hey guys welcome to Deep Rock Galactic Survivor my name is excoundrel I'm going to doing some beginner tips and tricks with you I'm going to start getting straight into it with the first tip which is about the out of game upgrades so when you're are not playing you have these permanent upgrades that you can apply to your characters and there are a lot of upgrades to choose from you have things like damage you have things like reload speed movement speed Etc now there are some that are really good and some that I think are less good for instance reload speed uh it's not that worth upgrading because realistic one or two levels and you're going to get this reload speed and plus for the most part if you're looking to overclock your weapons when you're looking at damage and reload speed you can apply individual damage and reload speed to weapons that is far greater in numerical value so if you want to concentrate on any one particular set of uh upgrades I would be looking at the following luck having a base level of luck means you are on your first few level UPS much more likely to get a higher Rarity upgrade which can help boost your run very quickly first aid kit which is life generation unless you've got artifacts you actually don't get access to life regeneration through level UPS so it's a really nice uh one to focus on as is Max HP and uh armor even though you can find them they're not always going to be a priority early on so having a baseline level of extra Max HP and armor is nice as well as having some experience gain for the early game too so if I were to focus on any in particular it would be movement speed armor luck experience gain uh Max HP and first aid kit um but obviously my two priorities if I were doing this again because obviously I've played this game and didn't really think about this the first time I was doing it I just saw oh shiny arrow and clicked the shiny Arrow but if I'm going to spend credits and maybe invest resources to do this properly I would probably spend time on luck and first aid kit and then go for things like movement speed armor and also Max HP as well as also XP gain everything outside of that especially the combat stats not massively massively necessary because you're going to find them as you upgrade your levels and you'll get values that are usually quite a lot higher than some of the um the levels that you can get here here so yes that would be my first tip in terms of what to go for out of game when looking to upgrade it's also worth noting that certain biomes also seem to and I'm saying seem to because I can't find the information anywhere confirming this uh but it's just based on gameplay experience certain biomes seem to have an abundance of these particular um precious resources so for instance Hollow B tends to have a massive amount of these I can't remember what they're called the round ball things it tends to have a massive abundance of those particular resources where a little bit less of the the magnite or some of the other types of resources so it's just worth noting that if you're struggling to find a particular resource it might just be that you're not playing in the right biome to collect it uh for instance when I played my last Hazard 3 run uh in the um Hollow bow run I ended up finding an absolute ton of these uh round what the hell are they called the round resources I think they called Moonstone or something I don't know something like that uh anyway I found loads of those uh and so yeah it's just worth noting that each particular biome tends to have an abundance of a certain type of that resource so you will need to play across all the biomes in order to gather the resources necessary to upgrade properly the first tip in game that I'm going to give you is something that most of you have probably been aware of but it is generally The Meta strategy uh dealing with uh the large hordes of enemies that you're going to face ultimately you'll find that a lot of the enemies soak a lot of damage they really do they are hard to take down without the support of those exploding bugs so what we tend to do is we tend to group them up in a massive area and we allow the exploding bugs to do the majority of the work for us uh something that you may not know about these exploding bugs is you don't necessarily need to attack them to get to them to explode uh you can actually just get them to explode by walking close to them so that's something to be aware aware of that you can just walk close to them when they're in a big grouped up area and they can do the majority of the work clearing out large hordes of enemies for you next little tip is going to be involving the supply drop drop pod that comes down many of you may not be aware but using the supply zone drop pod can actually oneshot the elite on a map if you drop it right on top of their head can actually be used to essentially blow up the elite in a map and form a very easy win for you at the end of the level I used the drop pod right here to blow up the elite and then I'll be able to walk straight towards the exit as long as I've completed all the the majority of my objectives and that then comes to my next tip you don't need to kill the elite straight away you don't lose the level by extending your time and just baiting out and waiting the enemies just get a bit harder but if you have still have some objectives to complete you don't necessarily need to rush the elite down you can go and mine some extra Gold Mine some extra Nitra try and complete your side objective next I have a couple tips about leveling up and choosing your upgrades first of which is the