remember rushing home from school in the 80s so you can finally turn on that NES and play some balloon fight with your friends of course you don't because no one has ever said those words until this very moment but somehow balloon fight was one of the 30 games Nintendo included on the NES classic edition this inspired me to make a top 10 list of games missing on the NES classic edition and I'll even tell you the 10 games they should get rid of let's get started what's up guys if this is your first time here at the channel my name is Tyler and if you love gaming from all generations like we do here at g3 then consider hitting that subscribe button and hit that Bell for notifications so you don't miss anything the NES is without a doubt my most favorite console of all time so of course I love the NES classic edition and most of the games included are amazing and should definitely be on the system but here are 10 games that I absolutely cannot believe didn't make the cut number 10 on my list is paperboy what's not to like about this game you're a kid on a bike trying to deliver papers new subscribers while having to avoid breakdancers lawnmowers skateboarders housewives with rolling pins and all kinds of other craziness you even get a fun obstacle course at the end of each level this game is pure 80s joy and definitely still holds up number 9 is the first wrestling title on the NES pro wrestler with a bizarre but fun cast of characters with their own special moves this game was quite innovative because it had an in-ring referee a cameraman and you could even fight outside of the ring and two of the characters were actually modeled after popular u.s. and japanese wrestlers like antonio inoki and ric flair this game should definitely be on the classic so everyone can get a chance to pin their opponent and see the now-infamous phrase number eight is about the most 80s game you can get but rad racer is still a blast to play I mean what game today can get away with the word rad and still be cool the red sports car being able to change the music and the sound of the car when it hits full speed or some of my earliest the most enjoyable memories on the NES and don't forget you can hit the select button to change into 3d mode I mean how cool would it have been for Nintendo to have this game on the classic with some retro 3d glasses packaged inside definitely a missed opportunity here number seven is the Lucasfilm point-and-click adventure maniac mansion now granted the point-and-click aspect of the game is a little cumbersome when using a d-pad but the ability to choose your characters interact with random objects and the mansion solve some puzzles and enjoy some fun cutscenes trying to save the main character's girlfriend from dr. Fred and his crazy family make this a pretty unforgettable NES experience I will give you one clue the hamster is not supposed to go in the microwave number 6 is one of my favorite go to games my cousins and I would play almost every day and that is our C program remote-control cars were huge back in the 80s and 90s and this game did a great job capitalizing on that fad the concept is so simple to pick up and enjoyed but extremely addictive and challenging by adding special letters and items you need to pick up so you can enhance your vehicle you had to place in the top three racers to make it to the next race and the sound effects and music are just great I actually had to make myself stop playing this game while capturing some gameplay footage for the video it's just that fun and why it's not on the classic baffles me number 5 on the list is wizards and warriors this adventure platformer puts you in control of a knight fighting his way through countless lands and enemies in order to save multiple damsels in distress the controls in music are grade the enemies are tough but fair and hunting for treasure chests to collect gems and magical items to help you on your journey is so exciting even the music that comes on when you're about to die is awesome and the death sprite with a dangling leg is one of the great attention to detail that keeps you coming back from world number four is one of the most underappreciated games on the NES and that is the amazing action-adventure RPG rygaard you control the hero rygar who single-handedly saves the world of our ghoul from the evil king lie guard to restore peace to the realm you do this with the help of your awesome weapon the disc armor which is basically a combination of a captain American shield and a yo-yo the scenes and backgrounds look amazing for the time and really give a sense of depth and an epic adventurous atmosphere this is one of the first games that you had to grind and increase your health and strength and you get to collect some really fun items to assist you in your quest like a grappling hook and a crossbow this game is very challenging with both 2d platforming and a top-down view overworld to keep you busy exploring for hours when you first are learning the game not to mention it has some of the best box art on the NES and I think it's an NES masterpiece number three on the list is contra yes I know that super C is already on the classic edition but to not include the original classic running gun game that is one of the first games that use the infamous Konami code to let you start with 30 lives just makes no sense at all this game was the benchmark of videogame toughness when talking with your buddies at school and everyone had the original contract I was shocked when I found out it wasn't included on the classic Edition I just don't see how you can justify not including it number two is Castlevania 3 Dracula's curse now including the original Castlevania on the classic was an absolute must in that game is NES gold but going with the sequel Simon's quest is just absurd we all know how off-the-wall and absolutely annoying this game is so why would a Nintendo think people would want to play it again it completely went off on too much of an RPG tangent with most of the game involving painfully slow text to read and send you on mindless tasks have nothing to do with the reason people love castlevania castlevania three breathed new life into this franchise by returning to the original platforming style and making the game a prequel to the original Castlevania you play as Trevor Belmont which is Simon Belmont ancestor and guide him to his destiny to defeat Dracula and to help you in your quest is the ability to transform into three spiritual companions with different special abilities the first this grant dinasty who is a pirate that can climb on walls and change direction mid jump which is an awesome feature the second is Sipho Bill Nye days a young sorceress with powerful magic spells and last but definitely not least is Dracula's son Alucard who has the ability to shoot fireballs and transform into a bat having the choice of all these characters along with being able to choose different paths throughout the game and the unbelievably amazing Konami music combined to give you a near-perfect NES game and it should have been one of the first inclusions on the classic now before we get to number 1 on the list I want to quickly tell you the 10 games I don't think belong on the NES classic at all you may have already guessed from the intro to this video that balloon fight is the first on the list this game is too repetitive and it's just an easily forgotten game I'm going to group the next five games into one category since they're basically NES ports of popular arcade titles like Donkey Kong Donkey Kong jr. Galaga pac-man and Mario Brothers these games are meant to be played on an arcade cabinet with joystick controls and you just don't get the full experience with a d-pad I'm sure some person from corporate thought how about we put five of our popular arcade titles on the classic fans will love that right how about ice climber should also have never been on this system because the controls are terrible which is so out of character for a game developed by Nintendo dr. Mario is just garbage and I've already explained my frustrations about that game in my overrated NES games video a while back I'll put a link in the description if you want to check that video out obviously Simon's quest is out as I said earlier and I think supercedes should make room for the orig contract it's now time for our number one missing game on the NES classic and it was a late arrival in the lifespan of the NES but it's one of the most challenging beautiful and fun games ever created and that is Battletoads this beat'em up platformer puts you in control of two of the three Battletoads rations it's on a mission to rescue their kidnap partner pimple and rescue princess Angelica from the evil Dark Queen the over-the-top animation and comical action sprites the toads use like the giant fists or boots just set this game apart from any other at the time the game is notoriously hard and I've never beat it myself but the game draws you in right from the beginning and it doesn't let go it's so addictive and you always feel you're gonna get it on the next try the first time you defeat the turbo tunnel level is by far one of the most rewarding experiences and video games that you'll ever have the fact that this game was left out of the classic edition is completely unacceptable because I feel the true goal of releasing the NES classic is to first completely try to capture the nostalgia and overall tone of what people loved about the NES turn its heyday and to include games that people who never experienced the NES would be impressed by and truly want to play because it connects with the gamer in all of us do you agree with my top ten let me know in the comments below also let me know if there are any other games you think should be included on the classic Edition until next time guys g3 out [Music]
