years ago when I was reading one piece for the first time mihawk was my favorite character I was a typical mihawk stand so you can only imagine my excitement to see mihawk display his true power as the world's strongest swordsman at Marine Force but sadly I do feel mihawk was the only disappointing real criticism I have for that AR I'm still a mihawk fan but the hype for him has slowly dwindled over time but last week my faith in mehawk was completely restored I hopped in a call with my friend Crow from our opu podcast we were just hanging now talking about one piece and he dropped the single greatest mihawk Theory I've ever heard which completely shifted my view of the character so today I'm going to share with you mihawk's secret P that tells a story of when he was once a Holy Knight but quickly before we begin if you're not subscribed already make sure to subscribe and hit that Bell like Luffy and skypia to never miss an upload I'm currently working on a huge theory that will reveal what the one piece treasure is and trust me you're not going to want to miss it first and foremost let's get this out the way this is not a power Skilling video I don't care who you think is stronger between mihawk and Shanks I'm only here to discuss this beautiful theory about mihawk's origin which does actually include a lot of shank stuff but just behave yourself in the comments dracu mihawk is one of the most mysterious and perplexing figures in one piece with not much of anything to go off about his past all we know is that he made a name for himself before the great pirate era as a swordsman and according to Croc mihok doesn't trust people he is a pirate but up until cross Guild formation he never had a crew yet he sails around by himself as a warlord he also once had a rivalry with Shanks and he apparently also hunted Marines in the past which is a pretty big hint to some of his background and of course we know that mihawk is respected throughout the world as the greatest swordsman a lot of people think that mihawk is some bland and boring character only made as an obstacle for zoro's path to his dream what if I told you that oda's been planting these very small seeds to hint at mihawk's background the entire time did you know that mihawk and Shanks have the same birthday March 9th this makes them both Pisces and Pisces is a sign that is often representative of Yin and Yang two fish swimming down opposite paths and so mihawk and shins being old rivals together with the same birthday forming a pair are similar yet completely different I mean they're both legendary Swordsmen they're both legendary Pirates of their respective era and shs is only one cm taller and then if we look at their designs and personalities mihawk is a much more stoic calm there as a brooding figure he's always composed while Shanks is a lot more expressive emotional bright and Goofy in general but I think it goes even more deeper than just personality shins values his crew over everything and will protect his friends meanwhile miog doesn't have really any friends and he wanders alone and now this is where this Theory gets really really interesting because as we know Shin's life path has been that he's a son or maybe relative of a Holy Knight taken in as a child and raised by Pirates so now let's reverse that and look at mihawk I think mihawk could be the son of a pirate taken forcibly by the celestial dragons raised as a slave but eventually working his way up to impress even the holy Knights and joining their ranks at a young age I can sit here and show you Minor Details like mihawk using similar terminology as the celestial dragons for example calling people rabbits and insects but I'd much rather focus on this seemingly minor line from Zoro because this one line could be a defining fact of mihawk's entire character scars on the back are a swordsman shame I think mihawk is hiding a huge scar on his back from his time as a holy night in training this could be from a Celestial hoofprint or a literal scar as he was trying to escape and if miok really was a holy night slave at some point he could even have whipping scars on his back which he may have received at a very young age we all remember shank's iconic scar on his face that Blackbeard gave him Shanks even told Whitebeard that his scar from Blackbeard Hurts the Most even more than losing his shank Scar from Blackbeard brings him emotions of anger shame and everyone can see this scar which means that for a while people were always asking Shanks about his scar which means he's always thinking about this encounter with Blackbeard and so similar to Shanks but different if M has scars on his back from his days as a slave this would also bring great shame but the difference here is that he can at least hide these scars unlike Shanks M isn't constantly being reminded of his past he isn't constantly being reminded of his own shames but Zoro was the one man who did did remind him of his past when he said that scars on the back of a man are a swordsman shame and what's interesting about these slave markings that he received from a young age is that similar to Boa Hancock I think this will be the reveal that lets us get deeper into mihawk's mysterious past and it could also be a huge factor into why he doesn't trust people it's possible that even the Marine Hunter epithe could be complete horh because what if miw actively hunting Marines all started out with marines coming after him to make him return to the holy land because of this he was given the title of marine Hunter after defeating so many different Marines if you remember that when the Marines finally came to invade Dracula mihawk he says it's been quite some time since I was the one being chased I can't help but tremble what excitement and another connection with slavery to the Warlords is that many of the Warlords have connections in some way to slavery for example with boa jimbe and Kuma who were all at one point slaves and for do flamingo a former Celestial Dr and someone who previously owned many slaves and even had a slave auction house he's someone who is part of the criminal underworld and it's implied that doy has connections to so many different ties in slavery so if this is a theme that OD is wanting to continue there's a solid chance that mihawk also has slavery tied to his past in some way I mean even now with the seraphim who are just lunarian versions of the Warlords