welcome to the inevitable end of year 2022 that was a bit underwhelming when it comes to gaming some things bomb some things were brilliant but we have another year of awesome stuff coming up so let's take a seat and look into the future of the best RPG games coming in 2023 roll the intro me [Music] now before we officially begin let me just note that depending on when you're watching this some of the dates might no longer be correct due to delays and some games might not have a specific day release announced yet at least right now this however is the best time frame that's available in December 2022 right after all the announcements done during the game awards since this turned out to be a long video I divided everything into chapters hopefully this will make it easier for you to navigate let's begin number one first spoken back in 2020 Sony announced project afia a timed exclusive for PS5 and PC from the studio behind Final Fantasy XV a year later the game was renamed to first spoken and given a release date however after two delays it is now expected to release on January 24th what can you expect from first spoken as the studio promotes it the game follows the story of Frey Holland a New Yorker who is transported to the land of athia in search of a way home she will use magic obtained through a sentient bracelet named cuff to travel across the land and battle monsters the Square Enix describes first spoken as a narrative driven Adventure whereas the director highlights that the gameplay will be focused on terrain traversal speed and fluidity what strikes me as the most interesting and unusual is the upgrade system in forespoken you will improve Frey's Powers by upgrading the quote that you have and special abilities and Buffs will be applied by putting on magical nail polish now that's something I'm not sure I've seen before we'll see how it all works out when the game comes out in January if you feel like trying it out at the game awards it was announced that the demo of the game has gone live on PlayStation consoles let me know in the comments how you liked it if you played it number two Hogwarts Legacy the game probably requires no introduction but just in case I will give you some background info Hogwarts Legacy is the first AAA game in the Harry Potter franchise that is being made in a really long time it is set about 100 years before the events of JK Rowling's books but the castle will definitely feel familiar you'll get to become the students of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry develop your magical skills brew potions Harvest plants and tame magical beasts unfortunately no quidditch players will have a chance to solve the mystery of the dark arts make meaningful choices and fight lots of evil witches creatures and probably even goblins who planned the Rebellion you'll get to fly using the broom or magical beasts you'll get to explore hogsmead and basically live out the fantasy of attending magical school I'll be thoroughly disappointed if young Dumbledore doesn't make an appearance in the game to be honest the game was originally planned for 2022 but it got delayed to February 10 2023 however if you get the deluxe or collector's edition you'll get to hop into Hogwarts 3 days early earlier on February 7th for now you can connect your Harry Potter fan club account with Warner Bros games account to transfer your chosen house and one straight into the game and get some additional Cosmetics for your character neat number three darkest dungeon 2. here we go Red Hulk Studios and their completely unforgiving series of games the first darkest dungeon launched in January 2016 with its sequel starting its Early Access run in October 2021 since then the game has slowly been developed on epic game store and in March this year the developers confirmed that they plan to launch version 1.0 in February 2023 for those of you who don't know what darkest dungeon is all about it's basically a roguelike Dungeon Crawler in which you not only need to pay attention to your Heroes HP but also their mental health turn-based battles require tactical thinking cunning and proper setup of your little band of Misfits to have them synergize well I personally loved the first game and did a little bit of testing of the sequel when it initially came out however I'll go back to it once it's fully out hopefully that's indeed going to happen in February next year if you're looking for a challenge though and you're not a fan of buying Early Access games I can still recommend getting the first one number four woo long Fallen Dynasty team ninja so the people behind Dead or Alive Ninja Gaiden and Neo are now working on wulong Fallen Dynasty a game set in 184 A.D the steam page description mentions the game's story following a nameless militia Soldier fighting for survival in a dark fantasy version of the Later Han Dynasty where demons plague the Three Kingdoms if you played Neo you know what to expect more or less but this time the devs want to focus more on pure action with equipment not playing such a crucial role even