great to own for the first four to five years under warranty they can quickly become pretty expensive in terms of maintenance and repairs beyond that point so if you're thinking of buying a luxury suv consumer we're going to start this list off with number 10 which is the infiniti qx60 now even though the infiniti brand is nowhere near as popular as it once was the qx60 is actually one of the few shining examples in the lineup this is a very well designed three row crossover suv that's perfect for families that need to carry a lot of space and a lot of passengers and not only does it offer a lot of room but it's also extremely luxurious with really nice high-end finishes lots of great features and technology and a really solid powertrain too the qx60 is powered by infiniti's legendary 3.5 liter v6 engine which is known to be very durable and long lasting and the engine also comes matched to a new 9-speed automatic transmission which is a huge upgrade from the somewhat problematic cvt that used to be found on the older models and the qx60 is also a pretty decent value for what it offers even when you compare it against similar size luxury suvs from other brands put it all together and you have a great luxury suv that's a safe choice to own past the warranty period with minimal repair costs but if you're looking for something even bigger and more practical in the qx60 then let's move on to number nine on the list which is the gmc yukon denali now i know what some might be thinking can the yukon really be considered a luxury suv well for one thing it certainly has a luxury suv price tag they're not exactly that cheap to buy but when you compare it against the proper luxury brand the cadillac escalade i really think the yukon offers really good value for the money you basically get all the same benefits as the escalade a really nice smooth ride excellent power and refinement and most of the same features and technology as well but all for a much lower price and the yukon also has a better reputation for reliability than the more complicated escalade which is sometimes known to be more problematic you also get a choice between a few very solid engines gm's ecotec v8 line now these engines were known for having some lifter issues which fortunately were resolved under warranty and with that issue resolved you should have a very durable long lasting engine that can hold up for hundreds of thousands of miles so if you're looking for a full-sized suv that's not only comfortable and refined but offers a lot of great features and technology and one that's also built for towing and built to last you're not going to find much of a better choice than the gmc yukon but if you're looking for something that's more on the opposite end a compact luxury suv that's a little bit sporty then let's move on to number eight on the list which is the acura rdx the rdx is a great choice for anybody who's looking for a value pack luxury suv that not only offers a great comfortable ride but one that also offers great performance and handling too this is a great driving crossover not only is it a lot of fun to drive but also offers very strong performance too from a 2-liter turbo 4-cylinder engine and acura's super handling all-wheel drive system and it's also a very practical suv too with a surprising amount of interior space and cargo space lots of great features in tech and all for a really attractive price and best of all the rdx has a very good reputation for reliability so it's a very safe choice to own past the warranty period too but the same could also be said of the other suv in acura's lineup which is number seven on the list the acura mdx the mdx is basically the larger version of the rdx so for anybody who just needs to have additional space especially a third row of seats then the mdx is the obvious choice but not only is it a lot larger and more practical but it also has a more luxurious interior with even more features than what you can get on the rdx and it also has a completely different drivetrain too the mdx comes standard with acura's long-running 3.5 liter naturally aspirated v6 engine which has been around for an extremely long time this is known to be a very reliable and durable engine that will last a very long time with just basic maintenance which is what makes the mdx a really safe choice to own past the warranty period the mdx is also a pretty good value for what acura is asking especially when you compare it against some of the other luxury suvs that are a similar size so if what you're looking for is a well-rounded three-row luxury suv you're not going to find much of a better choice than the mdx but if you want something that's a little bit more high-end with more prestige than the acura badge then look no further than number six on the list which is the porsche cayenne without question if you want a high-end luxury suv the porsche cayenne is one of the very best ones on the market this is the type of suv that pretty much delivers it all lots of interior space and cargo space a very luxurious interior with lots of high-end finishes and great features and amazing performance too porsches are known for their amazing handling engagement and strong performance and the cayenne is no disappointment you can get the cayenne in a variety of different models with different engines depending on how much power you want and depending on your budget even though the top of the line turbo and turbo gts offer mind-blowing performance from a twin-turbo v8 engine you