when you first think of marvel i doubt that your mind immediately goes to scary right dc's got that area pretty much down pat but that doesn't mean marvel hasn't put their name in that scary hat with a few truly terrifying characters of their own some of them that are even too scary to bring onto the big screen what's going on all you nerdy folk out there my name is jack and today we are going to be taking a look at some of the most terrifying super villains that marvel has to offer in terms of both methods and just straight up looks as well i tried to avoid any characters that are not owned by disney and marvel so i'm sorry if i missed some of your favorites i really tried to keep the list exclusive to characters that could end up in the mcu so let's get into it number 10 vermin edward whelan from earth 616 had a pretty average childhood aside from his abusive father which is actually what led him to the streets and crime now it's not exactly known when but at some point he got the attention of baron zemo and was subjected to many tests that gave him various rat-like traits and abilities aside from the obvious rat-like appearances his strength stamina speed and durability were boosted to superhuman levels and he also gained the ability to communicate with and command rats that are up to two miles away after gaining these powers he sent out to end captain america however he ended up being overpowered by cap and taken back to shield for interrogation he managed to escape fairly quickly though and since then he has been a pretty big thorn in both captain america and spider-man sides however they have actually used him to their advantage sometimes as spidey once used him as bait for craving the hunter wheelen since his introduction has been a part of the hoods gang and the new revengers so he has definitely been in his fair share of crazy fights and done some terrible things like the time he almost straight up murdered spider-man and would have succeeded if he wasn't interrupted the reason i think he's too scary for the mcu to bring in is because he not only looks utterly terrifying but thanks to his genetic alterations his mental capabilities are at subhuman levels meaning he pretty much works on primal instincts alone i mean sure he's still able to talk but his reasoning skills are not the best so he's pretty ruthless and let's not forget that he also likes to eat people check him out for yourself in his first appearance in 1982's captain america number 270 and let me know if you agree with me number nine one above all residing in the lowest depths of the underworld known as the below place the one below all is the dark counterpart of the one above all it is the source of the mutagenic third form of gamma energy which allows it to use gamma mutates to manifest itself whenever it feels it's necessary the one below all is actually what gave the hulk his powers in the first place as the gamma bomb test partially opened the green door that blow was kept behind fast forward through some really cool events that you should definitely check out for yourself and we see the one below all possess the bodies of brian banner as the devil hulk walter lonkowski of sasquatch and the absorbing man which led to the final battle of the immortal hulk arc revealing its true form a giant green cloud of crazy gamma energy the one below all torments the hulk so much that bruce banner and the hulk actually separate however absorbing man was able to reroute the gamma energy the demon was using it back into the hulk's body and with one powerful thunderclap the one below always stopped at least this time anyways one below always two's terrifying for the mcu in my opinion because he's literally a god and the reason behind all the gamma radiation and the gamma power being such as the hulk and abomination you know etc i mean who knows honestly if they want to send mark ruffalo off with a great story they could finally give him his own movie trilogy and have this demon as his final battle i highly doubt it though so in the meantime check out the one below all in his first appearance in 2018's immortal hulk number five number eight nightmare this super villain is basically the freddy krueger of the marvel universe and if just knowing that isn't scary enough for you then buckle up classified as a class 3 demon able to capture a sleeping person's ash reform nightmare's whole thing is able to bring their form into his realm to torture them and the effects of that can last for hours even after they wake up nightmare has been a major pain for many heroes in the marvel universe including peter parker and the hulk and none more so than doctor strange that poor guy seems to get the biggest and baddest baddies out there but i guess that's the price you pay when you're the most powerful sorcerer strange has made it clear that he makes a regular habit of casting a protection spell before he goes to sleep so he does not have to go toe-to-toe with this villain later in this character's run we see nightmare growing stronger by the minute able to access human minds through the american dream alone and he caused these people to go on a violent rampage until he was finally stopped by captain america and shield skip ahead a little bit more and we actually see the death of this character up against loki in which the trickster god used one of iron man's automated cars who just straight up flapping nightmare so hey at least we know we can be killed right what makes him so scary to me and definitely too scared for the mcu is he's literally the boogeyman he's capable of wreaking havoc at any given time his ability to terrorize the mind and attract his victims is in a never-ending horror makes him uniquely scary and i doubt lovable disney would ever want to cause nightmares in their viewers now there is a new doctor strange coming out in 2022 though so maybe we'll get to see this villain or maybe we'll get a mention of them for now check him out in his first appearance in 1963 strange tales number 10. number seven shumagorith older than time itself shumagorth is essentially marvel's take on a lovecraftian eldrit's horror it is an unknown cosmic entity that used to run earth before we pesky humans came along so as you can imagine schuma takes offense at this and often comes back to reclaim his old stomping ground doctor strange is more and often than not the only one who can actually fight this thing without completely losing his mind in the process but as cosmic beings are known to do it can never really be truly killed it is considered to be the primal power of chaos and the greatest of the old ones and aside from immeasurable strength tsumagorth is also capable of creating powerful blasts of mystical energy that can literally wipe out planets although its presence is usually unexpected and unwelcome dr strange did have to summon a small part of it once during thanos invasion of manhattan to wreak havoc on the city and draw attention away from themselves outside of our own reality schumacher has invaded many other earths such as earth 9411 and 99-97 however it is very rare that they come out on top because there is usually a doctor strange or a group of heroes there to put a stop to them this terrifying villain is a bit too scary for the mcu in my opinion because well i mean just take a look at it it is literally a massive eyeball and tentacles just like a real cthulhu vibe going on and i'm not really a huge fan we might end up seeing him in multiverse of madness or even in whatever the third movie will be for doctor strange i love crafty and elder god would certainly be a badass final boss for doctor strange check out shumagorth for yourself in 1973's marvel premiere number 10 and let me know in the comments if you think an on-screen version could be on its way number six demon bear i mean from the name alone you can probably guess why this one is scary but just stay with me okay created by a villain with a cursed knife demon bear is a corrupted apache bear spirit he haunts the dreams of danielle moonstar of the new mutants because he was actually made from her parents in her nightmares he tells her he killed her parents and that she's next so in a way he's actually linked to her psyonic abilities to create illusions except his illusion is more of a demon like a regular old bear demon bear has the vicious tendencies you would expect from a wild animal however there is a lot more than meets the eye drawing his powers from negative human emotions demon bear can also teleport transform and corrupt human souls he has gone up against other marvel characters aside from the new mutants including ghost rider and warpath however it was actually psylocke who ultimately drove up the demon and saved the spirit bear within he actually hangs out by her side as a companion now so i guess he did get to redeem himself in some way i think this character is way too scared for the mcu because he is literally an all-powerful bear that is capable of tormenting people and not to mention he feeds off the negative emotions so he only grows stronger the more the person doubts their abilities around him that's just too much for one character and i really can't see marvel bringing him in anytime soon so why not check him out for yourself in his first appearance in 1983's new mutants to tide yourself over until we finally get to see him in all his furry glory number five gore the god butcher born on a planet with no name gore was