Top 10 Best Builds for Diablo 3 2.7 Season 23 (All Classes, Tier List)

hey folks this is riker with a diaper 3 season 23 video on the best builds in this video we're going to take a look at the top 10 best builds that you can play in season 23 for solo greater rift pushing and we're going to group about 50 of the top builds in this game into a tier list of their relative power as last time this video is brought to you in collaboration with the fine folks over at maxrole.gg where a think tank of some of the top diablo 3 players who you'll be seeing on the leaderboards combined their brain power play experience and the power of math to figure out what the best builds of season 23 will be so let's move into the tier list itself and put up the season 22 tier list to compare what has changed as a refresher our tiers are measured in terms of relative power compared to s-tier builds which are the best builds in the game the s-tier builds are the ones expected to be topping the leaderboards by the end of the season and we should note here that there are some builds that perform exceptionally well at the start of the season like the demon hunters shadow impale build but these builds are not necessarily the best builds they're just easy to put together but will eventually reach a cap that will be exceeded by other builds in other words the builds topping the leaderboards one or two weeks into a season may not be the same at the end of the season so going back to our tier definition you can expect b tier builds for instance to be reaching an average of 10 greater rift levels lower than s-tier builds and as perhaps over simplified extrapolation if you personally are topping out at gr 100 with a c tier build then you can expect to top out at a gr110 with an a tier build for example now as we move into our comparison from the season 22 to season 23 tier list well note that there are two main reasons for a lot of the movement we see on the list first the loss of the season 22 theme the extra cube slot some classes and some builds benefited far more from this than others did so for some builds losing the cube slot could drop them down an entire tier for instance the other factor is the follower revamp that came with season 23 some builds will be able to benefit more from the follower than others so let's dive into the season 23 tier list starting as always with the f tier f as in few builds remain here and that's good because it means more builds are more powerful after your builds are more than 20 greater rifts behind the s tier still viable but significantly behind so the first thing that you'll notice is that the two wizard builds firebirds and talrasha meteor are gone from the f tier this is a cinderella story for firebirds which saw a complete rework this season and rose up in power escaping the f tier and for telrasha meteor well we're just removing it from this list entirely because it turns out there's a better meteor build and also a better tall russia build so the only reason to run teleracia meteor is if you want the worst of both worlds next you'll note that the necromancer's tragel's lancer build has dropped to f-tier from d-tier this is due to the loss of the fourth cube slot which necromancers overall benefited tremendously from necromancers all around are taking a hit this season because they're the class that universally benefited the most from the fourth cube slot and that takes us to the d tier d as in damn that's a lot of red arrows these builds are up to 20 gr's behind s-tier builds as a reminder a red arrow means a build has dropped a tier a star means a build is new to the tier list and the little sack indicates that the build uses a set that is part of the season's heydrich's gift so the bill that's new to the list is the wizards legacy of dreams meteor build if you want to run meteor legacy of dreams is the more robust way to do so than talrasha no set specifically buffs meteor so legacy of dreams affords you the flexibility of gear slots to build up a variety of buffs that outweigh overall the tall rasha bonus next you'll see three necromancer builds dropping from c into d tier the pestilence set the legacy of dreams mage build and the legacy of dreams poison lancer in all three cases these are casualties of the loss of that extra cube slot you'll also see the monks uliana in a build dropping to d-tier this was a build that benefited from an extra weapon in the cube slot the flow of eternity and is thus losing a damage multiplier for season 23. that takes us to the sea tier c as in season start sets can be found all over the place in here c tier builds are up to 15 greater rifts behind s tier new to the tier list is the witch doctor's legacy of dreams spirit barrage build the build itself isn't new it's been around for a long time but when the mundunugu set was introduced to the game that set was flat out far superior it was just a better version of lod spirit barrage now nugu still remains superior to this build but with mundane getting a nerf this season the power gap is closing and we knew some witch doctor players may be interested in trying out the og spirit barrage build since it's still a strong build in its own right and now with the specific leaderboards for every set or non-set players actually have a chance to top a leaderboard with this build another build new to the tier list is the wizards tolraja frozen or build this is the build you want to run if you want to top the tall rasha leaderboards but it's not the most powerful frozen ore build and the final new build is the rothma bone spirit build rothma received a total rework this season and the rothman build on the season 22 tier list the rothman mage build doesn't even exist anymore put simply rothman went from being a skeletal mage build to an army of the dead and bone spirit build you can choose to either focus on bone spirit or army of the dead as your main damage source if you pick bone spirit you'll land in the sea tier as a pure focus on army of the dead is the more powerful option we also see the necromancer's legacy of dreams death nova build drop a tier due to the loss of the fourth cube slot and thus the huge damage multiplier of near's black death the crusader's akan condemn build drops a tier because it can no longer work in the two-piece norvald set and it's huge damage multiplier the legacy of dreams wave of light monk drops because it's losing