[Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] hello good evening ladies gentlemen everybody welcome to the long-awaited long overdue uh titanic honor and glory live stream um we have so much to tell you we've had a lot of changes recently a lot has happened over the last 10 years a lot more has happened over the last six months um but that just means lots of stuff to reveal lots of stuff to talk to you guys about um sorry for the slightly start late late start we of course had some technical difficulties what is a live stream without technical difficulties but we're all set up um my name by the way is james panka i got a little graphic for you i am the new creative director of titanic honor and glory um i've been with the project for the past since 2013. i was brought on to do some basic um voice over things here and there um and uh just making sure everything's everything's going well here making sure no one's sending me messages that nothing's working um all right um but i was i brought on in 2013 i did some basic um voice over stuff um started doing some writing here and there um but as of last year um i was sort of the head uh scriptwriter for the story mode me and tom were developing the story together um and i was the one putting it to paper and but perhaps you know me best as everyone's favorite british accent robin darcy from demo 3 and britannic patroness of the mediterranean my apologies to our british fans um but uh enough about me uh we have plenty to go over uh first thing we should talk about the first change to announce you guys it's already been talked about quite a bit from uh our side and and uh the other side um and that is if i'm the new creative director it means we have an old creative director tom linsky our leader for the past decade has stepped away from the project tom um is is very much responsible for um this game being where it is now um having the following that we have and so um we we do owe tom quite a bit and um [Music] uh about six months ago when all these changes started happening these changes that we're going to talk about tonight um it just seemed like the perfect time for tom uh uh to take a step back he had been thinking about it for a little bit he just got married he has all these projects you guys know you guys know tommy he's got a million projects going very ambitious guy so um it just seemed like a perfect time to take a step back and and focus on on all that stuff the other stuff in life not non-titanic things believe it or not those do exist for some of us but um so we wish tom the absolute best um we know there are a lot of rumors and a lot of fun stories out there that we hate tom and tom hates us and and he left because of uh but um the the honest truth is it was an amicable split it was the best thing for everybody um we are all still friends i talked to tom on the phone two nights ago um we're we're all cool with each other um and we truly wish tom and emma the best in fact we are going to um plug one of tom's projects later in the stream if i don't forget um but uh certainly follow him on part-time explorer on youtube he's still posting lots of great videos and uh some of our videos that have come off our youtube are going to go up on his youtube because they were his videos so we want him to retain his ownership of those videos so follow him on there um but that's the tom that's the tom portion of the evening um but tonight we are going to talk about the past the present and the future of thg so we are going to talk about literally everything to do with thg and we hope by the end of the stream uh all of you will feel this new sense of excitement that we have been feeling over the last few months um we've had the most productive time probably in the game's history just these last six months since we we moved in a new direction and and hopefully by the end of the stream you guys will feel that uh that way as well about titanic again so that's great um but i am not your only host this evening let me make sure i covered everything that i wanted to yes um oh wait not even looking at the right thing there we go uh yeah that's it okay so i have a host um with me here um we were having some technical difficulties bringing in people so um uh if the uh if it's jumpy if it's uh uh um something's wrong please let me know in the chat i have i have lots of people watching the chat to make sure that everything's great but let's let's attempt it let's bring on our other hosts for the evening this gentleman has been with the project much longer than myself he is a modeler and researcher and he and i will be um sort of teaming up to be a bit of a community front for you guys some man community managers to kind of be um your way into the project so this is and i believe the gentleman that came up with the title honor and glory if i'm not mistaken let's bring him in this is chris daley everybody hi chris hello uh good morning i should say because it's about 7 a.m where i am yes um you guys recognize me from uh some past streams that we've had particularly when we were traveling around the uk at the time in about 2018. i think 2017 possibly um so i've been part of the project since uh probably 2012 actually only one year before you james actually yeah yep so not that much longer but yeah still very much in the wings um so uh yeah before we get started uh for everyone watching the twitch and youtube streams if you have any questions now or any point throughout the stream feel free to write thg question in the chat followed by the question you wish to put to the team uh if we have time at the end of the stream we'll get through as many of your questions as possible uh with reddit too yes reddit as well um we will see how much time we have uh we want this to be like an hour i i like to talk a little bit though so it might be longer but um we will answer questions if we can and if not immediately after the stream maybe we can do some text based stuff so um amazing so we have chris here um uh chris we're talking about the past the present and the future would you like hold on let me get my graphic up here chris can't see my graphics but you guys can um we are now uh jumping into the past not everybody watching right now um has been with us throughout all of the last 10 years some of you may be watching a thg thing for the first time you've heard about this titanic game and you want to start following us and uh so let's just kind of crash course the last uh gosh uh ten years uh super super quick chris take it away yes we are we do understand that uh some of our viewers may be joining us the first time so we think it's appropriate that we get everyone caught up on the history of the project um so over a decade ago a bunch of us nerds or well i really should say it started with matt to be specific um we decided we wanted to uh faithfully recreate the rms titanic in its entirety so stem to stern the whole lot every room everything and this is something that we wanted to do for ourselves um that we have brought out into the world um we knew very little about video game design but we did know a lot about the ship a lot about the history uh enough about 3d ma 3d modelling to uh get us by so we thought we'd give it a shot and we've had uh two fundraising campaigns we've used two game engines uh three demos and one viral video and many many lessons learned um and we have found ourselves at uh a crossroads um so for a decade we'd planned a game of epic proportions for ourselves and all you fans um and all with the assumption that we would one day get a large investment that would come along to kind of make that that large scope a reality but as a lot of you know the investment search proved very difficult and lengthy and when covert hit the focus did change to uh families and finding a way to to just make it through these tough times really so that took priority over uh the development of the game and that kind of slowed to a crawl over the past year or so which brings us to about seven months ago that is right that's where i come back on screen um so yeah about seven months ago uh everything sort of took a turn in a good way um we were becoming more and more frustrated by the long wait i'm sort of off camera here um we were very frustrated with how long it was taking us to um get an investment and i can speak for myself at least chris i don't know what your experience was like with this but um i was writing the game script and i was a couple levels in maybe a couple hours of story mode in and i kind of had to stop writing because we didn't know technically what the dialogue system was really going to be like because we didn't know how many npcs we could handle because we didn't know how much money we would have it just we couldn't really progress until that big answer came in about about whether we were going to have money or not and it just got more and more frustrating and then in october of last year it just got to a point where we're