taught from the very beginning to always trust the gods however they never seemed to answer his prayers stricken with grief after the loss of his parents wife and son gore completely gave up hope and renounced his faith from the gods however while wandering the desert he actually encountered the god no while he was engaged in battle with another god with confirmation that the gods are real gore was needless to say pretty mad and when the one god asked for help gore actually used a piece of null symbiote and created the all-black necrosword to kill it from then on he vowed to take vengeance on all the gods for ignoring his prayers and thus began his journey as gore the god butcher wandering around the universe gore absorbs the power of every god he comes in contact with torturing and killing along his warpath that is until he finally meets the mighty thor the god butcher storyline ranges across eons of time as gore absorbs the ability to time travel and ends in an epic conclusion against three periods of thor's life young thor avengers aerothor and obviously old king thor now i doubt gore will ever grace the screen in the mcu because he is just way too powerful equipped with the necro sword he carries around he has the capability to literally slay anything that comes his way if he was introduced much earlier on he would have been a much bigger threat than thanos also you know just a man who's lost his faith and has nothing to lose is definitely not someone you want to mess with give a story or read for yourself starting with his first appearance in 2013's thor god of thunder number two number four annihilus known as the living death that walks or the lord of the negative zone annihilus is an insect-like creature with some truly insane power he was exposed to an object called the cosmic control rod which extended his lifespan and gave him his powers these powers include continuous rebirth superhuman levels of strength speed durability and stamina and flight of course obsessed with protecting the rod he did absolutely everything he could to keep it from everyone else until the fantastic four took it away from him annihilus has at various times been the ruler of the negative zone controlling its inhabitants via his powerful cosmic control rod he first encountered the fantastic four after reed richards discovered how to travel to the negative zone from earth over the years he clashed with the fantastic four on many occasions often with the group foiling his plan to invade earth he would later lead an enormous fleet of spaceships from the negative zone into the main universe setting off the annihilation wave by destroying a ton of planets the armada was opposed by a number of cosmic heroes such as star-lord draxler destroyer and the silver surfer and was thankfully stopped by the cosmic entity galactus with nova killing annihilus in the process he was later reborn as an infant in the aftermath of the annihilation storyline but other than that we have seen annihilus go up against the likes of many other heroes and he has been a worthy adversary to say the least now i doubt we'll see this character in the mcu any time soon just due to their immense power and ability to literally broadcast intense fear into the others the likes of which has even been able to shake the hulk it's possible that we'll see them later on once more powerful characters such as nova and adam warlock are introduced but they are too big a threat give their story a read for yourself starting with 1968's fantastic four annual number six number three the maker now unlike his earth 616 counterpart reed richards is about 20 years younger born into a completely normal family and uh god what was it oh yeah he's insane now i'll try not to spoil too much of the story for you because i really think it deserves a read but i will do my best to give you just the basics following an explosion that left richard's presumably dead the fantastic form of mortis loss but in reality he's actually alive and well and he actually set off the explosion himself and was responsible for a ton of other attacks around the city convinced that he knows how the world should be run from now on he is willing to do whatever he thinks is right regardless of the consequences thankfully he is stopped by a group of heroes and he has flung into the negative zone but it didn't take him too long to get back though and he easily took over most of europe fast forward a little bit and we see him form the dark ultimates but they were quickly defeated by the power of the infinity stones teaming up with cabal of earth 616 richards was able to manipulate the ultimates into prematurely attacking the earth and do i got you interested in the character good i'll leave the rest of the story for you to read for yourself what makes the maker so terrifying is that he is so intelligent that there is really no way of defeating him and since he has the ability to literally stretch his brain to make himself even smarter he is always 10 steps ahead of you no matter what you do and what you think of course we don't even have the regular mr fantastic in the mcu yet so even if they have been considering integrating this character this character's introduction is definitely far off give a story to read for yourself starting with 2004's ultimate fantastic for number one or feel free to just skip ahead to when he is the maker by taking a look at 2011's ultimate comics ultimates number one number two the skinless man if you are ever wondering why they called wolverine weapon x well here's your answer it's not an x it's actually the roman numeral for 10. now with that in mind meet weapon number three the skinless man harry pyre used to be a barrister during the cold war and he was actually very good at his job thanks to his mutant power elastic and multi-sensory skin designated weapon 3 by the weapons plus program that augmented his strength and powers pizza went on to do some pretty terrible things and all of that finally caught up to him when phantom x shot him stole his skin and left them for dead now with no skin pizza took revenge on phantom x by cutting off his face and was later recruited into the new brotherhood of evil mutants while he was on the run from that once again though everything seems to catch up to him because in 2013's uncanny x-force number 34 he meets an untimely end and he's not really been seen since i could go into all the other horrific stuff this guy has done in the comic appearances but do i really need to it should be plainly obvious that there will never be an mcu version of the skinless man out there he has no skin and his whole thing is literally putting you in a similar predicament as him that just seems to me like you've got a formula for a character that will forever be stuck in the pages of a comic book i also understand that he is prominent in the x-men universe which is not necessarily the mcu but it's fine i'm definitely not far off when i say that there is no way they would use this character even if they had the rights to him check out a story for yourself in his first full appearance in 2012 uncanny x-force number 21 and finally number one we have arcade nobody really knows who or what arcade was before his life of crime he has given so many different accounts over the years with no evidence to prove any of them the one that seems the most true is that he killed his father when he was 21 in order to acquire a massive amount of money and he discovered that he really liked killing so he became an assassin however he soon got really bored with that and decided to use his wealth to construct a death-themed amusing park to kill people as a skilled killer okay arcade has been tasked with killing many heroes over the years such as spider-man ghost rider and many x-men as well but all of his attempts have ended in failure on his 29th birthday he learned that he was a huge laughing stock in the villain community and this made him realize that what he'd been doing is no longer a game and that winning from this point on is everything using his genius level intellect and his vast fortune he constructed a new murder land and trapped 16 teen heroes in it for a month toying with them and prodding them however they were eventually freed and arcade was last seen tied to the front of the shield helicarrier as a form of torture for everything that he had done what makes him terrifying to me is that he's all about mind games and toying with people which basically makes him the marvel equivalent of saw he knows exactly what to do and say to get people to gang up against each other and he has the knowledge and resources to execute any plan that is way too much power for one villain to have especially a movie villain so i feel like we won't get to see this character on the big screen anytime soon maybe one day though who straight to it and get counting down for some of these most fantastic magic wielding supers number 10 tarot tarot is mariana colbert a mutant we haven't heard from in a while but who has recently turned up at least via text if not visually in the dawn of x line during the ten of swords event she was the one to receive and communicate the powerful tarot reading that seem to be reappearing all over the world tarot's mutant powers are precognition which through the use of her tarot cards gives her amazingly accurate and specific readings pertaining to the future of an individual or an event she has also been able to