welcome to the long version video of the ambulance camper I asked you on Instagram if you would like to have many short or one long video . The answer was "one long video", so here we are... could be very long... So what will happen here? We start by going around and I will explain some things. After that I will show you the living room. after that we do the driver cabin In the end we will dig into the technical stuff Lets go How did this project even start? A friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend... So two years ago a buddy asked me to come with him to a car sales man who was friends of him He told me that he has an ambulance which would be a very nice foundation to build on not much work to do "only" removing the ambulance foil and make it look pretty with useful gadgets and a bed within ONE month, ready to $ell So it started with 3 months of removing the adhesive foil alone so it is ready to be painted After the paint was done i realized that i dont want to do it unproperly.. so i did it very properly.. in this video i will switch between "i" and "we" this is because i started the project with a friend after the paintjob was done we decided, that i will go on alone because Tim wanted to finish the project as fast as possible and i wanted to make this project as crazy as possbile :) so i can go deep into the details okay lets start here outside we put the whole car apart and did a proper paintjob all the black parts like the front bumper, the grill, the mirrors, this grid here.. is all raptor coated all the aluminium parts from the ambulance were silver i powder coated them all black to keep the design line we installed the snorkel it´s an 2WD car, so it´s more a design feature the snorkel is connected to the air inlet of the engine so if the water level is here the engine keeps running but then you have other problems this is the shore electricity plug underneath is the fresh water inlet and the service door for the toilet i even put some leather here the ladder is self welded out of aluminium and black powder coated here i put some paint-protecting foil to avoid scratches i installed 2x S4 blackline windows from Dometic the rims are stock, i just painted them and put new tires on the two worklights were there already, i just coated them raptor black i think thats it you can open these 2 doors 270 degrees here are two more work lights, a reverse camera with night vision this is a locked slide out underneath i left it free, so the future owner can add seperation walls just like she/he wants it i used heavy duty slideouts strong enough for me but i wouldn´t load more^^ it is locked in position press down to unlock this is the outdoor storage which opens automatically via a gas spring here is the gas/butan box in there is a gas/butan tank you can fill it up easily at the gas station here you can see the level i rebuilt the whole thing the bed inside is 190cm and here is enough space for ski/snowboard/ i think surf board not here is more storage space 2x 230v plugs integrated lights in the door this is a camera with a special function, which you´ll see in a minute lets go inside :) these two grills are for the refrigerator air circulation the step open and close with the door automatically now lets go inside fr :) lets start with the kitchen i welded it to one piece out of aluminium squaretubes and powder coated it black the sink is out of granite soap soap soap underneath here you will find the stove it is out of real glass and has an electronic ignition hold on this was the automatic butan stop to avoid unburned butan coming out 3x 230Vplug + 2 USB this has no function here is all the electronical stuff and the battery, which i will show you in a minute the overhead storage is also welded out of alu, then powder coated here you can put on knifes or other magnetic things when you are cooking and you need more work space just flip that table in the sliding door is a sliding window the fridge has a deep freezer this is a butan runned oven the engineering is the special thing about that fridge you can run it on 230v, 12v or butan the fridge choose automatically the best power source while driving the alternator generates current the fridge gets a signal and turns to 12v mode automatically if there is 230v shore electricity it will change to 230v if the engine is not running and you don´t have shore power the fridge will change to butan with auto ignition when the battery is full and there is enough solar energy the solar charge controller communicates with the fridge and then is running on solar current more storage with automatic light all covered with a special carpet lets go on with the living room enough space for 4 persons i am proud of the idea of the table because underneath there is just space for the legs the table is stepless adjustable so you can put it like you want it and lock it then connect your latop via hdmi with the big screen change to lounge mode now it is loose with them you can lock the table position with this piece of wood you can lock it even more for offroad driving for examle when you start the smart tv it opens the window mode the tv is connected with the outdoor cam you just saw you can see what is going on outside but you can´t see whats going on inside the drill holes are for the sound from the tv speaker when closing the outdoor storage door there is a overpressure which can exit thought the holes more storage here again with auto light and a safe which is bolted with the chassis of the car here is my favorite feature the compressed air cannot exit and creates a natural soft close effect i hit it with max power i let this free on purpose it is important to keep free space that you can use for whatever in my van i made it like this also when the backdoors are open it is a huge benefit now i show you the couch/2ndbed mode if you need huge space you can remove the table easily second step: put in the squaretubes step 3: put in gap wood step 4: put in table step 5: this this is a couch or second bed the main bed is over me and you can lift it down electrically when the bed is in this position there is enough space for 4 person but when you are alone or with partner you don´t need the 2nd bed go for it Oli it was very important for me that you can sit like this in bed here is prototype roof window you can open the flap easily "shit, it just fell out of my hand! normally you lift down the flap gently but i didn´t blackout blind / mosquito