game actually is really annoying and makes you level up a weapon to level 12 before you can actually get the overdrive ability which is kind of the interesting part about the weapon so if you have a new weapon I would thoroughly recommend that on any run even if it's a throwaway run you just try and focus on taking the upgrades that are adding levels to that particular weapon you do really want to get a weapon to level 12 because again the overdrives are the really interesting part about those weapons specifically but on top of that the annoying part about it is you can't actually upgrade or get the overdrive in a level if you do get a weapon to level 12 you have to then do it on the next run that you have access to that weapon which is why when you get access to a new weapon I would recommend that you take any and all upgrades that you can for it even if they are common this is the big big tip don't be afraid to take gray common level upgrades if they're adding a level to your weapon especially if you looking to just get get the uh over clocked ability on it and that is then bringing me to my next tip about when you actually have those weapons you're going to be offered either weapon specific upgrades or you're going to be offered generalist upgrades my recommendation would be that you try to take weapon specific upgrades for the most part the overdrive abilities are often quite gamechanging or add a significant amount of value to the weapon that you're running so trying to go for overdrives on your weapons is actually quite a nice thing to do uh the general upgrades can be nice later into the game but you're often going to get way more value going for specific weapon upgrades as they have higher stat values and also push you towards those specific overd drives so that is something that's also worth noting when it comes to taking level up upgrades next tip I have is about beating the dreadn which is the final boss on pretty much every level uh and actually a lot of people say oh well you need movement speed to be able to do the dread knot that's not true The Dread L has one move it's very easy to dodge and actually makes the entire boss rather trivial the the a dread knot will jump at you there are two ways that you can avoid it run to the side or kind of run under it in the middle of the jump my favorite is running to the side as soon as it gets into that leap position you just walk to the side and it will completely miss you it makes the dread knot honestly laughably easy and much more of a time consuming meat s um bullet sink rather than anything else it is very easy to deal with my next tip would be just trying to focus on upgrading and unlocking the weapons as quickly as possible uh don't worry and don't get too bogged down about doing all the specific little missions uh you just want to try and unlock the weapons wherever you can and then try and get their overclocks unlocks as quickly as possible too you'll notice that on some levels you need to get the weapons to their absolute max level and that really does take you all four levels to do that most of the time you can get quite lucky and find a couple of like uh paint job upgrades just basically double the or even triple the amount of levels that you get but you don't actually get any sort of stat bonuses for doing so but most most of the time I find that I'm hitting the level 18 version of a weapon on the third or fourth Mission deep so just be aware that the level 18s are quite hard to do and you should try and focus on doing those when you've actually managed to unlock weapons and get your classes as far as they can go so definitely try and focus on unlocking weapons and unlocking overclocks as quickly as possible because it will increase the variety that you're seeing in game and also get you access to better builds for higher level hazards But ultimately my fin tip and it's not really a tip it's just more of some advice is please just enjoy the game don't get obsessed with trying to find top tier builds because that will kind of ruin your enjoyment and you know admittedly I'm going to be creating videos where I'm going to be saying is this a top tier build uh and yes okay I think it's nice to have some inspiration for builds especially if you don't know where you're going or what you're doing but I really want you guys to go and just enjoy the game at your own pace discover things on your own and try and have the best of your ability cuz I I actually have found that I have started to enjoy games less and less the more that I've tried to minmax them uh I think some of you guys might know what I'm talking about but frankly I have minmaxed a lot of games and it has kind of ruined the discovery part of my enjoyment of the games so if I'm going to leave you with anything as a new player to Deep Rock Galactic is please just go and enjoy it in your own time and discover things the way you want to discover them yes if you like to go and look up builds and get some inspiration please do so in fact I'd love it if you subscribe to my channel and watch me do some playthroughs uh but otherwise I just want you guys to go and enjoy yourself and make sure that you're not getting bogged down with having to play top tier builds because there's a lot of stuff that is viable in this game especially at the lower Hazard levels which are just as enjoyable anyway so I hope you guys have had a nice time and feel free to uh subscribe to the channel if you enjoyed this and I'll be doing some more playthroughs Got Deep I was going to say something really awful there I was going to say deep c k Galactic thank God I didn't
