Over the decades I've been playing video games  no other genre has been able to capture my   imagination and spirit more than Japanese role  playing games so in this video for the first   time ever I will be breaking down my top 25 best  jrpgs of all time now keep in mind this isn't a be   all and all list or objectively the best jrpgs  so there's definitely going to be incredible   jrpgs that you love that might not make my list  so please make sure you list your favorite jrpgs   of all time in the comment section below now with  that out of the way let's go and jump right into   it at number 25 and we're going to start off  with a PS2 classic and that is Final Fantasy 10   now back around 2000 it was so crazy to see the  games on the PlayStation 2 Final Fantasy 10 was   one of those games that made me wish I had money  to buy it back then 20 odd years ago and it was   such a game that created an impact that yes you  can have these beautiful sprawling worlds in the   graphical quality of the PlayStation 2 the Next  Generation but it also went A Step Above with   the spear grid system and what they did with the  characters the visuals the music everything was a   clear and obvious Step Above what we got with  the PlayStation 1 and the Final Fantasy games   from a simple presentation standpoint the jump  was immense it was immediately noticeable and   you wanted to get wrapped up in the whole Aura of  Final Fantasy I remember playing this game so much   going to the mom and pop shops and having a memory  card that I would always use so I can go back   there give him a dollar play for an hour and then  have to go back until I can make my next dollar   or so to play it until I was eventually able to  actually pick up the game myself and play all   the way through on the PS2 and I recently bought  the game again on the PlayStation 2 and played it   via backwards compatible on my PlayStation 3 the  original PlayStation 3's back when those launched   which are great systems by the way and the game  actually holds up really well and in some regards   if you look at it compared to the HD re-release  of it it looks better when it comes to the faces   and things just not in HD resolution so overall  Final Fantasy 10 a fantastic experience a great   game great combat great music great presentation  awesome battling systems love the spear grid love   what they did with so many different things not  necessarily perfect but it doesn't have to be back   when it came out it was absolutely incredible  and that's why it makes it to number 25 on my   list coming in at number 24 Super Mario RPG the  Remake on the Nintendo switch now this is one of   those games that yes it doesn't have all of the  bells and whistles and dramatic things that other   awesome RPGs do have out there but what this  remake has is pure Bliss and fun I don't think   I've ever grinned as much all the way through  an RPG experience than I did with Super Mario   RPG remake and allow me to explain a little bit  more because most RPGs they usually have like es   and flows highs and lows and even the best RPGs  out there have certain periods where like okay   I don't necessarily like this part or okay it's  getting a little too grindy at times but there was   never a time when I was playing Super Mario RPG  remake that I ever felt that the pace let up it   was always exciting exhilarating to play the new  chain attacks the triple team attacks it made an   already great game that I felt was an awesome RPG  and one of my favorites and it catapulted it into   my top 25 because of all the cool things that  they added the Slick visuals the remixed music   the story that's just as good as ever yet really  kind of silly with some of the parodies and weird   things they put in there the Easter eggs with  other Nintendo franchises Super Mario RPG remake   might not be the greatest in terms of features and  story length and all that but it has it in Soul   and heart it's one of those games that when I was  playing the game I was just enthralled with it and   almost beat it in one sitting because I wanted to  keep on playing it and playing it and playing it   and I finally did all the things that I didn't  do before when it comes to some of the stuff   like the 100 jump challenge I finally did all the  content that I want wanted to do in this game and   they even added extra content in there after you  beat the game you can go back and play some bosses   that are harder nothing too substantial but it was  still a nice touch overall so it takes a classic   that I already loved and even makes it way better  so Super Mario RPG remake with its incredible   soundtrack fun gameplay silky smooth visuals and  just touch of awesome Nostalgia makes it to number   24 on the list number 23 near automata this is  a game when it first launched I didn't expect   to like so much considering I didn't like the  previous near games like I didn't play the near or   the dren guard games I wasn't a huge fan of those  but near automata looked really cool I like the   design of 2B I like the graphical look of it it  seemed like it was really cool with the open-ended   areas and the combat and platinum games one of my  favorite developers of all time were making this   title so I decided to give it a shot and I'm so  glad that I did because above all this is one of   those games that truly means replay value because  in order to get all the value out of this game you   have to play it multiple times but you're going  to want to because of how well written and how   well done the story is and the combat just keeps  getting better and better as you get better and   better in the game it has a brutal difficulty side  to it if you want to take that route but once you   master things it becomes super fun to slice and  dce level up upgrade do what you need to do for 2B   and your other characters in the game and I felt  that it was so fun to go through and play it not   only on the PlayStation 4 but then also again to  play it on the Nintendo switch when it released   and have a portable version of that game which  nobody even felt could run on the Nintendo switch   just to begin with but near aomata is one of those  games that really combines a lot of expertise   that Platinum games has when it comes to action  titles and RPGs and kind of putting all together   in an open world game that truly is unique and  