are you ready for more Universal Orlando content that's a rhetorical question I know you are because I see your comments now let's talk about rides do Universal's top 10 rides beat Disney's top 10 rides it's time for you to be the judge of that we're hitting in with the best rides across Universal Orlando today here on dfb guide hey everybody it's aj4 Disney food blog get ready for a video all about about my love and devotion for the high in the sky Seuss trolley train rided Islands of Adventure no not really that's just Bria messing with me and you we are talking about the best rides across both of the Universal Orlando Parks today though and you're going to want to prioritize these during your next Universal vacation which is the real reason you clicked on today's video right right okay well this top 10 list reflects our personal favorite Universal rides in no particular order we're not ranking them we're just saying they're the top 10 it's important to still study up on all the rides between the two parks CU you might find something else that's worthy of your personal top 10 list like maybe you desperately want to ride the high in the sky Seuss trolley train ride at Islands of Adventure I don't know that could be your jam and that's why we've created the Universal Orlando quick guide now this gives you a general overview of every Universal ride as well as dining recommendations entertainment suggestions itinerary breakdowns and a bunch more so go ahead and scan the QR code you see on the screen now or head to disneyfoodblog to pick up your free quick guide today but now we are going to head over to those best top 10 rides number one on our list again not ranking just saying these are the top 10 rides but number one on the list today is Hagrid's magical creatures motorbike Adventure now I'm not sure this is my number one but it's a lot of folks number one on Universal Property I have another Harry Potter ride that I tend to like a little bit more than this one but I know it's a hot take anyway we'll get there sure there aren't many rides I would be willing to wait multiple hours for Hagrid motorbike Adventure is very very rare exception on Hagrid's motorbike Adventure in Islands of Adventure you're going to board your own motorbike or the sidec car of a motorbike I prefer the sidecar I know that's another hot take let me know in the comments if you're a motorbike person or a sidecar person and then you venture into a highspeed journey through the Forbidden Forest where you're going to see tons of Wizarding World Wildlife like centur and unicorns and blast ended Scoot and of course hag it faithful can9 companion fluffy now this roller coaster isn't just about the adrenaline rush though that is a big part of it with its multiple launches and backwards track and surprising sudden drop oh I'm sorry no spoilers but it's also a story told through the combination of advanced animatronics and the classic Harry Potter score that drops us right back into the movies again there are times during this ride when you'll actually slow down enough to really take in the animatronics and the surrounding scenery similar to what a dark ride does and yet even with these slowdowns the coaster never seems to lose its energy or momentum I'm not going to give away all the big secrets of this one but just so you know the multiple elements of this ride will for sure keep you on your toes not literally it's okay you're still sitting down because this coaster is so popular the lines for it are really long all day even if you purchase one of the Universal Express passes which are unbelievably expensive but help you bypass most of the standby lines across both of the parks these passes do not work for Hagrid's motorbike Adventure that's how popular this is so there's no getting around it you have to stand in the standard queue line if you want to ride this one there's not even a virtual queue so the shortest you're going to find the line for hagrids is right when the park opens or earlier if it's one of those days when Resort guests can get into the park an hour before its official opening time well I still wouldn't hold your breath that this coaster will ever be a walk-on experience even if you enter its queue right at the start of the day I mean obviously someone has to be the first one on it right but we tend to get in the line pretty early in the morning and we're still waiting about 30 to 40 minutes but the lines for it are only going to get longer as the day goes on so the earlier you can knock it out the shorter your weight will potentially be there's also the potential of the ride line being shorter toward the very end of the day right before the park closes as long as you get in a queue before a team member closes it off you'll still be able to stay in line and wait for the ride but if you wait to ride hagrids until the end of the day and something happens to it where has to close early whether it be for weather or maintenance reasons then you're not going to be able to come back later to try it again you'll just have to leave the park with your tail between your legs that's just the gamble of waiting until the last minute so make sure you've come to terms with that risk before binking your entire day around it if you'd rather go that route instead of the morning route also for my robe wearing Wizards out there you cannot wear a Wizard's robe if you're sitting on the motorbike so either you're going to have to stick with the sidecar