hermanos buenos dias que bueno gusto vero Heather mañana por que somos bilingue esta mañana masala espanol family policy first cause speaking in tongues well we had a great great message this morning and just thank Chris so much for sharing that powerful powerful truth we the mission last night you know we feel like we're partaking of a great Mexican meal you know where you have the chips inside so and then the main dish and then followed by by the dessert well we had we're giving this morning chips and salsa Chris and I and then this afternoon as the main meals I want you to come back for the filet mignon and a lobster tail okay this afternoon after lunch well again have a great great time it's been a delight for me to be hearin in the city and be a part of this conference thank you so much for the invitation to join together and share oh just it's always great to be among God's men and to be involved in sharing and encouraging one another being a father her husband is difficult too difficult task very enjoyable or enjoyable but a difficult task being a Christian man is also difficult but it's also challenged but can also be very very enjoyable so it's great for us to be here and getting our lives sharpened encouraged becoming better husband's better fathers that are Christians and just being better servants of God so thank you for the invitation as a our text this morning will be second Timothy chapter 3 of you know we have almost a second Timothy chapter 3 looking at an extended portion of Scripture here starting at verse 14 going through chapter 4 and verse verse 4 that will be our text just by way of introduction to our session came across an article here that I want to share with you by way of introduction itself this fellow has been examined for what nation he wants to be a pastor or please from the from the hill country so he's been examined by this committee and they asked him so do you want to be a pastor really says yeah I'd like to very much be involved in ministry do you um how well do you know your Bible he says well I know my Bible pretty well why I've read it from cover to cover and I think I know my Bible pretty well from Lidl in and so they asked him what's your what do you like best about the Bible he says I like to me the parables of Jesus are among the best isn't instance of what show which parable do you like the best he goes I like the parable of the Good Samaritan so well you can you um can you tell us the parable of the Good Samaritan he was yes sir to go something like this there was this this man that was going from Jerusalem to Jericho and he fell among thorns and the thorns sprung up and they choked him and as he went on he didn't have no money say I met the Queen of Sheba and she gave him a thousand talents of gold and a hundred changes of raiment and he got into a chariot and he drove furiously and when he was driving under a big juniper tree his hair got caught on the limb of that tree and he hung there for many days and the Ravens brought him food to eat and water to drink and he ate five thousand loaves of bread and two fish and one night one act when he was hanging there his wife Delilah come along and cut off his hair and he dropped and he fell on stony ground but he got up and he went on and it began to rain and it rained forty days and forty nights and hid himself in a cave and he lived on locusts and wild honey then he went on till he met a servant who said come except at my house he made excuse and he said I won't I've married a wife and I can't but the Raven went out the sermon went out on the highways and the hedges compelled him to come in and after supper he went on and came down to Jericho and when he got there he looked up any saw that old Queen Jezebel sitting way down high up on a window and she laughed at him and he says throw her down and they threw her down and he said throw it on again and they threw her down 70 times seven and if the fragments that remained that picked up twelve baskets full besides women and children and they said blessed are the peacemakers now whose wife do you think she'll be at the Judgment Day I'm glad you're laughing because when I read that to our church in 1972 nobody laughed nobody laughed that was what to do it you know if I almost had to quit halfway through that story to know the scriptures men need to know truth many to know truth and we are living in some very difficult times here in America today tough times our text our text let verse 14 follow along with me at second Timothy 3:14 and you however continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of knowing from whom you have learned them and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus all Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching for reproof for correction for training in righteousness so that the man of God may be adequate equipped for every good work I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus was to judge the living and the dead and by his appearing and his kingdom preach the word be ready in season and out of season reprove rebuke exhort with great patience and instruction for the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine but wanting to have their ears tickled that will accumulate for themselves teachers in a court to their own desires and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths if possible here is warning warning Timothy and the church about becoming apostasy a time when when when when professing the professing Church will turn aside from the truth and alterna side two myths love in apostasy from the truth this is the theme the Apostle has pursued in first Timothy chapter 4 you recall in the fourth chapter of 1st Timothy that he he he encouraged reminded Timothy he says but the Spirit explicitly says that in the later times some will fall away from the faith paying attention to deceitful spirits and to doctrines of demons he mentioned a an apostasy they fallen away in 2nd Timothy chapter 3 and verse 1 recall that his sister realized this then in the last days difficult times will come men will be lovers of self lovers of money boastful arrogant revilers disobedient to parents ungrateful unholy unloving irreconcilable malicious gossips without self-control brutal haters of good treacherous reckless conceited lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God holding to a form of godliness although they denied his power avoid such men as these