okay hi guys and welcome to the show today I'm going to be discussing my top ten watches for under $200 now this seems to be one of the most requested price ranges I think it's mainly because people are comfortable spending this amount of money on a watch it certainly seems to be the price range of most fashion watches so today I wanted to share with you brands that have real horological heritage there's some there's some definite icons in this list as well for the same money and watch is that you guys know I adore so let's let's roll the intro and get into this video [Music] okay welcome back guys now before I get into this list I really should do wristwatch check I'm putting a Schwarzkopf today I'm using my data bank and actually this really should be in my top 10 it would probably be 1112 something like that I can't put all the watches I mean there's just so many watches at this price range and that's why really I I want to be more of these videos but the data bank is a wonderful reissue of a classic iconic Casio very very 80s very retro but I love it I think it's about 60 bucks around around back 60 bucks tremendous value for money and that's what we're discussing today value for money the best watches in my opinion and this is a totally subjective list I've got to you know what's the word a disclaimer I've got I've got to put that disclaimer in here it is my honest if you have your own suggestions please do not Nate them in the comments let's try and help out as many people as we can get to those fantastic watches and be happy with their timepieces now on the other wrist I'm wearing the vin 104 i mean you couldn't get more pull offs it automatic german-made classic wonderful piece and I've just used it up a little bit with a maroon I guess it's maroon well it looks more like purple to me but to give it an extra little bit of pizzazz and put it on this colorful notice truck anyway let's get on with the list now I should also point out that this is in not in any order of importance the numbers are just there for reference but let's get some classic you know some channel classics after the words but I can't leave this list without putting the center ice caps in there whether it's the zero zero nine a zero zero seven or the zero 13 so that is that number 10 for me it's the same to SK a hugely hugely iconic guy watch ISO certified respected by the prawns 200 meters water resistant automatic with the 7s p6 infinitely moddable I mean it's a the icon it's a wonderful wonderful diamond watch that just has so much character from those who could say inspired wave on the back to that beautiful tool aesthetic cooking case and of course the crown at the four o'clock I mean I'm not going to bang on about it you guys know my admiration for this piece I've owned well I'm lost I've lost count but I've owned this watch a hell of a lot shelling the SKS and the Seamaster are the 2 watches I've owned the most of or various incarnations of at least so that's definitely out number 10 let's just get that out of the way and of course it is 42 millimeters if you want to go smaller than the mid-size which i think is 36 or 38 i guys correct me but it is a lot dramatically smaller but actually the standard sk0 7 & 9 where like a 40 they really do thanks for that cushion case what else to mention now yet a little bit dated because that doesn't have the many wine and hacking but still fun enough in in supply in stock everywhere I mean there were rumors that it was it was being discontinued it doesn't seem to be slopping down whatsoever the only thing I had noticed is the Japanese version the J version I've done a comparison between two you can't get them anymore they seem to really be difficult to find and the prices kind of inflated because of it that the standard s KX k version is still well under $200 so anyway that's not insane let's move on because I'm sure you're you're bored of me going on about the SK so number 9 is another channel favorite it is of course the Bambi nor the the Orient bambina now my favorite is the second generation and the biggest leap from the first the second generation was an introduction or the upgrade the s 7 to 2 movement which of course is an in-house automatic they added the money whine they added the hacking feature as well and I love the bambinos they're a wonderful affordable dress watch with a ton of charm and style to them there's the bass esque one there's the more classic early this century style one with the wrong numerals strap monsters and what I love about them is not everybody needs a dress watch all the time and if you occasionally have to dress up for a work function or wedding something like that the bambina is it a great affordable option because for a lot of people myself included I just can't at the moment I mean I just can't justify spending ten thousand dollars on a beautiful little shoes you look all clear ultra thin but the bambina has a bit of that charm of course it's not as refined will never be but you do get an automatic mechanical timepiece for a fraction of the price its traditional watch many years in house for a try absolute bargain and well under I mean what are they going for onion twenty hundred thirty around that kind of mark amazing watch is amazing what's left number nine and while we on orient a few honorable mentions the orient maker to and the orient ray to with the s sixty-nine movement another in the house wonderful two hundred meter water resistant divers just amazing a serious competitor to the SK X but of course doesn't have the Heritage but you know they are wonderful alternatives if this was a top-20 they'd be in there anyway let's move on so orin orin