which is again my favorite or you're going to have to let your sidecar passenger wear your robe for you for the duration of your journey now here's an important side note while we talk about these rides today lots of universals raill rides are going to require you to store your personal belongings inside a locker before you hop in the queue like Hagrid's motorbike adventure for instance you got to get a locker before you get on the ride the lockers are free and that's great and the free time is calculated using the ride's current wait time and the actual duration of the ride with a generous cushion and after that each additional half hour is $3 with a daily Max of $20 if you want to leave your stuff in the same Locker all day long you will probably end up spending about 20 bucks for that now a locker attendant can override charges that accured for reasons outside of your control like the ride breaking down so if you're being asked to pay for a locker for reasons that aren't your fault or your choice track down a team member nearby and explain what's up they'll be happy to help you out okay there's a little Locker lure for you now next up is velocci coaster I don't know it's the tossup among our team whether hagrids or velocci coaster is the superior coaster in Islands of Adventure and while I tend to lean towards team Hagrid for the most part I totally get why some folks are d hard velocci coaster fans especially the ones who love extreme Thrills velocci coaster is not a ride for those who have any sort of aversion to coasters or thrill rides cuz it does not pull punches this Jurassic world themed coaster will have you racing against a herd of veloca surus velocar at speeds of up to 70 mph while also taking you on intense inversions near misses and turns incredible Heights on a top hat Tower zero gravity stalls and of course the mosasaurus roll over the water now this is the ride theme park enthusiasts have been looking for all their lives at least so far and even if you're not planning to Brave this one it might still be worth hanging out in the queue with your group members who are riding just so you can check out those impressive and intimidating animatronic dinos once you get to the front with your group members you can always ask a team member to point you in the direction of the chicken exit which some of our team members totally do especially when they're not necessarily feeling the best right after getting off the Hulk not going to name any names but you know what going through the line is still a fun time even if you duck out early next up we've got my preferred Harry Potter ride Harry Potter in the Forbidden Journey this is an Island of Adventure as well and it's the full Thrill Ride experience package you've got the Hogwarts Castle out front you get to walk through it in the standby queue and then when it's time to ride you board this Enchanted bench-like seat that uses a robotic arm to carry you from scene to scene through the power of screen workor and state-of-the-art props Forbidden Journey is going to make you feel like you're tele reporting via flu powder flying on the back of a broom getting knocked around by a wiing willow dodging spiders evading Dementors and being thrown into other wonderfully worrisome experiences that we know love and fear straight out of the Wizarding World this ride can be quite disorienting for some especially if you've just gotten off veloca coaster or hagrids and then immediately hop onto this ride right after so if you're prone to motion sickness make sure you pack your preferred over-the counter motion sickness medication in your Park bag before your visit this goes for just about every ride at Universal it kind of feels like for me so just a heads up on that heading over to Revenge of the Mummy are you brave enough to face the mummy's curse Revenge of the Mummy in Universal Studios is an indoor ride that uses pyot Technics and smoke and high speeds and soul sucking mummies to bring you a thrilling coaster experience minus the upside down loops and sudden drops and 0 to 70 mph launches this one's a dark one a fun one but a dark one and if it's going to be your first time riding the mummy a lot of those ride elements may be more intense than you realize especially when the ride comes to a complete stop but then well I'm not going to spoil it for you so even if your kid is 48 in or taller and able to go on this ride you might want to warn them ahead of time that this one can be a bit on the spooky side all right we've made it to probably my favorite ride in all of Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure ET is ET dated yes is it a little weird yes is it unsettling at times also yes but I could ride this Universal Studios Dark Ride all day long if it were up to me there is just so much to see now on ET Adventure you're going to climb aboard a rather massive bike and help ET escape to his home planet well the first half of the ride is pretty normal and on par with the ET movie itself the second half actually brings you onto the Green Planet where you'll be paraded around as a hero and that plan it is wonderfully weird particularly speaking the last scene is the greatest of them all I mean who wouldn't want to just hang out with a bunch of little ETS and a Trippy glowing art installation of sorts so this attraction is a time capsule in the best possible way it's been in the Universal Studio scene since 1990 and Still Remains as one of the few dark