these are apostates apostasy we are living in days of apostasy in America to find out at fine churches that open the Word of God and preach the Word of God and believe the Word of God that is a rare rare occasion tade today we have great denominations falling apart fall apart because they have a pasta size from the truth and so we gentlemen live in difficult times the church's apostate the church is awesome great decline great decline few researchers came out last week with a with a research in America and Christianity and the evangelical church is declining numbers and declining and attendance we are the average that the average evangelical doesn't come to church the way used to come to church and so we are closing churches all across America thousands of churches closed their doors every single year because there's no one no one attends anymore pastors give up and they quit and so the sense where the men who are the pillars of the church are no longer concerned no longer care for ministry not only we are in deeds of apostasy and these are decline but we also have the the the danger of what I call the feminized Church we're now it's it's women that are run in the churches women that are the ones that are the movers and shakers in our assemblies and the men are absent absent to have have conferences like this is a rare specimen for many churches you can't even find enough men to form a board to govern a church the average every Church out there so we have some issues have some issues here and so this morning I thought I'd encourage us all of us as men and then it's that in view of the apostasy of our church's view note the fact that we're declining and closing our doors and the view the fact that our women are the ones that are basically holding many churches alive by a thread I would like to exhort us all to men up to the church amen or not if you put your pants on in a man up and be the men of God we need to be in our churches I'll do that in two ways this morning I'll do the first of all by exhorting us to man up to sound doctrine just to man up to sound doctrine I know that brother Chris has been beatin that drum the last two sessions and I'd like to continue taking that drum and beating it and just encouraging us to be men of sound doctrine and then secondly for us to man up to our manly duties not only earth doctrine but also the duties that God has given us in his word encourage us to men up to sound doctrine so Paul is emphasizing to Timothy it's an amazing in exhortation here that he gives Timothy preached the word Timothy of giving you sound doctrine the the fall in a way will not be simply from from from from the Bible that many folks use the Bible it's from sound doctrine it's from the sound duck it's from the stuff that really matters in the text not just giving a not just a form of religion with no power behind it but actually the sound doctrine that God would want us to have it so we need to man up man up to sound doctrine that implies the following first of all to know it to know sound doctrine to be men men of the word to be meant to be a man of the book and so this is what the Apostle Paul is saying listen Timothy some are going to fall away many will fall away from from sound doctrine that that doctrine that by its very nature is is healthy it's that it's that doctrine that not only saves but also sanctifies it's the sound doctrine that is designed to save your soul from Hell and bring you to a living relationship with God it's a doctrine that is able to take your life and sanctify it that you might be everything that God intended for you to be in every dimension of life not just in in parenting in the husband and etc but in every dimension of life that you would be everything that God would want you to be that is what sound doctrine is what's amazing about the past roles which is 1st and 2nd Timothy and Titus is it is that it Paul takes that word sound doctrine and explains it to us what it is he goes and he identifies what is what is exactly sound doctrine for example in this in this context when he says they will fall away from the truth the whole issue of sound doctrine is the is the doctrine that he's talking about here would brings us back to the context of chapter 3 all scripture verse 16 all Scripture is phaeton useless is inspired by god breathed out by God he says to Timothy listen Timothy you were nourished who you you were nourished in the sacred writings which were able to give you the the knowledge that leads to salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ now obviously Paul was referring to the inspired Old Testament the sacred writings it is possible that when he says all scripture referring to the revealed Word of God as he gave it to to the Jewish nation the Old Testament it's it may include all of the writings that we have though that that they had at hand at that time but even if just limited to the Old Testament he says every single word from from Genesis to Malachi every single jot and tittle there is all inspired of God it's all inspired of God as well apostasy begins by denying the inspiration and authority of the Old Testament you call it just you know just fables I have a have a Roman Catholic Bible in my library and the notes in Genesis the notes the study notes in Genesis tell explain that Genesis one two and three are all mythology stories that friends is apostasy it is apostasy Jesus says that every jot and tittle in the text will be fulfilled it's all it's all inspired so when you and I think about sound doctrine you know some doctrine we're looking at every every word found in the Old Testament it's all inspired of God it is all God God breathed gonna go to a chapter 6 at first Timothy follow with me now go to chapter 6 of 1st Timothy Paul says in chapter 6 explain it to what is sound doctrine in a chapter 3 chapter 6 verse 3 if anyone advocates a different doctrine a heresy is the word there and does not agree with sound words song words ie those of our what talk to me now those of our Lord Jesus Christ in other words all the words of Christ are sound doctrine he says everything I uh I happened to have what they call a red letter edition of the text I uh it says everything in red is sound doctrine everything that Jesus spoke is sound doctrine we have a little game today played by preachers and theologians we like to rope a dopants in and hop scotch through through the through that through the words of Christ we kind of pick and choose this whole debate about about gender and the gay movement friend that is not even that's not even worthy of discussion our Lord just Jesus Christ in Matthew 19 gave us the most the most complete explanation of marriage and gender found anyplace in scripture when the ask concerning is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife okay is divorce permissible with God's people what's the answer what's the answer what at what a timid timid response the answer is what no haven't you read haven't you read that he then made them in the beginning made them what male and female that ends the discussion that is the discussion is it a he or is it a she they know ain't no discussion they're people and we have wackos in the Supreme Court now trying to discuss this side is there he is there a something in between there is no in between my granddaughter brought her dog to the house in the day and I said I said honey what is it it's all grandpa and she turned the dog over looked he says [Applause] our Lord Jesus Christ friend had a word on everything had a word on everything that has to do with life and when you and I when you and I take the words of Christ and then we nullify the friend that is apostasy I don't care how long the alpha-beta is after your name it is apostasy and so that's why Paul says the word of Christ is doctrine go to chapter 2 of say chapter 1 of 2nd Timothy chapter 1 of 2nd Timothy he says in chapter 1 verse 13 retain the standard of sound words of sound words chapter 1 verse 13 of 2nd Timothy retain the standard of sound words which you have heard from where talk to me now from me Paul is saying here the words that I spoke to you Timothy are inspired these are sound words the words of the Apostle Paul all the epistles are sound words they are the very word of God and again we have this little game that people play with the words of Paul the Apostle Paul that somehow somehow he was not his his his act was not altogether that you can pick and choose what is true and what is not true and we don't have that option people we don't have that's not an option for us whether you're a man or a preacher we don't have an option all the words said the Apostles wrote to us they are the very inspired Word of God water right into the second Peter the Apostle Peter writing it says listen the Apostle Paul they're all scripture you distort him like you distort all the rest of Scripture they are the very word of God it was President Obama who wanted to speak as a president who said well the Apostle Paul when he wrote Romans chapter 1 he he wasn't really all together no mr. Obama you are not all together he was very together you're out of office and your name will be forgotten someday but the Word of God will abide forever yes oh you see that and so you follow me follow me to chapter 6 chapter 6 of first Timothy once again in chapter 6 verse 3 where he says if anyone advocates a different doctrine and not those that agree with sound words sound doctrine those of our Lord Jesus Christ and with a doctrine conforming to what to godliness to godliness that is sound doctrine always promotes godliness the result of sound doctrine is always going to be godliness it's always going to be that that's why in Chapter 1 go to first Timothy chapter 1 when the Apostle goes in starts and gives a discussion of what is really the law of God what is what is what is sound doctrine and then he goes from chapter 1 verses 8 and following to identify though that which is not sound doctrine those that are lawless and rebellious the ungodly the sinners the unholy profane and those that kill their fathers and those have killed their mothers and those that are murderers for immoral men and homosexuals and perjurers and whatever else is contrary to what this son doctrine that is people say today well you don't want oh yeah you need to just talk about love just love one another why are you talking about all this stuff all these lifts well don't do this and don't do that we don't want this negative tack preaching we want justice positive stuff shut up haven't you read I mean the Big Ten No More the Big Ten not of Exodus are they positive are they negative talk to me now they're negative thou shalt not thou shalt not God got specifies got identifies we're in the habit of renaming sin and make it acceptable sound doctrine doesn't do that sound doctrine specifies and what it is and this is this is sound doctrine go to Titus chapter 2 Titus chapter 2 again and the Epistle specifies what is sound doctrine chapter 2 and verse 1 as for you Tim as for you Titus speak the things which are fitting for what for sound doctrine notice it begins the chapter in most bibles and what he goes on to talk about is a practical Christian life sound doctrine isn't just this this abstract theology it is not the after theology it is not just the ology proper or Christology or pneumatology or eschatology now some doctrine is also ecclesiology it has to do with the church and with our life and with us and so in chapter 2 of Titus he goes on expounds what is sound doctrine this is what we have to know people men of God this is what God has called us to do to be a student of the Word of God for you and I to study God's Word in to know God's Word and then to be engaged as serious Bible study to make sure that we are those you know our women our women are putting us to shame because they're the ones that buy all the books that of the bookseller sell they're the ones that are investing in in Bible studies what do we do what are we to spend our time watching watching the football games and baseball games and video games when we ought to be engaged in the game of life which is the study of God's Word so we need to know it we need to hold on to some doctrine and one thing for us to have the Word of God in our minds it's a different thing to have the Word of God in your heart we need to have the Word of God get control of our lives somebody said men hold opinions but convictions hold the man we need to move to the point where we are then held by the convictions of this book problem today all across all across our churches that we have all these men that are wishy-washy half in half thought boneless spinous kind of men they believe in nothing so what are you what do you believe well I believe the same thing Pastor John believes her friend what are you some wishy-washy half in a thought boldness man what do you