hello and welcome to today's video which we are quickly in like five minutes going to talk about how to make a backup of your program from the PLC so here's this scenario we have right now I've got a program it's downward I'm connected to the PRC that's all good and fine but here I am as well I got my program and I accidentally delete my PSC or I make changes that I didn't really want to I actually don't have the whole PLC program we have to make a completely new tier program right or the system has been running for 20 years or not 20 is for maybe 5 years and you don't know where the program is on your PC or on your servers or somewhere so you would have to create everything new all right basically that's what you had to do for 300 for the older pcs if you lost your program you lost your program you could get the backup from the physical plc you could get a backup and load it to your PC but you would lose a lot of information the program would work but it would not be a good program anymore I mean you you upload it it works it does exactly what it does but you can't read any comments all the variable names are gone everything is basically gone except for a working program so you won't be able to really work with that for the 1500s and 1200 it's way more comfortable you could either that's what I'm going to do maybe let's create a new project I don't upload from PLC that I don't care about my current project should make changes so I've got a new project right this project is completely empty and I have a physical PC connected it's sitting up there and I have the program as you just saw in the other program upload it to it and download it to it and now I actually need a backup what you can do very simple very easy with GI Porter you can click on your APIs level on your here on the project right upload from PLC that's my project no I actually can also click on and those two I think but I always click on the project and you can click on top here it says online right it's not the go online button the orange one that's not available because we do not have a physical PRC in our project we need to press on top here online and there we see upload device as a new station hardware and software that's the button you're looking for I think you can also right click no you cannot right-click you have to go online upload device as new station hardware and software I click on this now my device interface prompt will pop up I have it connected here right now with profinet or industrial Ethernet and it's with this adapter I start the search and you can see I find a Piercy this is the only one I have hooked up right now so that's the one I just actually download I can click on upload now why am I actually so much left on swedeland me I'm back here here we go so I clicked upload right and now it's uploading actually from the PLC to my pc into my project first thing I do know now is of course I saved the project and I now have a backup of the complete project meaning I have my Piercy including the correct PLC name that was there before I have the complete device configuration including all the parameters like the clock memory like IP addresses everything is still there as we had it in before I have my PLC tags so I have all my variables are still there with the correct name the correct address correct data type even the comments are still there and last but not least of course I can go to program blocks let's see I have my main function so also my program is backed up I can go here I even have the network titles I have the core structure so all functions as you download them are also back upload and it action I can go into those functions and you see the programs are there the program parts the comments the networks all the networks basically you have got the whole program uploaded from the PC to your PC into the project that's how you get a backup so if you ever lose your PLC program from the PC don't worry just get it back from the PLC if it's still on there if I now would load another program of course the old program is gone so you always only have one state on the PSC that's for sure yeah that's how you make backups pretty simple actually pretty pretty simple original data blocks a data blocks are also there with the correct start values of course one thing has not been uploaded right now from the plc it is the current value so if there's been some some calculations and there's some intermediate results in your working memory that's not been uploaded of course not because this does not belong to the project this those are current values sitting in the PSE you can also back those up I made a video on data blocks so check out my channel that's it already this is how you can make an easy quick backup from the PRC to your PC if this helped you a little bit and leave a like and subscribe to my channel and if you've got any questions on this just leave a comment in the box below I thank you for watching and I will see you in the next video bye