though the game will take place in more closed spaces at the same time those locations are supposed to give players more freedom than what Neo did similar to their previous series you can expect to take part in real historical battles side by side with famous people from that era even though there's going to be a lot of fantasy Vibes especially with demons lurking around fans have previous team Ninja Games should be content with what the devs have in stock for March number 5 Flintlock the siege of dawn deaths from a44 games are coming up with a really nice looking action RPG called Flintlock the siege of dawn which aims to put gods and guns within one world in a very God of worry manner our aim seems to be to make a stand and lay one final Siege Against The Gods steam page presents the world as follows the door to the afterlife has been opened allowing the old gods Army of the undead to Escape From Within the living are on the brink of Extinction it's time for the Coalition Army to retake their world what we can expect is a blend of combat using axis guns magic and apparently more than that even though visually the game doesn't seem to be the most original in what we're used to the whole premise behind it seems to be at least a little bit appealing the team behind Flintlock doesn't really have the best record their previous game Ashen even though appreciated by the critics sits with a 6.0 user score and Metacritic can't say I'm not intrigued though we'll see what happens when it launches number six Horizon forbidden West Burning Shores during the game awards 2022 it was announced that the latest Horizon forbidden West is getting an expansion no surprise here the story of Eloy will continue in burning Shores an expansion that will take us to Los Angeles that we could easily pinpoint as the game's setting thanks to that huge Hollywood Sign let me quote the Playstation blog on some details it's an overgrown and fractured City that can be fully explored via the water and flying on the back of a sun wing a massive machine threat lurks in its Shadows a huge challenge that Eloy must overcome by using all of her skills and abilities what's important to note is that contrary to the base game this expansion will only be coming to the PS5 as mentioned by the game director Matthias DeYoung to achieve the game's Grand Vision technically and creatively they had to make the difficult decision to abandon preparing this story for the last gen gotta admit I'm excited while Horizon zero Dawn didn't really grow on me I liked forbidden West much more and can't wait to explore the burning Shores number seven The Legend of Zelda tears of the Kingdom this one goes to all of you switch owners out there The Legend of Zelda is obviously a no-brainer for all Nintendo fans breath of the wild pleased a lot of people and I'm sure tears of the Kingdom will continue that Trend I guess the game will go bigger better Bolder and any other positive adjective beginning with b that you can come up with first announce at E3 2019 as a sequel to breath of the wild in 2021 presented with another trailer showing off some gameplay and story and at 2022 release date however the game got delayed and during Nintendo Direct in September this year we received a final date of May 12 2023. this franchise is either a hit or miss for players you either love the series or you're not going to become a fan at all either way it seems that you will not only explore hyrule's land but also the skies coupled with some new fancy mechanics keep an eye out on that one for sure number eight Diablo 4. Diablo 4 is Blizzard's way of trying to regain players trust number three was a huge success back in 2012 despite some hiccups like the infamous error 37 or players complains regarding over colorfulness of the whole game Diablo 4 however seems to be aiming for a much more Grim aesthetic similar to previous games in the series with the Diablo Immortal being a financial hit despite not being the best PR overall this one should please the long-term fans of the series and at the same time it might not these days games usually come as live service and the same thing is supposed to happen to Diablo 4. you can expect microtransactions battle passes seasonal activities daily quests timers on Merchants and other things that might not make you happy if you're not used to mechanics prevalent in MMOs and mobile games when it comes to Basics the world will be bigger requiring amount to travel you can expect areas with recommended power levels 5 classes Barbarian Druid Necromancer Rogue as well as a sorcerer and lots and lots of enemies to mutilate with all your powers I admit I'm a bit skeptical but at the same time I'm certain I want to try it out number nine Final Fantasy 16. once again one of the longest running series of all time that keeps Reinventing itself to appeal to new audiences while trying to stay true to all of the hardcore fans even though these days what's being mentioned the most is Final Fantasy VII remake and Final Fantasy 14 dubbed as the World of Warcraft killer 16 will be