watching our fan pages we're watching you guys dissolve into the same frustration that we were dissolving into everybody was um sick of it ourselves especially and so it became pretty clear and obvious either we cancel this whole thing or we refocus we completely completely turn this ship um and um that's what we picked obviously so um the next six months uh seven months now now that we're in april um we spent all this time coming up with our new our new direction and step one of that process is take the focus off investment no more side projects no more doing things that an investor might like let's make a game for the fans put the focus off investment and onto the fans where it should have been probably the whole time um step two uh would be cut unnecessary features we have a we made a list of things that we have planned in the past things that we were hoping to bring to you guys and a lot of them required investments they were so large but a lot of them were also just unnecessary in general you know you get excited and you add and you add and you add and it's um it's lots of fun but um what can we actually do on our own and what is actually gonna be fun and worth it um and so uh things like you know explore all of southampton 2200 npcs um just all these massive massive ideas um how do we rein those in and still make a game that is fun and the last step which is i think the most important is to focus on the heart of honor and glory to focus on the reason that we're all here in the first place the the reason that i joined in 2013 the reason you know the projects will start in the first place the reason um we all love this subject the reason i spent eight months building this stupid thing behind me and the reason you guys are still watching us in these videos we all love the titanic and that's why we're all here it's it's it's our thing so let's focus on that again let's focus on the ship again and so suddenly with these doing these things sort of lifted the weight off our shoulders and all of a sudden the creativity started flowing when when you actually have to um be creative because you have limitations it sometimes makes a creativity come out much more than if you have a lot of money and you can just throw money at it i mean you can see that if you play an indie game versus like a massive sometimes the people with more restriction they they have to be creative and therefore they are more creative and we have found these features that we are working on now are more exciting to us than anything we've worked on previously so um that being said i told you i like to talk um uh we got through that so yes we are here we we've talked about the past we are about to move on to the present so we can talk a bit more about some of the changes we've made our new team our team has expanded like crazy it's the greatest feeling in the world to be like welcoming new people in all the time um but before we move away from um the past officially we have made mistakes along the way along the the journey of these 10 years um there's lots of criticism of the project there's lots of rumors about the project some of them are not true some of them are very true so we want to address these really quickly let's all talk about it let's all get it out and um so when when i i press the button and i go to the the present slide that i made um hopefully we can all move to the present to this new era of thg and we can sort of move on from the last 10 years but especially the last year because it's been a really tough year for everybody in the world but our fans as well with this project so who better to talk about these things than someone who's been here before me before uh chris but matthew de winkler let's get everybody on screen look at all of our pretty faces oh boy oh boy hi there we are how are you hi everybody oh i'm doing fantastic i'm so excited to be here on titanic modern glory youtube page yes that's odd to say andrew hi everybody we're on twitter it's twitch page now we're on switch too i hope we're on twitch as well that's the button i pressed yeah um cool so uh we we put together a list of probably the most common complaints common criticisms rumors and all that and we're gonna we're gonna go through them matt's gonna talk about them and then after that we're gonna move on and talk about the team and then eventually in the stream we'll talk about all these new things that we're planning so right um he said you enjoyed rambling on get ready for me everybody oh boy we all know you've heard you've heard me a few times yeah so um so criticism numero uno um matt we have been working on this game for eight to ten years and we've made no progress haven't we we yeah we haven't had we um it has been eight to ten years though gosh it's been a huge portion of our lives but um you know for how many of us there are in the stuff we've had to learn along the way and the amount of titanic there actually is um and the in and outs of game develop development not to mention having jobs and family and outside lives being human beings i i i didn't think we did too bad actually um but that's that's me always defending my team and our work um but you know i'm i'm on the inside of the project i'm the one getting to view the progress in the daily updates and i believe that's where the actual problem lies not that we haven't made none or little progress on titanic since i see us working on the project every day um but that we don't report and tell our fans about that project that progress um you know and i'm happy now that we're finally getting people dedicated people with roles and responsibilities youtube guys um and more with the goal of creating content based around these updates you know yeah absolutely another criticism that has been raised to us is that the goals of the project are too lofty uh somewhere some of the some were incredibly lofty um james you you talked about that earlier and i argued for the longest time um i think many of us did that it's not always a bad thing what's the classic example that you expression that you tell your kids not that i have any kids um shoot for the stars and you'll land amongst the clouds i think that's what it is but uh again as you as you said earlier james we have to cut back now but since we're changing everything after a decade uh we have to alter the most lofty of those goals to be more realistic cutting the unnecessary features um cutting the investment features now yeah um yeah a lot of these uh criticisms are are things that i think we've already uh um addressed in in the last six months which is great but some of these um as we'll get to um some of them are definitely not um right because you don't need to clarify for sure because i i have notes so you know i want to i want to make sure that when we get to these that's that they're definitely we address them because there's a lot to apologize for um from the whole team um since we've we've made um kind of empty apologies before to try to it's to gloss over some stuff right um and i want to make sure that this this is when you guys now know that we're we're steadfast with our apology and we're we're learning from them so let's get let's keep going through the list guys this is fun this is fun this is fun this is great all right next one the team works on too many side projects yes um so besides titanic honor glory we did a number of other videos video you know animations sinking animations um and documentaries um we wanted to do a lot of historical recreations you know vintage digital revival um reviving history with in the digital recreations um but it was to also get our name out there to generate um revenue for the sake of thg um to uh creates connections to meet people to get possible investors and yes the the biggest criticism about all those um side projects was that they took time away from the time energy and sometimes money to create them from thg as as things often always do but going forward in our new our new roots we want to mostly keep our attention on thg the the game as a whole on to the next question um it is thought by some that the team is incompetent and inexperienced this is my favorite one yeah the team is you know um an experience to create this big game well it was a big game well yes we were inexperienced to in the beginning um i started modeling titanic before i could even legally buy alcohol you know i was just fresh out of high school and for those around the world i was you know that i was like 19 years old and one very wise advisor early on the project told me that no one will listen to you unless you have gray hairs in your beard um and you know we were just younglings um we had a lot to learn we were just nerds about titanic but over the years um uh we got kicked in the face again and again and finally it's time that we're hiring people with knowledge and experience and passion to create a video game project and you know we're not just focused about titanic we try to do that