interesting the lasting memories that I have with   the story in this game and what happened is why  it's so high up it has that great combination of   phenomenal gameplay and great story and awesome  replay value and it puts it all together so   beautifully so it makes that a number 23 on my  list next up at number 22 is fire emblem Path   of Radiance we've got an old GameCube game but a  good one here and fire emblem Path of Radiance is   a game that I remember playing back when it first  came out and I wasn't the biggest fan of strategy   RPGs then but I remember playing it a couple  years later and realizing oh my gosh what did   I miss out on fire emblem Path of Radiance is  one of the best strategy RPGs I've ever played   it's got a phenomenal story with Ike and one of  my favorite Lords and Fire Emblem history Ike is   just awesome this mercenary very rugged and Gruff  and he's built and everything super strong but the   way that the characters interact with each other  what you do the maps the layout the music how it   intertwines all of it is just magical because it  combines so many different things that you would   love about an RPG that you would love about a  strategy game that you would just love about   the classics but then also had a little bit of  a modern touch when it comes to what they did   considering the previous Fire Emblem games were on  GBA or on the Super Nintendo so it was super cool   at that time about 20 years ago to see exactly  what they did with Fire Emblem but also play a   game that truly felt like the developers cared  and P so much time and effort into each of the   characters and the story and the brutal difficulty  of it as well keeps you grinding because you don't   want to lose anybody and I don't care what anybody  says if I lose somebody I'm restarting that's how   I play Fire Emblem I lose nobody in the game but  the threat of you losing someone and that person's   Gone Forever they're actually dying in the game  was enough for me to really kind of speak to me   in terms of a gamer to make sure everybody makes  it through and you've got great tools to do that   making sure that you allocate who beats who so  everybody levels up equally to where you're not   underleveled for certain characters later down the  line fire emblem Path of Radiance is phenomenal   one of the best strategy RPGs ever and absolutely  deserves to be number 22 on my list coming in at   number 21 is Pokemon Fire Red this is a game that  I put so many hours into back in the day it's a   remake of the original red and blue but with so  much more added content increased graphics and   just overall presentation boost gameplay boost  speed everything was so much better now I loved   the original 150 Pokemon I loved the Pokemon anime  and this game to me really took what the original   games did and just made it so much better the  bread and butter of the Pokemon gameplay is   absolutely the PVP battles but the single player  is still there there's still a ton of concept   for you to go through it is a classic term-based  RPG with monster battling but with the amount of   variety of moves and different Pokemon and what  they added Into the Fire Red Leaf Green versions   it just created a spectacular game that kind of  relived what I played before but made it so much   better the additions to the game were fantastic  but I think that the game playay itself is what   makes Pokemon so great it's simplistic in nature  you just have your four different attacks there's   multiple different skills that you can learn  but it's how you strategize it's how you put   your Pokemon team together and then actually  playing against other opponents is what makes   Pokemon so great and I did that quite a bit when  I could with the GBA back in the day with Pokemon   Fire Red I specifically like the story in this  game I know it's pretty simplistic and basic for   most people especially compared to other Pokemon  stories but I still felt that it was good it was   good for what it was and I think that it took the  monster battling remake stuff that we get now in   today's day it took the remakes and took it to the  next level for a portable experience to have that   type of game anywhere that you want so Pokemon th  red makes it in at number 21 on my list if you're   enjoying the video please make sure you hit that  like button and subscribe if you haven't already   done so but let's go and continue on with the list  here at number 20 and we have Xeno gears from the   PlayStation 1 and Zeno gears is another one of  those games that I didn't automatically click   with at the beginning but then I played it a bit  later and truly understood the vision of monolist   soft this was back when they were with squaresoft  before they split off from them and what they were   trying to do Xenogears is a generational type of  PS1 game now while it might have lost the bid to   be the next Final Fantasy it didn't lose the bid  in my heart to be one of the greatest PS1 games   one of the greatest gpgs of all time it's got  an incredible battle system that was incredibly   unique for what they are doing back on the  PlayStation 1 it was insane what they were pushing   with this game and you can see that Ingenuity when  it comes to monolith soft with what they've done   with their games in the present time as well it  even goes all the way back to the PS1 days having   the huge machines that you can use in the game  in in addition to having ground combat as well   and the technical aspects of that but just like  any other monolith soft title it's all about the   story and what they try to interweave and Twine  and the start of that with Xeno gears is truly   incredible it is just a sight to behold and what I  love about it is the characters the characters in   the game how they interact with each other it's  not a perfect game by any means but Xeno gears   has so much flavor so much style so much sauce I  find myself going back to it a lot so Xeno gears   absolutely needs a remaster they need to bring  that game Back Square enx what are you doing when   it comes to Zeno gears but yes one of the best  games of all time one of my favorite jrpgs in at   number 20 on the list coming in at number 19 is  Dragon Quest 8 this is a PS2 classic that I felt   was so incredible back when I played it on the  PlayStation 2 because of its expansive Universe   great