version coming out I'm really exciting for word to ripping parts of it up so you're almost always a traitor in the game every time and it's not exciting for me because the people I play with I'm so sorry they just they argue and then they get excited and they're so into it I'm like can we just what's that you know negative you like they argue they're excited they get into it it sounded all good to me that's the kind of people I like to play games a little bit a lot so it's the people you're playing it's not exciting for me I mean I agree I'm not very excited about playing it even now but baldur's gate that one's better it's just D&D exactly that's the only reason anybody likes it let's revive a game slap D&D on it okay everybody likes it again what do you got okay number four is a game where two teams of people stare at a board Oh stare at a table yeah they'd have a bunch of little cards on it and those cards have words I knew it I knew you would put this on your list and it is I would rather watch paint dry blindfolded then watch people play this game let alone play this game code names is just not worth the hype that it has been given a marble license ADC license it's been given a two-player version it's been which I actually enjoy better than the original game the pictures version is better than the original game because I live in a town my my son's girlfriend's family are most of them don't speak English well and their mother definitely doesn't and this is a game that I was able to sit down and play with her and she's usually not able to play games with us because of the language dependence and this is one of the reasons why I like pictures better because it's more diverse and I know they came up with a bunch of different languages for the game and that's all well fine and dandy but pictures is better duet is better or duo tool is better whatever you call it this is a game we can play with her you know what else is language dependent Yahtzee you get independent language independent you can play that you can play don't you're softening the blow on code names I want you to get back to the hey that's my point hey I just don't like original code what else don't you like about it it's stupid yeah all right my number four is an older game for sure but they just released a brand new version of it either last year of the year before I want to say maybe it's 16 I don't own it so I'm not sure Sam has it and I heard people rave about this game for years because I I grew up playing I mean I in college I played a lot of games workshop games I played 40k but I never played many of their board games I like football I like punching other people into things you can't have that back until you apologize hey that's a different that's a different topic I played blood ball and essentially just run around and punch people in the face the whole game fantast randomly with random dice and Random randomness random randomly it's not horrible but I was led to believe that there'd be some sort of angelic experience when I played this game wasn't there I just kept punching people and they kept punching me and it was like a boxing match that was just random round a field I don't get it you forgot to speak even after playing this game you definitely didn't play it wrong you didn't play it right if you talk to me if I'm right do you aren't playing it right if that's the way you did it were you playing the Reavers of the orcs were you playing the humans of the orcs if you were playing the humans and you were walking around punching people you were playing the humans wrong it doesn't matter it is it's it's one of those games that people like again are like old blood ball is so amazing okay nobody will say 1980 I will say this bull is not that amazing as he says but it has much better game than he's giving it and I'm not saying it's bad it just like I mean it's like the blood blood bull like third edition book is really high on board game geeks ratings like really high and I got it I was like on so it seems like a lot of rules and then I played it the fourth edition and I was like there's like three rolls you roll the dice it's a rolls your models off the board after they get punched and then roll the game back in the cupboard and play something else that's a three role game I like it not like I gotta try that version all right bull my number three is once again a spin-off of something else you should be on number four bro you're right yeah my number four is a spinoff okay number four the North four is I think it was Eric who said spreadsheet earlier this game feels like just a collection of random mechanisms to me I like this designers games this one feels like the leftover bits that didn't make it into any other game cobbled together and released trajan I'm sorry what tell me how it's not a spreadsheet it is a beautiful spreadsheet that's okay that's the subtitle Trajan the beautiful spreadsheet it just feels like a beautiful spreadsheet yeah it just feels like a bunch of mechanisms again I know he's made a lot of different bits and pieces that apparently they just sort of fit together into a game and that gets published in this one I can really see the stitches that's the problem I know they're all sort of like that but they just pop in this game it's it's just okay so it's you know connect things here orthogonal E and over there it's a little rondell action and over here it's a pushing tracks a long action it's all just so incredibly bland fantastic that is the word you are looking for it is fantastically bland now so yeah Trajan not a fan I like Bruges quite a bit and I like some of the other ones right no damn I like in the year the dragon Trajan is just boring I don't think you're playing right no all right Mandy is seething with rage right now it's hard to tell my number four I'm licked it on see how this goes my number four is code names pictures I think you you who want