ourselves pre-funding to a point but um now that has to be our our main focus and um soon we're going to increase the number of full-time employees we're going to talk about that but we're going to increase them even more um but i want to say that's what we did create for thg in the past i think the work still speaks for itself because a lot of us had to learn you know modeling learn about titanic learn game development on ourselves i don't you know this is just me always wanting to defend the team that the team that we had i i think we still i think we still did a good job but um you know it's still it's still a learning process and we're we're now working on fixing that inexperience okay um next question thg mocks criticism and makes excuses uh they believe they know everything and won't disclose their conclusion i i have to take a sigh first um this this is um this is this criticism is well ironically true because it's it's criticism that we're we're not good at handling so it's it's criticism it's criticism that we're not good at handling criticism and it's a tough one to swallow um uh myself and others on the team have have said a lot and trying to defend our work um our team's work and it wasn't ever meant to come off as um malicious uh or nasty but it it wasn't handled well and um at times and and i have to stress how sorry we are about that we are going to make sure that moving forward we're going to avoid avoid this so there's there's no confusion in how we um are going to be able to we're going to accept criticism um uh but you know the the secrecy thing that's um i really want to address too um you know sometimes i've i've said this many times in the past sometimes things are shared about titanic and confidence from um you know historians or people who have resources which they were very generous with us um but that happens less than the main reason why we were very secretive during the pro the project um you know we're obviously i i think i hit hard how proud we are of the work that we did and we sometimes always or something always desired to especially when the demos were free to keep certain aspects close to our heart until we crossed the finish line we didn't want to give away the whole titanic we didn't want to spoil things you know we we had us we had a live stream where we were showing off the mega demo um once the our big collection of rooms that we had um worked on and almost finished but we we went to the first class lounge but we didn't want to show the first class lounge to everybody so what we did instead was like i i moved the the camera down so i looked at my feet where my feet should have been i was focusing on the floor and so i wouldn't look at the walls or any of the detail i didn't want to spoil that room and that that's not just a give it off give it give it away to the to the fans but it was you know also i didn't we didn't want to show our our project or our work our art to you know potential commercial projects that were able to create titanic games or things faster than us because they had a development team which they could pay um and that might not seem like a big thing to others um they might have you know this criticism criticism is going to come up in a little bit i know but um uh it was a bigger deal to us um so we we clammed up about our our our process and our in our work but we're going to be as we're going to be much more transparent as transparent as we possibly can it can be in the in the new era of thg it's a promise so what did happen with the updates and uh where is the update plan this is a big one yeah uh i i'm gonna be beating myself uh bruised and bloody with a stick um with apologies but uh we we we haven't done well uh or haven't haven't done a decent job at all with keeping our community informed with updates and progress so please once again i apologize for leaving you all in um the dark and hope this stream is the beginning of amends but the but the update plan has been so difficult because starting with what what what is a finished room um is it finished when it's a mop when it's modeled or was it finished when we put it in unreal engine our team never came up with a good method or an agreed-upon way to convey it to you guys so we so not only were you confused or we were confused and i know we deserve to be made fun of for those very colorful plans with so many different um criteria of what percentages were um done you know those those the most recent plan was as colorful as a sherlin williams paint section at a home depot uh we are working on a interactive map um for our eventual website which is going to get a facelift and a redo that will show the accurate progress and info that will be updated weekly we hope uh so stay tuned for that okay back to me over here um yes so um who uh what is the deal with uh vdr do you want to just explain slightly yeah um so vdr for people who just follow this channel titanic honor and glory uh vdv i don't know i don't know sign language i don't know what i'm doing i'm offending people vintage digital revival stands is vdr i was about to say it stands for itself but yeah um and that was the company that we eventually created to organize and control everything that the group of us was making around titanic stuff titanic projects way back when we did our very first fundraising campaign in indiegogo we taught we started the name of four funnels entertainment so you might hear that a lot um people still use that to this day there's still a facebook page which is inaccurately used for us but for funnels entertainment we eventually did um create as a subsidiary of vdr with the intents of that being the company that um investors would fund so that they didn't um own shares of vdr and control what we did with any outside projects um so they could only invest in the game but um because we are now going on a new thg only focused root um we want things to be simpler and four funnels entertainment is going to be dissolved and eaten up back into vdr and now um because of everything that's uh that because of what james mentioned in the beginning um and i want to call the any rumors out there vdr is um at the moment owned is as a sole member llc owned by me so um will we be working on britannic patronus of the mediterranean more and will there be more updates for that particular project well yeah okay so um this is a question that many people have because um it's technically a is a game that we release on steam and is technically a side project that was created by us to generate income for thg um get us experience get our get our feet wet no pun intended because the ship sank but get our feet wet into the game development world it also helped us with research into titanic as well uh but it is it was a side project and it did take some time away from thg a lot of time um and when it was released there were some um there are still some issues with it um the the biggest issue i believe that i've seen online is i might i could be wrong this is what i've just seen from all my all the postings and on our social media are like the virtual reality aspect but we will maintain the game we're planning on maintaining the game and making sure it runs smoothly however for the time being because we are going to be focusing on thg we are going to work on the titanic model um but following the completion of our virtual titanic uh we will reassess the situation with um britannic patriots of the mediterranean so please have patience with us on that yes absolutely um okay next up the uh the team misleads of the ship was eighty percent complete when it was ten percent done yes so so this this should be this should be wine in memory of um for these questions sorry i'll be i will be drinking wine as soon as we're off this stream yeah me too uh so this this this goes back to the um progress the progress plan um it's very difficult to come with come up with a certain metric and percentages of completion um you know we all just want to be able to ask and answer how much of the ship is done at a given time is it 24 25 15 80 what have you you know um you know james yesterday you you did a rehearsal for this and you were looking at images you asked you asked the question and i said i don't know i can't give it to you even yesterday so um it's it's it's tough when there's so much in game development that and especially ours because it's not just modeling we also have research and then our research ties into art direction and then there's gray boxing programming all the all the game development stuff but that being said the the reason for everything um the intention wasn't to lie or again anything malicious but it was more of our our our team's unstandardization of the process and slight on you know unprofessionalism at our side um we just didn't know how to create that number you know at the time um i came up with a ballpark number when i was putting when i was color coding those plans saying like okay i modeled these rooms i