characters fun battle system and good pacing  as well it had the right amount of difficulty in   addition to ease of use for a Dragon Quest game  that finally started to make its traction here   in the west whereas before people didn't really  know too much about Dragon Quest they just felt   like hey there's this RPG that kind of looks  like Dragon Ball Z or looks like Dragon Ball   Z but isn't that but this is the game that really  broke through for me when it comes to Dragon Quest   titles and playing them and honestly I have so  many fond memories of this game but it's not just   F memories or Nostalgia the game actually holds up  really well mechanically with the game play it's   clean simple fun and fast to play the characters  are still well written overall I think that the   translation job was really good and the overall  length in addition to content in the game actually   Rivals a lot of RPGs released today in terms  of what you can do in there and the mechanics   so for me Dragon Quest 8 is still a game that is  very much playable and good to this day and it's   a crime like I've said before with some of the  other games that it's not been remastered or   re-released in a type of way for people to be able  to play it outside of the Nintendo 3DS a number of   years ago which that version is also incredible  too so coming in at number 19 is Dragon Quest   8 next up at number 18 is triangle strategy now  there are a lot of strategy RPGs that people might   have above this one but triangle strategy really  spoke to me as someone who loves the classic   aesthetic the 16bit RPGs out there triangle  strategy is a game that really encompasses all   of that but I loved the background the history the  lore the salt in this game and how everything just   essentially comes from Salt and the funny thing  about salt is I learned so much about salt when   it comes down to I never really thought that salt  was a big deal at least in my own IRL but man salt   is really important for your body it's really  important and if there was a shortage or war on   that what would happen well triangle strategy lets  us know about all of this but it's rich in history   lore and it has great quality of life features  being able to pull up who you're talking about   or who this person is or potential affiliations  or backstabbing the different routes that you   can go the decisions that you can do the scales  of conviction and the game play the I would say   probing of finding out what you can do to turn  people to your cause you truly feel like a leader   in this game when you play as sanoa but recruiting  different members and doing different side quests   and having the encampment in there to where one  of the best absolute best quality of life features   that I've ever seen in a jrpg triangle strategy  has so many awesome qualities that some people   might have overlooked now the gaml overall doesn't  have the most depth when it comes to the actual   combat but it's still really fun with the kudos  system that rewards you for playing smart doing   backstabs and double team attacks and different  things so to me triangle strategy absolutely one   of the best strategy RPGs that I've ever played  one of the best jrpgs out there it makes it the   number 18 on my list coming in at number 17 is  Secret of Mana a Super Nintendo classic and this   to me was one of the more Innovative early 9s RPGs  out there because I was used to playing term based   games and also playing single player games back  then but this was a Japanese RPG that was not   only action RPG but it was also multiplayer  as well you can play it single by yourself   you can play it with two people you can play it  with three and I used to play it all the time   with my brother and his friend and we had a blast  rolling through you have fantastic visuals with a   lot of variety within the environments you've  got great hacking SL type of gameplay leveling   up new abilities skills and all of that you've got  great mode 7 Graphics which was a staple of some   of the biggest Super Nintendo RPGs of the time  and you've got phenomenal music the soundtrack   is absolutely beautiful that's going to leave you  in awe sometimes how they put together the scenes   with the music the composition is absolutely  great so for me this was the full package type   of Super Nintendo RPG I think it's still highly  replayable it's smooth loading times were fast   even back then this is a fantastic game and it  holds up incredibly well which is why people love   on the collection of Mana when released on the  Nintendo switch so Secret of Mana makes it in   at number 17 on my list coming in at number 16 is  octopath traveler 2 this is to me the Pinnacle of   the HD 2D RPG systems if you love the old school  16bit RPGs like myself octopath traveler 2 does so   many things right overall I think that the combat  is really good the addition of lat and Powers is   super cool and I think that they take some of the  balance that they had problems with before in the   past with octopack traveler some of the issues  with Bravely Default because it's kind of a   offshoot from that series they put it together but  then also enhance it in so many different types of   ways and overall from a graphical perspective  this is the best that HD 2D has ever looked in   my opinion the artistic direction of team asano is  second to none with this style of double a game so   octopack traveler 2 is one of those games that if  you play it you'll see so many cool little things   not the old school RPGs that make it great but the  combat is really where it heats up really where it   makes its money overall with how good this game is  I love the breaking I love the different mechanics   that you have in there I love the different  classes that you can get the different weapons   that you have the areas locations the different  little things overall the intertwining or better   intertwining stories not completely intertwined  as maybe people would like but still better   intertwining than the first game oxb back traveler  2 has so many awesome things it's a phenomenal   game that does so many of the little things right  and that's why it makes the number 16 on my list   number 15 Final Fantasy 9 and Final Fantasy 9  is one of those games that I put on my 10 out   of 10 type of titles because I think it takes up  pretty much everything