what is good people welcome back to another video now in today's video you join me in my Mark III golf interior because we're going to be talking about five interior modifications that's going to improve drivability to make the interior a better place to be and it's not even expensive so if you guys enjoy these videos make sure to give it a like And subscribe I'm much really appreciated I'm trying to hit 4K at the end of the year so I'm sure you guys can help me out this list is in random order and I'm going to be starting off with the Chrome trims now there's three parts you can swap out to Chrome Replacements the first one is the interior door handles very easy modification all you have to do is pop up the door card remove this trim here expose there's two screws one there and one there then the whole door card can come off release it from all of the Clips around the side and then just unscrew this door pin the door card should pop out and it will expose the door handle with like a plastic trim around it all you need to do is release it from the latch there is a little pin underneath you will see it all you need to do is pry it out and then the whole thing slides forward and comes out easy swap for the Chrome on and it looks so much better one thing I've noticed as well when you're actually opening the door is heavier and it gives you a bit more feedback it's a bit more robust it's stronger it looks so much better in my opinion dead easy swap rear door handles are exactly the same so you've got no problems with fitment issues back door card comes off exactly the same and it's the same to install job done now these Chrome mods are going to be a little bit different depending if you've got a three or a five door if you've got a five door you're gonna need two sets if you've got three door obviously you only need one set because convertibles only came in two doors so you're only going to be able to get your hands on two per car that you're getting from now the next chrome trim the door Strikers as you can see this is the OEM one and if you put them up to each other this one looks extremely faded tired and old this one is roughly 25 years old and I've just polished it good to go this is such an easy fix it's unreal all you need is a T45 I believe to undo the OEM ones and then put the new ones on using the Chrome bolts as well I believe it's an M10 now if you have a five-door car you're gonna need five sets I'm only speaking for the Estates because I'm not sure what the rear latch is like on the hatchback so we just show you now on the Estates all five latches are exactly the same so you just need five of the same one the rear isn't different or anything like that I'm not sure if the hatchbacks are any different so you're just gonna have to do your research or even just pop the boot and Visually check if the rear Striker is the same as the door Strikers themselves again with the interior handles you're going to need to buy a few sets to kind of make up one complete set because the estate is five you only get two in the cab air you kind of need three sets to make up a full set but once they're done they they look fantastic and it's such an easy modification it's unreal now the final chrome trim can only be done on the three doors which is this so this is a seat belt bracket for the front seat belt on the Five Doors it's a little bit different because the seat belt clips all the way into there on three doors there is a bar that goes across just like this if it's just like that and the seat belt kind of slots where the Chrome is all you need to do is remove this kick panel and there is one trim there which is obviously missing on mine and then you just pull the whole thing upwards and then there's a 17 mil socket going through where this would be just like this where the seat belt is and then on this side there's an allen key which should be going through the carpet just here make sure you remove all that swap it all over job done make sure the bolts are tight because you see the belts on it safety first so the next modification we're going to be talking about the headliner and everything that is at the top of the car most old cars suffer with sagging Headliners it's just where the foam is deteriorated drop the headliner down the fabric sits on top of your head drops a load of foam everywhere it gets messy it's very annoying it's not a great job to do but once it's done it completely transforms the look of your interior I've done mine in purple velvet it is a very Marmite color but I like it and that's all that matters the usual color people opt for is black just makes the interior look a little bit more cozy a bit more premium I'm not going to show you how to completely wrap one I'll just do it brief so removing the headliner take the foam off wrap the new material on put the glue on job done go straight back up now once you're up the headliner you're going to want everything else to match that includes the grab handles the sun visors and the interior light now we'll start off with the grab handles I have painted my grab handles not very well admittedly but they are a cheap modification to do makes everything on the headliner kind of match I'd rather have a black faded grab handle than a white one that kind of just doesn't tie in you can either paint them or you can get one from a Passat B3 I believe not that common to get hold of but they do exist and you will get a set of four so that's a dead easy swap it's hard to see because of the line but there's two screws one on either side of the grab handle remove it put the new one on job done don't know what to tell you it's that easy so this is a black grab handle and every Mark III golf convertible and 3.5 convertible had black sun visors there's one screw on one side and two on the other side that just holds the clip in pop out that easy it's worth noting as well they also come in two variations so you can get black sun visors and you can also get ones that illuminate so when you open the blind there's two lights that flash open you will need the wiring loom and I'm not sure if it's a select amount of 3.5 convertibles you are going to need the loom which runs down this side down this pillar and just connects where the pillar ends so it's easy swap easy to take out job done now the most expensive interior piece you're going to come across is the interior light