think these rooms are in the engine and then that's that number was eventually rounded up um then increased and we failed at communicating it amongst ourselves and amongst you guys who are watching this you know the the once the the the work continue on the ship like how how they should have gone up or should have gone down but i will say that going forward we have a person who has finally solved this um this this progress plan issue and that's our new technical direct technical director dominic tenzik i i won't steal this thunder totally because i don't want to ramble on too much longer because i know there's still more questions but um the pro because i don't and i also don't understand fully the process of organization yet because i know i have to be a i have to be part of it because i still modeled parts of the ship and i know a lot about titanic i guess a little bit i don't know i got stuff here about titanic but to finish the ship um and every single object on the ship in the ship part of the ship they'll be listed in a program that we all have to use online it's a data organization program and we will know the percentage done of each of those objects the uv mapping the meshes everything about it so technically we will get the percentages of each room each area of the ship and he'll be able to track the percentage of the ship but i mentioned before what's the most exciting part is we're going to have a method for updating the progress on our new website once that's put online we're just waiting for a few things but our website development manager who we've hired andy kane is still working on that and we'll let you all know when that is ready to look at so we have also been accused of misleading in our update videos about finding investors oh yeah well um when you chris we're giving the the rundown the quick run down of our our history which there will be a larger and more um more conclusive and more detailed version of eventually that we'll be putting online um there's there's a lot to go that goes into it but our goal was never to lie or misle mislead when it came to the investors search and its ultimate um ending yeah it was just another failure in community communication with the community on our part and so um i apologize for that mess um it was it was it was unfortunate again and here we are learning from the mistakes of that miscommunication and we mean we have you got you two here but um yeah you guys will be able to read a little more in detail soon that we had hi we had some high hopes about investment especially towards the end of 2019 and in the in the beginning of 2020 uh and um regrettably we even toyed and teased about it on social media we were we were that cocky in confidence i did i did this personally and um i am i am very sorry for that but uh i we're we're not able to go we're not no matter where it is we're not going to be able to go into much detail but in the last meeting things just went south for numerous reasons and then yes 2020 hit hard and even though at that right before everything happened um we had hired a team of of professionals um who had whose job it was to and had been successful at finding investors for other projects um but it just felt like it was uh the the nail in the coffin at that point so going forward which is why we're in this criticism section going forward um we're totally self-funding that's what we did before up until this point but we're going to have to go into maximum overdrive it's a struggle but we're going to as controversial as it sounds we'll rely on the store a lot more um and even more controversial perhaps we're going to once again maybe eventually once we reestablish ourselves rely on some contributions but if anyone is sincerely interested in investing after we show off all of our goodies that we're capable of i'm totally open in all ears uh yes um what matt mentioned we're gonna be posting um a much longer in in-depth look at the step-by-step history of the project and that is being compiled by uh game historian kyle hudak yeah he has been devoting his life to this uh timeline getting he's going through every message we've ever sent to each other it's pretty impressive um so uh matt i think we're on to um uh yes uh contributions in store income which you just mentioned uh goes into our wallets um or we use their we use your money to travel yes uh so i i've read this a couple times recently and it surprised me but i'm very confident i know that this this arose because we made we made a mis we made the mistake of never telling you guys how and where we were spending your contributions so of course it seemed shady especially when we were asking for more support um and then suddenly we we go off to the united kingdom or europe or the queen mary the original or the queen mary 2 for research her pleasure i went to you know i took tom and i went to the queen mary um in california meets um historians and possible investors in california and then i went on a private vacation on the queen mary 2 with friends um but um without using contribution money um but we plan to fix that going forward however i'll i'll just state it here for the record plain in fact um that's no personal gains or spendings have have been made whatsoever with the money raised uh nevertheless crew historians and other team members and outsourced parties were compromised compensated for their time and work and to back to back up my statements where we will eventually publish a a report from an independent party to prove that there were no wrongdoings and i believe i have a pie chart matt do you want me to show them the pie chart uh not yet because there's going to be there's at the end of my criticism section when i get into that very detailed um parts we can move on to the next criticism then um which is that the company so thg threatens legal action against projects to stop competition right um okay so you know there's no suing going on right now by the way everybody um that's one of the rumors that's in the in the mill um and the rumors are happening because of um our our lack of communication however so it's uh we'll take the blame for any rumors that are going on but while there has there has been have been there have been legal actions um against some commercial projects we are not looking to stifle competition via legal action um so yes sometimes we have been cheated or ripped off um and i've we've proven our case and you don't hear about you don't hear about us succeeding in in these cases because that's part of the settlements and then we're not going to go around and gloat publicly on our forums um but i i my our goal is just to try and defend and protect the team the best that we can to protect our work that's one of our our rights as humans i didn't even know that until the other day when i looked it up and it's in the united nations like human rights and as as an artist you can defend your your creations i was like oh okay uh but no um definitely not and especially now going forward will we have any compe any competitiveness with fell titanic projects and certainly not individual um fan ones like which is where we have our roots i i i'm totally in the the group that thinks that we should all be helping each other if possible um since this this this thing is huge this boat is a huge boat and this is a very large and in in massive story that we are trying to tell okay so i believe matt we might we skipped one or two of these let me just um did we um i think so well how about um um um okay we did that one sorry everybody i really wish this was like the list all right only a couple more of these um the store models are a scam ship models take too long and i'll look into which ones we skipped while you talk i don't think i don't think we skipped any because i only have two more yeah stop scaring me james james you scare me i think there's one more sorry go ahead this thing stresses me out enough as it is okay so you're doing great you're doing great oh i meant the whole project as a whole i know no i love titanic uh i do love titanic um no but um so let's let's talk about the the let's talk about the store um and and get in funding this project which is um which is fun um you probably guessed that it is not cheap to create a video game uh there's many people who need to be paid that's the biggest expense and they deserve to be paid but besides people there's hardware software a ridiculous amount of fees and taxes and other costs um and we have to have income sources unfortunately uh it's part of life uh and our income sources have been you know luckily enough youtube revenue um youtube ad revenue that is i'm sorry uh we're not taking we better not be i believe i turned it off and i hope everybody who's watching our moderators we have a bunch of them have noticed there haven't been any super chats this time around there's also our patreon which is is relatively new um in small amounts but thank you for our patreons but there's also