imagine heading out for a nice sunday afternoon stroll around the river when suddenly you come across something as heart-stopping as this i don't know about you but i think i'd turn and run in the opposite direction to find out exactly what was lurking beneath those murky waters plus a whole host of things that'll make your eyeballs pop right out of your head just stick around for this episode of things you'll see for the first time in your life [Music] big cats are some of the most impressive creatures in the world these regal wild predators are pretty unmatched when it comes to their strength and agility and just when you thought they couldn't get any cooler they do stuff like this the star of this jaw dropping clip is a bobcat that was filmed on the 15th of april 2020 by people fishing for blue crab near pecan island louisiana these elusive cats are mostly nocturnal so when the cameraman spotted this one balancing precariously on the weir he reached for his phone thinking the cat was about to get wet but instead this graceful bobcat composes itself and leaps across the weir making one seriously impressive junk look incredibly easy according to laurel series a wildlife biologist at the university of cape town and project coordinator at the urban caracao project bobcats can easily jump several meters these big cats are known for being incredibly agile and their leaps can also reach as high as 12 feet bobcats have often been observed hunting near bodies of water for waterfowl so it's possible this guy was just looking for his next meal when the daunting gap got in the way how far are you prepared to jump for your favorite snack would it be too much of a leap to assume you've never seen a bobcat or any animal jump like that before if you want to keep your brain fed and your eyes widened by a whole host of fresh sites like this one you know what to do just smash those like and subscribe buttons it's really that easy all done alright let's dive back in they say dogs are a man's best friend while cats get a reputation for being lazy unbothered creatures well i hear that criticism and i raise you gary the adventure cat this super chilled out maggie is a six-year-old domestic longhair who was adopted by his mom and dad james when he was just four months old when gary was first found by animal control he had been hit by a car and he had to undergo a femoral head ostectomy at the shelter to remove one of his hips but gary swapped his rocky start in life for a life spent adventuring through the canadian rockies with his new owners his parents first trained him how to walk outside on a leash and since then this outgoing feline has enjoyed a life so packed full of adventure that any human would be jealous on his instagram page at great grams of gary where he is amassed almost 240 000 followers gary can be seen hiking through the mountains exploring frozen lakes and even skiing and looking great while doing it now that's what i call one seriously cool cat what's the cutest animal you've ever laid eyes on a tiny kitten perhaps or a little baby duckling well you can forget about all of those as i introduce you to the most adorable creature you probably never knew existed it just sucks milk out of my hand because the mother doesn't have any teeth this bundle of pure joy is a baby's short beaked echidna which is better known as brace yourselves for a cuteness overload a puggle in case you didn't know echidnas sometimes known as spiny anteaters are the only mammals other than a platypus that are known to lay eggs according to simon duffy head of wildlife conservation at taronga zoo in sydney australia which has reared many puzzles echidnas are incredibly secret of animals who have traditionally been very hard to breed in zoos because not much is known about their mating habits like kangaroos these quirky little creatures also have a special nurturing pouch for their babies warm-blooded echidna puggles hatch from eggs about 10 days after birth and spend another 40 days inside the mother's pouch the particular puggle in this video was left to fend for itself after slipping out of its mother's pouch onto a walking track luckily the team at taranga were on hand to nurture this little cutie back to health again i think i just found my new unhealthy obsession i don't know about you but i could spend hours laying on the grass and watching the clowns above if you're lucky you might spot some odd shapes like a cat or a ghostly face but if you were to hang around watching the clouds for long enough you could capture something really awesome like this this incredible time lapse was created by amateur photographer bartos waczynski and shows the seamless day-to-night transition of a lenticular cloud over mount teed a volcanic mountain in the canary islands a lenticular cloud is formed when air blows across a hill or mountain range which in certain circumstances can create a train of large standing waves in the air downstream almost like ripples forming on a river when the water flows over an obstruction if there's enough moisture in the air the rising motion of the wave will cause water vapor to condense forming the unique appearance of a lenticular cloud but as the moist air moves back down through the waves these clouds can often evaporate right back into vapor disappearing as quickly as they formed for these reasons as well as their characteristic lens shape and smooth edges lenticular clouds have been sometimes mistaken for ufos who's going to tell the area 52 enthusiasts that they've been obsessing over clouds all this time moths and butterflies have some of the most beautiful markings in the animal kingdom but what do you make of this intriguing appearance what you're looking at here is the macrocylix maya a moth native to southeastern asia which has developed a rather unique defense against predators it may look like the once pristine white moth has unwittingly been hanging around on a bird's favorite pooping leaf but the twist is that's exactly the point what's more that isn't even real poop in fact this is the leonardo da vinci of moths because that disgusting scene has been painted on by years of careful evolution those two brown dots which could be mistaken for bird guano as well as the two red-eyed