hey guys what's up it's eric pacheco and you're watching union minded um hit the like subscribe button if you haven't done it already and uh purpose for this video is going to give you some interview tips i was looking through the comments on some of my other videos and i saw a lot of questions about if i had any advice for interviews when you're applying for the ibew apprenticeship program and you've passed the aptitude test portion and now you have your interview so here's what i got for you number one arrive early uh what happens when you arrive early there's a couple things that happen well number one if you're not early if you if you arrive on time you're late so you want to show up early secondly when you get there early it gets you gives you time to decompress from the drive from traffic or anything like that and it gives you a chance to settle your nerves in case you get the bubble guts you have a chance to use the bathroom and get yourself ready to go into a room where you'll have representatives from nika and you'll have representatives from ibew and that can be a little nerve racking so you're going to want to be able to decompress a little bit before you go in there number two come business ready uh what does that mean that means a fresh haircut your hair styled business attire you know a collared shirt and a tie or a dress and a blazer and uh be ready to go in there and look professional when you go in you know when you walk in you walk in with a humble confidence and make sure that you greet uh the interviewers smile um when you're being asked a question look into the eyes of the person that's asking you the question and listen intently so you know what it is that they're asking you um before you answer take a breath you know gather your thoughts don't answer too quickly but answer questions honestly and as clearly as you can and again eye contact is important you want to look into the eyes of the person that you're speaking to it shows confidence it builds connection there's a purpose to it look into their eyes give them the clear answer as honest as you can speak as clearly as you can and you'll do just fine to drive your points home use personal stories or anecdotes that clearly illustrate what it is you're trying to say and this will help you to make your points stand out a little bit and make them pop and then the last one and probably another very very important one is to remember that everybody that's interviewing you was once sitting where you're at you know it's it's a union and we all came up to the apprenticeship program so just keep that in mind when you're in there you know there isn't somebody in there that that hasn't been where you are so good luck i hope this helps keep in mind solidarity wins always and uh i hope to see you in the ibew in the future have a good one
