[Music] hey everybody I'm Giles and this is JDM world by this time you've probably seen a million videos on the clips RP 600m everybody has done one of these if anybody has a channel on YouTube about audio they've covered these and they've probably covered them six months ago and done two or three videos so I don't really need to tell you that these sound good because you know what they sound good I mean they're they're great the horn doesn't sound like you would expect the clips horn to sound especially if you're going to Best Buy and kind of listening to their lower tier stuff you know the mid bass and vocals are fat thick like honey and just they're awesome and then the low end just sucks right so in this video we're going to talk about some of the things that you need to do to make this speaker really appealing in your environment and for me I'm putting the these in my living room so I've got a television set up where the family gathers and we'd watch shows and we stream music and that kind of thing and this is gonna be the main speaker but you know these speakers by themselves they just don't do it I mean really I I wouldn't want them just as a pair of bookshelf speakers on their own but there are a few things that you can do and it doesn't take very much at all to make these really work in a living space so we're going to talk about some of the aesthetic things that you need to do and then just a handful of things that you need to do from audio point of view that makes these really awesome but first let's talk about the visuals right so you got to keep these things off the ground and I guess you could set them on a coffee table or you could set them on another speaker but for these I think they really deserve a set of nice dedicated speaker stands so I took a look around and there's tons and tons of options but I decided to go with a set of speaker stands from monoprice the in the mono lift line so we're just going to take a quick look at how to put those together [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] now let's talk a little bit about the sound we all know that the RP 600mm sounds great there are million videos that you can watch that talk about all the specs and sensitivity and how good they sound when you listen to different kind of musics and all this kind of stuff right but that's not what we're trying to accomplish here we want to take these things to the next level and what really takes these to the next level is one of these now if you've watched any of my channel before you know that I'm a huge starch sound fan and I'm building my entire theater in the basement around stark sound well I have a sub 35 from those guys that makes really really well with with these bookshelf speakers so understanding that the bookshelf speaker can only dig so low with this driver you need something like this now it doesn't have to be stark sound obviously it could be clip stranded or it could be a pull or it could be well a rel actually would look really good with these rail makes a really shiny piano black stuff with the crowns all over it they say I'm really good but they have this kind of aesthetic so it would be a really really good match now this one has the piano finish along the same lines as this however mine's in a red and it looks okay it would be better maybe if it were in a black as well but in any event this is gonna match aesthetically okay and then also from a sonic point of view this is super complementary to this now this guy is a single active 12-inch driver with to passive 12-inch radiators and it gets down pretty low I'll do a full review on this guy later to show you all the specs because I don't know that there's another review video about this one out there as opposed to these guys and like I said everybody of the brothers got one but we're gonna put these in and then we'll take a look at what this looks like so if you follow along with me we'll go through the process of putting these speakers on the new stands that we just built and putting this guy in beside of them so you can take a look at what this might look like in your home environment [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] now let's talk a little bit about speaker positioning now I don't want to get into a deep technical discussion about this that another but one thing that's gonna help you have a really good stereo image on these guys is really thinking about where you put them in the room now you're gonna typically have them in an environment like this with some type of screen in between the two speakers you want these to be at no more than 60 degrees from your main listening position so you'll be facing this way and then with a line in front of you 30 degrees this way is the maximum for your left and 30 degrees the other way it's the maximum from your right I believe that the minimum is minimum is 44 so 22 on each side of the line in front of you but that's going to give you the optimal for home theater usage now also you want to toe these in so there's lots of different ways that you can do this but when you point these back at the MLP are the main listening position I would say start with just pointing these right to where someone's head would be if they were sitting right in the middle of that set of seating then you can play with some extreme to--in and some not as wide toe in and see which one works better for you but I think a good way to start is make sure you have these wide enough that they're closer to that 60 degrees than the 44 degrees and then toe them in to point back to the MLP hopefully these tips help you take your RP 600 to the next level it's really amazing how just a few small things can take a speaker that's really really good and make it really really great now that being said these speakers really are awesome so I'm gonna make a couple more videos featuring them but really looking at what I need to add in the whole ecosystem of sound to create a whole system at a pretty decent price point that anyone would be happy to sit down and listen to so this is gonna be thinking through things like sources Dax amplification and maybe even a center channel I don't know we'll think about that one anyway thank you so much for watching the video if you enjoyed this one or if you've enjoyed any of the other videos I've made please tap that subscribe button or smash it or tell your friends to smash it or bring all your family I'd be happy with any of those things but please like and subscribe and drop a comment below - I'd really be interested in understanding what you've done to take this set of speakers or another set of speakers to that next level [Music]
