Cleveland's allowed to smile once a decade in 1995 the Cleveland Browns were nearly declared dead after the team was moved to Baltimore but by the grace of God the team was resurrected in 1999 only two remain lifeless heading into week 8 of the season the Browns are not a very good team and they're facing a saint's team that in that era was not a very good team this was an ugly game trailing [Music] this is one of those great Hail Marys that should be an interception Sammy Knight and Tyrone Drake lured two pretty good defenders both have a bead on this ball they wind up hobbling it and if all wise up again in Johnson's hands to the floor of the end zone and the Cleveland Browns are off the schnide football team the most spectacular play in a long long time anywhere I'm okay with this being at number 10 and on the list period yeah I got no qualms to that it's the first win in rebooted franchise history and to have it happen in the most unexpected manner for a Cleveland Brown what a way to get the win column I don't think you can look back on it and be like well this was the dawn of a new era it's like now it was the only good moment in 20 years it comes as time expires and it comes as a resolute moment of belief for a fanbase that people think the reboot of the Browns in Cleveland has been an abject failure but they had one fun play the hell Mary couch to Johnson 2009 farce plan for the Vikings now I like saying that out loud because it hurts Packers fans feelings Vikings not a fan and then Brett Favre throwing it Louis purple uniforms oh my god right fire what a hammered as he let go of the ball and he actually threw that ball pretty deep in the end zone he lays on the ground and like just pure joy watches to see the catch and the call and then his linemen scooped him up like a toddler in a ball pit to go have a juice box and and hang with the babysitter it's beautiful I mean it's a crazy crazy great throw it's pinpoint accurate but how is it a Hail Mary he throws it on a rope no more rocket balls please I've teamed up no I know I know it's impossible to get the hell Marriott because it's in the air for 1.8 seconds or something like that pehle start yelling give it to him give it to him and decides not to make a call and then another ref comes up behind him as though to be like Jeff you're gonna make this call or what they'll tell me I'm gonna do my job Robert I'm looking it over these are not the guys names Robert seems to have enough and just throws his own hands up behind who were calling Jeff who still has not decided how he feels about this play if I own a gold mine I would always talk once you break the plane is six points I got up and danced didn't wait the Billy white shoes Johnson one is the one on the list that has the least to do with the quarterback it was a Hail Mary that wasn't a very far throw and that came up basically ten yards short of the end zone bounced off a bunch of people throughout the people there most Hail Marys end with the catch but this one he caught the ball and then had to Juke like 47 guys to get in the endzone [Applause] it's amazing yeah it needed to be eight or nine I probably would have put far the last play of the game against the 49ers which is a little bit more of a skilled play in general it still was freakish the fact that they do a Hail Mary ten yards short of the end zone and got touchdown way too low at seven now one at seven number seven I don't know it was still a midseason divisional game what a complete all season changer it is I think seven is probably fair was that his first yeah The Legend of Hale Rodgers was born on a Thursday night in Detroit in 2015 the Rodgers play is the definition of the Hail Mary get down there and I'm just gonna throw it as high and everybody get the Marsh bit and let's see who catches it the throw itself on that Hail Mary is probably one of the best throws you're ever gonna see on a football field how many yards was that pass that was ridiculous oh my gosh that's from the 35 that's close to 70 yards 70 yards distance wise but it looked like he threw it about 70 yards in the air too I think that's what's more amazing to me than anything a lot of the guys could throw up that far but they can't throw it that high if this was in Dallas that would've hit the scoreboard how high and how far did he throw that football credible it's not even humanly possible to throw that far wild night ball was up in the air what was going through your mind catch it you gotta catch it that was an incredible throw but that was an incredible catch that guy was surrounded by like 20 people and he caught it we gonna put his body right in front of everyone Richard Rodgers of all people caught it Rodgers to Rodgers two guys from over Patrick Peterson one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL that's insane he's not stepping into that that pass he is literally going backwards and throw it like 70 yards I cannot believe that he got so I can't do that I can't do all this stuff but this one I know for sure I can't do there aren't a handful of quarterbacks in the history of the National Football League strong enough arm to get it into the end zone and Aaron Rodgers miracle to Jeff Janis Aaron Rodgers Hail Mary to Jeff Janis to tie the game against the Cardinals should be the number one Hail Mary of all time because it came three or four plays after a Hail Mary from Aaron Rodgers to Jeff Janis it's one of the most amazing feats you're gonna see on football field but I understand why it's not higher because