even they are child slaves weapons of war stripped from their Free Will and going back to how mihawk speaks and behaves it seems to indicate that he was raised in this almost elegant bougie high class upbringing it's also interesting that mihawk chooses to live in a huge castle and so the idea of mihawk being formerly connected to Celestial dragons and raised by the holy Knights I mean it does fit in with his character but where we get really really deep into the rabbit hole here with mihawk being a former Holy Knight is what we think about the knight's Templar because many people believe that the Templar knights are the inspiration for the holy Knights and this is because they originated as the nine kns who live in Jerusalem also known as The Holy Land just like the holy land of marijua and these nine kns would go on to become a skilled military unit for the Catholic Church carrying out the allegiance to the pope now if you look at one piece it seems from what Oda has shown us that there are nine main holy Knights and they're a military unit working with one piece's holy land marijua and serving The Godly Celestial dragons now what's really interesting is how mihawk seems to be be heavily inspired by a Catholic Spanish kador miok wears a Jesus Piece around his neck which is actually a small knife that he used against his fight with Zoro and his sword yodu is clearly inspired by the shape of a giant Holy Cross and has a very similar design to the holy cross that we see Kuma praying to in chapter 1098 but I think you guys get my point that mihawk and the holy Knights both have a very Catholic religious inspiration also tying them to the Templar knights what's interesting is that we've already already been working on this theory for a few weeks and then Oda decided to drop an SBS hinting at mihawk's pass with the world government and he states that he cut ties with the world government at some point and this was interesting because it also fits perfectly with our Theory here that mihawk was once a Holy Knight and the timing really couldn't have been any better if mihawk really was a Holy Knight then the biggest linking figure between him and Shanks would be none other than Garling with his immense potential as a swordsman Miha could have been chosen as a disciple to none other than the leader himself heaw would have been garlin's Prodigy raised around the holy knights in their culture of combat and surrounded by Celestial dragons in their livestyle I remember when I first saw Garling and I thought that is the coolest looking sword since yodu we can assume Garling is a powerful swordsman so he would be the perfect person to teach mihawk the fundamentals of fighting imagine mihawk while training to become a Holy Knight and he hears Garling talking about his son that was taken by Goldie Roger during God Valley and so when mihok finally leaves the holy night and goes down to the real world he makes it one of his goals to find Garling son and test his strength imagine they build a friendship through these duels and shaking the grand line every single time the twin fish finally interacting on their opposite paths through friendship and rivalry mihawk and Shanks push each other to new heights evolving every time but this all comes to an abrupt end when mihawk finds out that Shanks lost his dominant arm in the East blue and perhaps the only person that he called a friend and a true rival betrayed that relationship for reasons that he can't really understand not yet at least and this was why he refused to fight Shanks now the very thing our friendship was staked on you sacrific for the future and now this is where Zoro comes into the picture because we see mihawk's reaction to Zoro asking him to train him and is a very key phrase that he says perhaps you found a cause greater than your own ambition and so I think that zoro's loyalty to Luffy will be a direct reference to a similar situation with mihawk and Shanks because mihawk couldn't bring himself to understand why he sacrifices arms and both Zoro and shins put Luffy above their own ambition but before we continue if you enjoyed this Theory so far make sure to leave a like because if this video reaches 3,000 likes I'll let you guys pick which character I make a theory on next when you look at someone like Whitebeard or Roger or Luffy and shins they already had a raw monstrous power from the beginning but one thing that you'll notice is that their strength is Amplified because of their friends as captains the stakes are raised so much more when you have to be strong to protect your friends and family who are not as strong as you being a pirate with this much ambition is dangerous so having these cruise that allows their captains to draw an emotional motivation beyond their own ambition is very important if you look at mihawk he's a lone wolf but I see mihawk as someone who's already achieved his own goals ging the respect from the world as the strongest so when mihawk sees zoro's loyalty and dedication to Luffy's dream over his own ambition the story here is that it allows Zoro to dig even deeper and surpass mihawk at the end of one piece zoro's goal isn't just selfish of course he wants to be the strongest swordsman but he also wants to become this for Luffy now we already know that that mihawk is destined to one day fight his student Zoro this also brings up another potential student Master matchup with Garling versus mihawk many people also forget the world government's already declared war against cross guill and Goku even admits that cross Goods become a real problem for the Marines after they put bounties on their heads and the world government's already responded engaging in this war launching an attack sending multiple serap and M cross Guild so this is going to get ugly and at a certain point mihawk might have to fight an admiral or fight someone very powerful within the Marines but if we take it even further if this is a war between cross Guild and the world government it would be really cool to see mihawk face off against the holy Knights eventually and even ging figurin I just can't wait to see mihawk unleash his full fury on the world government and the Marines because with this theory in mind that trauma wants being a slave the shame he feels and for a character who's always been so stoic and calm I cannot wait to see mihawk just unleash his emotions if you enjoyed this video make