that square enx learned   from the PS1 era of RPGs and kind of all puts  it together and it turns out to be a game that   has incredible story incredible music incredible  gameplay and awesome World building and combining   all of that with everything that they know about  the PS1 it turned into a phenomenal experience   that didn't quite click with me at the beginning  but ultimately I ended up loving the game so much   and I think that's why Final Fantasy 9 is so high  up for many people out there and I think that the   story really I think that's really where it takes  it to the next level is the story combined with   everything and the gameplay and the classic Final  Fantasy awesomeness that we all know and love so   Final Fantasy 9 makes the number 15 on my list  number 14 Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and this might   be a little bit controversial for some out there  with this game but not for me because Xenoblade   Chronicles 2 despite some of its faults with  the blade system with some of the side quest the   fetch Quest and different things it does so many  other things good let's talk about the graphical   presentation and perspective in addition to the  music those two things are Peak when it comes down   to it in zenay Chronicles 2 it has such good World  building the Titans all of that the voice acting   the characters all that is really really well  done and I love what they did with the combat   in the game and yes it does take a little bit of  time to get used to it can feel a bit awkward with   the auto attacking and then now you can't attack  and move at the same time but it's because of   the positioning and battle that makes this game  such a strategic and awesome fun game to play and   different from the other Xenoblade games in some  respects so I really like that about Xenoblade   Chronicles 2o but to me the biggest thing is the  opposing forces we always talk talk about the   story and who's the villain and what's happening  bad guys good guys but in this game it makes you   question exactly what's happening despite there  being a clear evil person that's coming after you   or that you're going after I love what they  did with Zen Chronicles 2 and Zen Chronicles   2 Tona the Golden Country because essentially  these are two games that are combined into one   overall for an overarching story and these titles  really really do some awesome things combat wise   switching it up in Tor of the Golden Country  but then also story-wise of the overarching   story in the Xenoblade franchise so for me the  combat the music the characters the story The   everything The Vibes in this game Zen Chronicles 2  makes it the number 14 on my list number 13 Skies   of Arcadia legends and I don't know what Sega is  doing where is this game at but to me it's still   one of the best a 10 out of 10 type of game for  me Skies of AR kidia Legends takes the original   Dreamcast game and makes it even better with new  quests the Rogue or Legends battles that you can   do The Wanted ones in addition to some updates  to the game as well quality of life features but   overall it's still the same great game that we got  but even better on the GameCube and what I loved   about this game it didn't have a combat system  that was oh my gosh so in-depth and so Innovative   with what it did but it had a two-tiered type  of system you have the ground combat which was   cool your standard jrpg stuff that's awesome  with the super attacks a shared SP bar regular   attacks magic different things that you can do  different type of classes with each character   your strong attack characters your magic users  your range users multi-hit users but then you   also had the airship battles as well which had  another layer of strategy once again nothing too   crazy overall but was still super fun to play as  and something different in the early 2000s when it   comes to jrpgs so Skies of Arcadia kind of put it  all together and if you're talking about the music   and if you're talking about the story and the  characters that's where this game really shines   the characters have their own Vibe have their own  motivations have their own will it seems you don't   exactly know exactly what's going on with each  character until you finally reveal it and it   finally happens towards the end and there's some  crazy sacrifices and different things that happen   to each character that are definitely kind of like  heart tugging when it comes down to it so I loved   every bit of this game I think it's phenomenal  and it absolutely needs some type of re-release   or remaster on Modern systems so people can  experience this greatness but for right now Skies   of Arcadia legends makes it the number 13 on my  list next up at number 12 is Pokemon Diamond and   Pearl to me this is a generational type of shift  game with the Nintendo DS back in 2007 because   of the online play the Wonder trades what they  did to revolutionize the online and ranking and   battling systems for Pokemon trainers out there  it was just something that couldn't be replicated   by any other company on a portable system with  the builtin quality of life feat feature of the   Nintendo DS having two screens so you can organize  and have everything on that bottom screen and then   have the game play out on the top screen pick your  different attacks that you want to do it was just   a great thing and built-in voice chat something  that Nintendo is still a little bit Bey on when   it comes to the Nintendo switch built-in voice  chat on the Nintendo DS itself so I think that   Pokemon Diamond and Pearl not only signified the  shift of Pokemon to online gameplay and that style   but also the shift in terms of what it can do with  the hardware and what they were going for which to   me put Pokemon on a whole new level gameplay-wise  being able to connect to other Pokemon trainers   worldwide and play but the game itself was awesome  I loved the designs I love the different Pokemon   in the game I like the story in diamond and pro  I didn't think that it was bad at all and I felt   that the gameplay was really refined and the new  Pokemon designs while not necessarily the best   when it comes to a new generation were still  really good and fun to use so I really enjoyed   the extra content as well well after you beat the  game and some of the underground things that you   can