get readings on past events as well it's a very specific mutant power that is pretty intimately tied to the mystic arts via the power of tarot but still anytime you can like read the future i think that's pretty powerful before we get on to the next one just want to remind you guys take a second to hit that like button it really helps us out here at top 10 nerd number nine pixie part of an immortal race known as the eternals pixie is a free-spirited superhero who was present and defended the earth during the skrull invasion pixie is actually one of the few survivors from the first line and set off the chain reaction that helped to destroy the skull armada after this she retired from adventuring on earth but occasionally still assisted her fellow eternals when the x-men went to the himalayas and encountered yeti she was the one who showed up and helped to take him down having worked with yeti in the past as part of the first line after the civil war tony stark considered her as a potential recruit for the initiative she has a set of superpowers common to all eternals including super strength flight psionic abilities and she can even project energy but not at the same level as some other eternals she is immortal and already hundreds of years old and has a natural psychic block in place to prevent mind reading and mind control number eight jennifer kale jennifer kale became a magical hero and ally to the man thing at a young age she was a teenager who was interested in magic and using a mystical tone she'd found while visiting her grandfather accidentally summoned a demon not knowing that the demon would not be under her control the man thing saved her and it was revealed later on that he and she had a psychic link to keem the enchanter eventually revealed himself to both jennifer and man thing and had them both prove they were worthy before taking on jennifer as his apprentice he had been a student of zeredna before him a powerful sorceress who believed that demons from the realm of psalminus would someday threaten the fate of the earth attempting to invade dakim gave jennifer the ramens of a priestess of zaridna and helped her to recover the tome of zara not from another dimension helping to protect the earth against a demon invasion jennifer is also an ally of howard the duck and over the years has become a highly skilled magic user number seven daytripper born with the name jermaine zardos she is the daughter of a powerful romani sorceress and grew up in the circus with her brother his name was stefan and he suffered bouts of homicidal madness occasionally the family adopted nightcrawler in his youth and he made a pact with his crazy brother that he would kill him if he ever became too violent this eventually does happen and it really blows up the whole family with the mother margali seeking revenge for nightcrawler for killing her son but anyway back to daytripper she was first introduced as amanda sefton a flight attendant who dates kurt wagner aka nightcrawler when kerr joined the excalibur team he asked her to also join as they often go up against magical opponents she once attempted to become doctor strange's disciple and also helped to retrieve captain britain from the time stream she has also aided the x-men in battle against the hellfire club she is a sorceress who follows the path of the winding wave and she is quite powerful capable of teleportation casting illusions and hypnotism as well as shape-shifting hellstorm hellstorm or hellstrom well actually if we are talking about the heroic persona of daemon then in most cases it's going to be hellstorm hellstrom is damon's legal last name as the son of the devil who came to earth for a time to basically sire children hellstorm fun fact used to be married to hellcat patsy walker i just like they both have hell in their main hero mantle it's pretty it's pretty great also that relationship ended terribly though terribly damon halstrum being the son of the devil is also the heir to hell although he spent a lot of time not wanting to accept this responsibility as he often wrestled with the evil within him damon actually was originally planning on becoming a priest before he learned of his true heritage via his mother's diary he has not only been an adventurer and a superhero fighting alongside the defenders but has also been an occult detective and an exorcist as well seeking to better understand his heritage while also actively fighting against it and his father's will number five sister grimm sister grimm was part of a team known as the runaways that had its run in 2003. the runaways were a group of teens who discovered their parents were part of a crime ring known as the pride that planned to destroy and rebuild the earth the runaways fight to stop them and one of them is sister grimm who inherited powers and technology from her parents at one point she re-encounters her parents after running away and her mother points her staff at her chest which becomes absorbed by her body this is actually her main weapon the staff of one and it is only released from her body when she bleeds she has magical aptitude in her blood but not the usual formal training however after her encounter with the witch breaker her power improves and she can now levitate teleport using portals and even fly she can also cast spells that change her surroundings like transforming the inside of a building she is part of strange academy the professor of creative spell casting this is a perfect role for her as part of the way her staff works is she can never use the same spell twice if she casts a spell she's already used a second time not only will it not work but it may even have an unintended effect number four dr voodoo brother voodoo aka jericho drum was considered skilled and disciplined enough to actually become the new sorcerer's supreme becoming dr voodoo big exciting level up for jericho initially jericho never wanted the responsibility of becoming a hungan but after the death of his brother daniel swore to him that he would train in the mystical arts and take his place seeking to avenge his brother's death voodoo carries his brother's spirit with him which helps to bolster his power he was chosen later on to become sorcerer's supreme by agamotto the eye of agamotto left steven strange and instead sought out his replacement choosing brother voodoo because he was considered pure of heart and at the time a much better candidate doctor strange was basically doing some super dark things at the time although he did have his reasons jericho is a skilled magic user capable of manipulating the elements and mystical creatures he's also capable of hypnosis flight and teleportation and he's also a trained psychologist bonus number three man thing manting is a tragic dude he was a biochemistry professor named ted salas ted salis working on project sulfur which aims to allow soldiers to survive biochemical weapons it was developed into serum so2 and it worked but had the unfortunate side effect of turning its users into monsters he once worked alongside dr kurt connors and tried to improve his serum into a super soldier serum like the one used on captain america his wife becomes bitter after being neglected for so long while he's focused on his work and she eventually sells him out to greedy aim agents seeking to steal his technology as he's escaping from their ambush he injects himself with the only existing sample of the serum right before his car crashes into the swamp the magical energies of the swamp and the serum combine to transform him into a hideous seven foot swamp monster man thing gets into some crazy mystical stuff helping doctor strange with fixing the shattered nexus of all realities he is basically vegetable matter formed with mystical energy and swamp mutations all wrapped up in a lovely package as the guardian of the nexus of all realities he has some serious mystical responsibilities he is also very powerful with his abilities including regeneration teleportation and even reality displacement also his porous form is resistant to many forms of attacks as fists or bullets just pass right through him number two scarlet witch scarlet witch is one of the most powerful magic users we have in marvel although the results of her magic can sometimes be unpredictable like during the empire event when she accidentally created a ton of mutant zombies in her attempt to properly resurrect all the lives lost in the genocia mutant massacre still scarlet witch is powerful enough that she has been considered as a candidate for sorcerer's supreme she can use her powers to manipulate time reality and probability as well as project energy create force fields cast spells heal create magical weapons enhance her own physical prowess and teleport wow that's a lot of stuff that's like stuff i'm just saying and you could speed me up saying it and then like make it scroll because it's so much stuff the problem is simply that things don't always turn out the way wanda had envisioned and her mental state often affects her actions making her appear sometimes even villainous when that is generally the furthest thing that wanda wants to alienate herself she is often just a character seeking love and acceptance who struggles to find where she belongs and sometimes to find her own sense of independence and confidence and here we are at number one dr strange dr strange was a brilliant but arrogant neurosurgeon who mangled his hands in a car