the contributions which i turned off in november after a couple years which we're going to get to but um those are all have always been helpful um but the biggest source has been this the store um as difficult as it has been which is why this is where this criticism comes criticism comes from um but the as but if we don't keep generating more income um our sources are going to our our coffers are going to deplete basically because the expenses are going to always continue and we use this metaphor a lot we have to keep con to create this we have to continue feeding our boilers to develop the game and i didn't want to rely on contributions forever because um everybody was having issue with them because of our our lack of um transparency and openness but to to to after that let's talk about the story that's the model specifically in the store and but first shout out to um zeno silvia silva got our our marketing and um he's he's just the best commercial titanic modeler out there in the world i have to say hands down sorry once again i'm i'm promoting my team um he he the the joke that we have is that um no matter what time of the day it is zeno is is working on the titanic model so he's he's moderating the youtube um chat right now but i guarantee that he's in his his workspace at his workbench painting a titanic model yeah whatever we have a zoom call with him which is like every other day he's at his he's at his workbench and he's painting but um so i want to i want to also read these numbers carefully but we have we plan to have zeno come on the our you our main channel here in stream to talk about the process in the store because there are a lot of misconceptions um he quit his his day job his real life day job to become a full-time modeler for thg he he actually gets him and um tino those who designed the models um that are on the store are different than the models that we design for thg for the game they get a cut of the model sales um so they don't so all the sales income does not go to thg um so a lot of it goes to um the production costs the resin um the printers upkeep the paint et cetera but zeno's portion goes to you know actually support his family as well but to break down and answer the question about the criticism because a lot of people don't understand this there's been 1022 ships finished and shipped out to people around the world so far but and this does not include this these are the bigger ships bigger they're still like this they're they're impressively small this is not this the small scale hand painted pneumatics there's still 100 of those now and there's still 950 hand-painted ships in the queue menzetto makes these in batches he makes them in a batch of 92 at a time you know that's the production line is is is speedier than doing one at a time then going back and then okay painting all this starting again um uh this is this is the fastest way for him to do this now he he his quality is is amazing um because out of those ends yet yes on the websites um in the beginning when we had lower orders it did say that it would take around two to three months for a ship to be delivered and zeno has told me that he owns up to this if anyone emails him and says my ship has been longer than like six months eight months where is it um we didn't update the website like like everything else we didn't update we did an update saying that that when we had when we had a more of a backward we didn't update the website but now it states the estimated um time of delay of how long it would take a ship to be produced based on zeno's estimates um and when anybody contacts zeno when he sends out his updates um and he explains the situation based on they usually understand and that it's worth the wait for this piece of art unlike thg when someone says it's you know you can't rush art but in this case they understand it's it's worth the wait and for all the seemingly complaints about it um there have only been 21 cancellations out of 2000 orders um so those i think for the quality you get and the price that you get because they aren't that expensive for being hand-painted um it's the weights not terrible um i but zeno let zeno come on the stream and talk about it soon he's excited to do that even though you know it will just be you guys all watching him paint and then eventually watching paint dry in a tiny titanic yeah i uh me and uh you know talked about um having him on a live stream we're gonna talk about live streams in a second but um one of our live live streams we want to do is just us talking about the trumpeter model so oh yeah he's gonna be he does he does commissions for those two yes and so he's either painting up small he's painting itty-bittys or he's painting big boys so yeah absolutely um uh what where are we chris is it your turn uh yeah i think so uh this is the last this is the last one i believe um second to last and we did skip one believe it or not sorry to give you a heart attack we um well okay so the next one's a pretty big one uh the project is dead a scam will never get done we'll never finish this damn thing uh okay so we're clearly working on it right now um guys we i mean we we we planned i mean no it's not i mean yeah there's the this goes back to our times of silence um that's why people have been thinking it's a scam or uh i mean or dead you know we've we've we've had um moments where there's been absolutely no communication from the team that's that's that's why it seems like that um but going forward obviously we're working on fixing the biggest issue which is the communication so uh with i'll keep reiterating that fact with with our two community managers our our social media manager who's been on board since the uh end or the fall of 2019 matthew howell who's also moderating youtube uh i think we're going to have everything covered to let you to let the community know now that's we're not dead and we're working as hard as ever uh james you said in the beginning that it's this has been the most productive couple of months in thg's history um and it feels like it it might not necessarily be the most productive months when it comes to like actual game development generate creating rooms or models but it's it's the most productive months in getting everything streamlined ready to go um it's like the up ramp before the the production starts um so we did skip one but this is the last one promise everybody last thing yeah um and that is that we claim to know everything that one remember oh yeah i you know i kind of talked about that one in um uh in the one about uh well see the thing about the thing about that sorry the whole thing is the thg team claims to know more than everyone else and that they are that they have one hundred percent accuracy see the things that we have that we have been overly confident about that i think yeah you know i think this stems to the fact that um this relates to um not being able to handle criticism well um and also trying to to um trying to to to defend the the the team in a in a proper sense um how how do you you gotta you gotta you gotta walk that that fine line of you know um confident but not over confident but not cocky and you know sometimes it depends on the individual and i know for myself i've had moments uh on specifically on reddit where i've i thought i was getting that across and i definitely you know it was it definitely didn't look that way from a different perspective and i'll apologize for that um you know there's no way that everybody can can know it all and i and i definitely you know if it if it came off that way i'm not saying that that's that's your perspective not mine no if it came out that way i i definitely didn't intend it that way i do not want to ever be called a titanic expert i will never call myself that even though i have that on reddit because i think that's cool i didn't already even gave like little handles out to that but i'll that's the only time i'll take it because i don't think you can be uh i don't think i'll ever be a titanic expert i don't want to i don't want to know it all ever i want to keep learning about something um then if i if if i if i once if i reach that point where i learn everything about a subject i'll become bored with it um our goal is to have an authentic experience of titanic it's not going to be totally accurate there's no way to make that so um but we want to be able to back up what we um are putting on to our digital paper in a sort of way um and hopefully you know reflecting on our past mistakes um we can really show you what we've um we can really show you that in a better way with better communication again okay so um and if you know if if that was the last um yes it was criticism if there's anything else you'd like to say before you go um we're going to have matt come back we have to come back we're going to pretty soon we're in a second we're going to go into the present and then we're going to talk about the future we're going to talk about what