[Music] [Music] what's up guys later Chen here welcome to another episode of hoonigan autofocus we are out here at Johnson Valley for king of the hammers and one of my favorite things to do is to kind of drive around and see the awesome builds that are just kind of hanging out this thing really stopped me in my tracks it was at the Yokohama Tire booth we got the owner here Alex what's up what are you guys are you thanks for bringing this thing out Alex actually is kind of youtube famous right a little bit what were you thinking I'm not good at math so we were filming a video for my friends off road shop we were trying to get a good clean jump over it and I practiced it a couple of times so I did practice just FYI and light was getting dark and wasn't much visible light anymore so they just said gun it and I hit it and the rest is YouTube famous at that point you had these stock trucks now you're gonna step it up to the next level and you're gonna build these awesome trucks and you actually are a racer I've done ultra for for a few years now moved up into 6100 class Hamburg engineering built me a 6100 couple years ago so we're doing best in the desert all this year and they are actually in the process of building me a four-wheel-drive trophy truck so that'll be a first for them but super excited about that the livery on your 4400 truck is actually very very unique and its famous and I actually remember photographing that thing many times yeah it gives us a lot of laughs when you drive by we're actually here to talk about your luxury prerunner you can definitely call it luxury prerunner it has air conditioning and heat it has a very large navigation screen so you can see what you're doing / if you wanted to upload a video you could watch a video on it as well we're getting it ready for the Nora 1000 so Yokohama came on board and there's actually the one of the title sponsors for it so super excited with having them onboard definitely call it a luxury prerunner still street-legal will be tagged here shortly so see me in North Texas driving it around wait it's street-legal in Texas in Texas it's street legal in all 50 states actually so yeah gonna get empty plates for it and it's got blinkers brake lights everything that you could possibly need windshield Texas doesn't require wipers I've looked into it already but we're gonna put them on there anyways because there's a lot of rain in Texas what year is this truck truck is a 73 Ford f100 it started as your basic extended cab f100 and we bought it off of some guys in Yuma that we're gonna do the scissor suspension on the front of it and we were gonna basically modify off of what they had and we just went to the full extreme the other way on it and had tribe 16 do their magic on it with cambric parts and a bunch of other sponsors obviously methods one of our longtime sponsors that's helped out a lot so and we can custom paint a green that's kind of our colors are green and grey sitting at about 23 24 inches of travel in the front and about 28 inches of travel in the rear brakes are excessively well done where it almost feels like the ass is gonna come around the front bar designs came through in a big way with all the lighting that they've put onto it we got LP sixes and just the whole grills done they also do a custom green light in it so back lights what actually is left from the f100 on this cabin the mirrors that's pretty much about it the doors everything from the front glass to the rear glass is pretty much the factory metal left everything else has been custom done like I said by tribe 16 is there any of the stock frame left on this thing maybe two feet that's about it honestly Wow in terms of prerunners like this is the real deal it's hiding so much oh yeah right I mean I can just look peer under here right and just see all this crazy metal fabrication and all the inner workings just from painter my head down I love it so let's just kind of do a walk around from the outside sure I kind of love also the fact that you pretty much kept the stock manners right yeah they keep the stock mirrors on it stock door handles obviously to get in and out of the car we still want to lock it because it is free legal so I want to make sure people can't steal it you know I've attachable steering wheel so good luck with that one if you can figure that out we redid inside all the doors did all-new metal doors inside of here like I said you got your nav screen in there did the custom tunnel work all the dash work it still has roll-up windows though it still has roll-up windows that work tints a little bit bad so that's part of the still to-do list it's not it's about 95 percent done we still have a little bit more work to do on it but we wanted it out here to show off and have fun we have to do some suspension tuning like I said get ready for Mexico in a couple months from far away you kind of still want it to look like f100 oh yeah definitely it has that stock appeal that I love about the older trucks I've always been a big Ford fan so I definitely has you know have the Raptor so I've been a Ford fan for a while now but when people get up close to it and it doesn't matter what age group anybody's in they all look at it and realize there's something different and then they get that up-close look and they're like what did you do to your truck it's like walk around it you tell me what you think of it so it's definitely it's definitely custom built 70 gallon fuel tank in the rear you got your two 37 inch spare tire holders in the back I just can't believe that you could drive this on the street with this whole setup as it is that is one thing I love about Texas is pretty much as long as you abide by their specific laws this is still street-legal so and I'm not gonna complain about that one bit at all I love the fact that I can drive this down to