accident and became seriously distraught when modern medicine failed him he went on a journey leading him to tibet where he trained with the ancient one healing his hands learning about magic and eventually rising to the rank of master of the mystic arts he is the sorcerer supreme for the marvel prime universe and strange has a really storied past having been affiliated with many superhero teams and taking part in some incredible storylines throughout his history i really love how dr strange goes from arrogant doctor who only cares about money to a broken man who literally sells all his possessions to travel to the east later discovering not only his magic real but that he can control it as the sorcerer supreme doctor strange is immensely powerful and he also has a whole collection of powerful artifacts at his disposal he is an expert in the black priest's ability to use language to distort reality using the power of the words to create energy blasts organic disintegration and even paralysis he can channel the extra dimensional energy of mystical beings to empower his spells and it's been said that doctor strange is as powerful as the god he invokes now let's look at some comments from top 10 weirdest hulk comics you need to read which was our last collab video yeah edward john says most bizarre hulk moment hulk tears off his own head to stop pain in incredible hulk 446 and then grows it back regeneration always opens up a lot of thorny questions yeah man i uh like i always wonder about these regenerators like deadpool if he just can he just split in half and grow two deadpools and just create an army of himself i mean i uh yeah how come it's like only some of him like can regenerate the tissue and then some of him can't maybe the other versions would get progressively dumber yeah they're just like really really messed up versions of deadpool i like that idea also i feel like the hulk has regenerated himself in a lot of crazy ways himself in a lot of crazy ways um but that's the whole like even the monster thing with hulk lauren oh types i can't believe there was a story that had batman being able to take down hulk with kicks and punches i love bats but really yeah i know really i was also like what is happening here i also love batman but i was like really that made me the hulk i mean he's strong but come on i think it was just like like the fact that it was a physical fight too like i know batman was also like using his smarts in that scenario but i was just like this real world but some take this survival thing a bit too seriously and are actually immortal and some of them are scary look it's a bit of a mouthful of a title so i'm just gonna give up on trying to find a natural introduction for the purposes of this video immortal will refer to characters that won't die on their own unless someone kills them and as for the scary part i'll pick heroes who scare 10 scary immortal superheroes number 10 frank yep frank okay fine you may know him better as frankenstein's monster you know the beginning of frank's story created by victor frankenstein or frankenstein if you prefer the monster eventually found himself frozen in ice being thawed a century later after falling in with some rough crowds he would eventually go on to join various monster hunting teams including the fearsome 4 and later the all-new howling commandos after being recruited by agent coulson since he's kind of already dead he can't really die and since his cells aren't alive he's even immune to disease and i mean considering he's the star of one of the greatest horror franchises in the world i'd say he's pretty scary number 9 nightcrawler nightcrawler definitely isn't what most people think of when they think scary superhero but he was on my mind since i just did an alternate versions list for him a link down below maybe that said he's definitely one of the freakiest looking heroes out there largely because of his demonic heritage now look i'm no bigot but the dude definitely looks like a demon which is fine in comic books but if i ran into him in a dark alley i would not be pleased especially if he suddenly teleported behind me he also takes the immortal box since he already died and had to sacrifice his soul to come back to life which sounds kind of selfish but it was actually for the greater good long story number eight dead man boston brand was a circus acrobat but after being murdered he made a deal with rama kushna a hindu goddess to give him powers to find his murderer but he's a decent guy so if he sees someone being bad while he's finding the murderer he stops them by possessing people this led to him working with various super teams including justice society international and i gotta say this was a pretty easy choice since dead man is a spooky spooky ghost which instantly gives him both immortality cred and scary crit making my job easy another nice thing is that he looks a lot more villainous than most heroes which also means he looks pretty darn scary sometimes other times he's a bit goofy but we won't talk about those times he's scary he's immortal he's on the list next number seven the immortal hulk yeah hulk in general is pretty scary and pretty immortal but a mortal hulk is even scarier and even immortal er not only does he have a healing factor keeping him young and strapping but the whole point of the character is that this hulk keeps bringing banner back to life whenever he dies so like yeah that's pretty darn immortal immortal hulk unlike other modern versions only comes out in the evening if bruce banner is injured or dead and apparently immortal hulk is the most powerful one yet so not only does he look terrifying but he's also even stronger than previous incarnations plus as i said he only comes out at night and we all know night time is super spooky number six ghost rider i think we all knew ghost rider would be on here i doubt i need to really explain why he's scary but in case you're totally lost he's a biker with a flaming skull and demon chains who can consume souls and cause you to feel every bit of pain you've ever inflicted on someone so yeah probably not great to run into in a dark alley especially if you're a jerk in terms of immortality it's stated in ghost riders heavens on fire number six that only god can destroy a ghost rider since he created them true the concept of god in the marvel universe is a bit shaky so this might not be meant to be taken literally but i think it's fairly safe to call them immortal number 5 venom when it comes to scary comic book characters venom is definitely one of the first a lot of people think of i know he gave me nightmares as a kid although i also had a talking toy of him which was my favorite represent venom is freaky not only for his terrifying appearance but also because the idea of having an alien symbiote latch onto me and control me sounds awful however the most terrifying thing about venom is talking about him slash it slash them am i talking about the symbiote the combination of them which version of the combination who's with the symbiote which of the dozen retcons are we referring to and how many people will yell at me in the comments if i get it wrong seriously it's a nightmare in terms of immortality we haven't really seen a symbiote latch onto a host for long enough to know if they're immortal that way but the symbiotes themselves are believed to be so i think that counts see confusing number four swamp thing swamp thing is definitely among the lesser known superheroes on this list some people may not even be aware that he's a good guy since characters based on horror tropes tend to be pretty evil but hey as we learned with frank you mustn't judge a book by its cover even if it is a pretty scary cover swamp thing came into being when scientist alec holland had an incident with his biorestorative formula causing his consciousness to enter a nearby swamp this consciousness was then able to enter any plant life and use it as a body of sorts despite its horrid appearance swamp thing would go on to find love and fight to protect humanity and nature and yes the swamp thing is immortal as long as there is plant life somewhere in the universe there's somewhere for swamp thing's consciousness to live it's like he has like eight gazillion horcruxes except he doesn't have to split his soul not do shabby number three lobo lobo is a big strong loud arrogant violent blowhard from the planet zarnia he's also full disclosure one of my favorite characters so i'm a wee bit biased here that said he definitely fits a criteria immortal check he's such a wacko that he was straight up banished from the afterlife scary jack freaky looks aside his name translates to he who devours your entrails and thoroughly enjoys it and the main man lives up to that name having exterminated almost everyone on his home planet including children with flying scorpions yeah lobo was created as a parody of all the 90s comic books that were hell-bent on being super gritty and dark and intense and he is definitely all of those things with a tongue planted firmly in one's cheek number two spawn the thing with this list is that most superheroes look well heroic which generally means they don't look very scary not so with spawn al simmons was a cop who was murdered and sent to hell only to make a deal with malabolsia to become a hellspawn in exchange for seeing his wife one last time and he's pretty darn cool sure the 97 version looked a bit more like