believe what I believe the same thing that Chris believes that's Chris's he said what's what are your convictions what are you hold on to I don't know and I don't have an opinion friend you need to have an opinion you need to come to the point where you know what you believe and why you believe it and then you need to be involved in not only not only holding on to sound doctrine but also teaching sound doctrine that's a Paul tells Timothy here listen preach the word Timothy preach it your job is to be involved in making sure the people of God hear the word of God and so we need to teach need to teach sound doctrine problem today in our churches that we are we are just dumbing down our churches we just dump them down we have a churches filled of all this feel-good feel-good and I went to church today not I just came out more more depressed than when I went in why well because they told you the truth that's why you came out more depressed what I want to go someplace where they make me feel good or they or they they meet my needs or they help me and friend that's that's not the point and so we have all these churches now that are dumbing down and dumbing down and dumbing down just when you mentioned we're gonna preach on doctrine at all it's a like major turnoff just doctrine turns everybody off oh no no friend it should excite us it should excite us because now we are coming down to the to the truth of God you know in California Heights I mean to some pastors and after they don't they can't find enough men in the church to staff and every Sunday school class a sunny school program we have churches that have done away with Sunday school have done it with discipleship ministries all they have is they get together for a for a time of worship with a twenty three twenty minutes sermonette and forty minutes of music and coffee in the auditorium with donuts and and and Childress and then that's it they dismiss and you can't find enough men to staff a sunday-school class why is it because we haven't man up we have a man up to the fact that it's my job as a man of God to know the Word of God to hold on to the Word of God and to teach the Word of God now that challenge for us and sometimes sometimes pastors that were in the crowd we just give in to that and we just said well I guess we have to do away with it no we don't we have to man up man up and prepare our men to teach the very word of God to have discipleship ministries to have the man involved in teaching the Word of God it's up to them to do it it's not just up to the pastoral staff but it's for all of us as men that have pants on for us to be ones that are teaching the Word of God so know the Word of God hold on to the Word of God teach the Word of God and defend the Word of God and defend the Word of God and we had a beer you know you know there are there are poodles and there are pitbulls talk to me now there are what and then there are which one are you which one of you your little poodle [Music] interesting are you still in Titus or did you close your Bible and get mad chapter 1 at Titus chapter 1 verse 9 look at chapter 1 verse 9 he says to elders to those that are leaders holding the faithful word there it is sound doctrine faith holding the faithful word in accordance with the teaching the teaching so that he will be able both to exhort in what sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict in the book of Jude book of Jude it's a little epistle right before revelation book of Jude here the Judy says I began to write this room it's letter to you and just trying to be sugarcoat via the nice preacher and then something happened beloved while I was making every effort to write to you this is verse 3 now verse 3 I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered down to the Saints why because certain men have crept in unnoticed those who were long before marked out for this condemnation ungodly persons who turned the grace of God into licentiousness and deny our only master and Lord this provoked him beauties provoked you ever read Jude I mean it's like jalapeno juice everywhere it's like it's like burning I mean this guy is like stirred up he's like stirred up and and fellows gentlemen William we need to be those kinds of men that that defend the faith we honor there should be something in us that provoke us and we rise up to the occasion the way are those that are going to contend earnestly for the once for all delivered under the Saints faith that's what the word is there was the whole Council of God and there learn to defend the faith we can't be a whipped a little little poodle we need to be this pitbull this watchdog I belong to an association of churches called the IFC a International and we are we are noted for being the watchdogs of theology matter of fact even they've taken IFC a which stands for independent funneled miniatures of America and they given us the hell I fight Christians everywhere anywhere because we always engaged with somebody we're biting somebody you know what I'm saying we're chasing somebody out of the yard because there has to be a fight in us fighting us has to be the fact we're uh we're defending the faith we're engaging our culture our culture is like you know this this 10% leftist crowd this 10% of perverts are taking this nation and turning it upside down you know why because our men have become sissified because our men refused to put their pants down a bet pants on because yeah that one that one - that one - yeah yeah I think you're getting the message aren't you yeah you got to step up people you gotta step up we have like public libraries that ever have these these crossdressers teaching our children your children and you know buddy barks little poodle shows up you know poodle shows up who is he well some little waif some little senior citizen upset more than men they should be in there dragging that crossdresser out and stripping her or slipping him naked and setting them out oh you don't do that because there's no biting us there's no fighting us yeah a friend there has to be something like that we can't always be the nice guy just engage the culture confront expose and call to repentance Paul says in Ephesians 5 do not be involved in the unfruitful deeds of darkness but instead exposed them expose them tell it for what it is who they are that's part of our job and we need to and fellows learn to fight for the right stuff sometimes they get all zealous a pit