don't necessarily need to go that high-end if you want to have a really good time from behind the wheel you're still going to get the full porsche experience if you go for the mid-range cayenne s or gts which i think are the picks of the range but whichever way you go you are not going to be disappointed with the cayenne which is one of the best high-end luxury suvs on the market but if you are okay with having something that's a little bit on the smaller side then you could save yourself some money by going with number five on the list which is the porsche macan the macon is basically porsche's smaller offering to the cayenne and for those who don't need to have as much space as the cayenne offers it's the perfect choice the macan is easily one of the best handling suvs on the market and anyone who wants to have a little bit of fun behind the wheel this is the suv for you and like the cayenne you can get the macan with a few different drivetrains including a four cylinder turbo or a twin turbo v6 either way you're going to get great performance and you're also going to get a very luxurious and comfortable interior too porsches are known for their high end feel and excellent build quality and the macan is definitely no different now it certainly doesn't offer the most amount of space so this is really the type of suv for those who are looking for style luxury and prestige more so than cargo space or rear seat space and if that sounds like you then the macon might be a really good choice and much like many other porsche models they are known for their excellent build quality and reliability so this is a safe one to own past the warranty period too but even though porsches are known for having higher build quality than other european luxury brands they can still be expensive to own past the warranty period if you're planning on keeping one upwards of 10 to 15 years so if you're planning on buying a luxury suv for keeping for as long as possible and want to keep those repair costs down to a minimum then it's best to move on to the next brand on the list and the next models on the list which are number three and four the lexus gx460 and the lx600 now in putting these two suvs together on the list because they are very similar in many ways if you are looking for a full-sized body-on-frame suv built for a little bit of off-roading but more importantly built for cargo space and hauling a lot of stuff then these two are both excellent choices the gx460 is more of an old-school simple suv with body-on-frame construction a simple naturally aspirated v8 engine with a six-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive lexus has been making the gx for an extremely long time and has become legendary for its amazing durability and longevity so if you're looking for a durable rugged off-road oriented luxury suv that's built to take you through a zombie apocalypse i can think of no better option than the gx460 but if you want something with a similar flavor to the gx but that's more modern with better tech then the lx600 is a really good alternative built on the same platform as the legendary toyota land cruiser the lx600 is an excellent suv but at the end of the day both of these are pretty expensive full-sized suvs and a lot of buyers are not necessarily going to need the capability and space that you get with a gx or an lx so if you want something that's a little bit more sensible and lower priced but you still want to have that great lexus reliability then let's move on to number two on the list which is the lexus nx without question the lexus nx is one of the very best compact luxury suvs that you can buy on the market especially for someone who wants the best reliability and plans to own it as long as possible the nx comes in a few different flavors depending on what you're looking for you could go for the nx350 which comes with the turbo four-cylinder engine designed more for performance or you could go for the nx350h which is a hybrid design for those who want the absolute best fuel economy you could also get the nx450h plus which is a plug-in hybrid model giving you really strong performance and amazing fuel economy too combined with an all-electric driving range of around 40 miles or 65 kilometers and it's also a really good value for what lexus is asking especially when you compare it against similar compact luxury suvs from other brands so if you want a small luxury suv that delivers it all especially long-term reliability then you just can't go wrong with the lexus nx but if you like everything that the nx offers but just want something that's a little bit bigger and more practical then let's move on to number one on the list which is the lexus rx without question anybody who wants a reliable long lasting luxury suv that's an absolute no-brainer then the rx is the one to have the rx has been on the market for over two decades and has built one of the strongest reputations for its amazing reliability low repair costs and low maintenance costs the rx also offers a lot of great choices including a regular gas version a hybrid or for 2023 a plug-in hybrid model too and of course it's also a very good luxury suv so anybody who wants a very comfortable refined smooth ride but one that also offers a lot of great features in tech the rx is a really good choice given everything that it offers it's really hard to recommend a better option than the lexus rx it really is one of the best luxury suvs that you can buy especially for someone that wants to hold on