the first emirated game in the series as it aims to be more realistic in its depiction of the world and conflict not necessarily doing anything specific to up the violence the game is set in the world of valestaya where people live in peace thanks to Mother crystals the story will focus on Clive rossfield the firstborn child of the Archduke of Rosaria who embarks on a quest for Revenge what you can expect is a combination of melee combat and magical abilities but if you already know Final Fantasy series you know that's exactly what you should expect I must admit I was never a big fan of the series but I'm definitely the last person to say that it's not a solid RPG if you're keen on what jrpgs offer number 10 Starfield [Music] Todd Todd Todd if I were to pinpoint two people in the whole gaming industry that bring smile to my face then the forerunners would be Phil Spencer and Todd Howard though for completely different reasons While most people can't wait for The Elder Scrolls 6 and next installment in the Fallout series what's coming sooner from Bethesda is their first original Ip in over 25 years and that's Starfield though no one really knew what to expect after its announcement in 2018 these days we're a bit more informed and yet worried at the same time the words Skyrim and space can bring both Joy and Dread after all the game is set in what is called the settled systems and takes place in 24th century some 20 years after what was dubbed The Colony War obviously you get to create your own character and you will complete quests develop your skills explore space in your own customizable ship basically it's a Bethesda game in Space the question now remains whether we'll meet a space cowboy telling us that yet another space settlement requires a resistance or whether we'll get launched into space by big creatures with futuristic clubs you know what I mean as I said I'm both excited and a bit worried but I'm definitely playing that one to figure out whether I can finally climb that mountain that Todd promised me I could go to number 11 Baldur's Gate 3. this thing is what bringing Classics to the Modern Age looks like a whole lot of history and a good opinion follows balder's gate franchise that launched in 1998 made by BioWare and black Isle Studios when it was announced that larion Studios will be doing Baldur's gay three people got excited because previously they delivered a fantastic Divinity original sin too the game has been in Early Access since October 2020 and currently sits at 87 positive rating on Steam when it comes to all reviews since launch you can play the game in both single player or as a Co-op multiplayer you can create one or more characters and then form a true RPG party that you had on an adventure with the game is based on the 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons just like the previous game in Lauren's portfolio the game is set over 120 years after the events of the second Baldur's Gate and if you so wish you can actually get into the world thanks to the descent into avernus which is an adventure model to 5th edition of DnD and serves as a kind of prologue to bg3 the story involves mind flayers parasites and you being the hero of the story obviously when the game initially launched it only included the First Act and about one-fifth of the world map and that still accounted to approximately 25 hours of content so when it fully launches in August this thing will be big please still make Michael Scott joke in your first video Mike that's what she said number 12 cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty this is absolutely one of the top things I'm waiting for in 2023 I loved cyberpunk 2077 even though it had a rocky start I loved what CD projekt Red did with Mike pondsmith setting I loved the story and I regularly listened to the game's music while driving and then there was the edge Runners anime released this year that was absolutely brilliant for now the studio was very limited with sharing details about the upcoming expansion but we first got a teaser and the name of the expansion in September this year and then there's that trailer showed during the game awards that introduced Idris Elba playing Salomon Reed so now they have another great name paired with Keanu Reeves the game is to take place in an all-new District of night city which sounds fun everyone expects the expansion to be bigger than Witcher 3 expansions mostly due to the fact that the studio confirmed that this will be the only expansion made for cyberpunk contrary to the original announcement that the game would get at least as many as Witcher 3 got it's worth noting that if you're still on last gen consoles you won't be getting any of that as the game will no longer be up created on PS4 and Xbox One apart from the basic fixes I have huge expectations for that expansion and I hope cdpr can deliver more of the cyberpunky goodness fingers crossed number 13 lies of P [Music] now this game is one of the more interesting Concepts on today's list basically we get a Souls like RPG game that is a Twist