rides that Universal has to offer I also kind of feel like nobody even knows it's there like you have to have like a special desire to find it to go ride et now while there's still a height requirement for this ride you must be at least 34 inches it's a great one for kids as long as they're not totally freaked out by the pink doll-like alien with the glassy eyes and stringy hair that literally belongs in the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise but to be fair a lot of your kids in fifth grade love that thing anyway now before the ride a team member will ask you for your name that's not weird I promise they'll scan a card which you'll hand to another team member right before you board this card will capture your name so the ET can potentially personally say goodbye to you at the ride's conclusion now it's a cute idea but don't be disappointed if it doesn't quite work as well as you'd hoped after all this time I have still never heard him say AJ I'm going to hold out hope though okay we've made it to the water rides popey and Pluto's Bild drat barges yes I don't know how this got on this list either my friends but here it is more often than not you are not going to catch me on this ride and that's because of how successful it is at being a Super Soaker family raft ride located in Islands of Adventure popey and Bluto build RP barges is the ride that'll get you absolutely drenched from head to toe and there are several ride elements you can blame that on first there's the intense Rapids that'll kick a major amount of water into the rafts then there's the multiple waterfalls that will literally dump on you from up above no fake out waterfalls here you'll get the full brunt of those effects each and every time plus this ride has a lot of surprise water features too including a few that allow Spectators to pay to spray water at people who are on the ride as if they weren't getting wet enough as it is so let's just say that all s minutes of this attraction are filled with backtack chances to become the target of a huge Splash so the likelihood of you coming off unscathed is very small if you're visiting during the summer then this ride could be just what you need to help you fight against the Heat of those Orlando days but if you're visiting at any other time be careful with this one cuz you will walk out of it soing wet I think the last time I wrote I was literally ringing out my shirt for the next hour or so and still squeezing out stream streams of water like major streams of water so yeah don't say I didn't warn you now there are people dryers both in ton Lagoon and the Jurassic Park area that you can use if you don't want to walk around the Islands of Adventure all bathtub drenched but these dryers do cost extra like around 5 to 8 each so if you plan on using them prepare to pay for them ooh next is another blast from the past and really why this one is awesome as Nostalgia alone and that's the Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man so when it comes to web Slinger a Spider-Man Adventure in Disney California Adventure versus The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man and Islands of Adventure I must say I prefer Universal Spider-Man by a landslide during the Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man you'll board what the pre-show calls a scoop ride system to go catch the next big journalism story about Spider-Man and his many many Arch nemeses now Universal is pretty well known for its 3D ride systems but Spider-Man does a good job of adding a little variety to this otherwise familiar setup thanks to its use of physical props and 4D features like pyrot Technics and lightning jolts and water effects not to mention the screen imagery here actually makes it feel like you're scaling the New York City buildings which can also be disorienting if you're someone with motion sickness our friend Quincy from all ears told us what she tends to do if the ride is getting a little too rumbly tumbly for her is she'll take off her 3D glasses and look at the corner of the room this helps your brain Orient what your body is actually doing so that the motion sickness doesn't hit you like a freight train moving on on to villan con minion blast I'm not even sure that i' technically call the villain con minion blast a ride it is a brand new attraction that uses a lot of innovative technology that you're going to want to know about before you check it out on villan con minion blast in Universal Studios you'll join the minions bell bottom John Claude and the rest of the vicious six from the Despicable Me franchise and a unique Blaster attraction that'll have you standing on moving platforms while using freeze Rays banana bombs explosive nunchucks and other interesting cartoonish we to rack up points and become the next big super villain of the century this is either going to make grw very proud or very jealous so villain col is great for those who hate to wait in line since it can accommodate lots of guests at a time so even if you don't have an Express Pass you still shouldn't have to worry about waiting more than 20 to 30 minutes to experience this one and if the wait time does claim to be longer than that then hold off on visiting it until later in the day cuz the line should die down as the day goes on keyword should just keep an eye on the villing con wait time via your Universal Orlando app speaking of the universal app you can enhance your villain con experience even