it's out the way so that was number nine moving on number eight it's got a bit of sake of five I mean where do we begin with the sake of five there's ton them so let me just explain to you the ideology of why they're called cycle five right back in the early days because believe it or not this is an iconic watch now they've been going since the 60s the five key principles were they had to be automatic there had to be durable and robust they had to have the day and the date function in one single window they had to have a recessed crown originally the I think the principles had to be it was at four o'clock although these days changed slightly you find Sega fives with the crown at three o'clock and what was the last thing the water they have to be water resistant that's right so those are the five key principles my pick of the bunch and you guys saw the review if you missed it have a look back I'll an links in the description and if you're watching this on a computer they'll be cards in the corner so my pick of the bunch is the s n k l 23 a wonderful affordable alternative to Assad zero three three actually very stylistically very similar a great everyday watch but I have to also mention the SNK 8:09 it has a dial of a fleegle at the case of a field watch wonderful migration stylistically of these two genres a little 37 millimeter this is of course the automatic as as in keeping with the sacrified principles very affordable I think I think the the SNK 8:09 goes for about 50 bucks you pick them up on Amazon for about 60 amazing absolutely astounding I mean just imagine you getting all those complications a real an automatic piece for 50 bucks very hard to be has to go on my list of you know best value definitely under $200 anyway moving on so that was number eight number seven another channel favorite well there's a lot of channel favorites I will reviewed this watch as well another iconic watch this time from citizen the Japanese band of course this is the citizen NY zero zero four zero this was actually issued to the marina really value the Italian wrong Navy it is a truly marvelous automatic diver to hundreds of water-resistant and in my opinion the closest watch to take the crown from the skx is that as the entry-level dive watch the S case is undoubted in King at this price range but this is probably the number two in my opinion because it does have that military history with it also it's a very unique design slightly 90s with its little it's been described as the y front lieu marker at the 12 it has a crown at the age of clocks are very unique and you can get in a variety of colors aliens are stunning sunburst blue version is also a luminous style version which is just very very legible obviously and it does exactly what it's supposed to do I love this watch a ton of charm and character of its own what is the diameter I think it's supposed to be 42 but it's much smaller it wears like a 40 or 38 great great watch and you can still pick them up find the $200 so let's move on another iconic watch and this time the first Swiss watch in might the lineup so this is so what was that last one was number seven this is number yes citizen of them say this is number six and it is of course the swatch system 51 named after the 51 parts that make up the movement and it is an incredible leap or innovation in in watchmaking It's Made horological history so well together completed by one single screw hermetically sealed with an incredible 90 hour power reserve it's made from start to finish without any human interaction it's a true true marvel of engineering without a doubt whether you love it stylistically or you loathe it guys I mean it's at what is it $150 rather Mac that price range it is Lewis it's the magic for under $200 it can't be beat it I think this is them the most affordable Suites organizing unless you go vintage but we're talking about new watches today with all around new watches so hugely important but what I love most about this system 51 is it truly in keeping with the founding concept of swatch swatches amalgamation of the two words second watch it was made in essence a fashion watch but made in response to the courts crisis of the 17 as we go into the 80s which wanted something that was very affordable that was lively fun and they've become incredibly collectible I collected several I picked up if you want to go vintage you can pick up the beautiful eighties and nineties ones for an absolute bargain on eBay so this in essence is a wonderful continuation of that that thinking of that design ideology or concept into a different you know into the automatic game which is just wonderful I'm so excited to see what swatch do next because especially with the advancements in manufacturing technologies it's very exciting anyway so the only reason I don't own one is because it's 42 millimeters too large for me and having said that if you don't on a gold sematic have a look at the quartz chronographs for the same around about the same price be might pick up a bunch of the destination NYC gorgeous very very fun and if you have the smaller wrist you can pick up for 50 bucks or there's tons of offerings on eBay and also on Amazon I mean just there's so much to pick and mix you know that that's what's fun about them you you're able for not very much to add a little bit extra flair with a variety to your collection or for your first watch it just really is an excellent choice and a great way to get people into her ology and into watches affordably and without breaking the bank let's move on so that was number six number what's next what's next another huge icon one I just recently picked up it is of course the Casio