on the tale of Pinocchio that so many of us probably heard or watched years before the developers from round 8 mentioned that the game has a unique lie system where what you do and say as the main character dynamically affects gameplay which sounds fun already I really like the game's blurb on Steam where the game is set to be set in a dark Bell a Pock world and players have to guide Pinocchio on his unrelenting journey to become human hopefully we don't get to Detroit with this very funny mic the value I get from the visuals alone actually gets me going to be honest I'm not a big Souls like fan as these games require too much learning from me until I actually enjoy them but this if this thing is not as punishing as all from software games I might give it a go with no specific release date given apart from the vague 2023 I must say that I do hope it's coming by the end of next year though this industrial and dystopian world has me hugged for now number 13 the Lords of the Fallen the Lords of the Fallen is actually a sequel to a game called Lords of the Fallen from 2014 and it's not confusing at all I didn't really expect this project to be still alive but hey apparently it's on track for release in 2023 why am I surprised well the sequel was actually announced back in 2014 and was originally set to launch in 2017. obviously it didn't in 2018 CI games that was working on the game announced that it is now partnered with Defiance Studios two years later that partnership has ended and now hexworks became their new best friends this is the studio that's actually working on the Lords of the Fallen as it was presenting during Gamescom 2022. the game is set about thousand years after the events of the original the Demonic God either has been slain but after a few centuries he's set to be reborn and of course it's up to us to make sure that he doesn't tear everything apart this time as one of the dark Crusaders steam page says that we'll get to journey across two expensive parallel worlds we'll see how enjoyable it gets once the game is out TGA trailer at least showed a bit of gameplay so it's up to you to decide how much you like what you see still no specifically state yet number 15 Dragon Age dread wolf oh my this one is on my watch list for many years now obviously BioWare is in a weird condition right now back in 2017 they released Mass Effect Andromeda to a mixed response though I personally liked it a lot then Anthem failed spectacularly so both dread wolf and the next Mass Effect is probably the final Lifeline of the studio as long as it doesn't want to be remembered just as a bunch of devs that keep the Old Republic alive all the information point to the fact that the actual development began in 2015 though in late 2016 it was put on hold until after Andromeda launched the work resumed but six months later EA apparently canceled the project in its original idea development began Anew in 2018 but two years later the game lost some poor staff again Reports say that EA hoped to make this game more live service-like but actually both the failure of Anthem and the success of Jedi fall in order made it possible to focus it as a single player only game yay while it was first officially announced at the game awards 2018 it took two years to get a proper teaser trailer this year we learned that Dragon H4 is actually Dragon Age Red Wolf which is yet another pointer to the fact that we will continue to explore the story of Solas from Inquisition I do admit I hoped for a release date on this year's game awards but we didn't get any hopefully it doesn't mean it won't release in 2023 number 16 Final Fantasy VII rebirth back to Final Fantasy though this time it's about a part 2 of number 7. once Final Fantasy 7 remake released it proved to be a masterpiece for many developers announced that it's actually going to be a Trilogy which makes rebirth the second part of that trilogy the first part ended on the big Cliffhanger and apparently fans should expect even more deviations from the original story of ff7 than what ff7 remake offered creative director tetsuya nomura said two years ago that players actually don't need to play the first part to be able to enjoy rebirth let me provide you with a quote here Final Fantasy VII is being designed so that people can enjoy this game whether they know the original game or not in fact new players might even enjoy starting their Final Fantasy 7 Journey with rebirth cloud and his friends embark on a New Journey in this game and I believe that the scenes that they witnessed after leaving midgar will give players a fresh new experience if rebirth is at least as good as ff7 remake I think there's no place for any doubt about the quality of the game so fans of the original can actually enjoy a new Twist on their beloved game whereas new players get to experience Cloud Stripes more modern story with very modern visuals number 17 Path of Exile 2. foreign the first Path of Exile came to be known as the Diablo killer the team from grinding gear games has been hard at work with regular updates changes