the flying dragon damage multiplier and the uliana exploding palm monk is dropping a tier because it could no longer work in the shenlong set the unhallowed essence hungering arrow build drops two massive tears because of collateral damage the gears of the dreadlands demon hunter was massively powerful and in order to nerf it the devs nerfed the 9th series satchel off hand by putting a cap on the number of times hungering arrow can pierce this has almost no effect in low greater rifts but a huge negative effect at very high greater rifts where players relied on huge amounts of piercing couple that with the loss of the damage multiplier of odyssey's end from the fourth cube slot and you've got a two tier drop for this build now for some good news the marauder cluster bombs build is rising from the top of the d-tier into c-tier this build benefited very little from the fourth cube slot and thus the benefit of the follower revamp supersedes the loss of the fourth cube slot for a net power increase to marauders and the same can be said for arakir firebats which was on the cusp of sea tier and now squeezed its way in this season and that takes us to the b tier b as in best a demon hunter player can hope for in season 23. b tier builds are up to 10 greater rifts behind the s tier while it's not great news for demon hunters let's talk about the positive first the shadow impale build rises a tier because it was already close to the top of c tier and barely benefited from the fourth cube slot so the follower buffs squeeze it up into b tier similar story for the crusaders legacy of dreams condemn build the follower is stronger than the fourth cube slot for this build for the crusaders blessed hammer build the follower rework allows us to pick the enchantress and benefit from her extra cool down reduction which allows us to drop the obsidian ring of the zodiac from this build and pick up a convention of elements for more damage and thus we rise a tier for the monk in a tempest rush is new to the list it's not a new build but there previously was no reason to run this build because there are multiple better tempest rush builds however this is the best in a build you can run so if you want to top the inner leaderboards this is the build you'll want to pick the crusader's roland sweep build has to now drop the narwhal set and it's huge damage multiplier so it drops down into beetier the inarius poison scythe necro drops a tear due to the loss of a damage multiplier weapon and wizards face a similar problem to necros although in the wizards case it's because of one single item the death wish and its massive damage multiplier losing the fourth cube slot and thus the death wish drops typhon hydra and dmo frozen orb one tier and dmo twister two entire tiers but the rework to firebirds results in the emergence of a new build firebirds flame blades like a phoenix rising from the ashes of f-tier firebirds is so much better than it used to be but this isn't even its final form there is a better variant to firebirds that we have yet to cover and now that takes us into our top 10 builds of season 23 and coming in at number 10 we have the gears of the dreadlands demon hunter this build and the entire demon hunter class as a consequence has seen a huge fall from grace with respect to solo gr pushing because of the aforementioned nerf to the 9th series satchel however alongside the nerf to the satchel the 6-piece bonus of this set received a 50 damage buff going from a 10 000 damage bonus to a 15 000 damage bonus now it should be stressed that the nerf to the 9th series satchel is really only felt at higher grs and the buff to the 6 piece bonus actually makes this set even more powerful for speedruns and it was already basically the best build for speedruns so even despite this drop to b tier the god demon hunter still deserves a spot on the top 10 list and is still the best all-around build for demon hunters it is likely though that by the end of season natalya rapid fire will surpass god at the highest levels of play but it requires an incredible amount of paragon levels to achieve that level and it's very squishy the average player is better served doing god than natalia's and that takes us to the a tier a as in absolutely strong builds while these are not technically the absolute best there are only a handful of builds left in s tier this season and most classes don't even have an s to your build that doesn't mean the other classes are rubbish a tier builds are still very strong and worth playing a tier builds are up to five greater rifts behind s-tier here we see the wizard's legacy of dreams hydra dropped from the s-tier due to the loss of the death wish we see the necromancers lod poison scythe and lod corpse explosion drop due to the loss of a damage multiplier weapon the monks patterns of justice tempest rush drops because it can no longer work in shenlong's set the veer chan toto wizard rises because it did not benefit much from the fourth hub slot and the improved enchantress follower and her cooldown reduction tremendously helps archon and reverse archon builds the legacy of dreams bombardment build is new to this list though it's not a new build when it comes to bombardment for crusaders there is a stronger build but now that we have separate leaderboards for every set or non-set this is likely to be the build that tops the crusader non-set leaderboard and now this takes us to number 9 on our top 10 list the frenzy barbarian the frenzy barb is rising a tier because it's a special case that benefits tremendously from the follower changes you see the frenzy set doubles the effectiveness of shouts and our followers benefit from shouts this allows us to make our followers really tanky without having to rely on the token that renders the follower invulnerable a well-geared follower should be able to survive even at greater rift 140 thanks to frenzy shouts because of this you can pick one of the other follower tokens and thus benefit from those power increases that takes us to number eight the moondanugu witch doctor the mundanugu set drops from ester mostly due to the nerf that this build received via the gazing demise offhand however it remains the most powerful witchdoctor build in the game on to number seven the sunwuko tempest rush monk the patterns of justice tempest rushmonk dropped a tier and the legacy of dreams tempest rush monk is now new to this