[Music] hey welcome or welcome back to my channel in today's video we're going to go to four different thrifts including Island Thrift and American Thrift I had never been to this Island Thrift before and I was cautiously optimistic I started in the front where they had pulled out what they deemed to be more valuable items like sports memorabilia old books vintage HomeGoods and Jewelry [Music] overall it's pretty clean and organized with some interesting HomeGoods the staff was friendly they have bathrooms and a lot of dressing rooms which is [Music] great I thought that it was a bit pricey for a thrift store to be honest maybe I'm wrong and I've been going to too many flea markets lately so my pricing is off so I'm going to pick up some items to show you the prices and you can [Music] decide these pink glass pie or cake stands caught my eye and reminded me of of something I thought I'd seen at anthropology I did find similar ones that are available at West Elm and Pottery Barn I'm not saying go get the ones at West Elm more like you can Thrift pie stands just like West Elm ones if you want I've been drawn to Amber and ochre colored objects lately but at $15 a piece for these candlestick holders they were a no for me I've seen similar pricing for similar candlestick holders at vintage malls and emporiums where I expect to pay up because not only am I paying for the item but I'm paying for the sourcing cleaning and care of that item resellers put a lot of energy time and money into acquiring their pieces and I'm paying for those Services Am I Wrong to think that thrift store prices should be significantly lower comment below and let me know what you think oh a quick PSA while we're in the glasswar section have you seen this new hack or reseller item where people are taking vintage candy dishes and glass bowls and turning them into candles it seems like a great way to upcycle old glasswar and level up your candles with pretty containers right yeah unfortunately those items were not intended for flames and hot wax so please be careful if you're attempting to do this DIY as glass can crack and explode when hot [Music] if you know me you know I picked up this blue and white porcelain dish from Portugal and I carried it around for the entire time I was in the store [Music] I'm sort of a clumsy person more on that later so I usually keep an eye out for pretty drinking glasses as I break mine fairly regularly while there were some really nice options at this store at like $1 and $116 a piece that felt a little pricey to me so I passed if it was like $16 for an entire set of six or eight that would be a different story silver has been trending in fashion for the last 2 years and is supposed to be a big Trend in interior design in the next few years and lasts for a decade or more if you are a silver girly it's time to celebrate and go to the thrift because there's always silver there I did did pick up some things from Island Thrift which I'll show you at the end of the video but let's head over to our second stop angels of Long Island Thrift Store I guess the people who live in this area of Long Island really like Lennox items because we're going to see a lot of them in this [Music] video this is definitely a good thrift store to go to if you're looking for a complete set of serving wear [Music] they had a lot of dishes plates mugs bowls and complete sets [Music] check out that porcelain vase and teapot that had the fruit on them my mom definitely had that in the '90s [Music] while watching this back I laughed at how past me violently shoved away that green Bowl in order to get to the blue and white one here's a lot more plates and everything in the store was pretty appropriately priced thrift store pricing [Music] even though that store had some nice things and the pricing was good I didn't end up getting anything from there and we're headed off to our third location which is [Music] Sabers I found this original art immediately on entering the store so I was excited about the promise that the rest of the store would have if it started off this good I spent a little time going through this section with all the vases I'm not really sure why I don't think I need any more vases personally I honestly whenever I'm in the vase section I'm mostly thinking we have all the vases there's no need for anyone to make another vase ever [Music] I noticed that right after Christmas there were a tons of punch bowls with all the serving cups in them available at the thrift it seemed like maybe people bought punch bowls thinking they were going to use them over the holidays and then didn't or used them and then thought I'm never going to need this again so they donated it in either case if you want a punch bowl I think to go get it the best time to do that would be after the holiday just like after Easter there's so much Bunny and other Easter type decorations available at the thrift store people just realize they don't need it anymore and they donate it our last but definitely the best stop was American Thrift wait until you see the pull at the end of the video I mean my head nearly exploded from Joy going through this store we spent I feel like we we were in the store for at least 2 hours I was really excited to see so much original art at this thrift store including this painting done by a guy named Edward which my boyfriend found and he asked me if we should get it because his name is Edward and then we could tell people that he did it and it did ride around in our cart for a [Music] while I don't know what was going on at this thrift store and it seems to be a trend at the fleas as well but these Regency core or these Regency style lamps with these figurines on it and just these figurines from this time period in general are all over this store ooh I grabbed this vintage flush mount light fixture because I'm looking to Source One for a foyer makeover that I'm working on I showed it to my client and unfortunately he vetoed it so the hunt continues speaking of hunts I spent a little time going through their extensive picture frame section because I'm looking to frame that art that I thrifted at the Stormville Flea Market a few weeks ago it's kind of a strange shape it's like 12 in x 4 in so I'm hoping to either find a frame that is close in size close enough for the art to fit inside of it or slightly larger and then I will do a little DIY hack and adjust it so that it fits the artwork that I thrifted [Music] and we're back in the glass wear there was a lot of nice stuff at good prices but nothing that I really needed and wanted so I kept it moving [Music] here's another section of Regency core items in case you don't know the Regency ERA refers to the years in British history around the turn of the century the 1800s this was the time of Napoleon and the setting of The Bridgeton books so it's a time of refinement wealth and Romanticism you're going to see writers like Jane Austin Lord Byron Keats and Shelly musicians like Beethoven artists like Turner and constable and they're creating Moody romantic Landscapes seascapes and portraits with oil paint as far as interior design and architecture you would see marble curves and arches caned Furniture pastel colors uh gilded gold items and the use of materials uh like Silk let me know if you're interested in learning more about the Regency Era or another era in history and how you can incorporate that into your Interiors while I was going off about the Regency Era we saw uh cute decanter you know I'm on the lookout for those and a couple little bunnies left over from Easter also a little shout out to the number one dad frame with a photo of a guy who kind of looks like Tom Brady and someone donating a huge doll collection which I'm I'm sorry but it is the one item that I do think is haunted at the thrift store or in [Music] general I thought this teacup and saucer set was cute so I did put it in my cart for a little while and speaking of cute my boyfriend and coconut make an appearance [Music] I was really excited when I thought I spotted some marble candlestick holders but as soon as I picked them up I could tell they were plastic so I put them back down [Music] at this point in the day my phone was at like 2% and I was running out of storage so I started taking photos of some of the things that I had put in my cart and then I will show you a full poll [Music] after a very long day we headed home to evaluate and clean our haul I ended up getting two decanter two candles a picture frame and a glass Tupperware container not a very glamorous haul but a practical one the painting fits in the frame but I'm not sure if I should keep it behind the glass or not and I'm not sure if I should do a DIY on the frame because I don't love the color and I'm not sure where the art is going to live in my apartment also I broke the tops of the decanter rendering them unusable as decanters so now they are vases I guess I told you I was clumsy I also left behind three shirts that I meant to get so the day kind of ended on a bummer that being said if you likeed this video give it a like And subscribe to see more thrifting videos hopefully with happier hauls DIYs and room makeovers I'm planning to drop my bathroom makeover next week so stay tuned for that bye