flies that appear to be feasting on it are simply elaborate markings the moth has developed to save its own bacon you see many of the moss natural predators will avoid eating insects that feast on bird droppings as they associate them with potential disease if this visual representation of flies on poop wasn't gross enough the moth also reportedly gives off a pungent smell that could be mistaken for actual guano now that's what i call commitment it's hard to imagine what life would be like if dinosaurs still walked among us but there are some living creatures that could probably give those prehistoric beasts a run for their money if you ever came across the shoebill stork and the swamps of eastern tropical africa you'd probably think he'd stumbled onto the set of the next jurassic park movie these enormous creatures look more like animatronic puppets from a tim burton creation than actual birds and they've got one terrifying face to boot usually they use that big ol beak to prey on big fish like long fish eels and catfish but they have also been known to chow down on nile monitor lizards snakes and even baby crocodiles the stork will stand motionless like a statue waiting for its next meal to swim by before bouncing forward with its massive bill wide open and engulfing it after clamping down on its spray the bird will then swing its head back and forth tipping out whatever stuff it doesn't want to eat what's more these bad boys can grow up to five feet tall that's bigger than most of my exes if you want a reason to be less frightened of the shoebill stork get this they literally poop all over their own legs like many birds their poop is mostly liquid and heat from the warm blood passing through their legs is used to evaporate the poop resulting in cooler blood circulating through the stork i guess that's one more efficient alternative to turning the ac on are you a thrill seeker what's the craziest thing you've ever done whatever it is i'm willing to bet it's not quite as heart-stopping as this the incredibly brave soul in this stomach churning clip is 25 year old influencer andrea badendick from norway i'm sure you've all heard of bungee jumping before but the lingan fjord bungie takes that extreme sport and somehow makes it even more extreme here a spectacular truss bridge spans across what used to be the best kept secret in tourist norway the corsa gorge anyone with big enough kahuluis to jumping from here will find themselves plunging from the deepest canyon in northern europe 153 meters deep to be precise if the roar of the waterfall and the whooshing of the wind in your ears wasn't enough to get your blood pumping check it out andrea literally jumped into a rainbow i wonder if she found a pot of gold at the bottom we've all seen a pig before after all farmyard animals and their sounds are some of the earliest things we learn about as kids so everyone knows that these oinking animals are white and fluffy right don't believe me just check it out for yourself before you start questioning everything you thought you knew you should know that this woolly swine belongs to a particular species known as mangalica pigs they may look like a farmer left a pig in a sheep and a pen together for too long but these adorably fuzzy creatures have actually been described as being closer to a dog in nature because they're so easily domesticated can you imagine taming one of these bad boys and cozying up to it on the sofa this hungarian breed tragically faced extinction and practically disappeared when its homeland was encountering communism because eating mangalica pigs was seen as a bad habit but in 1991 after the fall of the berlin wall animal geneticist peter toth decided to buy all of hungary's remaining mangalica pigs and rescue the species from destruction via an emergency breeding plan nowadays keeping mangalica pigs has become a popular hobby and over 7 000 sows in hungary are producing around 60 000 piglets a year aren't you glad these hybrid farmyard cuties stuck around all right let's give our eyes a break from bulging out of our heads for a sec i want to ask you guys if you might have seen something others probably haven't you know anything weird wonderful or downright amazing that should be totally shared with the internet send any footage or images you find online to clips at bmas.com and you might even earn yourself a shout out if it gets featured in the next episode now let's get back to it ever found yourself swimming in a lake only to be hit by a sudden wave of panic about what kind of nefarious creatures could be lurking in the depths below usually there's no real need to be afraid but would you dare to swim in this river what could be causing such a commotion in these otherwise peaceful waters is a bunch of hippos farting in unison a horde of hungry piranhas or a bonafide sea monster that could rival nessie the answer i'm afraid is just a sinister but for very different reasons the woman who filmed this bizarre clip on the 10th of june 2017 at st john's river in debary florida says that her husband was bailing water out of their boat after a huge storm when the river suddenly became animated as the splashes hit the surface they could hardly believe their eyes so the man threw another bucket of water in to capture the event on camera when the clip was first uploaded the filmers claimed that they still had no idea what had caused the commotion but some eagle-eyed viewers who studied the clip more closely were able to reveal the truth the manic splashing you see was actually caused by a herd of docile manatees or sea cows who were distressed by the ripples on the surface of the water although it's hard to tell whether the manatees were harmed by whatever was being thrown into the river many still fumed at the apparent mistreatment of the creatures you see manatees are actually a protected species in the u.s and harassing them even by mistake is considered a crime anyone who violates the state law protecting manatees could face up to 60 days in prison and a 500 dollar fine while federal penalties include up to a year in prison and a 50 000 fine talk about water torture you probably think that trees aren't all that interesting but i think it's about time i prove it wrong