to communicate over a language independent game together you can do that with the Disney or the Marvel Edition that has images as well for people who can't read English and and and uses some thumb attic color and flavor and I think that that's great what code names pictures did and I see why they wanted to do it but code names pictures took a wonderful team-based deduction game like code names and then they thought okay well let's mix it up and put these images and they came up with all these esoteric kind of surrealistic images of a mishmash of objects and all in grey tones so that color couldn't be a clue way to skirt that one guys and and and made it this is super sensitive so far so code names just put words on a card and like an esoteric layer the added a whole extra layer of of interpretation that muddied up a very clean team-based deduction game it was completely unnecessary and it it takes that formula and it blows the wait are you saying that pictures are making the game harder pictures because no no no I don't wanna read this as workers it's too hard vinegar not of common object like an apple though yeah but but I have often said apple wine and then just stared at my opponent oh look I got a gear here and I got a weird shadow here and there's some grace pooches there and you're a splurge three okay by the way the cards and that had just words those are also just black and white it's not that's true they work very much so they really worked hard I see G spent a lot of time with these pictures and they sent them to people from all different countries to make sure that they were you know that people from different countries would understand the different pictures I was really impressed with the work they put into this game to make it easier for everybody mostly in the world French pictures is that like French interpretation of the pictures unnecessarily the images do have a certain Dixit like quality to them and some are not as clear I like it better with Dixit oh yeah that's funny you can play codex Alera you could if you haven't done this yet you do codenames with board game covers yeah or code names with new mix pictures and words together I like that or a different game shall we move on yes number three please say code names please say code names yeah bye no dreams too wet might as well there's a one crossover by number three is number 79 on the BoardGameGeek right [Music] Stone Age [Applause] Stone Age yes Stone Age is I mean it is a often called an entry-level worker placement game because it is yes and and sort of a great entry point but I find the whole thing way too mathy I'm Way too way too married to the statistics like it's almost too transparent about while I'm my probability of rolling this particular number is gonna result in this number 11 points and so it it all just it feels again like a spreadsheet and that I'm just calculating the whole thing down to the last tip before you get them Tom I concur never mind see wait a minute you said Mathi and you play roads and boats and all these other games that's what I'm sorry have 2/4 I'm not saying I'm not saying it's difficult I'm saying it's boring we should just let with that okay your slate number three is Stone Age it's boring my name is Eric summer and I'm wrong for a while and I know a lot of people read about this game it's so good it's so good it's so good and well it's not so my number three is Puerto Rico I'm not gonna say nothing well I can I take care of this rock that was my number one the last time we did this list absolutely cool don't read the comments Mandy already getting dude what's what's this is the last hour dude that's not even what gets me I played it with I played with several groups but people who know the game I do find when you position yourself especially with people who know the game it's like the ax it doesn't work the actions seem repetitive on one side like there's no way sitting in a certain spot you're gonna win this game I don't know if this has happened to anybody else I don't know if this has happened to you but it happened to a game that I played it was I don't get it I don't get what you mean there you so you know when the game when you have to say it's been a while since I played this but depending on where you sit on what side certain players when they're taking their actions people who have played this game a lot will kill you well yes and that's you know that happens when people know a game but in this particular game it seems to happen a lot but you just get crushed if they're better than you yes no no no no I mean I get that you will lose to a better player that does seem like a serious flaw in a game you were doing so well Tom and then had to resort to sarcasm Oh dara p number three porto rico no I know it's okay you'll get over oh here we go Sam said he's about to get some hey yeah when I heard that this game sold like I don't know what was it like 3000 4000 copies at Essen last year I my mind was blown because we'd played the game a couple times you say what the game is oh this is one of your babies Azul I don't get it I do not get it you're building some dudes floor who cares it's old care at all his wall don't care because it's got colors that are not supposed to go together just mismatched around it looks like zero operating history right now all over my the table it's disgustingly ugly and it's very boring I'm sorry I'm a vulture ompletely overrated Azul what are you all clapping for I talked to the cool stuff they said like they've sold like a hundred copies here so you are either clapping or lying I got that guy bought two of them it's not my baby first of all I want it all right but you should definitely watch out that you don't mention it has the wrong theme because I did that as a I sort of you know brushed off the theme in the review and no boy I don't care that's wild insanity I mean anybody who's Portuguese or Portuguese