This is GORUCK’s Most Unique Pack and My Favorite! The GROUCK M23

this is my favorite goat Rook bag hi I'm John welcome to unpack this is my favorite go bag and the most unique bag that go currently offers in its lineup now they have built a reputation amongst the carry community and the fitness Community for building some of the most robust bags on the market now this is my favorite bag because it's an outlier this bag does a lot of other things that the other bags in the lineup don't do and we'll get into all the nooks and crannies and we'll talk about all that as we unpack everything about this bag so this bag was inspired by the M1 1945 a bag that was issued to all the troops during World War II so go Ruck took that inspiration and made this the M23 so let's start on the outside of the bag with the Aesthetics as you can see that this is a top loader very different from the other offerings that gor has you have two FIT loock buck to secure the top lid down you have some zippers all the way around you have this is where the laptop compartment is on the back another zipper area here another zipper area on the front and we're going to get into all that but let's start with the materials now this bag comes in several different materials uh dry wax canvas robok and also Cordura and depending on the material you choose will also unlock lock different colors I do like that go offers this bag in many different colors what I have for you today is the black robu material now this robot material is super smooth super buttery and I love this material a lot it when goo started using this material it started taking away more of that tactical look away and more of tactic cool this this is a better looking material in my opinion to take to something like the office a lot of their bags are starting to come now with quick access Pockets a lot less SMY and P webbing so as the bags become less tactical looking they're looking a lot better for everyday non-military folk like myself so the listed specs for this bag are 14 1 12 in wide it's a pretty big bag 7 and 1/2 in deep and 19 in tall this is for the 21 L model the 26 L model obviously is going to be a little bit bigger it's almost 2 in taller the listed weight for this bag is 2.8 lb when I weighed it it came in a little bit less at 2.14 I believe I'll put the number here on the screen going back to the material forgot to mention that it is 420d robu all around the bag but on the back on the shoulder straps and on the laptop compartment here it is actually 210 High tenacity Cordura and the reason that go Rook has started moving towards these 210 shoulder straps and 210 backing is because it's softer on your skin it's if you're using this for rucking you know it's softer on your clothing cuz they used to use 1000d and very coarse very rough and it would tear up your clothing I'm a big fan of this 210d now I know it's online forums there's you can go either way I personally like it it is a lot Slicker so the bag does move around on you a little bit more but one of the things that's included with the bag is a sternum strap now not all bags from go ru come with a strap this bag does one of the things that makes it also another outline it comes with go Rook standard strap I have changed it out for this fidlock laser engraved one um if you're interested in one of these buckles just reach out to me I can hook you up but this is the standard strap and if you get a fun color like tidal blue you will get a color match strap which is again cool because you can't even purchase the color match straps on their site if you try to buy a strap you're going to get one of these or sometimes they have the Cody Brown available but standard strap will come included so continuing on the outside of the B we have this nice padded handle which is an improvement over the M22 um one thing that goor is really known for like I said is they're beefy beefy construction these straps look at these straps the amount of padding the width and the Box stitching along the top here I mean reinforc stitching all along the top reinforced stitching all along the sides I mean this thing is going to be built to outlast you for sure very robust just reinforced stitching along the handle so you can be confident that no matter what you do you're going to be able to support any kind of weight like I said these bags are made for rucking also on the exterior of the bag you have the go patch it's removable like on most GO bags they put a 2x3 Loop field where you can use their standard patch they also sell a bunch of patches or you can leave it blank or add your own patch I like this I'm a patch guy big fan of the 2x3 Loop field go Ru does use premium material since this is a premium product you have YKK zippers all throughout the bag inside and out you have fidlock like we talked about fidlock magnetic buckles and just I mean how satisfying is a fidlock buckle on this bag you're going to have one front access pocket and this is a pretty big pocket it comes out to measure out this whole area here now it's just a giant dump pocket so anything you do put in there there's no pocket pocketing or anything is literally going to sink down to the bottom so just got to keep that in mind when you're loading up this front pocket along the