in Texas we have water burgers so go to water burger and go through drive-thru and get the most Awkward looks but most people are stopping you trying to get photos and telling you hey pull around front we want to quick take photos of the inside of it so this gets more attention than pretty much any exotic that I know of well we love that oh yeah I definitely like the what a burger patty male 3 hanage this cooling system is pretty intense too I mean this is seriously for desert raising oh yeah we like I said the Nora 1000 is a legitimate between 890 to 1100 mile race that's broken up into days where you race during the day and you fix that night so it's not the Baja 1000 per se where it's a continuous you start and you finish at the end one day race but we wanted to make sure that everything was kept as cool and as well running as possible to be able to do that race this is all like in case you get hit from behind you can replace that easily okay and all of your spares everything is gonna be here right we'll have all the oil and radiator fluid in there we're going to custom paint this that match the green but we're gonna put all your spare belts steering pump water pump all that to fit in there so that way you don't have it inside the cab but we also because it is a race that is fun we had a tribe set it up where we can put a cooler inside so that way you can drink water while you're racing a lot of people don't understand it's like hey why do you put these on if you're doing some kind of qualifying or anything like that but you actually run faster with more way in the back right you do run faster plus the way you race is you have your weight set up and you have your suspension set up so you need the weight in there the way you would be racing because if you took off each one of these rims and tires they way each one weighs about 132 pounds so you're talking almost two hundred and fifty pounds difference off the rear end of it now so it'll be lighter so it'll kick differently you won't be able to pitch it the same so you have to you have to run it the way you would usually run it this really is the part that really stopped me in my tracks when I came across it usually with free runners you see them and then they have like this crazy LED light bar up top right and you really went out of your way to hide all of that to kind of keep that nostalgic look of the f-100 we have a bunch of the baja designs the s2 sports that are for your driving lights and then you have your 10 inch bars in the middle like I said inside of these there's little green back le'ts to kind of accent which was very nice of them to do for us but we also have sts underneath the covers for your blinkers and there's also blinkers integrated into the LP sixes as well so what we're gonna do is we're gonna get the factory glass to diffuse a little bit more of this just to show off and make it look as like you said nostalgic as possible but when it's dark out these lights are amazing and I can easily see 250 300 yards away is this original actually off the truck this is the actual original grille the hood is fiberglass the slides are fiberglass but this is the original factory grille that we got from the gentleman in Yuma Wow okay so it's really really really far back then yeah we tried getting the weight is far back over the front axle so that way with upper and lower control arms you get as much clearance as possible it's crazy to me because the bump stop is almost like where the normal engine would be like it's just the this is the this is the magic right here I mean this is the chassis and you can see the motor back there so is that just like a crate motor that you guys put in there it is a crate LSX 454 so when we download it it did a little under 432 the rear wheels so it's not excessive but you don't need excessive for long races you get too much horsepower you just blow out the rear tires and the sandy stuff so it works for what we wanted to do and there's always more room you can put a bigger cam in and porting polish heads so but it for right now when we had it built we figured this was the easiest way to get where we wanted to get number-wise to have a reliable fun truck to have so plus it sounds good so I can't complain about that and I really like this intake setup that you guys have over here that's a serious air filter half due for when you go through all the silty stuff yeah so there's there's a lot of dust and grime that kicks up when you're doing off-road race and tell me a little bit about this is the AC condenser over here yes there's a setup that they run in like ambulances and fire trucks it's AC / heat so well you said for having that everyday it's going racing but it's everyday - gonna pick its kid up from school and stuff and so having that luxury of rolling up the windows and turn on the AC and the Texas heat is nice so you have the radiator move back the AC condenser in the front so it's more room but still not smashing right anything and then as you're seeing with the air filter it's easy to change it's right there big and easy to pull out so mid race if you gotta change it you can so what are the coolers in the back then coolers in the back or power steering transmission and also for the motor as well so there's multiple coolers for all the various parts of the vehicle and the way they built it is the way they usually designed they're forty four hundred and forty five hundred ultra four buggies so they they know what works what doesn't work transmissions especially in racing get heat soak very quickly so you have to have very large very well-built coolers the nice thing about being in the rear is is it gets all that fresh air without all the dust and the dirt hitting into it like most cars up front do Josh was pointing some little things out that is really cool on here that I've actually