bull instead of fighting the the robber and and the and the invader a biting the kids what are you doing that for you don't need to do that I just got through in our discussion in church we had some young man and the big debate was social drinking they go scandal about social drinking and don't Christians have a right to drink pastor and we have a right to have a an occasional Christian Brothers brandy can we have a little beer isn't that his god against that and that was a big debate fighting over that is that where you're at little funny stuff but that that alcohol Amissah is the seventh greatest killer of human beings on this planet and you're trying to justify that then more people are destroyed by by alcoholism than anything else in our culture and you're trying to fight for that and defend that Oh friend where are you when that's the big things it are we should be fighting against and an upholding sound doctrine and so we need to man up people we need to become men of this book men of the word we need to study it carefully and they get ourselves engaged in that in knowing that studying it developing convictions be involved in disciple in and teaching and you don't you don't need some formal authorization some guy came when once he said Patti but brother Chris came he said he said best I won't tell ya God called me to preach I said well good he said well when it when you're gonna give me a place a quintic point when you're gonna invite me your pulpit so I can preach I said yeah I said guy this is my pulpit find your own pulpit your got called you to preach get out there and preach let me sitting around sucking your thumb wait for me to die I'm praying for me to die same thing with you God called you to teach fun find some yo-yo and start teaching him out there get involved in teaching the Word of God and helping the Word of God to go out Amen or not and so man up man up and then man up secondly man up to manly duties manly duties I forgot when we end this session Oh help me somebody help me I can't even see the clock what clock when do I hand whenever I want it I like that one 10:30 okay I need a time because see Hispanics Hispanics we carry this around but we never look at that you know now you know that you know that yeah now let's see yeah you got to see us panic churches it's really a it's really a trip antwa churches you started nine everyone's there by 8:45 ready to go nine o'clock boom Hispanic churches we see nine o'clock ain't nobody there even the pastor's not even there they're so by nine oh five nine ten finding folks trickle in and then we just you know by 9:15 and then we're moving and then all of us in by the time 930 comes around now where they were preaching and then you preach away so you should end at 10:15 10:45 means nothing and they know it means nothing they just don't care they keep on going so they come in late you preach late you know what I'm saying one day I made the mistake i want i try to be Anglo you know start at 9:00 take an offering to 9:15 two dollars in the offering plate that would never hurt gonna follow me down we need to man up to man up to manly duties Titus Titus to remember that in Titus two I mentioned that sound doctrine sound doctrine is duty but as for you speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine what are you talking about I'm talking about this that older men are to be temperate dignified sensible sound in faith in love in perseverance older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior not malicious gossips nor enslaved too much wine teaching what is good so that they let me encourage the young women to love their husbands to love their children to be sensible pure workers at home kind being subject to their own husbands so that the Word of God will not be dishonored likewise urge the young man to be sensible in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds with purity in doctrine dignified sounding speech which is beyond reproach so that the opponent will be put to shame having nothing bad to say about us Earth's bond slaves and then etc sound doctrine is duty some doctrine is Duty people and this is the great great void that we have today in our in our our life in our teaching yes we focus on that which is up there and then what is down here is a total total disaster and so this is this is sound doctrine what a first Timothy three first Timothy three we sometimes forget what it says in chapter 3 of first Timothy and so he says in chapter 3 of first Timothy is in verse 14 3:14 a little parenthesis here Timothy force Timothy 3:14 I'm writing these things to you hoping to come to you before long but in case I am delay I write so that you will know how one ought to conduct himself in the household of God which is the Church of the Living God the pillar and support of the truth but common confession great as a mystery of godliness he was revealed in the flesh vindicated in the spirit seen by angels proclaimed among the nations believed on in the world taken up in glory Paul is saying what I'm writing to you Timothy this is sound doctrine this is how you need to conduct yourself and your church ought to conduct yourself this is this is this is ecclesiology this is pastoral theology that you need to teach to your people and we don't do that we don't do that we have this this superficial approach to the Word of God we don't look at it carefully we don't realize that what Paul has given us here is fine print the fine print of how the church should operate and and among us from from preacher to Pew this is the attitude we have to the to the to the scriptures we look at it and then we say well you know he really didn't mean that well you know it that really it's not the way it should be that you know the culture is not like that well you know he was in another dimension really that's not for us today that's like too legalistic and friend that major you know I'm from California in California we have stop signs and then we have stop signs you know what I'm saying and one day I was driving and I came to the stop sign and I stopped and then I took off again and then the behind look in the mirror and the red lights were on my man pulled me over he pulled me over pulled up tight and I said yes officer he says sir you didn't stop back there I say yes they did he said no you didn't I was right behind you you didn't stop you slowed down but you didn't stop I did stop no you didn't stop behind you