a wwe character than demon spawn but if you want any proof that he's a scary dude check out the trailer for the 2020 reboot because my goodness he terrifying in terms of immortality spawn won't die of old age and generally won't die of anything unless beheaded by a weapon of heaven or if you manage to kill him in the dead zone an alley on earth that counts as heaven's domain so like you should probably avoid that alley or he'll get murdered by homeless men again true story number one deadpool that's right nerds i don't care that i've talked about him a million times on this channel if you give me an opportunity to slap deadpool onto a list i'm slapping em onto the list for the three people who somehow don't know by now wade wilson is a wisecracking mercenary who through an experimental treatment gained absurd regenerative abilities to the point where he basically can't die and why is he scary well because his skin looks like this yeah those are tumors you're welcome plus he isn't exactly the most stable person so you kinda gotta watch your back even if he is your friend as you may have guessed he's my favorite hero of all time and i am absurdly excited for him to join the mcu just please for the love of god bring back hugh jackman for one more movie it needs to happen please that's it for with some of the most horrific villains around villains that are so terrifying many of them have yet to even make their way to the silver screen welcome back nerd squad today we are going to be talking about some of the scariest villains around as we count down the top 10 super villains too scary for the dc eu and if you haven't already smash that subscribe and ring our bell so you can bat the man bat is not always a villain of batman's he has been known to sometimes be an ally as well but when dr kirk langstrom is in his man-bat form he is always horrifying so horrifying that the closest thing we got to him was in one of batman's nightmares from batman v superman in the dc eu however this wasn't really specified to be man bad specifically dr langstrom aimed to create a serum to help the deaf and blind but accidentally made a serum that also transformed anyone who used it into a giant bat-like creature both he and his wife suffer from its effects at one point becoming the man bat and she bad respectively it would be cool to see a horror style batman film featuring these two monstrous and sometimes villainous characters number nine solomon grundy while he's appeared in lots of animated films solomon grundy has yet to make his debut in the live-action world of the dc eu this could be because of his monstrous appearance solomon grundy is a zombie-like villain who sometimes ends up as a hero depending on the circumstances he has a frankenstein type vibe to him as well which likely makes him too monster-like for the likes of the dc eu although there are so many horror inspired characters and villains in dc comics that would be cool to see if that genre made its way more into the films for dc i would watch those movies number eight hugo strange hugo strange has a place in the television series gotham where he is played by bd wong and is depicted as the chief of psychiatry at arkham asylum but we have yet to see the insane mad scientist make an appearance in the dc extended universe because he is often closely tied these days to arkham asylum both in the comics and in the batman video games it would be kind of hard to introduce this madman who has a tendency to experiment on patience and transform them into monsters into the dc eu without first introducing the famed asylum hugo is a formidable and frightening batman foe not just because of how insane he is but because of how brilliant he is too it's a perfect plan with this machine i can imagine batman to be anyone i choose and these fools will pay a fortune for you he was even able to use his smarts and deductive reasoning to uncover batman's true identity number seven mr mixi pizzilik so mr mixie might not be horrifying to look at he's kind of silly looking truth be told but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be scared of him he has more power than you can possibly imagine and in fact anything that he can imagine can come to pass should he will it the only limits his reality altering powers are the limitations of his own imagination like batman's joker he has at times claimed to be the ultimate superman foe in one story to prove this he even killed all of superman's enemies and allies just to prove how evil he was mr mixy also forced superman to kill him as well forcing superman to break his own moral code talk about being on joker's terrifying level of ultimate villainy oh i don't feel so good but it's still worth it number six james gordon jr he might not be on mr mixie's level in terms of his power set but james gordon jr is one terrifying and creepy villain as his name implies he is related to commissioner gordon and is in fact his son surprisingly james is not like his dad and grows up instead to become a psychotic serial killer exhibiting early warning signs from a young age that there is something very wrong with him he used to pick apart and torture animals and was suspected as being involved in the disappearance of one of barbara's friends best keller though nothing was ever proven he ends up returning to gotham and is revealed to be a full-out serial killer who enjoys torturing his victims to death in black mirror later on he ends up joining the suicide squad and becomes the team's strategy analyzer man i would not want to work with james gordon jr on the suicide squad be like no thanks number five papa midnight papa midnight is a villain to john constantine for the most part sometimes he's an ally but more often he's not as the man is obsessed with power and is a pretty bad dude papa midnight grew up in trench town jamaica born linton midnight from a young age he became inspired by tales of dark magic that his parents had told him he betrayed a group of slaves conning them into believing that they would be protected if they rebelled which led to their deaths and later went on to sell his sister's soul into demon slavery said he could achieve more power for himself through using her soul as a barter chip selling it to the demons of hell considering how violent and insidious papa midnight is we likely won't be seeing him in the dc eu although he has managed to make an appearance in the cw aeroverse which is pretty impressive number four crib how does one even make a villain-like crib in the dc eu just from a visual standpoint like let's be a lot of effects i think crib is a member of the sinestro corps she is described as being an alien hag and is 100 something out of a nightmare lots of baba yaga vibes here as well however instead of being associated with eating children as baba yaga sometimes is crip's purpose is to kidnap the newly born children of green lanterns who are also parents crib will even go to the lengths of giving her pregnant victims four cesareans in order to secure their children she keeps the kidnapped newborns in her hunchback which looks like a creepy bone crib and promptly kills the parents of any children whom she has taken away what's more disturbing is it's never explained why crib has this compulsion it's just something she feels inspired to do i guess she doesn't think green lanterns make for great parents she's like i'll be a way better parent to these babies with my weird bone crib super qualified number three doll maker doll maker has a horrific origin which makes it hard to introduce him without going full horror film mode when barton mathis was young he would go camping with his father who it turns out was a serial killer while camping barton would not only witness his father kill people but also commit acts of cannibalism he also saw his father killed when apprehended by the police years later mathis would grow up to be a gifted but deranged surgeon who was obsessed with using his victim's body parts to craft dolls he wears a mask made of human skin and was the one who helped joker to remove his face during the lead-up to the death of the family storyline number two a black lantern corps one of the most terrifying villain groups of both appearance wise and in terms of their threat level is the black lantern core of course this would be a hard super villain group to introduce being that we'd likely need green lanterns to be on the scene to help explain well just to the black lantern corps are and why we should care about them after all you can't defeat the black flaming corps anyways without the entire emotional spectrum of lanterns assembled to help create that white lantern power this threat might also just be too huge and horrific to make an appearance due to the sheer size of their numbers in the blackest knights storyline they were like an overwhelmingly sized zombie apocalypse level of threat killing heroes and resurrecting them to join their deadly ranks number one batman who laughs it might be a little too confusing for the dc eu to introduce the batman who laughs that would mean they'd likely have to involve the dark multiverse somewhere in their films and the dark multiverse is likely too dark even for dc to make that happen on the big screen the batman who laughs is an alternate version of batman who was infected by joker venom after being pushed too far by the villain causing him to lash out and kill the joker snapping his neck this caused batman