do it really struck on lots of different  levels and the music is still to this day we   playay it during my streams it's fantastic music  overall so Pokemon Diamond and Pearl makes the   number 12 on my list coming in at number 11 is  Persona 5 Royal and this game royally improves on   everything when it comes to the base of Persona 5  some things that I found so annoying like momentos   for example is streamlined and better in Persona  5 Royal if you look at the combat in the game   streamlined a little bit more better as well  Sleek press turn system this is still one of   the best systems overall for turn-based RPGs you  have that weakness you exploit that weakness you   get that extra turn Persona 5 does it so sleekly  so stylistically with the menus and the fonts and   the sound effects it's just so fun to play and it  clicks every time you get that hit every time you   connect with that magic every time you get that  critical every time that you get that allout   attack every time you have that stylish pose it's  just super cool overall Persona 5 Royal is its   own character it's its own Beast overall and it  catapulted the Persona series into super stardom   overall being one of the bestselling jrpgs of all  time and one of the games that's still you look at   the Social Links you look at the story you look at  the graphics the music everything combining all of   it it's hard to say many games in the jrpg realm  or just overall are better than what they've been   able to do the added Royal content is Awesome  with the female MC as well what she can bring   to the table and your party some of the different  things that happen in the game the other quality   of life features Persona 5 Royal is the real deal  in complete package and that's why it's number 11   on my list next up at number 10 is Pokemon Heart  Gold and Soul Silver and listen here guys Pokemon   heart gold soul silver by far has the best name  for any jrpg out there because it speaks to what   player Essence is about heart Soul Essence it  all plays into it so I love that name Pokemon   heart gold soul silver and it lives up to that  because this game has a ton of heart and a ton   of Soul overall when you see the different Pokemon  designs to me this is the best generation transfer   so from gen one to gen two gen two to gen 3 what  was the best transfer in terms of designs and   overall look with new additions to Pokemon to me  this is the best one sneel that's a awesome new   Pokemon Steelix there were so many cool looking  Pokémon the addition of Darkness Pokemon Steel   po p and what that did to competitive play Not  only playing by yourself single player and going   through and having to deal with steel Pokemon  that are freaking resistant to everything but   exploiting them with certain types like fire for  example but also Darkness Pokemon as well that had   high attack range but then also can be punched to  Oblivion by a fighting Pokemon and also something   to counter once again the different ghost users  or psychic users so it was really cool to have   all of that and then all of the quality of life  updates they rehauled graphics the Kanto region   everything that they did with the side content in  the game the postgame content still to this day   might be the best postgame content that Pokemon  has done without DLC being added in there it   was all packed into that tiny little cartridge  in that remake back in 2010 Pokemon heart gold   soul silver one of the best a 10 out of 10 RPG  for me and that's why it makes the number 10 on   my list coming in at number nine is Final Fantasy  7 and this is another one of those generational   genre defining type of games for a system and the  PlayStation one back when this came out in 1997   when you saw those commercials and cloud and the  cool hair and the outfit and the huge sword it's   something that was automatically drawn for you  to play everybody even if they didn't like RPGs   wanted to try this game out because it just looked  so cool it came on three discs on the PlayStation   1 it had cool audio CD sound quality all of that  it had the vibes it had the look and it had the   gameplay to back it all up it had the cool looking  characters too Tifa Barrett aith Cloud separo yui   red 13 I mean this was just awesome to see at that  time in 1997 and I love the ATV system that they   did I love the different music I love the combat  scenarios I love the story in the game I thought   the different places that you went to obviously  they did a remake but that necessarily wasn't a   complete remake of the original but re telling of  different things so people have experienced it in   a different type of way but the original release  is still super playable and very very well done   it's still really good and holds up I played it  not too long ago and I still feel the same way   that I felt about it now obviously other stuff has  came out but Final Fantasy 7 is still historic and   still a great playing RPG overall which is why  it makes the number nine on my list coming in at   Number Eight Is Lost Odyssey and this is a game  that I'll never again let another Outlet let me   know like what to play when it comes to jrpgs I'll  look for reference but I'll never say okay this is   the reason why I buy or not buy and I let that  happen with this game with Lost Odyssey with IGN   back in the day and when I played it a couple  years later after it came out in 2008 I swore   to myself I'd never let that happen again and I  haven't since then for a decade plus and I think   that Lost Odyssey is one of those games that it's  so good and so underrated overall because of what   it does with these short stories the short stories  invoke certain emot ions in a long RPG that you're   going to need to get through to understand the  main character's plight to understand his family   and what he's trying to do in the game but overall  the combat this is heru sakaguchi this is the   final fantasy Creator and honestly if he didn't  leave Square anex this could be a Final Fantasy   game this has that Final Fantasy type of vibe  Lost Odyssey just like Final Fantasy is really   really good and it's symbolic in its name overall  there hasn't been anything since then but I think   that's okay in terms of how the game wrapped up  in everything but I love the ring combat system I   think the music is fantastic the story is