see I pulled a California stop which means you don't stop it just kind of kind of lose it in and then you keep on going you know what I'm saying is and it says sto P what does it mean well I don't mean that means slow down means be careful but doesn't mean stop ma CA he wrote me up wrote me out how do I go to traffic school here I was in traffic school with two other members from our own church for right there as well friend God was God wrote this book so that you and I would look at it and obey it and Jenna what you have and I I'm simply gonna begin the process and you'll finish it in your own time this book is a man's book when God wrote the epistles of Timothy and Titus he had men in in mind and it wasn't just Timothy the preacher and Titus the church planner it wasn't just that there was men this is a man this is a man thing it's a man thing the problem with us is the way it we haven't looked at it we don't look at it from that perspective we don't see it as a good as God's work for us on how we ought to conduct ourselves in the Church of the Living God let me just let me just begin the process and hope you get the message just to man up man up in church in Chapter two Ben chapter 2 is where he begins the whole discussion chapter one was beware of false teachers chapter two first of all it says in chapter one - verse one first of all I urge that entreaties and prayers petitions and Thanksgivings be made on behalf of all men for kings and all who are an authority so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth there's only one God and one mediator also between God and men the man Christ Jesus who gave himself as a ransom for all the testimony given at the proper time for this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle I am telling the truth I am not lying as a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth therefore I want the what I want the what talk to me now the men in every place to pray lifting up holy hands without wrath and dissension gentlemen he's talking about worship here this is worship and it continues the worship in verse 9 likewise I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing modestly and it's discretely now with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly garments but rather by means of good works as is proper for women making a claim to godliness a woman must quietly receive instruction with the entire submissiveness I do not allow a woman to teach or SS authority over a man but to remain quiet it was Adam who was first created than he it was not Adam who was deceived but the woman being deceived fell into transgression but women will be pretty will be preserved to the bairn of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint Paul is saying listen gentlemen you need to you need to take the lead and worship that's what I'm talking to you you are to lift up holy hands without wrath and dissension holiness is demanded in worship godly living godly living with you me men that really live the Word of God in our daily lives and we've come to worship we bring holy lives to our worship so what it is it's a scandal and we live one way out there then we come to church we come to church and we come to church with a filthy life with no no change bring the same stuff out there holiness is what God demands of you demands of me holiness and we kind of lower the standard and lower the standard and we have one standard for women under the standard for men they come to our churches and we kind of we kind of pussyfoot around them and kind of wail here well you got to talk nice to this guy really if he's a professing believer he needs to be put in this place and holiness should be part of his life we ought to be those that are involved in leading our families in worship that's who we are you know I and and Chris this morning has nailed it nailed it and I felt like saying Amen park it there brother preach it because that's what it's about also in godly decorum and so he goes on this is decorum this is how people should behave in church it matters to God what does it matter to God what you do in church as long as you come together and you come to this place citizen matter just come as you are and and and and dress and order and structure none of that matters friend have you read your Bible you know what he's saying here that matters the quorum matters to God in the Old Testament he specified he specified to detail he doesn't in the New Testament except in certain occasions like here in 1st Corinthians chapter 11 12 13 and 14 he speaks about decorum see worship matters to God how you do things matter to God how you conduct yourself in public worship matters to God worship demands modesty and we don't have we don't know how we don't come to church dressed in such a way they prove that we provoke lusts promote distractions it matters it matters and we have gone to the point where we say it doesn't matter it matters Corinthians says it matters if a man wears a cap in church that matters it matters of a man has shorter long hair in his relationship with a spouse it matters all of that matters people this is the specifies it matters it matters this sensibility that you live in a sensible way the word sensible is used in in in in Titus to speak about older men older women younger men younger women all of them to live sensibly think about your life think about your worship are you there to glorify God are you there to promote worship are you there to just to distract they said about you or is it about God you see friends and I thought I mean should I talk about this it's in the text it's in the text and God God once there to be order kind of disorganized you can't have a mess as God is a God of he's not an author Oh God of confusion he's the God of fun and God doesn't say much about decorum ha what he does say it's in the text and we need to understand that need to understand that in regards to that and our churches they become like just circuses circuses sometimes the teaching is sound but the whole atmosphere is a big circus why because somehow we don't talk about the text we're not the men men that ought to be Lee taken the lead in this we guy and then not only not only in worship but also leadership this is this book Timothy is about leadership it's about leadership it says men it's your job to be leading in the home and we don't want to continue beating the drum but it's interesting that I have a I have a book on