take one look at the trunk of the tibetan cherry tree and i guarantee you'll be transfixed believe it or not these stunning metallic-looking trees are not actually made of copper otherwise known as prunus cerulla the tree which is native to china is known for its spectacular bark the burnish mahogany color stems are totally unique and glisten throughout all season the outer layer of the bark is tough and strong like milor a type of polyester film and as the tree ages it peels away in bands creating an attractive effect which makes them particularly stunning in the winter months autumn also sees the arrival of small cherry-like fruits which are a great natural bird feeder i don't know about you but i'd never leave my garden if it was full of these eye-catching trees anyone who owns horses will know that these powerful animals require a whole lot of maintenance but who knew it could be so satisfying to watch the horse in this video is penny the belgian draft mare who lives with her owner myra at ranch of rescued hope in northern wisconsin as you can see penny is enjoying a nice relaxing brush which should be part of a horse's daily routine you'll also notice that lots of dead excess hair is easily removed by the repetitive brushing motion which helps to keep her coat nice and shiny brushes like this one are used in the direction of the horse's hair growth usually in short strokes from front to back except at the flanks where the hind legs and the barrel meet where the hair grows in a different pattern just like humans horses love a bit of tlc and will often signal their pleasure during grooming time by screwing up their upper lip arching their back or stretching their neck when you hit an itchy spot they may look intimidating but deep down these brawny stallions are really just big puppies there's some pretty enormous sculptures in the world including the statue of liberty christ the redeemer and believe it or not michelangelo's david but have you ever laid eyes on the world's biggest bird sculpture before this gargantuan avian statue can be found in the idyllic setting of the column district kerala in india it's known as chattahoo earth center nature park and it's a pretty incredible feat of human ingenuity the park stands at an altitude of 1200 feet above sea level and the jewel in its crown is the bird itself which is modeled after the chatayu and ramayana a hindu epic chattaiw is a demigod and divine bird who fought valiantly for the protection of sita daughter of the earth goddess broomy before falling on the rocks in the village of chattayamangalam the sculpture which was created as a tribute to this fallen legend measures a massive 200 feet long and 150 feet wide is 70 feet in height and occupies 15 000 square foot of floor area it was sculpted by film directors screenwriter and sculptor rajiv ankal and took 10 years to complete before the park finally opened to visitors on the 17th of august 2018. visitors must use a cable car to reach the park but once there they can walk over its outstretched wings and climb over its enormous talons and head can you imagine if this thing just came to life and flew off one day you've probably heard of the seven wonders of the world before only one entrant to the original list the great pyramids of giza are still standing today while a more updated version now includes the taj mahal machu picchu and the great wall of china but here's a possible contender for the 8th spot that you've probably never heard of before the flying lake it may look like a work of fiction but this breathtaking destination is real the mind-bending lake also known as servoxvia can be found in the trail of nepal cliffs on the island of vigar in the pharaoh islands of denmark the lake is located about 40 meters above the surface of the atlantic ocean and is surrounded by a higher cliff which prevents it from emptying fully into the sea the greater height of the cliffs on either side of the boss fadal of a sewer waterfall the lake's outlet gives the incredible illusion that the lake is far higher than it really is from certain perspectives the location may be stunning to look at but its history is a little less pleasant in fact trelanipa cliffs translates to slave cliff because the location used to be where viking settlers would push enslaved women from ireland and scotland 465 feet down into the sea below how charming ever wondered how aerial firefighters fill up on water when they're running on empty after all they can hardly afford to weigh their helicopters down with gallons and gallons of liquid well here's your answer you probably didn't know this but in emergency situations all fire departments are legally allowed to pull water from private swimming pools to help them fight fires it's usually only done as a last resort but after spotting the pool from above the pilot can make their descent and fill up using a large expandable bucket but you don't have to comply helicopters pilots have great situational awareness so simply walking toward the helicopter and waving your arms in a go away fashion will be enough to communicate your objection the particular operation in this video was filmed in braga portugal by a neighbor back in 2011 who actually ended up making friends with the dude flying the helicopter the pilot who also captured the event from his perspective using a gopro was returning to the airfield from another bushfire when he saw the initial column of smoke using his initiative he used the nearest swimming pool inside to help fight the fire before it got too close to the houses in total he made around 25 refills with a 600 liter bucket and by the time the fire truck arrived 20 minutes later the fire had been totally extinguished apparently the pool's owner is also entitled to compensation for damages or lost water should they choose to file a complaint with the civil defense i wonder if anyone has ever tried using an emergency helicopter to empty someone's pool just to fill their own now that would be a plot twist which of these things impressed or amazed you the most if you're not quite done getting your fix why not go ahead and check out one of the previous episodes of this series next and don't forget to get in touch with us at clips thanks for watching