will know there was a light above that blue in your house growing up right you know I grew up in the 70s and I don't want to see those house I don't think we can use that necessarily as a but speaking him okay all right so my number three I didn't hear what you said so I'm not gonna ask my number three was partially on Sam's list the last time we did this she's like hiding from Sam I am a bit okay Sam had a problem with this game and then he thought that they fixed it with a new edition of the game and now for some reason loves this game it's still boring them you know it is not guys we don't know what you're talking about beside Black Plague you have one maybe two okay three people clapping for you yeah I'm not saying that the game is bad I'm just saying that it's overrated because when it comes down to it there's just a bunch of zombies walking towards you again and then they make green horde oh it's so different now they're orcs and you can go out and buy like six kabillion promos Wow don't thumb me down you sell the game you're biased this is getting awfully real he of all people should know that Thomas is wrong listen to him people but if you do want to get one of our Eric seminar promos for this game yeah right yeah how does shoe laces taste right about now right it's okay I'm just amazed at how much people liked it I was a really amazing people were like I'm like zombie sight but zombies I be like like it's great when they take it when they take rules of a game and then fix those rules quite literally of course they're gonna like it better I'll just change a design beside is that okay then no cuz you're stupid that's that's my go-to right okay here we go the actual number three this time [Music] this is Agricola all creatures big and boring creatures big and boring Agricola is a fine game here's the thing if they had taken Agricola decided you know we're gonna make a two-player version of this let's take the one really fun part all the cards that let you do kind of neat things that only you can do make you unique in the game and make a game about that that's gonna be pretty good but instead what they did was get rid of that part and just give you pastures and fences to play with see this is garbage and we've had this argument in person so many times I've punched him in the face that's not the fun part every time I play these with people they're like defense and build all kinds and animals and have pens animals people love that how could you not see that you animal hater I love animals I don't want to fence them in Oh what we gave me an opening for in my day pants me and yes I I find the two-player version to be just really dry and boring and there they took out the one fun part the the one part that makes me look towards the future towards building something that only I'm gonna get to have access to so I find it yeah really boring well at least they kept the core of the game there the core feeling of the core boring feeling I agree it's a delightful two-player worker placement and resource management game with sheeples that was a lot of boring words strong and cheap alright that's my number 3 Agricola all creatures big and small my number 3 is a more recent game and it kind of hit with a lot of buzz and I had a lot of people a lot of reviewers seem to really like it and we're fascinated by it and really liked how you could mix it all up and stuff like this and I really just liked a lot of things about it and that is ethnos I found I thought it was like oh no and then people are telling me no try this combination you just gotta find the right combination of factions and then it really hums I'm like alright I'll try this nope look Oh flip a card Oh can't do anything this turn alright wait wait wait wait flip a car up nope not yet you you don't like it cuz it's a great game but it has boring looking components and bad artwork that's what you're saying right cuz I understand board is atrocious so that's the reason right that's what you're saying no I'm saying the game is boring and it's got no board he's trying to help you out you know the game is bad the game is look you're the concept is so sound you shuffle up these things you get to play around in the area control it's a turn the rounds felt repetitive you're trying to find right before you get the wrong quick the wrong combo yes the yeah you thank you if you find the wrong mix it just can really drag out and you've got that horrible mechanism where you just are waiting and if you don't pull it right you just you're waiting forever and it's and that port is ugly the colors are weird they don't differentiate enough when you're trying to figure out where you can go it it was not not my favorite and that's a shoe am I the only person that doesn't think this game is ugly I don't think this game is ugly I don't think it is either it's not cute well yeah I don't think it's ugly who thinks it Doug Lee yeah okay that's what I thought thank minority that was who hasn't played it number two my number two hits number 46 on the BoardGameGeek rankings [Music] didn't you actually yeah okay it is it is highly regarded as one of the first worker placement games it's Kahless oh my god so it's not it's not a terrible game okay it's all in me the mechanisms work but like one of the chief things about kale is everybody excited about using Roble and that that whole relationship we're like you know that only moves so far each turn and if everybody spends money you can make it go backwards and then that guy doesn't get to do his thing disrespecting everybody you respect the Provost Union yeah I have never seen the program moving more than like one space backwards because nobody spends the money you have to get the whole table to agree and then one person goes I don't really care that much I'm gonna keep my money I haven't seen that that whole tension that are was excited about that the people you play with I I don't