and facts such as exhibitions prominent collections Publications Etc as the art world is always on the move and the next artists who want to enter the top 20 are already knocking on the door it was about time that we made it an updated version of this selection some artists sadly passed away and we have also altered our definitions of what is a painter slightly in order to enter some artists who are also occupied with sculpture and installation but are very influential as well as a painter now that being said let's dive into the top 20 with our first living icon on this list the first artist on our list is none other than Frank's teller Stella was born in 1936 in Malden Massachusetts a suburb of Boston and currently lives and works in New York City tell is one of the most important painters of the second half of the 20th century and has remained relevant since the new millennium the American Artist is best known for his shaped canvases pushing the boundaries of painting and