pastoral ministry I think you have it also it's about this thick written by the guy and he is such he is such an egalitarian an egalitarian that he says about Titus well Titus here when he talks about that a woman should be submissive to her husband Titus was polisena Titus Titus accomodate to the Greek culture accommodate yourself to the culture at hand where the man is dominant and the wife is submissive accommodate yourself and I set myself really and you're a teacher of the text and you have failed to realize Titus 2-1 that this is not an accommodation is instruction this is sound doctrine but the man is the head of his what home better of his home and so we have this whole debate over galatians 228 and no longer free and no longer slaves no longer gentile no longer Jew no longer a skift here no longer etc no longer of mail no longer email we're all equal and sewer take Galatians 3:28 and we just have like everyone's the same friend friend friend escalations interesting written before Ephesians written before Colossians written before first Peter 3 didn't get didn't Peter get the message talk to me now now and nullify the order in the home not afar we're equal but there's rules and there's headship and it's understand that and so we have these churches in California that promote this so one week the wife wears the pants he wears a miniskirt and the next week I know she wore a miniskirt he wears the pants so they just keep trading back and forth friend that's not that's not what God has called us to do you're to lead in the home you're to lead in the preaching ministry the pulpit is designed for men the Word of God is to be taught by men men teaching men men teaching families men teaching the church that's the job that's our responsibility and so here we are great debates in there in our churches for the pulpits now I was to having a discussion Chris without Doctor of Ministry students at the Masters seminary and he showed me this great quotation and there was a discussion about this guy brick and been in a walk with Christ in just a cultivating a walk with Christ so that so that he or she who's in ministry should have great power in the pulpit he or she but to read the text have you already given in given in it's in the text my friends the root the manly role of office and he goes to chapter three we don't have time today but chapter three for elder and Deacon that's manly that's manly is it not yeah and let me let me just get in your face cuz I'm gonna believe in another look in a little while I may never come back you know what I'm saying [Applause] and I don't care if you ever asked me back you know I'm saying but every man in this auditorium it ought to be your secret dream and desire to be an elder or to be a deacon that should be on the list of things you want to do the stuff you don't show anybody you don't show your wife you don't show you don't show your path you don't show anybody but it should be your desire to be an elder or to be a deacon to be that for the glory of God yes that's manly stuff we can't find men to fill an elder board we can't find men to be deacons and yet this is manly responsibility and so the gals take over a big excuse with Lady preachers as well you know montoya they don't want to do it they don't want to do it no friend that should never be our excuse Amen or not that should be we should be willing and so it is it's it's the man in the role it's a man you role for us to be involved in leadership to be that beat as some of you here young man you have a desire in your heart to be a preacher of the word of God you feel as someone you would like to be unchain from other stuff you're doing that you might be involved in the preaching of the gospel I say young man go for it that's the sir get on with it jump off into the deep well you know malaria I don't have a real sense of call well you know friend volunteer anyway you know what I'm saying you know God takes volunteers you know what I'm saying and get on with it yeah well you know because this is it you have this desire I'm a preacher of the word I I wouldn't know what to do if I wasn't a preacher I'm to the point now her in in in in a while I may have to retire and I'm dreading it can I wouldn't know what to do what is available free must sell drugs I mean you know what [Applause] and I that Colombians do that you know what I don't wanna be involved and so it is you know this is what it's all about he goes on in chapter 4 and chapter 5 to speak about other responsibilities in chapter 5 he talks about how we oughta leave the concern for the unfortunate but let me take you to chapter 5 chapter 5 verse 17 you're you're involved in oversight your job is to oversee the church the elder is Sewer rule welsh are to be considered worthy of double honor especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching for the scripture says you shall on muzzle the ox while he is threshing and the laborer worthy of his wages don't receive an accusation against an elder except on the basis of two or three witnesses those who continue in sin rebuke in the presence of all so that the rest also will be fearful of sinning he says I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of his chosen angels Jesus maintain these principles without bias do nothing in a spirit of partiality don't lay hands upon anyone too hastily and thereby share responsibility for the sins of others keep yourselves free from sin friend gentlemen it's our responsibility collectively to to oversee the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ the pillar and support of the truth it isn't just the pastor's job it isn't just the elder boards job it's every man's job it's every man's job whose job is it whose job is it I can't hear you there's every man's job it's your job in my job and so it's our job to provide for the teaching pastor instructions here is this in honor the office honor the office well we are so dumb down Pastor Chris we have some dumb down that we even from what what don't call me pastor call me Alex call me Alex yeah that's how that's how we've gotten and so we take the office and we just throw it down you know that that is I'm not saying you should call your pastor always pastor but there is a dignity that comes with that there's an honor that comes with that you follow me and so we need to understand that he says so these they worthy of double honor number one of who they are because of the position