DW 5600 under $200 there's so many to choose from my favorite is the military version I recently picked up have a look at my review it's completely blacked out in fact I spent about 100 bucks on mine it was about 60 or 70 then I spent about 30 bucks on more than year added and NATO adapter bull bars really fun why is this watch so important well it's the truest descendent so to speak of the original G shop back in 1983 invented of course by key core iBaby watchmaker that invented G Shock the fact that the legend goes that he inherited the watch aliens by his father's grandfather he dropped it traditional mechanical toy bezel could stop working so he wanted to come up with something that was shock resistance that was waters in the take the punishment and hence typical Japanese innovation the g-shot was born the DW 5600 is the closest you'll get certainly aesthetically to the original wonderful wonderful watch but not only that they're affordable and of course thank you thank you and of course you know 200 meters welds Issa's you've got stopwatches you've got countdown you have 24-hour tiny other almost better those it reminds that area also has the hourly signal the g-shock the two-year battery life you can spend a little bit more and get the solar panel solar panel better what am I saying you can't spend a little bit more and get the solar-powered one I forget in reference but wonderful wonderful watches and I think every collection should ever be to watch and this is a great way to go because you can pop it on I I wear a g-shot every single day during my workout I use it to time my cardio I use it to time my planks when I'm doing yes I know it may be maybe too much information but yeah it's practical and that's the point what I love is it's not burn up like a lot of the modern G shops it's a modestly sized g-shock that even skinny risk like mine could pull it off totally fine what's the size yeah about 42 millimeters in diameter there so yeah and of course it's back resin so it's not stainless but everything else has been stainless steel up to this point and a few honorable mentions while we're on the subject of Castille check out actually I'm due to review the edifice one of the edifice watch is this is incredible watch picked up this for a hundred bucks amazing value for money because the technology in the edifice line is just phenomenal I'm going to review this soon so stay tuned but incredible so Casio really have a lot to offer in this price range also if you want to go retro you could even get the one from Back to the Future I think they're about 50 bucks you know this is completely plastic this is a little bit more 80s in stainless steel but yet have a look our noble mentions have a look at the rest of the castle range so that was number five number four and now this isn't cheating a little bit because it's a smidgen over two hundred bucks but I had to put it in the list because guys it's such a hugely I can't watch that it's worth just pay that little bit extra and get it I am of course talking about the Hamilton car key field this is the mechanical version a Swiss watch that has a history going back to World War Two Hamilton main worker watches for the US military because originally they were an American company or Fanning in 1892 now they're part of swatch of course of a Swiss made but guys the quality is still impeccable this is a beautiful 38 millimeter diameter it is probably the truest modern descendant of one of the most iconic field watches ever made and wind of course and it has that wonderful field watch aesthetic with 24 hours on the inner part of the dial it's water-resistant to 60 meters it has sapphire glass which is very impressive and of course it has that bead blasted case that is just so like very military but drilled lug holes as well the true strap monks are very very versatile I love it I love in factually I might buy one just for the hell of it they function as well so yeah it's a great great watch and worth just to spend the extra 30 20 bucks I know cheating a little bit but I had to put it in this okay so that was number four number three another military watch slightly newer and this is from American this is the Mauser navigator now this is a quartz piece based on a Swiss etas very reliable but what makes this so mainly well first of all it has tritium loon which is just amazing as it has a life of twenty five years or something like that it differs from the luminescent that we've seen in the previous watches that it's constantly growing it's actually a tiny bit radioactive but don't worry won't harm you now this is made out of a fiber shell very stringent military specification this is a true milspec watch used to the stage armies all across the world I think the IDF wear them or had them issued certain I think the parachute regiment Canadian Armed Forces US military so they're made very very specific standard to resist certain pressures the Marathon Navigator is a fantastic 41 millimeter it's water-resistant to 50 meters it's based on an ETA F zero six which is just a wonderful quartz movement the accuracy on this thing is zero point three or plus zero point three I mean it's just ridiculous and of course we are joined by the MIP near the Admiral service or wherever it happens every time I don't live in a warzone trust me beside the hot living Island okay thank you guys I apologize also if it's a little dark it's very cloudy dingy day out there my favorite as you guys know anyway what was I saying what a long body is completely black you know so it has that military aesthetic the watch also features a splendidly useful bi-directional 12-hour bezel that you can keep track