never seen so they actually relocated the brake booster that's the original Ford f-100 one came with the idea and he's like hey I think we move it in the back it'll get the flow with everything just coming back more room in the front and then you still have the wool would set up in the front and it just it actually works out great to where when you stomp on the brakes this thing just drops to the front it's almost feel like it's gonna flip over just like you said with everything was meticulous of picking out where the lights go and everything keeping this much candy scene on the back take regular oh this is that like is this the actual plastic plastic and then to use for brake lights and backup lights this is kind of one of those things that is very easy to overlook right so I didn't even think to look at this but you guys even went out of your way to do something special those like little hidden treasures that people get sometimes like in video games it's just one of those cool little things that most people wouldn't think to do but we have done it there's all these little details on this truck we got this double duty max tracks here what is this actually for so you don't normal mattracks O'Toole Drive truck and the silh you know you get stuck you can do it so you get stuck you can unpin it pull it off set it under there be able to get moving again well the hard thing normally when you put them up high is you got to climb all the way in the back of there so alex is like hey I got an idea let's put them over each side so co-driver can get out driver get out grab each one do it fast but also with the purpose of here is your tires now when they're flying up rocks it keeps them all here you don't break your regular window if you have it in or you're not shattered people's windows behind you it actually works as a inside fender as well this is all really utility in here it is we have PRP seats now Sparco just came on board they're gonna be we're gonna be changing out these seats to some spark oohs but PRP makes a great product as well race radios intercoms for the people when you're driving because it is loud in here you have air conditioning you have your blinkers yeah if you start ignition all your driving lights you have your obviously your AC and heat events here here's your GPS system and then on both sides you have your holley efi systems that give you pretty much full control of the motor it gives you all data readings data logging in miles per hour rpm all that so it's a it's a very good easy-to-use system that works really really well we have a full fire suppression system in here that way if things do go bad it'll spray inside the motor and in the cab as well what transmission are you running on this we are running a turbo 400 yeah it's the old it's a it's an old transmission we borrow it off of a buggy that we used to have it so it's a turbo 400 there's just so many little things that I love about this setup like these are the turn signal indicators right yep and then this is the high beam indicator yes and this is what really gets me I love the way that the steering wheel goes up and down it's just these holes its simplicity in design Doozer in fact where multiple people can use it and that's what we love and they listened and did a great job on that this is really cool too kind of same thing same little design feature so you push it and then you lock it into place where you want to see I love that I loved like simple things really like that and the cage work back here is something else too and you have a drink drink holders here oh yeah a drink holder we have a center console that we can put stuff in so it's definitely like you said it's a luxury prerunner where you can actually have fun but also be comfortable for daily driving and it you're not losing anything in that regard yeah I mean and you even have a glass windshield on too huh I do have a glass windshield glass and the doors will have lexan in the back here just like the rear window as well so and yeah Josh ready can crack the glass coming out here so we're very well known for if we don't break some sort of glass in a race we usually do bad so I guess that's our good luck is actually breaking glass which is kind of backwards for most people and it still uses the original key yep still uses the original key you can turn that on put that over to the ignition and then you just fire up by hitting a start button you had this vision for a while or we bought the truck mean atom a tribe had talked about it for a couple months and wanted to do something like this and the project took a little under two years to fully complete so like I said there's still a couple of minor little things so don't be too harsh out there but it's like I said it drives and it gets us where we need to go right now and we just wanted to have fun out here in hammers and do some suspension tuning while we're out here as well but show off what they can build and what all our great sponsors have helped out with as well and making this reality thank you for bringing this out we're gonna go for a ride right yeah definitely go for a ride oh wow this is comfy [Music] [Music] this is like the land yacht it cruises we hit over 80 miles per hour on that section right there and they're about what two feet whoops two and a half three foot whoops yeah two and a half three foot so if I tried that in my FJ I would have flipped after 50 feet thank you so much Alex for bringing this out for us yeah I just can't believe it I literally was walking by the Yokohama Tire booth and I saw this and it just it blew me away and now I'm even more blown away we have to come visit you in Texas I know you have a nice ranch where you can have a lot of fun on so we'll definitely come by busy you shoot a lot more of your toys comment below if you guys want to see that