of the fact that it only you know drew them you know over time it didn't win the game for them I don't think he should lose spots because the rest of his team blew it I think we have to remember that Hail Mary for what it was which is in my opinion the greatest pass in NFL history they didn't win the game so keine doesn't really mean anything does it Aaron Rodgers it was just a really mean tease it was an making magic I mean how many times can he save the Packers it's fun every single time it's fun right before the half fourth and two time for one more play and pick up something along the sidelines and maybe get a field goal try I was thinking to myself there's no way come on really like this is gonna be another Hail Mary as time expires so it only makes sense though that Aaron Rodgers would sling it up in the air and then jubilation from all Green Bay Packer fans that's pretty crazy I can't even imagine what it's like to have that type of body control to be surrounded a bunt by a bunch of people going after the same thing catch the ball and still delicately place your feet both inbounds he definitely got a little push off there they create a little space for him in the end zone now you're blaming the refs that's cool what happens it's funny wouldn't be the first time de Kock push off no I remember the defensive player running into Cobb and pop simply just trying to make sure a collision didn't happen how much you look not your handle did you give the guy just a little bit not too much it's a fine play but the Aaron Rodgers play against Arizona should be number one there's no way it should lose to a pass that you know right before halftime you tack on some points and the Packers head off at halftime we're gonna party to six lead that was such a huge play the game is very much up in the air and then they complete that Hail Mary and packed her than in crushing the Giants but convincing 3813 victory over the New York Giants it was an odd Hail Mary but it was vintage Rodgers Rogers to cob is at number five because it settles the debate over who is the king of the Hail Mary who's the master that Hail Mary right there's only one and it's a Ron Aaron's the best they're gonna have to rename the Hail Mary social media exploded on this one I think that Twitter almost broke calling Aaron Rodgers the greatest Hail Mary pass er of all time it's funny to say he does this better than anybody when when what it is is just launching a ball into a crowd which is like what a t-shirt cannon does but Rogers is getting credit for it in this moment we'll give you that there's a little bit of lock there but to do it over and over and over that's three in the last you know calendar year for sure it's just like absurd [Music] and deep into the end so the Titanic it is right now thinking about it that was a Packers team that was 15 and won that year that had won the Super Bowl the year before at home and then pretty much shown to be like unstoppable to that point Aaron Rodgers involved in another Hail Mary only this time the underdog Giants had the ball of the repoint lead and a chance to seize the game going into halftime Coughlin is a sneaky kind of riverboat gambler so they were going for the jugular [Applause] they're going for it Wow that's a heck of a boy ferrets a good call I look at that pass and I go God Eli Manning he laid that right in there Eli Manning not necessarily known for his I don't know not known as the strongest armed quarterback in the history of football I was if I try to remember correctly frustrated with Eli for the first half of that game that he does that I'm like see that's my boy That moment when Hakeem next came down with that touchdown I mean the life was just sucked out of that place it was it was over I like the the Eli Manning Hail Mary a head of the Packers Hail Mary I mean because I took no Super Bowl I think that's a great reason for it being a head of the Rogers the Packers didn't make it and and the Giants did what a run for this Packers franchise coming to an end here tonight yeah I really don't want to agree but I get the argument the fail Mary the fake news of Hail Marys I don't like the way this game finished I have a bad taste in my mouth again Aaron Rodgers in another Hail Mary situation Aaron Rodgers is trying to figure out what's going on he's often it's almond say about what the referee lockout frustrations finally came to the final play of b3 to the end zone you've got the perfect like calamity of events that leads to just debate and argument they're looking each other like we're screwed this is a no-win situation do you see him turn and he's looking at the other rap all right I'm gonna wait for him to start putting his arms up and then I'm gonna do whatever he does he's like okay okay okay okay man like that's great [Music] honestly when that happens I'm like whatever it's clearly gonna be reviewed it was clearly the wrong call the NFL's gonna get this right we're smart about the fail Mary is that the rafts reviewed it it's like what are you doing in the review booth just eatin snacks it came down and what I understood from the officials that was a simultaneous catch that's how they called it and then that's a tie goes to the runner good call don't ask me a question about the officials all right so we'll just cut to the chase right there the fail Mary might be the single worst call in the history of football this is wrong I don't feel good about this it was clearly caught by the Packers I don't know man is it a catch is it not a catch