somewhat  predictable at times but if you infuse the short   stories that go in there along with some of the  twists and turns and what happens it actually   ends up being a very intriguing and great story  that'll make you laugh maybe make you cry make   you sad angry happy sad make you think about  certain things what's happening with different   characters and that's what you want from your  jrpgs that's what you want from your game games   Lost Odyssey does that and still to this day it  looks great running on the Xbox One or the Xbox   series you can play it backwards compatible it's  such a phenomenal and fun game Lost Odyssey makes   the number eight on my list coming in at number  seven is Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition   and the overarching story of Xenoblade Chronicles  plays A Part as this was the original game in the   series The Definitive Edition makes the original  game makes it even better with what they've done   with quality of life features and updates but what  makes xenom Blade Chronicles Definitive Edition so   good in my opinion is the Synergy between what  they've done with the story the game play and   how it all intertwines seeing the future having  shul the monado and being able to intertwine   that so seamlessly with the combat leveling and  what happens in the game as the sole purpose on   a greater crazy things that happens with gods and  other stuff is so well done I love that having the   monado being able to have the monado Arts being  able to do different types of that level that up   and have the gameplay being able to stop certain  things happening if an teammate was going to die   preventing that changing the future all of that  stuff really speaks to me in terms of a fantasy   or something that would be cool to experience  if it was real and Xeno Chronicles does that I   think that the music is probably the best when it  comes to jrpgs out there it's one of the tops of   all time overall with the music so I love that  about this game I think the characters are very   well done too I think that the pacing of the game  is good with the main quest but the side quest   can get a little Annoying here and there but if  you do them you're rewarded very handsomely for   it but the different locations and areas that  you go to what they were able to accomplish on   the original Wii and even on the Nintendo switch  with the different locations and the art is just   really well done and the definitive edition  runs better looks better than the original so   Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition with its  awesome story one of the greatest I'd probably   say the greatest Trilogy story of all time but  the first part of it here one of the best of all   time with this great gam play Synergy between the  monado and the story and how that intertwines the   characters that has to make for me number seven  on my list coming in at number six is Fire Emblem   three houses and the three pronged attack that  they used when it comes to the different houses   with the golden deer blue Lions black Eagles I  think was brilliant because it kind of gives you   a little bit of an era of okay safeness or okay  this is going to be maybe not the hardest core or   intense story but that couldn't be further from  the truth you have essentially two games packed   into one depending on what path that you take you  have the pre-war and then you have the in War era   and things get dark real quick overall which it  already did happen multiple times in the first   part but the second part of the game can be brutal  especially depending on what side you pick but I   love the different paths that there are there's  tons of replay value and content in this game they   have the extra expansion with the Ashen wolves  as well this is a complete experience from front   to back when you're playing through and as Fire  Emblem strategy RPG gameplay it's really refined   and fantastic to go through the maps are fun to  play through Graphics necessarily aren't the best   but the music and the art style makes up for it  when it comes to the flashiness and the different   types of attacks that you can do and what you  can trigger different enemies that you can fight   I think that the art is very well done in  this game and the music is just going to   keep pumping and still be super good there's so  many phenomenal tracks in this game it's going to   get you through some of the toughest battles  because we all know Fire Emblem it's a tough   game I mean if you're playing it on the harder  difficulty with the classic mode where when your   unit dies it's done and I did that in this game  and man I barely got through that final boss it   took me about 15 hours 14 hours I know it took me  double- digit hours so it was crazy and that's I   love Fire Emblem 3 houses I think with all of the  different type of content with the type of story   that it has the amount of Versatility with its  story and its gameplay what you can do with the   different classes the teaching all of that it's  just so well done so it makes the number six on   my list here all right top five here guys starting  out at number five Final Fantasy 6 from the Super   Nintendo this is one of the greatest 16bit RPGs  of all time for good reason I think that it has   one of the most maniacal and best villains  of all time with Kea I think that he's such   a cool deranged unhinged villain it just makes  you wanting to smack him around eventually all   the more eversweet when you finally get to that  point but I think how they handle the different   characters that you can get how you recruit them  I think that was I would say the most interesting   thing about this game I mean obviously the story  is incredible the different characters are awesome   but the total amount of characters for what it was  back in in 1994 on the Super Nintendo was kind of   unprecedented for an RPG that big the Airship the  mode 7 Graphics another staple of the biggest and   best RPGs in the SNES era from square enex that  was all well and good but I think that overall   when you get down to it it's Final Fantasy it's  the ATB it's the combat it's the magic it's the   characters all of that intertwines to create this  magical experience that's just so hard to beat and   I think the iCal the peak of Final Fantasy overall  could be looked back at and say