side here you're going to have what gooru considers their admin pocket here it's going to have this nice stretchy material on the inside but two pockets they're pretty big but that's pretty nice addition cuz as you know most goldor bags don't come with any kind of admin panel but you do have two pockets in there more more additional space on this side you're going to have another YKK zipper here and this one's going to allow you to get quick access right into the bag where you don't have to undo the top you can get right into the bag and pull something out you want to get in there and pull your Tech case out you can easily do that without having to do undo all the buckles and the drawstring and all that stuff along the back you have the bombproof laptop compartment again YKK zippers now these are not Aqua guard they're not going to be waterproof this material the robu and even the 210 tenacity High tenacity cadura are going to be water resistant but again no Aqua guard so you're leaving you a little bit exposed just keep that in mind when storing your laptop you get caught in the rain no Aqua guard zippers now as you can see the shoulder straps come over the laptop compartment so in order to get into it you you do have to peel them back and that's that goes for most goor bags so nothing about this bag is going to be quick access there's not even a quick access pocket I mean you do have one here kind of but I know a lot of people get hung up and oh I can't get to my laptop like I I don't really get that I've never needed I've never been caught in a laptop duel where I need to whip out my laptop like a six shooter style duel like in the western movies I have time to put the bag down move the straps put the laptop in I have time to put the bag down pop the two buckles if I need to get something on the inside but again like I said nothing about this bag is going to be quick access if you're trying to save the world and time is dependent on it probably not the bag for you on this side you have another zipper and that leads you into this big pocket with stretchy material now go Ru doesn't officially list this as an internal water bottle pocket but that's what pretty much everybody use it for and it's a big giant pocket it runs that deep as you can see my 32 oz mirror collab uh carology collaboration bottle fits right in there no problem so let's get into the interior of the bag all right to get into the interior of the bag you will have to undo the two FIT lock buckles open your flap and undo your draw string again nothing quick about this bag but this is an excellent bag that doesn't take away to the functionality so we're going to go over to overhead camera so we can try to get a peak of the inside it's going to be a little bit difficult because it's a a big hold in there but let's see if we can do that okay so now overhead camera as you can see you have a nice speed gray lining again uh rip stop material the robot rip stop on the inside uh you just have a big cavity basically uh you do have one stretch pocket up front and a zipper pocket right here it's got some mesh little bit of expansion and I do like that they use a different color so you can kind of see what's down in the bag I'm glad they didn't make it black but as you can see you got a lot of room there and then on the lid on the lid you'd have another zippered pocket up top with your go rug branding up here tells you what bag it is and the leiters and inside you have a key leash so this one is kind of a question for me I appreciate that they included the key leash but it it's on the inside of the lid so to get your keys you'd have to undo the buckles open the lid unzip the pocket and get the key you have a kind of quick access pocket right here I think this would have been a better spot for the key leash or even in this big pocket have a key leash come out here so you can swing the bag over and easily get your keys but it goes back there's nothing fast about this bag but I still love it so I've actually been using this bag every day for the last two months and I freaking love it so let's load it up with my actual Loadout to see what this bag looks like and how it packs so I'm going to start undo the buckles open the flat undo the drawstring and then start loading this bag out so I always start with the water bottle first first because that's going to set the tone for the inside of the bag because it is an internal water bottle pocket it does eat at the inside of space but this bag being 14 1/2 in Long kind of makes up for that it's a it's a wide bag but I think they did that to compensate for the bottle so 32 o mirr bottle right in the pocket then up front I have my Maxpedition EDC tool kit I got my flashlight all the tools that I use daily right up top load that in there I have my ever Goods cap one in here I have my dental floss uh more dental hygiene stuff I do have Invisalign so I like to clean my teeth after I eat that's going to go right up top next to the max Edition fatty pouch and we'll zip that right up so being a topl loader is a little difficult to film but I'm going to try my best I I got the I got the water bottle in there and next I'll do my lunch meal prep fruit couple of drinks Gatorade I carry this actual lunch bag it's going to sit in there