this game is going to look like and then after that um we have some images of things that we've been working on um some some some little things spaces on the ship that uh are fun to see that i'm gonna bring matt back out to tell us what we're looking at because um it won't it won't be as boring so yes um but is there anything else you want to say before you uh yeah i just yeah um i hope that this you know this this deep dive into our both our past into the presence and all of our wrongdoings um it means a lot a lot for us to be able to get it out there to you guys i don't know why i'm holding this like that but uh because i'm nervous i'm more nervous than just being on a stream i'm nervous being it's like it's like airing our our dirty laundry but we we need to do it it's not just to do it to um to feel good about ourselves but we we know we have to do it so that we can come to terms and and move forward um you know to let you know how it brought us to um last year's last year's events into our decision um obviously we can't discuss every little detail of of of every certain matter um but we're definitely going to be as transparent as we can possibly be um if if if we miss something major um you know uh there's there's gonna be reasons for it um if it's however um going forward we're not gonna we're going to try not to discuss a lot of the things in the past we're going to have that statement that i brought up and then james talked about a little bit more in in detail it's going to be on our website and then we're going to say um you know our statement is going to be our final say in the matter of certain things um and uh hopefully that'll be where we are going forward and we can all move on from the past and if we have if we have any shortcomings i'm going uh in the future we'll definitely re-reflect and realize that we're just um it's just a short-term thing and we'll readjust again um but yeah thanks for your patience still it's it's tough to turn a big ship um you can't do it that fast that's why these last couple of months have been seemingly slow for us but you know we've adjusted our headings and um the ship the ship is slowly turning and i think our we got our what other metaphor can i throw here our barrier give us one more yeah our bearings are now um we've we've turned the corner um we've cleared we've cleared the berg oh boy yeah i don't mention it yeah we cleared the berg this time instead yes okay i better go before i yeah yeah i'll be back guys all right thanks thank you everybody again for your patience and all your support throughout the years i'll see you later all right that was matt guys we know you all want to talk about the future we want to talk about all all the fun stuff that's coming but we got to talk about the present real quick we're going to we're gonna speed through the section because we all wanna talk about the good stuff so let me um do the thing i said i was gonna do i'm gonna press this button that's gonna go like this the present yay um i hope that that talk with matt sort of answered all your questions if you have more questions that we haven't addressed you know we'll we'll go into those things but um those were the big stuff and um and so hopefully uh everything beyond this uh very well-made slide um will be positive and you guys can jump back on board here with these ideas because in the end this is something we've talked a lot about amongst the team in the end talk is cheap you know we can only um we can say we're sorry we're going to do better we're going to do better as much as we want but we have to actually do that so we know a lot of you watching are uh might still be skeptical and you you likely should be um if uh if you feel that way but we are going to spend the next few months really um implementing all this stuff that we're about to talk about and hopefully we can win you back so um let's do it uh let's uh i'm gonna bring up a little video that we made this is a little intro to um some of the old and new phases out there um here is the thg team of uh the new era of titanic honor and glory hi hi i'm kyle hudak you may remember remember from various genes i'm a producer senior model model for titanic honor and glory my primary job is a mixture of modeling elements meshes uv mapping high poly work and texturing in order to bring the work of our other modelers up to the standard set by our tech and art director i also assist with research and i always aim for a high standard of detail and accuracy if there is a detail that you won't notice you better believe i'll include it hi my name is dominic i'm the new tech and art director of titanic honor glory my responsibilities are to make sure that all assets are met with the latest technological gold standard i always have been interested into the titanic since i was a little kid and i also have been affiliated with the scc titanic panorama i'm looking forward to see you all out there and i'm excited for what's new to come good afternoon my name is derek revere i'm the lead programmer and unreal engine lead for titanic honor and glory my main responsibility is to work with the programming team but i also do a lot of coding myself we've got some very exciting stuff for you guys in the next couple months so stay tuned for that and i look forward to getting to know the community better castro is i live in florida and i am in charge of our online store me and my wife we hand paint all the 3d printed ships available there there will be a lot of good changes in our store in the near future and i hope you like it hi my name is jan kavlik i'm a 3d artist from germany and new member of the titanic honor and glory team i am responsible for creating 3d models and other assets and really looking forward to working on this wonderful project hi my name is michael berra i am three artists from germany and a new member of the titanic honor glory team i'm looking forward to joining you all on this crazy journey is [Music] hello my name is andy kane and i live in the uk i'm a brand new member of the thc team and my specific role is to develop and maintain the honor on glory website i'm very excited to share with you that we are currently working on a brand new website with a new look and feel which we will be launching in the very near future so please look out for that i'm very excited to be here and i'm really excited to be part of this amazing project hi everyone my name is matt howell i'm the social media manager for titanic honor and glory that means i'm in charge of doing the posting on facebook uh instagram twitter and tumblr i also uh moderate when we have youtube videos live videos on youtube i'm the one who does all the posting of the screenshots of the interior and exterior of the ship and other posts like that on the main pages i've been with the team for about a year and a half now and i'm excited for where we're going in the the coming future and where the game is progressing to and i hope you guys like it too and thank you for being part of it with [Music] us all right that was uh quite a video thank you dominic our technical director for uh putting that together with everybody um i understand it may have been a little bit blurry um we are gonna post that and we're gonna post lots of the sections of this um live stream um online later for you guys to watch um i uh i i know we want to get to the future stuff we all know it so let me just uh run through this uh the present section uh real quick because uh this is the boring stuff um so that's uh those are our new team members we're really excited to have all of them um me and chris will also be community managers as we've said so this means we're going to be doing videos live streams making um updates and events holding events i want to have like a model making contest and once the game is out we want to have like a photo contest like in-game photos which is something for a later stream but um we we want to be your constant contact if it's the last thing that that we do it's going to be uh keeping this game from ever having this past year happen again this this year of of darkness of no real contact with us um and that's why chris and i uh have taken on these jobs these roles um so you guys never get left in the dark again the two big things we're gonna be doing i'm gonna have a live stream every two weeks um and maybe more uh if people like them and we have enough to talk about um but uh we already have our next live stream scheduled we'll talk about that in a second um but and then we're hopefully gonna have some pre-made videos about game development and whatnot as well so you should expect a big change in in that regard and our new website looks amazing it's going to be up soon i wish we could have gotten up for today but um also on the website there's going to be bug reports um there's going to be an updated progress plan like matt said a more interactive one something more accurate to how we're actually doing there's going to