to become infected driving him insane and causing him to take down his own world's justice league and kill his own bat family save for damian wayne who he convinced to join him he's one of the biggest bads in dc's current storylines thank you so much for watching nerd squad what are some of your known as the protector of fawcett city before obtaining his powers william billy batson was a young boy chosen to be a champion of good by the wizard shazam meaning whenever he uses the wizard's name he is struck by a lightning bolt that transforms him into the hero we all know and love with the abilities of the six legendary figures but even though he's basically a god shazam does have a number of villains that are quite powerful and terrifying if i do say so myself what's going on all you nerdy folk out there my name is jack and today we're gonna be taking a look at some of the scariest villains that shazam has to deal with now i apologize in advance for probably butchering some names here but let's just get into it shall we number 10 monster society of evil the very first super villain team to appear in the comics all the way back in 1943's captain marvel avengers number 22 many of these villains mentioned will be talked about later in a lot more detail but i thought this team was worth mentioning as a whole first when mr mayan first came to earth 2 he organized his first team of evil doers including um mr who niola ramulus and the dummy however this was just one iteration of the team as it was later revised in the earth s universe to include beings from other worlds such as goatman who had been his first minion evil eye a hypnotic monster and the crocodile men of the planet punkas the most villainous combination of this team though was when mr mine enlisted the help of mr adam king cull ogar and black adam to plan an all-out attack on the rock of eternity alongside the inhabitants of 247 worlds who were being forced to work for them [Music] number nine ibac originally a small town crook stanley's stinky print whistle made a deal with lucifer after he was caught in a bridge explosion in exchange for his soul he was granted the power to become a champion of evil through the magical word ibac turning him from a frail criminal into a muscled supervillain contrary to shazam ibac is empowered by four of the most evil and terrifying men who have ever walked the earth ivan the terrible who supplies terror cesare bourgeois who gives ibec cunning attila the hun who gives him fierceness and caligula the sponsor of cruelty with this powers ibac was faced off against shazam many times most commonly as a member of the monster society of evil although he has reformed many times over the course of his comics ibak is still a staple character in the shazam universe and will forever be annoying thorne in his side number eight captain nazi now uh that is a pretty controversial name you can definitely tell that he was created in a different time eh originally thought to be genetically altered by his father during the second world war to serve hitler's third reich he was actually revealed to be the living avatar of national socialism given a physical form and that as long as there are nazis in existence he would exist in the modern era captain nazi had been active since the 1940s but decided to put himself in a suspended animation so that he could come back in modern society and revive the third reich once reanimated fought alongside his brother wolf krieger his granddaughter and other super powered villains after meeting his apparent end while fighting batman and jason todd we later find out that he actually survived and appears in conduct to release all of his captives and winds up being defeated by conduct ruler black adam with the powers of superhuman strength speed and stamina as well as flight and invulnerability captain nazi is both dangerous and a little controversial check him out in his first appearance in masters comics number twenty one [Music] number seven king kong the british caveman who ruled the race once known as the sub men a race that lorded over humanity until they were overthrown in a revolt back in prehistoric time being the last of his kind king call survives in suspended animation awakening in modern times to attempt to become its ruler once again he fights with suzanne multiple times throughout the comics and is always seen as a massive threat due to his immense size strength and the strange technology that he brings with him into the modern era such as his sin bombs sometimes he's enough of a threat that even the justice league of america must intervene to help him bring to help bring him down usually a member of the monster society of evil cull has appeared many times throughout the years although ever since the crisis on infantry's reboot in 1985 he hasn't appeared in a mainline comic story since to tide yourself over until this big returns into the shazam universe why not check him out for yourself in his first appearance captain marvel adventures number 125 from 1951. [Music] number six seven deadly sins referred to as the seven deadly enemies of man in the golden age of comics the seven deadly sins are villainous representations of the sins outlining christianity with slight name changes to fit the younger audience being pride envy greed hatred laziness selfishness and injustice however most modern appearances of these villains use their actual original names trapped in cartoon-like statues by the wizard shazam the seven deadly sins have escaped their stone prisons many times thanks to the help of the other villains however they always seem to end up back at statues when spectra destroyed the rock of eternity and killed shazam the sins were released and wreaked havoc on the world until the rock was rebuilt and they were captured and imprisoned once more however not all was back to normal as shazam was still able to hear them in his thoughts and they tortured him in his head pride being the most powerful and dangerous of all the enemies represents the desire of one to be more important and attractive than others envy represents one's jealousy over others and the desire to to deprive a man from something he loves greed represents insatiable ambition and the desire to possess more than one needs anger represents uncontrollable feelings of hatred and violence sloth represents laziness and apathy gluttony represents over-indulgence and over-consumption of anything to the point of waste and of course lust represents excessive desires or thoughts of sexual nature [Music] number five lady blaze having worked behind the scenes for a very long time this red skin demonis is not one that you should take lightly disguising yourself as angelica blaze the metropolis nightclub owner blaise later appeared in faucet city where she took a new mortal guys as a mob boss her plans for the city and the rock of eternity connected to it were however quickly foiled by shazam and the marvel family interestingly enough she's actually the one who corrupted black adam and let him down the path that you see him on now with her arsenal of demonic abilities we've seen lady blades go toe to toe many times with the members of the captain marvel family and other dc heroes such as batman check out this truly twisted demon is for yourself in her first appearance in 1990's action comics number 655 number 4 savak known as timothy karns he was granted powers by the demonic forces of hell in order to challenge shazam and become his dark opposite drawing his powers from satan aim belial beelzebub asmodius and kratos karns just needs to say the magic word sabach and he transforms into a hulking demon with super speed strength fire breath and pyrokinesis so black battles suzanne multiple times throughout his career always on even footing with his rival right up to the point where you know he's eventually defeated each time the demon who granted him powers they eventually get really fed up with his failures and strip him with all his powers one by one letting karns be defeated for good a new more feral version of sabok has appeared in the modern age with the alter ego of ishmael gregor check him out in his first appearance in 1943's captain marvel junior number four or if you're interested in his new adoption check out 2004's outsiders volume 3 number 8. number 3 mr mai now mention briefly at the beginning of this list mr mind is a tiny alien worm from the planet venus with an extremely high intelligence and is one of shazam's arch enemies he's notably the first villain to bring together other villains who had been defeated previously uniting them into the monster society of evil mr mine's strength lies in his intelligence able to use the assembled super villains to run shazam ragged and nearly defeat him on multiple occasions mr mine can use mind control to force others into working for him along with you know some other generally ominous assertions of psychic powers his most significant role was as the primary villain of 52 in which he was revealed to be behind all the events of the series in a dastardly bid to literally eat time itself having first appeared in captain marvel adventures number 26 all the way back in 1943 this worm has caused some serious damage in the dc universe number two dr savannah considered to be shazam's golden age nemesis and a primary arch foe to this day daddy's bow dog savannah senior was one of the richest man in fawcett city and used his intellect and