yeah that's Final   Fantasy 6 on the Super Nintendo which people are  experiencing again for the first time as well in   2023 and 2024 with the pixel remaster collection  but when I played it back then I think that it   left a profound longing lasting impact on Me  overall because of everything that it does and   I remember one time you know what I did in this  game I actually like suplex like a train there is   a time that you can suplex a train and that to me  is worth like at least the top 25 right there but   luckily for all of us that love Final Fantasy 6  or that play RPGs you can see all the other things   that it does that's just so good overall so yeah  Final Fantasy 6 is absolutely incredible deserves   to be this high in at number five and honestly  could have been number one overall but it's really   tough once you get up to this point so Final  Fantasy 6 makes it the number five on my list   next up at number four is astral chain and this  is always such a weird thing with this game astral   chain what type of title is it well I'll say this  there's enough aspects in here for me to call it   an action RPG so Japanese RPG whatever you want  to kind of put it as it's not in the traditional   sense as in the party members and all of that  but you still have the leveling you still have   the different Legions that are essentially classes  that you can use you still have your own personal   character as well you still have all the different  things that you would go through when it comes   down to it definitely more of an action title with  a lot of RPG elements but I'm including it because   it's just so freaking awesome and I wanted to  talk about it some more so it gets included in   here but I do think some of the RPG elements in it  right like the leveling up getting the different   nodes and like the skill trees and the different  abilities really plays a part into what makes this   game so fun to play mechanically overall it's such  a unique and Innovative game in terms of how to   play it how you have your legion out you have your  own character that you're using it's chained up   they're attacking you're attacking you're doing  different things you're wrapping people up the   detective police Parts in the game are also a nice  little change of pace and it kind of gives you a   break from all of the high octane action from  time to time during the levels there's so many   cool different unique techniques that's put inside  of this game and so many elements that they pulled   from from their experience with near automata  for example a game like that and other RPGs   other action games like Bayonetta they kind of all  put it together into one to create this action RPG   that just feels so right to play overall and yes  the story necessarily isn't the most flashiest or   best story or has the biggest oh my gosh moments  but I do think that it's functional and it works   for what they're trying to do within the story  and I think that it does create some Intrigue in   terms of what happens to certain characters and  what's going to happen potentially in the future   if there is a sequel to this title I think that  all of the content that's already packed into the   game is very well done very much like a lot of the  games on this list it's a complete experience for   the most part right there with the base game you  don't necessarily need any type of DLC or extra   content and if it does it has postgame content  already locked in there right on the cartridge   so you can play it right then and there once  you're done with the game so I really enjoyed   my time with ashel chain I think it's phenomenal  and that's why it's number four on my list next   up at number three is Fire Emblem Awakening and  I have to be honest here guys this is more of   an emotional still very good functional pick  for me because of the gameplay in there but   the emotional attachment that I do have to Fire  Emblem Awakening can never be broken because it   came at a time where I was really struggling in  my own personal life and this game spoke to me in   so many ways that transcended just the video game  itself so for me Fire Emblem Awakening spoke to me   in so many different types of ways but if you take  all of that that I talked about with the emotional   attachment with the kids coming from the future  in order to save the current present day despite   their future being screwed and there's no way that  that's going to be fixed I love that it's such a   cool thing not Dragon Ball Z future Trunks all of  that type of stuff but I think that the combat you   have to have that silky smooth great gameplay that  goes along with it and Fire Emblem really hit that   note I think that they really took some strides to  make fire emblem such a fun game to really show it   to a bigger audience to where sales exploded Fire  Emblem Awakening was such a Monumental moment for   the franchise a game that I've been playing for  a long time but really didn't quite understand   fully until Fire Emblem Awakening and it really  opened my eyes to the rest of the series but Fire   Emblem Awakening was so good in its combat I love  the pairing up of your units and being able to do   blocks and attacks I think that the maps were very  well done except for when you get ambushed out of   nowhere and you don't have much time to react I  think the difficulty was there the world map was   great the music really fit in there was somber  tones when it needed to be it was upbeat when it   had to be and I think that it really really  showed what this team could do even on this   small little Nintendo 3DS what they were able to  do on this system was incredible and they showed   what Fire Emblem could really be everything that  they put into that game with the combat and the   gameplay and The Story So Fire Emblem Awakening  is a phenomenal experience from front to back and   I think that's why it made it into the top three  on my list coming in at number two is Xenoblade   Chronicles 3 plus future redeemed and to me these  come as a bundled package because you can't play   them individually you need Xenoblade Chronicles 3  in order to play Future redeemed but very similar   to Zen Blade Chronicles 2 plus T of the Golden  Country I consider these together into one package   and when you do that I think that really this game  explodes to the top of the list because