but that's one of the cheap things people like about the game and it's like it doesn't happen all the time so I'm I'm not a big other the game plays differently different times you play it Oh like ethnos Eric have you played the card game No slightly less boring oh okay usual maybe try if I mean if you laugh like a real dead weekend oh so so someone in our game group really likes galas and they brought it and they forced a couple of our people were tricked him I'm not sure what happened to play it just a couple weeks ago and I was like okay let's yeah I wouldn't look that I was like whoa I forgot how ugly that game is I mean yeah that game makes I'm not criticizing the gameplay I'm saying it's ugly and I'm so glad they can just regress our game so progressed past that point I think Kahless is fine it just it hasn't aged well I think it's more it's not over no offense but for gaming the Kahless King is an icon that's okay so it's my when we talk about bad box covers I'm always thinking of Kahless so it is a popular one when it came out I hadn't heard of it all these people I need to race to get this game it has all these great cards and his drafting it has these really nice cubes and I didn't get it it has a space D well not really space but a kind of planetary theme to it terraforming Mars [Music] snap it's mediocre at best [Applause] I'm really torn here because I disagree but at the same time I like hearing bonocore his game so I'm kind of mixed I'm not gonna be involved this was close to being on my on my because the graphic design is holy blade is poor it's what I designs war oh come on don't why us and the graphic designers world Ramos for this game are sold more fixes are done actually you want to talk about a game that is just longer than it should be I spent six hours playing ti4 two days ago so take consider the source terraforming Mars should not be a two and a half three are no I played with the expansions I kid you not it was like the game that would never end it's like terraforming Mars pulling two yes perfect yes alright so it's me now yeah alright my number two can't get worse than that it might um this game kind of has died out because other games have rightfully replaced that I think but I don't know for a while I could count on him going to a game night and watching this game played multiple times by multiple groups of people and I could not understand for the life of me why and people would say oh it's got poker chips in it and it's and it's got little jewels in it too it's so beautiful and I'm like splinters dog splendor is so overrated I cannot understand this for the life of me and I know I'm right because you don't hear people talking about it anymore because it's been replaced by multiple games so splendor overrated you know I like to argue here a little bit I mean I don't think it's overrated but you are right that century killed it killed it Dada Dada Dada Dada and at that they could Queen killed it and then kids mouse came out yeah goodbye splendor see you later what gizmo's it's not a second let's wait two weeks and then say that again I can't sue but isn't it a zoo Oh killed a century and then century eastern wonders sort of wreak guilt Azul and joined up with a dead previous half to become knows it's a dream you had and then the azulejos come to life and say join us I still think splinters of life and well I'm happily playing that one okay my number two should be that controversy oh I think because it's not doesn't really affect us here if I have a lot of games I like Cosmic Encounter so many games but if you came into me and said let's play we'll pick a duel for example let's play a duel and you know it'd be really fun let's put money on it I wouldn't do it and you say but that's the only way a zoo could be fun as if you put money on it well then it's not a good game so poker right just straight up I don't care Texas Hold'em whatever I think they're all boring and dull people but you have to bet real money on it it's not fun right if you have to do that that's kind of what's with this world's a great drinking game so you forget that you played it you know how much money it's a good drinking game that means it's bad splendor drinking Edition like I said but I'm always surprised by the people like speaking about poker and takes hold them in these hushed tones you can't give Eric why would you give it Eric so much guff because poker has channels on TV and it's played all over the place you know solder brickle on the telly welcome back to the farm chat for our Hoover Rosenberg special we're in the 13th round beating our people at the end of this but uh let's modernize a little bit shall we number two is arguably the hot game right now what do you think it is it's one of two things I love that group going we can't wait to see you tore to pieces it's the mind I don't even dislike the mind that much in fact I think out of all three of us I liked it the most but I play a lot of little card games this is another little card game it is not the game to end all games it's fun it's sort of clever it's sort of bizarre it's a quirky little thing but it is not revolutionary and it seems to be getting that treatment yes it's seen as as though it's rewriting what's possible in gaming or are we suddenly gonna have a wave as we did with legacy of games in which you don't communicate I'm a little concerned about that sounds like fun to me you know to stick with Agricola Freitag wriggle a third addition is that gonna be where you place out a worker but you just wait it out my fences I hope that doesn't really catch on one one time in the mind is fine but again I think it's definitely overrated it's not rated that highly to be honest it's 768 right now and bgg but I think it's climbing it's going to be available in a much wider distribution but if it wins this appeal then it's gonna sell a lot I assume and people will talk about it even