and generally doing stuff better than Diablo 3 did years after its launch now we keep hearing about Path of Exile 2 which is a bit of a mystery and at the same time we know quite a lot about it Exile con 2023 an event for defense of Poe is planned for Late July 2023 and it is already announced that players will hear and see more about Path of Exile 2 there moreover they'll be able to play it by themselves on location after that the game is expected to go into closed beta probably for paid supporters followed by an open Beta fans of the series suggest that December 2023 is actually a doable release date for poe2 based on how usually new league updates are released now the important bit is that Poe is a case similar to OverWatch 2 so it's actually an additional campaign for the base Path of Exile that will improve on the current game introduced a new storyline that will be available next to the original one and there will be new classes but all these existing accounts characters and cosmetics will be preserved for Poe too basically GGG doesn't want to screw people over if they paid lots of money for these past few years and yeah I personally think that the dev team is also waiting to see what Diablo 4 shows so that they can top it when poe2 releases time will tell number 18 broken roads this is one of the more interesting ones for the fans of the old school RPG games do you remember Fallout series back when it was not made by Bethesda and not in a first or third person perspective those days are long gone but the drop bear byte Studio wants to bring some of it back especially with calling makuma in the studio who previously worked on games like fallout Fallout 2 planescape tournament and tormund tides of numenera in this game we get a chance to visit the land down under where the population is engaged in a daily brutal fight versus Revival while we play we'll oftentimes make decisions that will not only affect the world around us but also our character's personality thanks to the game's original moral system called the moral compass the way the devs describe it is as follows this novel design sees dialogue options and questing decisions influence and be influenced by a character's philosophical leaning it's a turn-based tactical combat with a team of up to 5 party members blending traditional and original RPG mechanics I honestly want to see how it turns out number 19 Ben punishers ghosts of new Eden here's a fresh announcement that I wasn't really expecting the studio that brought us a wonderful life is strange series done not entertainment is doing an action RPG about hunting ghosts apparently the story of the game is set in 1695 and new Eden where antea Duarte in the red Mack wraith are lovers and banishers meaning the Ghost Hunters who vowed to protect the living from the threat of lingering ghosts and specters on their last mission and Taya is fatally wounded and becomes one of the spirits that she's not really a fan of the couple roams the Wilds of North America to find a way to liberate the woman from the situation they found themselves in as the banishers will get to solve haunting cases and combine antea's spiritual Powers with Red's Arsenal to defeat ghosts seems like ante will not only be a follower but actually a playable character together with red and will be unlocking new gear and abilities as the game goes on sticking true to what Dunt not does best we'll get to make a lot of meaningful and morally ambiguous choices that affect the story and fate of the characters I didn't know I wanted a game about hunting ghosts now I do number 20 Robin Hood Sherwood builders [Music] for the last game on the list I have something that may as well turn out to be absolutely uninventive unplayable and on something in theory Robin Hood share with Builder sounds fun as it Blends action adventure RPG with city building elements you know Robin Hood it's the guy that steals from the rich and gives to the poor and this one we'll get a chance to play as Robin and fight to hunt craft steal and help the local community within an open world environment the publisher of this game is the Polish playway which has some hits in its portfolio like car mechanic simulator but at the same time it has a lot of Misses all within the simulator gaming area whatever simulator you can think of playway has probably done it already now I honestly hope that this game has more of its own character than the regular manufacturer of Sim games that playway spurts out of its wallet fingers crossed honestly okay we're finally done with the list I know I didn't cover all the interesting RPG games that come out in 2023 and depending on the time you're watching this there may be some new games announced that are more worthy to make that list I'd be extremely happy if you took some time and leave a comment and tell me what RPG game you're looking forward to the most and leave some feedback if you want this video marks the official launch of Gamer's couch so I hope you enjoyed it and we'll be back for more when it's out have a great day [Music] thank you