resources to try and defeat shazam he deduced shazam's identity early on in his career giving him a very unique relationship to the hero as he could strike him at any time savannah was a genius mad scientist who operated from the planet venus with his own family of children and in exile he turned against the world and plots for world domination of course he is frequently stopped by shazam confounding him you know to no end in the modern era savannah was reinvented as a scientist who became corrupted by dark magic turning him to a madman with the body of a withered old man as the leader of the mod society of evil savannah has been part of many of shazam's greatest battles so why not read a story for yourself starting with his first appearance in wiz comics number two and number one black adam an obvious choice for the number one spot on this list because there's nowhere else this dastardly villain deserves to be the first man to be given the powers of shazam black adam went mad with power and was stripped of his abilities lying dormant until the modern day during which his ancestor was granted his powers black adam possesses powers drawn from the egyptian gods as opposed to you know shazam's powers black adam eventually somewhat reforms dismissing his prior evil as corruption and takes over a city state in egypt and then marries a woman named isis but his new family is eventually killed and black adam swears vengeance on the world which leads to a battle with shazam once again in a war that spans the globe before being stripped of all his powers again after shazam forcibly changes the magic word that grants him his abilities portrayed by dwayne the rock johnson in the live-action movies i cannot wait to see what the dc universe does with this character in the future that'll be it for this video everyone do you have any said let's get started number 10 dormammu dormammu i've come to bargain i'm sorry i just had to say it whenever i hear the name dormammu i just think of that awesome scene okay so dormammu comes from the marvel universe and is the ruler of the dark dimension he's incredibly powerful and also immortal he's said to be more powerful than doctor strange mephisto hella pluto and damien hellstrom he can transform his body into mystical energy and can always reform back to normal at this point it seems like nothing can actually kill him or if it does by chance he would just return even in the 2016 film doctor strange which i mentioned earlier the only way doctor strange could actually defeat him was to trap him in a time loop and make a bargain with him to leave and never return which he probably won't end up honoring forever number nine lolo lobo hails from the dc universe and is a bounty hunter who is immortal and unkillable he's the last of the zarnians who are said can only be killed by each other but apparently lobo is slightly different because this also doesn't apply to him lobo is also banned from entering either heaven or hell so when his physical body is in a damaged state he can travel around outside of his body but can't interact with anyone actually living until his body has fully regenerated he has even survived floating around in the far reaches of space aside from that he has super strength and can survive without food or water but apparently he needs to drink booze a lot so yeah there's that number eight try god trigon is a very powerful demon and the father of the superhero raven who is a member of the teen titans he's considered to be one of the most powerful villains in the dc universe along with darkseid and the anti-monitor trigon has been alive for billions of years and is hell-bent on taking over any and all worlds he is very tall you travel through different dimensions he is immortal he can fly is vulnerable he also has super strength pyrokinesis telekinesis telepathy and other mind control abilities the teen titans have faced off against him multiple times usually they can stop him but he always returns stronger than ever and always wants to try to corrupt his daughter raven and bring her over to the dark side number seven parallax parallax comes from the dc universe and is one of the main villains of the green lanterns he is essentially pure fear he is so powerful that even the all-knowing guardians of the universe are said to be super scared of him paralyx also has a wide array of abilities but usually he infects a host and is able to just control them completely one of the most famous instances being when he took over none other than hal jordan and made him kill a ton of green lanterns and other dz heroes hal eventually got defeated but parallax lived on and years later hal also returned because this is the comic book world and no one is ever really gone number six deathstroke slade wilson the villainous deathstroke also known as deathstroke the terminator he's one of the most feared assassins in the entire dc universe slade is a super soldier and possesses an amazing healing factor that has saved his life countless times he has been shot multiple times even stabbed through like certain vital organs that you know would have otherwise killed any other human being slade is usually the main villain for the teen titans but has also had run-ins with a few other heroes including green arrow in the comics and in live action he was the main antagonist during arrow's second season which is widely regarded as the best because of the dynamic between oliver and slade he also recently appeared in the second season of the dc universe show titans number five the phoenix force the phoenix force is most famous for taking over jean grey and starting the dark phoenix saga but while the host can die the phoenix force is essentially immortal it can travel across the universe it can use abilities to resurrect itself or someone or something else it has telepathic abilities as well being able to control anyone in effects it can just shoot massive amounts of energy that kills almost anything in its path whenever it enters a host it amplifies their own abilities as well and when it eventually leaves if the host is alive it leaves a small portion of its power within that host leaving them stronger than they ever were before number four vandal savage vandal savage is immortal he has been around for thousands of years he also has enhanced strength speed and is a master martial artist he doesn't age and is shown to be resistant to various diseases even in his live-action appearance in the aeroverse he was immortal but this version was linked to hawkman and hawkgirl but he was vaporized to ash during one of the crossovers but that didn't stop him as he was able to fully regenerate and come back and continue to wreak havoc on his heroes which is why they were trying to defeat him with time travel one of the coolest aspects of the first season of legends was to see them go to different points in time and try to stop vandal but when they would fail the next time they would see him he was slowly starting to recognize them and figure out what they were doing so for example they would see him once and then they would see him a couple days later but for him it could be hundreds of years until he saw them next that's time gravel for you it's messed up but really cool number three ross alcool razzle or rachel bull no matter which way you choose to pronounce it he is a very big deal he's the head of the league of assassins or known as the league of shadows in the movies and is you guessed it immortal but not all in his own he has help from the lazarus pits which can basically heal any injury and keep him looking young for hundreds and hundreds of years he's one of if not the most skilled fighter in the world he has even beaten batman from time to time in handmade combat like i mean if that doesn't instantly show you how dangerous and cool he is i don't know what will because we all know how cool batman is number two joker ah the joker i recently made another video recently talking about just different joker theories one of those being how people believe that the joker is actually immortal because no matter what happens to him he doesn't seem to age or die he's always there just terrorizing gotham and being a real pain in batman's side but honestly we wouldn't really want it any other way joker and batman just go together like peanut butter and jelly and that is something that will never change number one thanos a villain that needs no introduction because right now he is probably the most famous villain around thanks to avengers infinity war and avengers endgame but long before that he was just a famous villain to anyone who read the comics yes i know thanos has died but he has also returned multiple times he is just insanely powerful and has taken on all of the big heavyweights of the marvel universe and almost everyone is scared of him whenever his name is brought up you know a lot of bad stuff is about to go dc comics is known for some of the most heroic and famous superheroes of all time but have you ever sat down and considered how terrifying some of the villains they face are from wacky villains like kite man to the bone chilling batman who laughs dc is the definition of range what's going on all you nerdy folk out there my name is jack and join me while we take a look at some of the scariest villains dc has to offer coming in at number 10 we are starting with zoom this starting off with an obvious choice earbud thon also known as the reverse flash