be a lot of a lot of more options for you guys from our website and all of our different channels and then lastly we have new full-time modelers we have a new composer we have a german subdivision we have uh and we're hoping to have more full-time positions by the end of the year so we are growing i've never seen this team grow so much it always felt like we were just like five or six people but now it's like almost 20 people on our team helping us out which is really really cool for us to see and hopefully really cool for you to see but that's it i think we need to click this button that i've been waiting to click the future guys this is why you're probably watching we needed to cover all the stuff we've covered so far so we can get to the exciting stuff and the first big exciting thing that chris is going to tell you about is the announcement of our uh titanic honor and glory alpha to the future um so we are very excited to announce that the thc alpha is under development there's no more waiting there's no more demos but as an alpha for those who don't know uh it is a game released while under development so that fans can play along while updates and polishes are made so this is great because we will release the ship in areas bit by bit with regular updates for free uh until a sizeable portion of the ship is released uh sorry finished um so patrons and contributors will get early access to updates throughout the alpha and beyond anyone can join this more alpha details are in our next live stream two weeks from today april 24th that is right so basically this is the exact opposite of anything we ever would have done and usually in the past we've been very secretive and we don't want to show too much now we are going to have an alpha where you guys are going to be able to walk around on what we are working on um and it will be released as time goes by um in regular updates and um if you want access to these areas ahead of time you can have that and if you don't you don't need to do that either so um it's a completely different business model for us as like i said we've changed a whole lot but what is in this alpha what is what is this game even going to be um which brings me to the best slide of all the greatest slide and i you tear up looking at it and that is titanic honor and glory gameplay features this is the thing that um we have been working on so intensely for the past seven months and i personally have not spent a day not looking at this these the documents we have i have countless documents on my computer of all these things it's it's very exciting to be working on these um so they're sort of split up into two categories um uh the first one being um alpha features these things that are going to um appear in the alpha when we start releasing parts of the ship so these are initial things um so when we sat down and tried to think of what titanic honor and glory would look like in the future um and you think to yourself what uh what is the heart of honor and glory like i said we're trying to focus on the ship and what is the uh very basis of what has honor and glory always been about and that is of course a tour mode but with uh 100 explorable rms titanic this is this is the essence of what this game is there's no um there is no honor glory without this this idea this is what started it and this is what we'll finish it this is the 100 explorable titanic can't do anything without that for those of you just joining the titanic world um this is not a small feat the titanic is obviously a very very large ship but more importantly it's very undocumented yes there are some general plans blueprints and there are some photos of the ship if it wasn't for one priest and a camera we wouldn't have really any idea of what some areas of the ship look like so um it is it is quite a feat and it's it's what takes the most time is the research because we want to make it as close to accurate as possible and i don't think you guys would expect anything less from us so 100 explorable titanic feature number one feature number two is full interactivity this is something we uh get asked a lot people will just chime in on it on a platform and say will i be able to flush a toilet and yes yes you should you should be able to do everything um you should be able to open doors windows turn on and off lights open a cabinet hide in the closet there's so many uh you should be able to um mess with the cargo crane you should be able to uh turn on a a or operate a lifeboat davit turn on a winch every single thing that should move on this model should move and so you should be able to move it and so and this is a feature that we're absolutely pursuing and want to include in the alpha so every time there's a new area the interactivity is in there with it so this this next feature something you have never heard of before this is a like from scratch something that we started up since the transition began and that is a feature that we are calling log entries log entries are the means by which you take in information from around this massive beautiful titanic museum of sorts um this is uh how this would work is every room on the titanic um has a log entry attached to it and every object in it every every single facet of it has a log entry attached to it and when you say you walk into let's say the d-deck landing grand staircase d-deck first class reception you would be prompted with a log entry you click the button and you would see on screen information and hear a voiceover and through that you would see you would learn things like what's the room called square footage occupancy limits if those were around back then um but uh what class uses this room what deck are you on stuff like that and yes for that room everyone knows that room but you may walk into the ship's hospital and not know what that is um and then along with that like i said every object every table lamp um cargo crane and winch davit all these objects that you have seen in pictures you can go up to and learn of what that object is what is it called what is it used for who made it what's it made of and if it has an animation do the thing um and this will come in handy really well for um model builders like myself i would have loved to have had it when i was building this guy to go up to an object that you've seen in pictures your whole life but never knew what it was i for one had no idea that a capstan could rotate it's very obvious to me now but i didn't so these log entries will be the way that this we can turn this titanic model into an incredible the most amazing museum you've ever been to there are four types of log entries i've only talked about two of them on purpose there are two others but i'm saving that for we're going to have a live stream all about log entries i think it's going to be our third live stream so at our second live stream which is going to be in two weeks we will talk about the alpha and then perhaps the next one we'll talk more in depth about log entries and i'll tell you the other two types there's a fifth type maybe that one's farther down the road because it's a little bit more difficult but these four are really going to give you this titanic experience that you've never had before and then lastly uh wrong button lastly collectibles this is an obvious one there will be collectibles around the ship there will be things that are hidden in a scavenger hunt like way there are things that are just out and about like possessions of fictional and not fictional characters so there will be fun things to collect and one of them ties back into the log entries but again that's for another time um so these are the features that you can expect in the alpha when we release our first area of the ship these are the four things that we are going to focus on um this is to avoid getting overwhelmed by these massive features that we've done in the past and and it weighs you down let's get the ship out let's start focusing on the ship and and that's what so many people want but we do have other features planned which is why we move on to our next slide these are planned features these are things that are not in the alpha necessarily but they are further down the line we sort of need the whole ship to make some of these so but we want to let you know about them because they are things we really believe in and really think we'll make this game special um even though we're we're not technically working on them now i'm working on them now because that's my job but um let's get into them so this first one excuse me the first one guided tour doesn't even have a name yet but this is a feature for those watching who are just joining us for the first time who don't know the titanic inside and out um not everybody in the world knows where the turkish bath is um and even some of you titanic nuts if i put you on a model the titanic and i said take me to the ship's hospital would you even know where to go i wouldn't i'm going to guess edek i don't