Tikka T3x Tac-A1 Unboxing and Initial Impressions

hey Jason became a mountain Catskill very exciting day 40 pack a 1 hit America last week they're shipped out to a few dealers and we got one so we're going to unbox it here I'm sorry already spoken for I really wish I could do a shooting review and we get our next action we'll take it out and shoot it but let's unbox this and give you guys a first look it drum roll wow you know a little worried about this um in my opinion figa doesn't do a great job packaging their rifles and as they're entering in tomorrow's the premium rifle price point it's where they're going to have that kind of broken styrofoam stuff that you can make the trip from Finland very well but this is really nice I mean everything is in here there's not a whole lot of wiggle room uh first thing I notice so you got a free magazine voucher here that you can get from beretta here there's already a magazine in the right hole so that gets you two magazines this is this is worth a lot I mean each of these magazines are 150 bucks so oh that's that's good so we got here okay it seems like kind of like a CTR standard CTR bolts yep we got the Teflon coating on it that steel molded arm bolts out on here they're full plastic oversized and old buddy same same thing we'd expect with the CTR we got here this is actually a pretty heavy box interesting okay got a toolkit ah of a shroud tool any of you guys who have ever popped your shroud off and accidentally uh unsprung you're firing pin assembly this is the tool that allows you to easily put it back together so very cool to include that let's be for the action screws up here couple little screws is this is a QT quick detach sling mount so this was must go into the just be a modular piece that you can put in two different rails are there slots in the EM afforded a couple allen wrenches here a whole bag of extra allen screws so we'll see what cap oh it's another magazine so you have the magazine here we've got this magazine plus your voucher so you get three magazines with this rifle which is I mean right there the two extra mags that of the articles and beyond the CT are pushing ahead three hundred bucks stock spacers but thought spacers so you can adjust your link pull we have here oh this is a TRD 22 muzzle brake so you guys you know have spins with the TRG accessories are significant value point here I don't know the price off the top of my head I want to see it's around a hundred to one hundred twenty-five bucks off for this model break I was in the mobile is already thread so you're you're good to go out of the gate I'm not going to undo this tape here because this rifle is spoken for um but yeah I think my word for it we got a PRG bubble break ah sitting in here so I'm just going to set this aside of course the fun part right oh great I really wish this was the shop rifle so we could go out and shoot it but as you'd expect from tikka the fit and finish is spectacular I mean this chassis I mean no machine marks just crisp really really impressive setup and talking to mica shot show on this they kind of copied the Ruger precision rifle where they used an ar-10 style barrel nut so if you want it's not every AR ten florins will fit on here but I guess select you like the sequins or you know so I'm using a standard AR ten barrel nut there you can swap out this rail thread protector on the puzzle whole Picatinny rail now just the nature of trying to make um the rail in the action in the foreign this is 0m away but you know the kind of object you're going to put on this is going to have enough internal adjustment that you will be maximizing your optics but you know this is a 65 Creedmoor you'll have more than enough adjustment in the skill to shoot half a thousand yards of this I mean really this is he gives entrance into a PRF style rifle that will be able to compete with a Ruger precision rifle and I think they've done a stand-up job I mean you have your um just ability your cheek comb it's nice and quick um you can slide your butt pad up and down so things can you roll back here so if you wanted to run a monopod the ar-15 style grips you can swap this out for pretty much any AR grip on the market though I don't know why you would this is this is really really nice extremely tactile on these definitely put a lot of thought into what textures they put wear with this grip that's just that feels really good standard TRD 22 style mag release this comes standard with a folding stock option and there's there is no play that locks up nice and tight um oh and it locks open or yeah locks open so this isn't going to collapse on you like some of the other ones we've tested the XOR that kind of chassis that ends up folding back on if you're no walking mechanism so let's get this lock back up and then so tikka put a two-stage trigger on here much like what you see in a high-power ar-15 something like it guys Lee so let's grab this bolt a shot show they obviously did a lot of pull trigger so let's all right that will clear fold it nothing in the chamber cool that nice you can preload the trigger very crisp break that peak is known for that ability to preload the trigger Wow yeah I don't I will have to get a trigger scale on here to see exactly what this one's on adjusts do I know that you can adjust both stages on this according to the instructions another it sound like the old 75 that's interesting so okay so the rifles on face normally can't open this so you have to you normally on normal T gut if which you're firing or excuse me or safety forward to build remove your bolts but you can have the rifle on safe this is something that they adopted from the Saco line into the Teague I'm really glad they did this you push this down you don't have to take your rifle off safe to open the bolt that is really really nice I mean just I've never heard of anybody having an accidental discharge with their key just but at least me personally it's always been a little unnerving taking that rifle off of safe to open it on clear chamber so that's a nice feature I mean really this is you just take this out of the box and go shoot a PRS match it's going to be the end of June when our shop rifle shows up so stay tuned for a follow up review where we actually take one of these out and shoot it until then that are really happy customer getting one of the first 40 I