i modified this window that it is even with the wall otherwise the bed wouldn´t have enough space to lift up the bedroom gets even more air/light flooded when the back doors are open this was my imagination: air/light flooded bedroom for the best sleepy wakeup daystart more space here and usb ports the lighting is stepless dimmable there is a 4kw diesel air heater on board there are 3 hot air outlets in cold nights the heated air goes straight to the bed when bed is up it heats the living room the bed construction was a challenge because my idea was to lift it up and down electrically it was super hard to find the right 12v motor with the right torque and the right speed eventually i found an amercian dc motor that was used in a big RV which can slide out the whole side the system is equal to the one i built in my van its a shaft, 3 bearings and a rope the rope rolls up on the shaft, so the bed pulls itself up another requirement was that the bed is guided in any position i installed 2 guiding rails In the beginning i wanted to install 4 but after i installed the first 2 rails i saw that it is already stiff enough the next challenge was to install the cables for the light and the motor i used this energy chain this is the closet some lights here.. 2x push to open storage also it is a good place to smuggle stuff but not now anymore, bc everybody knows it now.. ..how dumb another hot air outlet here there is also a ventilation mode for warm days let´s go on with the bathroom some space to pin up stuff put something here.. some space for keys, mobile, wallet.. i just wanted to use that extra space the bathroom has a hot water shower a chemical free toilet with the SOG system all smell free a little sink for brushing teeth over here this is a vent that can suck in fresh air or blow out used air another hot air outlet here so you can put in for example a wet surf suite, put on the heater and the suck out vent to dry fast the walls are covered by SlateLite real stone over there is the hot water boiler the boiler is connected with the cooling hoses from the cars engine the system is intelligent and you have hot water in any situation the water heats up everytime when you are driving scenario 1: the engine is running for at least 5 min. The water in the boiler heats up and stay warm for 24h scenario 2: the water is cold and you are not driving --> put on the diesel heater from the engine--> engine becomes hot --> boiler water becomes hot scenario 3: you are connected to the shore power and the water heats up by the integrated 230v heating coil scenario 4: battery is full and sun is shining--> you can run the 230V heating coil via the 12V/230V inverter so there is hot water in any situation let´s go on with the electrical stuff it is powered by a 200Ah lithium battery you can shut down the whole system via this killswitch in total 3x fuseboxes there is a battery computer it shows you all the information about the current battery and solar status you can also connect your smartphone with it aguaciao = automatic dirty agua release ( you can also control from the driver seat ) heater = diesel water heater for the engine boiler 230V = heat coil for the boiler via the inverter or shore power this is the autoterm comfort control for the 4kw diesel air heater for the living cabin "rein/raus" = bath roof vent "suck/blow" lol tank heat = heats the outside mounted and insulated 150Liter water deposit to prevent freezing in winter via the temp gauge you see the current water temp, when it goes to 1-2° you can just put on the heater for an hour or something this is the illumination for the 2 water level gauges fresh water =150 liter grey water = 50 liter this is the solar computer screen right now it is super cloudy and it even makes 5 A this is the remote control for the 2000watt inverter with integrated charger and NVS if you connect to shore power it charges your battery and all consumers are powered by shore grid "guten Morgen/gute Nacht" is the control for the lift bed 6x worklights outside right/left/rear you can switch them from the living cabin and the drivers seat this is the indoor light control main light rear light table light the lights are dimmable in brightness and temperatur lets go to the roof rack or lets do this via a drone footage on top there is a big roof terrace there are 390watt solar panels here i also changed a lot i changed the single seat to a double bench for 3 person in total perfect for long distance travel :) it has an automatic gearbox and a cruise control i installed a huge touch radio with 109213 gadgets behind the seat is a subwoofer i covered a lot of things with alcantara air conditioner steering wheel reformed with leather and alcantara the light breaks at this corners edge, so you are not blinded when driving at night from this selfmade panel you can switch all the outdoor lights and the grey water release more storage here documentation for the new owner it is like a little owner manual :) the car is 100% street legal in Germany normally RVs over 3,5t are speedlimited to 100Km/h maybe this is the only RV over 3.5t with open speed the car had a special permission from its life as an ambulance and they didn´t noticed so it still has this permission and is officially allowed to run as fast as possible RACING!!1! here is the wiring diagram, fusebox diagram.. FI/LS for 230v here and the invertor itself it has a vent, which makes noice and this is the reason why it is not in the living area this is a dual battery voltage gauge when your start battery is dead you can start the car via the board battery here are all the relais and fuses for the outdoor lights ... i spent too much time in details haha crazy.. project campulance is done! i worked on it nearly 2 years the project claimed so much energy i am just happy that the ambulance is finished i did the whole thing to test out my ideas like the bed system, the bathroom with the water system now i did it and it works like i want it ! i learned so much i did so many thing 3 or 4 times because i wanted to have it perfect i mean like perfect as possible with my tools now the project is finished and i have no use for it, bc i have another camper i WAS looking for a buyer i sold it sucessfully the future gonna be crazy, i want to move to spain to life there in a HUGE bus that i want to convert into the craziest tinyhouse you will ever see ! check out my new videos if you want to see the process :)) thanks for watching !