really nice right next to the water bottle next let's do my iPad in the stretch flat pocket up front right in there in the zipper pocket I do my notebook I normally carry a cat too but I've been testing the tomt T light T12 and I got a future video coming on this thing but this thing has been very very nice we're going to put that all my tech Chargers cables everything in here right up top above my lunch and sometimes the office gets a little chilly so I always carry a light jacket and that's going to go right up top and that's my load out for the main compartment so I will cinch up the drawstring lock it into place put the straps right there now up top in this mesh pocket here I put my Med pouch like I told you I carry the thing everywhere everywhere if I go B pouch goes I'm old need it that stay is right there and that's about the only thing I carry in that pocket I don't put my keys on the leash on there so we're done cinched up pocket loaded flap over Buckle it up so this being a 21 L bag it holds a little bit more and you also have some expansion as you can see here that these can expand up so you could go up which I've had to do several times really load this thing out the downside is that this webbing being brand new it's a little bit hard to adjust but it's not impossible but maybe over time with multiple adjustments it'll break in I've only had to do it three times in the last two months so I had to really sit there and adjust the buckles but it's nice to it's really nice to have that option just on the day where you got to carry a little bit extra to have that so continuing the load out get the laptop got the 13inch MacBook Pro we're going to put that right in there and then on this admin pocket here with these two stretch pockets that's where I keep my airpods wallet and this is where I actually put my keys because it gives me a better access to them when I need them and I don't have to undo the buckles to get it out of the inside of the lid all that's and I still there's still plenty of room in there to fit other things but that's all I really carry on a daily basis and there it is as somebody who likes the form factor I love the internal bottle pocket even on bags that have external bottle Pockets I tend to carry the bottle on the inside I really like to keep the bag silhouette very nice and this bag does that for you everything's loaded out for my entire day and the bag looks really great in my opinion now when this weight when it's loaded up the harness system on this with these beefy straps and the sternum strap everything rides is really comfortable I know that some people this may not work for them but I am one of the ones where the go rock harness system is very very very comfortable the straps I mean when they're on your shoulders they feel like this bag is not going nowhere and this is a pretty heavy load out considering to have a full bottle and the full meal prep with the ice pack and everything it's got some pretty pretty good weight for an EDC bag and it's almost like a mini Ruck but this harness system is super super super comfortable and as you can tell so like I said being a Toploader with fidlock buckles internal water bottle pocket this is a an outlier in go ru's lineup cuz most go Ru bags don't have fidlock buckles a lot of them don't have water bottle pocket and this nice padded handle like everything about this bag is very very different from the current offer and this is why this is my favorite go Ruck bag if you made it this subject because worth is different for everybody but this comes in at about $245 I believe at the time of filming I really really really think this bag is worth it the Rob Rook material added weathered resistance the premium um components on the bag with fid loocks YKK zippers the beefy Harness System that's just so so so comfortable like and this pack like all of G rug's bags are backed by the Scar's lifetime warranty and arguably the best warranty in the game right now if they make it they'll repair it I can't think of a better warranty out there besides the Scar's lifetime warranty and you're going to have that protection so having this pack you know you're well protected for the life of the Pack Go Ru makes very expensive bags and this is at the bottom end of their lineup you know your gr2 your gr1s can hit $ 400 plus dollars this one being about 255 and you can catch them on sale like if you were to pick up the title blue one right now you can get that one for 135 bucks it's a great bag if you're curious about it I say go for it top loaders get a lot of hate I see that on online all the time but I like interacting with the bag I really enjoy it I like having to mess with the buckles the drawstring open the flap like I like working with the bag I'm not in a hurry where I need to access things and you know quickly so for me this is a great bag I get to handle the bag I get to work the bag it's very tactile and I really really really enjoy that um do you own this bag I would love to hear your experience what are your thoughts are you looking forward for the M24 that should be coming out pretty soon any day now I wonder what additions the M24 will have over this because this was a big improvement over the M22 curious to see so get what do you guys think do
