This feral pig lost his mom. A woman (and her dog) adopted him.

look at these little noses he was a little orphan found all alone i decided to adopt him hi i'm rebecca and this is arthur's story for geo beats arthur came into my life as a little baby look at that little boy walking out of the east [Music] we're on the big island of hawaii he was found all alone by a friend of a friend in hilo there was no other pigs around no mother pig around let's try it it's common that the orphan piglets are found because a lot of people here hunt the pigs it's not likely arthur would have survived on his own with all the dogs that we have around here is that your downward pig [Music] arthur's personality is really funny he's very sweet and affectionate but he's also playful and he can be naughty if he was in the wild he'd be very close with his mother and cuddling a lot and nursing to try to mimic that i actually made a baby sling with a towel so he could hear my heartbeat i used to be a nanny and helped raise a lot of people's babies and it's really the same thing he just felt so safe and comforted he would snuggle and go to sleep i refer to him and my dog mojo as my sons they're like my children it's really hilarious because mojo is a small dog he's only about 12 pounds and arthur of course has surpassed mojo in size but he still looks up to him as the big brother he treats mojo like the herd leader and it's been that way since we brought him home when he was a tiny little pig she just wanted to be wherever mojo was if mojo got too far ahead arthur would start squealing and crying and run to want to catch up and be right near mojo they play just how you would see two dogs playing together he makes all these different sounds he'll have these high-pitched chirps when he's being sweet [Music] when he's really happy he makes this noise that sounds like a gorilla like hooting and if he's mad or not getting his way he'll kind of whine and sounds like a human toddler he wags his tail too look at that tail wagon the first time he heard live music my partner was drumming and he started wagging his tail so fast and then he almost looked like he was dancing i see a taily wagger he does know a couple of commands go to the spot he knows go to your spot good boy do you know circle circle good boy get back [Music] get back good boy sit oh you almost got it another command i've taught him is gentle so instead of grabbing the food with his teeth he'll use his lips and take the food very softly from my hand are you hungry before arthur i had fostered another little orphan pig named winston and that's how i fell in love with pigs [Music] winston got adopted and i just felt like i had a huge hole in my heart and then arthur was found who's that hi here in hawaii feral pigs are considered invasive they're demonized a lot of people here really hate the pigs but i think we can live in harmony with them they were introduced here by people and they just want to live and survive i had some people not too long ago they are doing an easter egg hunt on a property next to mine arthur and mojo ran up to the fence wagging their tail to see the children and the children wanted to come greet them and the parents said oh no no it's a wild pig get away get away i went over here and said no he's very friendly you don't have to be scared arthur's about a year old now weighs around 70 pounds when he's full grown he will be about 300 pounds so i won't be picking him up anymore but he'll be my baby at this point he lives outside he has his own pasture that i fenced off a part of my backyard where he lives and he has his own piggy house arthur if i'm fixing something in his pen i will let him sleep inside under my bed that's a special treat for him because when he was a baby he did live inside but as he got bigger he just got too curious and wanted to wrap everything in the house don't eat the butt no when we first transitioned archer to sleeping outside it was a bit like leaning a toddler out of your bed he cried a lot at night [Music] i actually made him a lullaby that i've been singing and playing on the ukulele ever since he was a little baby so that first week when he was having a hard time being outside i would go and reassure him and rub his belly and sing his lullaby and he loved it and then he would just calm down and go to sleep he loves digging about half of his pen he's turned into a swamp like his personal swamp arthur he's very curious i've discovered that he really hates mystery so if there's any container or bag of stuff or a dresser or cabinets or a flower pot he wants to just get all the contents out of it what's that arthur i think he is smarter than the dog i got this dog treat puzzle mojo wasn't interested in it but arthur went to this puzzle right away and in less than two minutes he figured out the whole puzzle and got all the food out and i can't find a puzzle now that's good enough for him what's that you go on they're so smart if he's chewing on my fruit tree i'll tell him no arthur and then he'll just flop over for a belly rub daddy got me snacking i love him so much when i leave for work i miss him i'm really excited to come home and see him did you have an avocado once you get to know a pig they're very similar to a dog who is that boy when i play the ukulele the hairs on his neck will raise up his mohawk will stick up my baby boy they want to love they want to play they want to eat good food i can't imagine my life now without arthur [Music]
