hey this is Jason from the Re Max Mobility team I've got uh another little tip here as I'm working around the house I just uh recently renovated a house about two years ago and I had perked uh three of these American Standard Champion 4 toilets and now I'm getting Phantom flushes okay turn the water off first we're gonna give her a flush okay so now I'm going to take off this here there we go so that just comes off now everyone else they have a little black piece right here on the tip this is all one plastic die cast and uh I did take my other toilet part prior to this video um it doesn't come apart so with this part here there is uh another piece underneath and I found it rather difficult to get this apart um it takes two hands but with this hand here I had to put a glove on to get a an actual good grip underneath and then you'll see an arrow oh there it is right there so there's an arrow here saying which way to twist you basically have to twist this and uh it doesn't come apart very easy but there's another gray piece that slides off and then that will allow you to get this silicone piece here off and you just give it a little stretch come over the edge and pull it off over top of the chain here okay so now I've got my glove on I gotta come underneath here because it's pretty hard to get a hold of it with the bare hands a little slippery and then with this hand I have to take and twist it a bit and then you should start to feel there we go you can see it turn a bit doesn't come off very easy at all right it's a real pain in the ass it's loose on one end foreign okay so I actually had to pause the video there have a have a moment for myself to relax uh so it did come apart with some wiggling and whatnot and you're left with the seal and then the bottom black part is down there just sort of sitting there okay so I'm just gonna put the camera down again and I'm going to pull this off just by sort of stretching it over like this okay and off it is so the problem here as you can see it's not quite sitting flat is it gets bubbles along the edge and it doesn't seal so there's one here you can see it what I'm going to do I'm going to take a razor blade pierce it and uh take the water out of the bubble so it sits flat again instead of buying a new one I'm going to see if that works here is an area of a bubble I don't know if you can see it on the camera it's right here I'm going to take my razor blade give a little poke you can see the water that came out with it right away so I have a feeling that water is getting drawn into some kind of cavity in here and that's what's giving it the bubbles so I'm just gonna squeeze all that out now it's flat again there's a lot of water in there and see how long this will last I'll go ahead and I'll check the rest of the gasket do the same thing and then I'm going to put it back together okay so as it turns out uh that was really the only spot it was a very big bubble I've got it back on so I stretched the back over got on there and uh I can see that the other piece is down there so it's a two-hand thing I'm going to put it down and basically do the reverse of what I did before uh put it snap it back together snapped it back together so it clicked right back in and I turned the water on and everything's looking good I don't hear any leaking what I will do is I will do some food coloring put it in the bowl here and see if anything is uh coming through over time but uh looks like it may have worked okay comment below if you have any suggestions or if you've tried this yourself