more again nothing really against that it just seems to be treated with a reverence I I wouldn't assign to it so that's my number to the mind like you got no reaction there's no one against that or for it I really like the mind but I mean I can and why people don't enjoy it I played it with okay I put it with Eric Lang and it was so for me not that great could you have played any other game and it would have been awesome with Eric Lang probably yes I'm closing today man my number two we've already heard from on this panel no and that is eldritch horror oh come on it's right there buddy pre-printed maybe almost ahead of time and everything Aldrich horror is the game that really cemented the fact that I do not enjoy cooperative games in general so you don't look that game is so long and it is so boring as you watch people do things way over on the other side of the board while you're stuck over here cuz you can't worm your way back over there you can't do a darn thing and you are a worm trying to close portals and you know another Cthulhu base game it's it it's a short story told as a novel spread into four movies that shouldn't have been made in the eyes put that on the box wow that was good that's more problematic but but it's wrong but I mean I completely disagree but that was very succinct and finally I'm gonna take that thing and burn it I think no he's coming home with me line number one is number 16 on the BoardGameGeek rankings does anybody know what that number is off the top of your head what 16 is on bgg right somebody knows mandy is absolutely right it's Puerto Rico so you're right if you're playing with with people who have played a bunch they have like these rote strategies if you're sitting in seat number three well you're obviously supposed to take the governor at a certain time and if you don't then they look at you like what are you doing I realized that there are ways around it and that's that that is the game but the fact that there is this like you're sitting in c4 take indigo I would much rather play if I'm gonna play that role selection style of game I'd rather play role for the galaxy race for the galaxy or even San Juan San Juan yeah the card game though that just does it so much better it's it's quicker it's simply that you don't have that I know you're my number one already I just feel like I'm playing it wrong all the time and I'm disappointing everyone so what we learn is you're just both bad at Puerto Rico I mean different gaming groups I would rather play something else number one [Laughter] citadel's was my number six but I I didn't like people didn't like it enough I didn't think enough people liked Citadel's to even put it on the list anyway number one very nice okay this game it's a fairly large board done by a very very popular designer you've got some stars got some I guess smacks a robot got some fighting some combat the arts I'm afraid it's I I don't I I played it probably about four times against my will and I did not enjoy it oh wait you played it four times against her will I understand once and then you go on I don't like it anything you're done what happened the other three times friend always brings over the games let's play my game so I said okay and no played the mind style and pretend you have just the hundred so you just wait I don't think it's necessarily the best game ever made [Music] way better than Stone Age she's not think I talked to her fifth player after [Laughter] when I first heard about my number one I was reminded me of the introduction to the Lord of the Rings movie you have this game and you should play this game before you do anything else worthy of your time because if you don't play this game you're a loser this is a really weird booth demo and then they held the box up and I had this stupid looking rabbit on the front of it I cannot believe that the mind is being even possibly considered or the spiel des jahres what in the world has a zombie virus infected gamers Minds into thinking that this is worthy of Game of the Year I do not understand maybe they were playing too much like oh no those will burn I don't think so because zombicide is actually fun communication in cooperation in all of this stuff I don't get there's cooperation in the mind I certainly don't I certainly hope that we are not seeing a trend developing in this whole let's make a little card game that has a bunch of cards that simply have numbers on it and then tell people that they can't talk to each other and then maybe they'll get it I don't understand this is a if you like the mind fine absolutely like it it's your bag it's your it's your thing but I think it is a completely horribly dumb game I'm sorry it's no nois I'm saying at all I just I I will I vow solemnly swear to never play this game again Mandy would play it three more times I considered it from my list too it's just that the people who play it almost seem like when I see the the things people type on the internet or when people came up to us it was almost like you you haven't played it oh you poor fool and then almost like they were cooler for having play it really feels like it's trendy to play the mind and if you act like it's trendy to play a game I'm out almost you know that whole think of then we're playing the mind we played it 80 times in a row that's fun I would have preferred to play like six different games but hey you know anyway my number one is not a very popular game I guess at least amongst probably you guys here because the people who love this game are probably not here because they're probably playing it somewhere this is a convention mostly played game and I'm just doing this mostly as a PSA so that when you someone tries to trick you into playing this game you don't alright because they're gonna want you to be here at their partner and then they're gonna yell at you the whole time you play this game because there's so much smarter than