now these do come in black but they're very very expensive and quite rare if like me you want to cheap out a little bit you can either paint it or you can dye it there is a few guides going around on Facebook and YouTube and you can't tell the difference between a dyed one and an oem Factory one Factory ones go for about a hundred pound plus and the dyed ones go for about 50 Quid plus so I know which one I'd rather do and I couldn't care less if it was a real black one or not because I hardly ever see the thing but it just kind of sets all the interior up and that is pretty much everything on the headliner all done everything's paint matched and looks pristine so the next modification we're going to be talking about is the steering wheel it is the most important component on the car you touch this all the time and upgrading it will make your life a ton different all non-level Mark III golf steering wheels all suffered from the same problem and if you've got one yourself try it it's just the most ridiculous thing you can literally grab the steering wheel and twist it all the way over it just needs to go so this steering wheel although it is faded I am going to be re-trimming this soon this is a color concept steering wheel it is level so it's very tight it's nice and strong it doesn't twist over like the other ones do and it just makes so much difference you don't actually understand it didn't cost me a lot at all and you can get VR6 steering wheels they're bolt straight in and just makes your life so much easier if you did want to go aftermarket you are going to need the boss that adapts the wheel to fit onto the Mach 3 Golf column obviously if your car does have an airbag it's gonna have the airbag light on it is not road legal it's not going to pass its mot and you will get pulled if they notice it and you will get told off so I am not encouraging it but if you was to do it it's an old car you do what you want to do aftermarket or OEM steering wheels look good on these cars in my opinion it just depends on the look you want to go for nice retro wooden steering wheel doesn't go amiss but like most Volkswagen parts they do catch a premium Now changing the steering wheel on the Mark III is very easy all you need to do is remove this bolt and there's one on the other side what I tend to do is disconnect the battery first because you don't want to be messing about with airbags when there's still power going to it turn the steering wheel to the side just like that it allows the bolts to be easily accessible undo the top and bottom one bring it back to straight remove the steering wheel remove the connector that the airbag is attached to and then there's a 24 mil knot in the middle undo that and the whole thing if you give it a good rock should eventually free off now you don't need to make any marks or notches where the steering wheel used to be that only fit in one place there's a notch just above where the bolt sits very easy swap very cheap modification very big difference highly recommend it so the next modification I'm going to be talking about Recaro seats I don't know every single trim of Mark 3 they came off but they came in color concepts and I believe there was option lectures in VR sixes and gtis if I am wrong correct me in the comments down below these seats were originally in a black color concept seats and as you can tell they have been re-trimmed and are not standard seats I've done these myself if anybody wants something like this do hit me up I can sort you out this is hands down one of the easy seats you'll ever remove in your life you don't even need to be mechanically minded so coming to the front of the seat see there is a clip here you just pinch it pop it out move it to the back of the seat you can see this trim here there is one on this side and then there's an end cap just there on the other side make sure these are out because you will snap this because you need to roll the seat all the way back once you've done that sit in the seat pull the lever up and push all the way back you'll feel the seat drop down remove the seat very easy swap recaro's the standard seats the gtics all come out and go in at the exact same very easy to do if you are removing the leather seats yourself make sure that you disconnect the heated seat wiring because every single leather seat has heated seats I would also recommend swapping over the heat seat wiring while you're there because it isn't a difficult thing I have actually done a tutorial as well if you want to go back and have a look all you need is the wiring loom and the switch just there now the final interior mod is this gear knob itself so this one looks very similar to the anniversary and that is because this is a replica one it's very easy to tell this is metal the anniversary ones are made of leather the reason why I prefer this one is because these are so much cheaper and look the exact same and then I added my own little touch put my logo at the top made a little custom logo and I think it looks so much better also did again of Gator to match the seats door cards and just kind of ties in really well you can get pre-stitched Gators online on eBay and plain black ones maybe with Red Stitch and anything like that to tight in and it just makes Switching gears so much better on top of that you've got your new steer remote your new gear knob chrome door handles Chrome Strikers you've got your freshly trimmed headliner black handles black sun visors a black interior trim now your car is so much better to sit in and drive in I've got to say once I did all these modifications it completely transformed the car and it even helped that lowered it and put a VR6 Splitter on at the same time I guarantee you guys if you do all these modifications all at once you will absolutely fall in love with your car even more than you did so it just makes the Driving Experience so much better the interior is a nicer place to be people want to sit in your car so I know this has been strictly interior but if you guys want two tours on the exterior of the vehicle lowering out suspension Wheels anything like that do put it in the comments down below as always people make sure to give this video a like And subscribe for more content I'm trying to get to 4K by the end of the year much appreciated thank you so much we will see you next Sunday for another video peace [Music]