or zoom is the arch nemesis of barry allen and has done a great job at keeping the scarlet speedster on his toes having worshipped the flash more than anybody even going as far as to recreate the reaction that gave barry's powers and having an operation done so that he could look like barry allen thon wanted nothing more than to meet and befriend his hero his killing tendency unfortunately came up not too long after that when he killed the cashier at the flash museum so he could use the holy grail of all flash memorabilia the cosmic treadmill so he could travel back in time to meet his hero unfortunately there was a miscalculation and he ended up appearing several years after allen's death distraught and upset thon escaped to the flash museum to get some answers only to find out that he was destined to become the flash's greatest nemesis zoom needless to say he did not take that news very well and this set him down on his dark path since then thawne has done everything in his power to torment the flash going as far as killing his mother and fiance and so much more talk about a quick temper number nine is dr destiny john d was a pretty run-of-the-mill villain for the justice league by creating tech that was more advanced than most people had ever seen and thanks to the sec he was able to capture green lantern and set traps left and right for the justice league however all this changed after he created the materiopticon which allowed him to manipulate and alter reality he was eventually stopped by the justice league by making him unable to dream which in turn robbed him of his powers and drove him even deeper into insanity dee also appeared with a much darker reboot neil gaiman sandman where he is seen using his materia opticon to take over a 24-hour diner to fulfill his sadistic desires and purposes number eight trigon now i understand that teenage yanks is a thing and not having a good relationship with your daughter isn't exactly a crime but trigon kind of takes that a little bit too far and ends up being the arch enemy of raven from teen titans originally the ruler of an unknown alien planet trigon was able to absorb the power of the heart of darkness which granted him an insane amount of power allowing him to kill the divine once and for all not only are his powers something to marvel but just look at him his terrifying demonic appearance already makes him someone that i do not want to mess with however i feel i could definitely take that sweater vest wearing trigon from teen titans go number 7 murmur being a fairly new member of the flash's rogues murray doesn't really have many appearances in the comics but by no means does that make him any less terrifying dr michael lamarr was once a very successful and respected surgeon until one day he could no longer take the voices in his head caused by schizophrenia and decided that a killing spree was the only way to keep him at bay this spree spread through central city and kingston city until he was finally detained by the police with the help of the flash with an incredible understanding of human physiology thanks to as many years as a surgeon and his unique blood type unlike anyone has ever seen you know he can't be killed by any lethal injections this villain is not someone you should mess with not to mention he also cut out his own tongue and sewed his mouth shut number six necron lord of the unliving and one of the most powerful beings in the universe necron is a manifestation of death and the opposing force of all life itself before becoming the lord of hun living we're not entirely sure what or where necron was rumors have circulated that necron is darkness itself existing before life entirely and then others say he was created by the darkness as his protector first appearing in tales of the green lantern corpse number two in 1981 necron's most terrifying moment was his triumphant return in blackest night when he formed the black lantern's corpse who i'll be touching on a little bit later thanks to the power of those black power rings and the black lantern central power battery necron was able to begin complete and utter devastation to the world during this time the only thing that was able to take him down was hal jordan and the white lanterns who together overpowered necron by resurrecting the black hand which in turn severs his link with a living plane with this link gone his body is completely destroyed and the blackest night is over number five dr death now if that name doesn't already scare you then hold on your hats because this villain is truly something originally a scientist working for wayne enterprises dr carl helpful was working on a nano medicine to try and create a serum to make human bones hardened upon impact to prevent breakage unfortunately this project failed and was a large reason that led to helford's slow descent into insanity the other reasons being his son's death and the loss of his job at wayne enterprises thanks to a later partnership with edward digimon a breakthrough was discovered and that got the entire process working again and set him on his path down to uh you know his villa side with the success of his formula helford injected it into himself granting him superhuman strength and a regeneration ability eventually taking the name doctor death helper kills his research group by injecting them with the failed formula which causes their bone to grow uncontrollably and then rip them apart from the inside out dr death was eventually and thankfully stopped by batman who incapacitated the villain by breaking his bones in such a way that it would grow back irregularly the sheer pressure and uncomfortability of his new physique led to alfred's death as his struggle against his own skeleton causes skull to cave in and crush his brains number four crib now despite sounding like a lovely place to keep your baby this member of the sinestro corp is far from that she targets green lantern members who have recently had children then she'll secrete a poisoned liquid from her breasts to subdue their parents and then have them watch with her dying breasts as she takes their children and tosses them into her crib like hunchback as the parents die she leaves them claiming she'll raise them as her own as orphans of the green lantern corpse now not only is that terrifying but it's also never really explained why which and you know the mystery in that just makes it all the more unsettled thankfully crib is subdued by kyle ranner and is sent to xamarin to have the zamarans rehabilitator however it's confirmed later that the rehabilitation technique does not really work on her at all you know i guess some aliens just can't be helped number three blackhand william hand aka blackhand was chosen to be the physical embodiment of death by guardian scar and after killing himself and becoming reanimated he becomes the leader of the black lantern corpse during the blackest night i told you we'd circle back during the blackest night hand murders each member of his family before killing himself and receiving the black lantern ring with this ring blackhand was able to reanimate some of dc's most famous and powerful heroes such as batman and superman and so many more alongside necron black hand battles against the heroes of earth and the lantern corpse as stated before hand is defeated by hal jordan and the white lanterns after is revealed that nekron he is necrons linked to the living plane after he's brought back to life and necrons defeated he is then taken by the indigo tribe uh very dazed and confused and they're set on helping him alter his worldviews and it seems like it worked number two jonathan crane aka the scarecrow now this brilliant psychologist turned super villain is one of the most terrifying and layered villains in the dc universe crane lost his credibility as a psychologist after an experiment gone wrong when he took everything a little bit too far and then that began his descent into madness taking up the name scarecrow he uses his immense knowledge of fear and anxiety to mess with his victims and seals the deal with his infamous fear toxin to torture them when inhaled this toxin forces the victim to hallucinate and imagine their own worse feel as if it was reality just the thought of that completely terrifies me and that's why i place them so high on this list like i can't even think about it and finally number one the joker you probably guessed it but obviously the most terrifying dc villain in my opinion is the joke the insane clown prince of crime has been around since the beginning of batman and is still his arch nemesis he commits crime for no reason other than his desire to show people how meaningless life is through pain death and his signature methods of torture constantly flipping between a harmless trickster and a mass murderer the joker's mindset is impossible to pinpoint which makes him all the more terrifying he seemingly has no morals willing to go as far as killing robin crippling batgirl and doing whatever it takes to get the job done even if it means losing someone on his side although there's a lot of mystery around his origins it is known that he is the way he is because of a chemical accident that ruined his body and mind now despite the joker being just a prominent villain in the batman universe there's so little known about him and when new information pops up about him it just makes him all the more twisted and terrifying look i'm all for practical