you and this is that what mandaeans and Eric we're talking about but it's actual true and that's teach you all right now teach you is a fine trick-taking game just like another hundred or two hundred trick-taking games that are out there but for some reason this particular one for the people who love it has become revered to almost a cult-like status in fact I'm in the process of submitting paperwork to have people who like teach you considered a cult because that's how bad it is y'all are amazing tonight go watch people they get to you they're like well we're having a great time as they're carrying a box bag and they sit down then they stare at each other and you're like are you having fun mmm and you're like oh can i play and they're like well only if one of us dies but then one of them might die right so then you get pulled into the game and you're like what do I do and they're like oh well here's the 65 rules and you're like okay and then you say teach you and then your partner looks at you like I hate you how you're gonna get that a lot until you finally learn how to play the game but I'm just warning you don't okay again it's a fine trick-taking game but there's about 600 other great ones don't be fooled none of those players are in this room right now cuz again they're probably playing teacher in the corners of this thing I tried to make a rule against it and I stearic on we gotta let the to chew players and mostly because most of the publishers play it and we would have no publishers if they did that it's like that scene from no stairway to heaven so you picked poker and teach you know I just picked teach you for my number one poker with no in your top five well yeah but you know when I play out of char I have a rip-roaring time everyone around me knows that everyone in the file then the game knows that I tell stories about it afterwards when people come back to play teacher like what happened like you wouldn't understand my art I think they're not allowed to tell you what happens in teach you club stays in teacher Club alright my number one is rated or ranked rather 130 on BoardGameGeek he went to the top 20 130 meaning this is the hundred and thirtieth best game is an affront to mankind I would say this is galaxy trucker we're not being friends of CG tonight galaxy trucker is sort of the weird activity in which you don't quite ever know the rules or how to do it well and the game seems almost designed just to mess with you it's sort of a character building exercise maybe maybe that was the original objective try your hand at this pseudo puzzle and when we take everything away from you do it again a couple times and when you're done you'll feel better about being you maybe that's the idea and it's that and if it is then I apologize to the designer but just does not seem like much of a game it's incredibly boring it is loosey-goosey the whole flip a tile and then add it in or just throw it back and someone else can't just take it I just I just wait a little bit and then when some tiles start showing up I'll grab those or not I mean it just seems like you can do whatever you want because it doesn't really matter it's all gonna fall apart it's all gonna fall apart anyway oh but you can look at the cards so what it's all gonna fall apart anyway someone screamed something something the cards I'm gonna ignore them because they're probably a galaxy trucker player I think it's a terrible game if it can still be called what are you saying yes yeah I would avoid it I would be the main issue at the end of the day really flesh your sons I've talked about this game before the main problem being that it's really half a game and the other half it's a spectator sport right you're doing a thing and then you sit and wait and watch and things sort of break down but that's not involved that part happens to you you're not really doing anything for that half of the game so I don't really think it qualifies as a game I want to say game slash activity slash cult alright that's my number one galaxy takes three seconds you have you played going to trial of galaxy you enjoyed frequent naps in your gameplay all right let's get this going my number one hobby oh yeah I really do not enjoy playing Manabi I stopped enjoying playing memory when I was like 9 and I'll play memory with my kids if I have to but I'd rather play like a cute picture what I mean oh you know it doesn't face you oh great that just means that my friends and their bloody memories can mess me up even more and people create like secret signals but then you get those conversations of like what are the rules then how much can we communicate you know just figure it amongst yourselves and I don't yeah you like them do you like the mind right it's it's faster and it's different and yeah I just I mind this you know like a hobby the way that you you know faces everybody else and you probably have to try to memorize yay and you're looking at you're trying to send signals I I don't I've I've never understood the love for Nabi I I guess if we're gonna play it the nice timer because that's pretty nice right absolutely that is a nice one no you're back in my good graces Suzanne I'm gonna let viticulture slide I'm not I'm not either but a Nabi I agree yeah I'm surprised I love it for this game yeah there's huge fans of it but I am full of the mind I'm surprised yeah brain fungus that Sam what's up it's got you Sammy alrighty well those are her so we've learned our lesson from the first time we did this we're not gonna bring you guys up here to give yours oh no if you're wondering why just look in the front row okay so anyway no actually we're doing it because we want to end this and some of you want to play games till 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning we still have a day and a half left of this con or again if you're gonna stay up all night two full days we thank you guys so much for coming