of eight seconds times on very practical for everyday and it just has that tough aesthetic but tonight it's being used in the field American I'm hugely respected for them and military Watchers they have a quite a long history of it dating way back I think to the turn of the century there they have a huge heritage in making military watches they really know what they're doing it's a kind of sign of respect when military and governments all over the world choose them you know it shows trust okay so that was number three now number two and it is the Victorinox infantry watch this is a Swiss made quartz watch now a lot of you will know Victorinox from well they're nice makers have been making knives since 1884 but in the late 80s they bought that expertise and knowledge and craftsmen into watchmaking and you can really tell because I actually owned several Victorinox watchings way back before I had a channel I owned the Maverick to chronograph now that it was substantially more expensive than this but the quality was there and that's why I'm included them in the list this watch is just a smidgen under two hundred dollars but is it one for forty millimeters but what I love about it why I put it in this list is not only the fantastic fit and finish that you get with the tour knocks but also the vintage aesthetic it's the only one in this list that actually kind of has that old-school look numerals on the dial that wonderful slightly recessed crown doesn't really have crown guards but it has a little suggestion of crown guards and it also has anti reflective sapphire glass which is fantastic water resistance of 100 meters Swiss ETA N and if you want to spend a little bit more you can get the automatic version for not that much more so incredible value for money because I think you really do get a well-made watch there okay so that was number two number one now this might surprise you I actually owned this watch and I'll see if I can put a a picture of me wearing it now this I was a slightly larger chap back then this is the citizen BL five four zero zero 52 a this is an eco Drive powered watch its citizens own technology they developed an eco Drive is tremendous I mean it has it can go I think six months with with just a days charge or something ridiculous it is really great solar technology but what is amazing value for money with this watch is yeah it's a little bit busy but you get so many congregations for the money what I thought it was about four or five hundred dollars but nowadays you can pick them up this is the white Bell version there is a black dial version but I can't say for definitely pick it up for this price the white dial is on I very much a kind of brightening navvy time and inspired flight watch but you get a one twentieth of a second chronograph in rotating bezel best of all you get a perpetual calendar jewel alarms and jewel x on which is just phenomenal not only that and water resistance of 100 meters and I might get a bit of flack for this but I gotta say I think citizens entry-level watches are finished to a higher standard I had agreed then Seiko it's just something about it tactile feel is just they really have quality in even these entry-level timepieces talk about bang per buck I mean really substantial watching a double push behind the client it's a wonderfully beefy solid watch for the money and that is a point it's not going to be for everybody it is massive 48 million I think it's tough it's not fully a I think it weighs like a 44 it's a big being watch but very fun and if you can put it off it's a great great piece I mean you really have a lot of fun with it anyway a few more honorable mentions that is my top 10 but we should also put in the Casio doodle duro wonderful $50 quart diver watch I also reviewed have a look back and of course we haven't had any time X in there there's just had this Lisp in the top 20 that definitely be probably two or three times X's in it my favorite is the Timex expedition great right-field watch in fact I mixed a very long history out somebody will really kind of forget that they also have a long history of what making military watches as well so the expedition has that kind of lineage in it and I think is only about 30 bucks incredible another mention which probably would be probably number 12 and number 13 had this been a top 20 is of course the sake of flight master one of my personal favorites go down crown was resistant 200 meter alarm multiple timezones what else it's just a fantastic flight watch now unfortunately they are starting to go up in price because I'm starting to notice a lot of places selling out for the the white version I forget the reference number that particular version but that is definitely sold out the price has gone through the roof on that one finally the one I have SNA for 1/1 which is just the black dial version wonderful wonderful watch I still am in love with that piece it is quartz but you do get the slight sweet to the second hand and the chronograph which is just a very charming touch we should also definitely give an honorable mention to the citizen nightwalker fantastic eco-drive aviation piece I've also reviewed usually around about the $200 mark anyway guys that is my top 10 please do share yours down below I love to hear your suggestions I mean there's just so much at this price range so guys if you're watching this and you want to hear some more suggestions please do have a look at what my audience suggest so I'm going to leave with that please don't forget to add your thoughts queries questions opinions all the rest of it down in the comments below thank you very very much for watching please don't forget