overall   when it comes to story my favorite individual  story is Xenoblade Chronicles 3 plus future   redeemed however you need the other games to  kind of supplement that but if you do that's why   this game is so high up for me but even aside  from that I think that the music is super high   quality we know what Xeno brings to the table but  I think that the personal connection of each of   the characters being able to bring back characters  like shul and Rex and having their kids in there   as well with glimmer and Nicole that is just the  stuff of fanmade Legends those are the type of   things that you wouldn't think would happen that  when they show it up and when we finally saw it   it created such an impact after playing 100 hours  of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 to see that in future   redeemed but speaking of Xenoblade Chronicles  3 and the Bas game they did so many good things   with this game the combat I think that they took  care of the blade system making sure that they   said okay let's get rid of that let's put in the  hero system as well so we can get all these cool   different Heroes and you can actually use their  abilities in there and there's a lot of mixing   and matching the pacing of this game is by far  the best in any Xeno game gone are a lot of the   weird little fetch quests that really don't do too  much and they replaced it with a system to where   whenever you're collecting things and people need  help you'll be able to automatically turn that   mission in Via a menu instead and collect those  rewards and then the big side quests actually   lead to really meaningful story kind of like  main stuff that happens but if you don't seek   out those quests if you don't look at those little  yellow question marks you're not going to find it   so there's really a lot of incentive to really  go through in Zen Chronicles 3 and in future   redeemed but go through explore the whole map talk  to every character explore every single possible   Avenue get all the different quests because  you never know when something crazy is going to   happen some awesome stuff happened that I don't  want to spoil if you haven't played it yet but   so many cool things happened by simply the side  quest that in the previous Xenoblade games those   would have just been absolutely nothing overall  with the main story but in Zen Blade Chronicles 3   they turned those into their own thing their own  main quests that are side quests so I loved it   in this game I think that the combat is the best  in the series series The Udo buos is awesome to   take advantage of I love the story behind those  characters and kind of what happens there I like   the teaming up and pairing up of the units going  through I like the pacing I love how they worked   in the Zen Chronicles 2 T of the Golden Country  campfires and everything so they kind of took all   of the different Pieces of What made Zen Blade  Chronicles one and two awesome cut out the stuff   that wasn't so good and really polished it up and  added a whole another layer on top when it comes   to it and it created to me the best Xenoblade  game with future redeemed combined in there as   well so with all of that Zen Chronicles 3 plus  future redeemed makes it the number two on my   list and coming in at number one it's the one and  only Chrono Trigger from the Super Nintendo and   yes the DS version is also awesome the PC version  does o and it and the PC version is okay now at   this point but Chrono Trigger to me is still the  quintessential top RPG of all time and I'm going   to give you guys a number of reasons why it still  has that incredible Super Nintendo swag which is   all too important at this point you can pick it  up right now and play and it still plays like a   dream it's as smooth as butter but also the  gameplay the characters and the writing now   I've mentioned that before in previous games  that we've talked about but I truly mean it   with this game you can go through and play and it  doesn't seem dated at all it seems right in place   the Riders were ahead of their time the combat  was ahead of its time nothing too crazy overall   but when you start looking at everything that it  does with the Dual text and the triple text and   the different team members that you can do and the  extra side quest that you have depending on what   version you're playing with the Nintendo DS some  of that extra stuff but even with the base game   overall and the side quests that are packed into  there this is a game that you can go through and   play multiple times has multiple outguns different  endings it is a versatile game with so much cool   content so many different things packed into  it you don't necessarily know how to feel when   something happens or when you go for a different  ending or when you activate certain things that   happen in the game it's a game that feels great  to play over all the ATB system or if you want   to play it there is an easy mode with the weight  strictly turn-based system as well it gives you   the versatility in order to play the game the way  that you want to play it as well not a hard game   not a super long game but a lot of replayability  with new game plus and simply just seeing all   the different endings and doing different things  that you didn't do before whether you want to take   out maggus whether you want to keep him whether  you want to see what happens with Glenn or frog   however you want to say his name as well different  things that happen if you do certain side quests   or not so for me I explored this game fully I  think that the combat the gameplay the music   which is by far the best soundtrack of all time to  me this is the number one soundtrack you have like   the best gameplay best soundtrack best graphics on  Super Nintendo or one of the best graphics for it   it has so many different things that is fitting  of the name of the team that made this with the   dream team with herin no sakaguchi and aara  Toriyama and nbua uatu and everybody that put   together this Legendary game at Square end Square  soft back in the day so Chrono Trigger still the   number one game still the best in my eyes still  holds up very much today and to me is the number   one jrpg of all time thank you guys so much for  watching this video I do appreciate it please make   sure you hit that like button subscribe if