it's hard to say if it's simultaneous that means both players are possessing the ball I would love to replay that and view that because that call in that moment as you watch one more look at this replay clearly Jennings has the ball Jennie's is scoring the ball he brings it to his chest all tate has on it is one arm and then official comes in on his touchdown yeah that's Packers sorry was a bad call Golden Tate should have gotten the equivalent of a football Oscar that night for his acting job MD Jennings intercepts the pass and gates walking out here is the player in the game [Applause] top ten Hail Marys and we're gonna throw a failed area three phases the most bizarre sequence you'll ever see at the end of the game to me I'm cool with it being on the list but I would have put this one at like 10 it is really interesting to see the failed marry number three I mean this is a tainted plate what makes that place so significant is it decided the outcome of a game it ended the lock I the feel marry land two three because less than a week later a regular graphs will miraculously back on the field no one is going to talk about how that lockout ended without talking about the fail Mary helped make this happen good a usually last week yes when plays get their own names they certainly deserve be higher on the list because you say fail Mary you instantly know Monday Night Football Packers Seahawks and no way did he catch that ball flavoured Ahmad Rashad that was pretty miraculous I have passionate love but a Cleveland Brown 59 minutes and 59 seconds and loses the game don't bring that up man please soft spot I remember that a moderate shot like who would have thought this was a Maude Rashad's greatest catch until phylicia rashad that's the most nonchalant like incredible play I've ever seen anybody make 23 to 22 and favor of [Applause] anything hitch [Applause] I'll take that I'll have it he didn't catch it he's smashing come on somebody the bomb was supposed to go out of bounds and he just like oh by the way breathe that ball to balance the reflection get it behind your back one hand and still have enough body control to get in the end zone that was pretty awesome I could watch that all day the play before this Hail Mary is an amazing play as well the Vikings run a hook and lateral play Tommy Cramer drops back throws over the middle to Joe Sensar very good tight end censor pitches the ball to Ted Brown a very good running back Browns takes a lateral gets the ball to midfield you could do it all time top ten lists of best plays before the Hail Mary and that might be the number one play it was definitely the coolest Hail Mary catch [Music] I don't know if it's number two quite honestly because I think the playoff ones need that matter a little bit more Rashad's catch may not have been in the playoffs but it did have playoff implications not only does it lead to a victory it leads to a playoff spot there was a lot on the line that day that pushed them into playoffs that's I didn't think it's that's deserves to be number two for the significance of that play like that there's really no more dramatic way for a team to make the playoffs then to have an end on Hail Mary like that it wasn't like oh there you go what the Hail Mary [Music] Roger Staubach to Drew Pearson against men will be talking 75 yeah yeah that's six years before my inception but I've heard tale from my father for my uncles that fit the moment you needed a miracle you pray for that miracle and not to stop that got it without from Drew Pearson I'll stop our guys to perform some kind of magic roger stall back he can say as many prayers as he wants but I guess he prayed his way into the number one spot so somebody's listening up there I think the first thing that makes it memorable is that it was a playoff game and it looked like the Cowboys were gonna lose you almost had this sense that if there was anybody that was gonna pull it off it'd be Roger Staubach [Applause] forgive me chills kinda watching that give me chills Staubach - piercing lands at number one because of its significance and for what happened after the game and after the game they just said to me Roger what were you thinking about when you threw the ball I just said well I I closed my eyes and said a Hail Mary I'm a Catholic kid from Cincinnati [Music] gotta pass until the fourth quarter the greatest Hail Mary of all time you have as the original so-called Hail Mary Drew Pearson blatantly pushes off why did that place stand it's okay to have a number one although the push-off is tough to ignore I mean Drew Pearson got away with one we all know Drew Pearson pushed off but you know who cares let's fan in one magic moment Drew Pearson transform defeat into victory Roger Staubach described it as a Hail Mary play the first and original has to be number one on the list [Music] I feel like just because it was the original doesn't mean it should be number one it really has just a phenomenal contribution to sports jargon we didn't call it a Hail Mary before then we called it a desperation play all the ones that come after are really good as well but that first one leaves you feeling like what did I just see did that how do I feel about that it's a playoff game with America's team at the Roger Staubach for God's sake Blessed Virgin thanks a lot of me anyway I've got got her on the map and there's always a time in her life when we need a Hail Mary Hail Mary full of grace the Lord is with thee blessed are thou amongst women blessed through lamb Jews Holy