more by using the apps villain con gameplay feature just tap your phone to your blaster to embark on special missions unlock evil perks and earn digital Collectibles and if you sync your app it'll remember your previous scores and all of the stuff you earned forever so the more you score it the more you can level up and leveling up means unlocking new challenges from The Vicious six villain so you can have a different attraction experience each each and every time you play we're headed over to Universal Studios for escape from Green gots this is a love it or hate it kind of ride why will you love it well because the theming is incredible if you've ever wanted to take a trip to the green gots Bank straight out of the Harry Potter books and films now's your chance to do it once you pass the Ukrainian ironbelly dragon perched on top of the bank you'll be able to enter grots itself via the que line the queue of this ride might be more impressive than the ride itself with its stunning crystal chandelier elevator ride and lifelike Goblin animatronics as far as the on-ride experience is concerned though this is definitely more of a 3D family coaster the start of the ride pulls you backward and propels you forward into the mines like a toy car getting ready to be dropped on a racetrack from there you've got a pretty smooth coaster ride to look forward to there are twists there are turns there are 360° turning capabilities to help you follow the ride scenes so even if you're not a huge coaster fan this one doesn't get too terribly wild for you but that's also why some of y'all out there might be disappointed in this one in the Harry Potter films the M train cars look a lot more thrilling than this ride actually is so don't wait in line for gring gots expecting the same level of drops and loop-de-loops that the movie depicts not to mention even though the theming inside the queue is completely decked out in physical props and animatronics the ride itself is way more screen heavy so if you're someone who prefers more physical sets than the screen based stuff you'll still probably prefer Hagrid's motorbike Adventure Andor Harry Potter in the Forbidden Journey that being said if you're looking for a smooth coaster ride with impressive green Gods theming this could be a top 10 Contender for your family now see that giant green coaster over in Islands of Adventure good because it's a hard one to miss and you're not going to want to miss it if you're a coaster Enthusiast the incredible H coaster is more than just a crown jewel of Marvel Superhero Island it's also an exhilarating ride that sends you on these intense drops and twists and turns and inversions at a high speed now here's a good rule of thumb for not just this coaster but pretty much all the coasters you go on like ever if you want a more intense experience you're going to want to sit toward the back of the ride just be prepared to be jostled around like a shiny silver marble in a pinball machine for a much smoother experience sit towards the front the ride might not be as intense in the first few rows but you're a lot less likely to have your head knocked against the overhead harnesses typically Universal's team members will automatically assign you a row but you can always try requesting a certain one if you have a preference you might just have to wait a little longer and board on the next coaster vehicle Le instead now hold on hold on we can't wrap up this list just yet I've got two more rides that at least deserve a little recognition here and who knows maybe one of them will wind up being your personal favorite of the bunch honorable mention number one is Hollywood Rip Ride rocket this is over in Universal Studios and it is an intense coaster to put it lightly some people aren't too keen on writing it cuz it can feel a little too rough and rickety at times but the reason other people still love to go on this ride is for the song selections alone as soon as you sit down in the coaster you'll get to choose the song that you want to listen to while you ride this ride I think it truly makes a totally unique experience for each individual Rider but Hold On Tight cuz things get really serious when the vehicle finally takes off the initial Hill pulls you up a 90° vertical chain lift so if you don't like Heights or potential headaches go ahead and sit this one out also note there are secret song selections you can go check out our Universal Studios playlist to get more info honorable mention number two Jurassic Park River Adventure so this is an Island of Adventure and starts out calm and dry enough but as this seemingly peaceful and prehistoric water Cruise continues deeper into the Jurassic Park area things start to get a whole lot more dangerous once you're sent off course and into a restricted area H happens to me every time now you actually make it through the majority of this attraction pretty dry until you take the 85 ft plunge to escape a T-Rex the drop is pretty intense and the resulting Splash usually manages to douse just about everybody in the raft okay Universal fans is there a ride we didn't include in this list that you think deserves a shout out let us know in the comments and don't forget to head to disneyfoodblog docomo for a free quick guide if you want to study up on more of universal Orlando's Park features before your visit thanks for listening everyone and thanks for watching as always this is AJ for Disney food blog and we'll see you real soon