and then secondly take care of them make sure you pay them well pay their salaries and the rule of thumb gentleman is the pastor should be getting a salary equal to yours the combined effort of the combine of salaries of ten men divided by ten is the norm that should be the fastest salary figure that one out if you're not from this church and your church figure that one out it was getting twice that amount fire him not on that and then it's just protect your pastor it's your job as men of God to protect your pastor do not receive and receive an accusation against your pastor except on the basis of two or three listen it's your job to protect the pastor from others you should have his back every pastor should know that the men in his church have his back and a backbiting or backstabbing whoever practice in our church their talk was that bastard right sock was at pastor that means for lunch we have pastor for lunch criticizing him examine his life no friend it's not about him it's about us and his message you should have his back no pastor I'm gonna say this no pastor should ever quit because of discouragement or burnout you're your shepherd in the flock should never have to quit because of discouragement or because of burnout he resigned because he's a God so discouraged with a work or he resigned because he was just burnt out oh no it's your job to come alongside of him and help your pastor in anything that he needs you're there people to do that you're there to help him listen don't be some blood-sucking wimping man wrapped up in your own little petty problems no I'm gonna be that kind of man oh you're pastors there to help you yeah go to go for counseling be there call him have him instruct you and encourage you the once it's done that get back in the battle it's up to you to protect you no it's I just thank God for first fundamental Bible Church we have armed our church is a man's Church I don't do anything there anything I just show up and preach that's all I do I just I feel I feel I feel guilty not that much but I feel guilty huh and I preach away and I get I I Drive up and they got a parking I pick up the parking lot and walk out hostess give you some gives me two bulletins walk in they wire me up for sound they go into the front all the men do all the preliminaries I get up and preach and do whatever I need to do get off the pulpit preach - Terr to the people and the way out Tony gives me always a bottle of sixteen ounce bottle of water and and and then and then I in my wife and I greet people and then we leave and the men do everything everything well I was so who's closing don't worry faster we got it covered go that's it that's it to have my back they have my back do you have your pastor's back talk to me now or use a blood sucking wimp talk to me now and and in addition to that hold your pastor accountable but your job hold him accountable you start strained strained from the teaching hold them accountable now he started messing up hold them accountable hold on account of why you might have elder rule means nothing means you you are responsible to hold them accountable because that's what's what it's about you see this is it's a man's book it's a man's book talking of men so gentlemen I just want to encourage you listen belong to one some of you are not members of any church you're kind of floaters what you don't want oh yeah I just I'm a member of our churches shut up [Applause] so what are you a Republican or Democrat independent well you know pastor I I'm a Republican and our Democrat and I'm like I just don't vote well then go back to Mexico shut up you belong to one get involved in one attend regularly give regularly get involved in ministry be the leader get involved in leadership if they call upon you desire it be a man of God in the church and men of the church like you that can be depended upon be there be there no excuses no wimpy now in our preaching class at the Masters seminary was my job to teach preaching and I say you know fellow sin you called to preach preach your job is to show up and to preach there's no excuse for not showing up well you don't look there well my wife had a baby Saturday night well that's her excuse what's yours well you know what I well I got sick you know friend don't call in sick crawl in sick preach and then die you know what I'm saying but show up holies wimpy guys well you know my car broke called uber you know what I'm saying jump a guy steal his car but show up got all these wimpy excuses ya know when a lady in church luster huh lost her son on a Saturday night on Sunday when he shows up to do nursery care a woman where's the man well I couldn't go today because the Cardinals are playing really your worship team instead of worshiping God oh no friend no be be that kind of man oh man my time is up can I take another minute he's already gone he got mad and left yeah Oh Oh my dad was a man's man my dad was a man's man he was like man man all the way you know he wore khakis pleated pants never wore tennis shoes just a man he's a ex-boxer just big guns on him he's a man's man but he just couldn't get saved he wouldn't come to God mom came to God my sister came to God brother came to Christ my dad would just not come to God as if Calexico is like in the south part of the California little tiny and and there yeah a Baptist preacher Merck and Baptist preacher retired so they send you the senior they send you to Calexico when you retire cuz it's like it's like three feet from hell you know what I'm saying is like way out in this man he reeled a man he got my daddy reeled him in every afternoon sit and talk about stuff and he hooked them in every afternoon MIDI just this huge shark you know coming closer and got him saved and got him baptized my dad overnight quit his drinking and his smoking became a matter God and at rich man a church man when his pastor left the church for some reason my dad cried like a baby I'd never seen my dad cry and all the years that I was with him cried like a baby on his deathbed I went to visit him you say any system my mother honey yeah have you paid the tithes figure that one out that's oh he was a church man never one to high school leave the church man gentlemen you and I need to man up man up to the church let me challenge us make a decision this week this weekend to go back to your churches whether it be here where you came home and be the man you God wants you to be amen [Applause]