list giving us a total of four different tempest rush monk variants now inna's is the weakest lod tempest rush is the best lod monk built to top the lod monk leaderboards and sunwuko is now the strongest and easiest to play version of the build onto number six the whirlwind barbarian tried tested and true and the starting set for barbarians in season 23 and the best starting set across all classes for season 23 the whirlwind barb is still the strongest barbarian build for basically everything solo pushing t16 bounties solo speed greater rifts it's it's just good and that takes us to number five the firebirds mirror image wizard this is the best version of the new reworked firebird wizard unlike most sets that revolve around buffing the damage of certain skills the firebird's mechanics revolves around dealing a bunch of fire damage whenever you hit with a fire attack so the more often you hit with a fire attack of any kind the more often you deal a big glob of damage so as it turns out when you summon a bunch of mirror images and they're all attacking alongside you that's a lot of hits and thus a lot of damage that takes us into the s tier s as in survivors of the great s-tier exodus yes we went from 12 s-tier builds in season 22 to only four in season 23. these are the most powerful builds in the game remaining in ester even after losing the fourth cube slot so coming in at number four we have the legacy of dreams twister wizard despite losing the death wish this build remains very powerful and the most powerful wizard build if you can play it properly its mechanics gearing and skill sequence are all very complex but this is bound to top the wizards legacy of dreams leaderboard and barring an upset from firebirds the overall wizard leaderboard as well on to number three the bone spear necromancer even with the loss of the fourth cube slot the bone spear necro remains such an all-around powerful build that it earns its spot as the best necro build for season 23 that takes us to number two the ocon bombardment crusader this powerful build barely benefited from the fourth cube slot so it only becomes stronger in season 23 thanks to the follower at lower paragon this is the most powerful crusader build but it is surpassed by our number one build at higher paragon this will be the second most powerful solo pushing build of season 23 and lastly coming in at number one we have the crusaders aegis of valor heaven's fury build at lower paragon this build has to sacrifice a lot of damage to stay alive but once your paragon is high enough this build really shines and that covers our top 10 and our tier list but we will make a quick note here that this is based on the current patch notes last season blizzard pulled a quick one on us and when the patch actually went live there was an undocumented change that messed with things a little bit so maybe we're in for another surprise we don't know but do be sure to check out maxwell.gg for the most up-to-date tier list because i can't edit my video but we can edit the tier list on the website now before we close let's quickly go over which classes have the best start in season 23 which is set to begin on april 2nd now the demon hunter gets the unhallowed essence set for pushing purposes this isn't great but for early season farming putting together a multi-shot demon hunter can serve you well enough you will however want to move on to the god demon hunter which is just better in every way necromancers get the rothma set this season while it won't be the most powerful necro build rothma is new and shiny this season and it will be a good idea for necromancers to try out the new build so having a be the starter set is a great way to give it a whirl as a stepping stone onto better builds or who knows maybe you'll fall in love with the playstyle and just try to compete on the rothma leaderboards crusader gets the role on set this season which is mediocre all around the monk gets the raymond set which is a pretty bad starter set there was a time when this was the best pushing build for monk but now it's severely outclassed by so many other builds and has no solid speed running setup so because of this i'll say the monk gets the worst starter set this season which doctor gets the hell tooth set which is terrible by itself a bit better when running zombie bears unlike raymond this actually has a farming variant to it so this gives witch doctors a bit of a better start than monk but not by much the wizard gets a tall rasha set to start with not great but you can start off with a talrash of frozen ore build and then transition into the much more powerful lod frozen orb build which is robust for both pushing and speed content and you can keep some of the same gear so because of this conservation of your effort wizards don't have the worst start for the season the barbarian gets the wrath of the waste set as we said earlier that's just the ultimate barbarian build for everything you need because of that barbarians get the I have a question. I am using Maurauder on Demon Hunter with an ability to spawn 4 sentries. It pretty much gives me 12,000% x 4 damage on each primary kill, right?

What Haedrig's Gift is everyone taking this go-round? They all seem lousy except for the WW Barbs. I am thinking of taking the UE MS set to help jump-start farming earlier in the season.

I am playing on console and torn between WW Barb and Bombardment Crusader. Is Bombardment easy or hard to play on console? I assume WW Barb is a cakewalk on any platform.

I played a Masquerade Necro this season, and while it was fun, targeting elites for Bone Spears is difficult on console so the set proved a little frustrating in higher GRs.

Firebirds was nerfed too much, hope they revert 4piecce bonus. But Rathma aotd needs another bigger bump up too by blizz. Rathma bone spirit gameplay is too similar to corpse lance in the way that you just wait for lotd then spam your elite killing move (corpse lance/bone spirit), so not sad to see that go. Aotd build is at least new and different gameplay.

Calling it now: they're finally going to start balancing around their 130 @ 5k paragon goal. It was on the back burner so long because they knew leaderboard filters were coming. After this season/era, it will be way easier to see what needs to happen, since there will be a reason to push every set to the limits.

I think "A-tier for all" is the end-game.