know but that's the whole point of this feature it's a tutorial of sorts something to guide you around the ship to teach you that the scotland road is just a great longitudinal mode of transportation grand staircases vertical second class stairs third class stairs these are how you get around the ship these are the areas that you can expect to find in different parts of the ship just to get people into the world of titanic because not everybody knows absolutely everything there is to know myself included so i need help getting to the hospital that's what i need the guided tour for so um this next feature um this is something i'm sure a lot of people are hopeful to see on this slide and i can confidently say it was very easy to put on this slide because this is something we are thinking about constantly we talk about it every single day and it is something that we have multiple avenues to go down to um to find a way to make this happen and i think you'll know what i mean when i say sinking mode so if you guys played britannic in the mediterranean we made britannic sync yes it was exteriors only and britannic doesn't split in half which adds a whole layer of of programming difficulty uh but we have so many different ideas floating around right now on how to give uh give you a syncing mode to give you this syncing experience and um and like i've said i said earlier the more you limit yourself the more creative you have to be and it was you know in the shower thinking gosh how do you make a ship sink without this without that you know we don't have investors anymore and that's when the ideas start coming and we have some really cool things planned um to make this happen and so um we didn't want to put anything on this list in this live stream for you guys that we weren't um very very confident in we've done that in the past just said like we want to do this and have no game plan for how we would do it we just want to tell you that we're going to do it we're not going to do that anymore sinking mode is something that i'm very excited about we're all very excited about i already have a bunch of documents about it so um uh syncing mode not alpha of course but uh further down the line this next mode similar to that um is a narrative so obviously the first thing when we reoriented this game uh the first thing to go as you guys can imagine would be the story mode that we were planning it was a hollywood level story mode and nobody was more disappointed than me i had been writing it you know it was it was it was a bummer uh to to think like i guess this is something that won't happen um and for a little while i think i at least thought um maybe just no story mode at all but what is what is a game without a story mode and and um again you think how do we be super creative and bring our fans a narrative of some sort we were able to come up with something pretty cool me matt and chris in particular chris is a spectacular not just a spectacular co-host but he's a great ideas guy he came up with honor and glory which is a great name but he's always got these great ideas and so me him and and matt have been talking a little bit about this narrative and we're really excited about it it's in its infancy but um it is something we want to bring to this game and lastly of course and more there are other features that we are working on but i i didn't feel comfortable putting them on here none of nobody on the team wanted to dive into these other features because we were working on them they are truly in their infancy we haven't been able to discuss them and discuss them with our you know with derek who's our programmer and you know are these even feasible um they're much further down the line um there's uh i'd say like three let's say that three year maybe two and a half features that we are um just sort of holding on to uh for fear of getting uh you guys too excited about them so but these features that i've mentioned explorable titanic full interactivity log entries collectibles guided tour syncing mode narrative these are things um that we are currently working on every single day and uh these planned features of course will not be alpha stuff because we can't sync a section of the you know so i hope these features are exciting to you guys we are going to have a live stream about every single one of them there will be a whole live stream devoted to each one um and i will sit here with with this this girl behind me um and we will talk about uh all these these features in depth um but hopefully uh just hearing that they exist will will uh put you at ease um so that those are the features right there um let me bring chris back in he's been perfectly quiet hey chris the sun is up oh wait you're i think you're muted are you muted sorry i forgot there's a mute button yes the sun is up and it is blinding me and i don't know how to deal with it well the lighting is much better for for me fantastic so that's good so we have now talked about the past the present and the future we have um a couple more things to talk about and we want to show you guys some images um first thing uh that i want to talk about is um it is titanic week of course i hate that when when i bring chris and i'm off center um we have uh it's titanic week it's the 109th anniversary of the sinking of the titanic of titanic not the um and uh we usually do a big uh live stream um on the anniversary we are not doing that as a team this year because this live stream took precedence it's been quite a lot of work putting this together and so we need a couple days of recovery um but i will say there are two live streams you can watch excuse me two live streams you can watch on the anniversary first one um is tom linski our our previous creative director he has a live stream um uh on his channel part-time explorer it's basically um going to be a uh a live version of this book on a sea of glass i don't know if it's backwards or not um but uh definitely check into that that's gonna be for the historians out there he has a couple historians on the stream if you're looking for something a little more laid back a little more fun and and easy breezy i'm holding a live stream with my fiance katie we do a live stream every year we go through the sinking we break it down in real time just like tom surely will be um we uh we just have a little bit of fun with it it's uh towards the end it gets very very serious of course but but it is fun katie's a stand-up comedian so she's quite funny and uh i am uh not so that's a perfect combination um so feel free to join us that's gonna be on twitch uh titanic live 21 is the twitch page join us for that if you'd like it'll be it'll be fun so that's one thing i do want to bring this image up this is um our next live stream it is going to be april 24th at uh 4 p.m i believe it might be at 2 um to be honest you guys but it's going to be on april 24th um keep an eye out for the time on twitch and youtube we're going to dive into the alpha details behind the text you can see an image of the wireless room with the skylight and you can see the funnel out of the skylight this is one of my favorite pictures ever and i found it deep in a secret collection of photos and i really wanted you guys to see it speaking of of images we have a bunch of of really cool images to show you and i want to bring matt back in matt are you still around please see where else would i go oh you're still there how is everything are you having a good uh good day so far i know it's been stressful oh no i've been totally fine guys just um i'm just chilling while i get these pictures up uh i got a haircut today for this and it was the worst haircut i ever got in my life so i had to go to get another haircut it was it was really bad i had i had a i've had a bad haircut too this is not my oh it looks great oh i appreciate you saying that it looks great and chris your hair looks great as well oh thank you everybody not to leave you out um but uh chris you look quite bright yeah it's yeah it's really a problem actually but yeah actually speaking of this is great to just mention uh chris and i are going to be the community managers and what's great is he's in australia and i am in uh the east on the east coast of the united states so there's just always going to be somebody awake to answer your emails and stuff so speak to all the upside-down people yes um i actually considered having his feet upside down as a joke like i said i wish you i'm not that funny that's uh my fiance's job okay so um to just continue this going along here because we are hitting an hour and a half which is what i kind of thought it would be um fine let's jump into these new images here shall we um so sadly the two guys uh that our two guests can't really see these images they know what they are though uh matt matt knows what we're looking at but these are pre visualizations matt could you please explain what that might mean yeah they're well they're just renders um but they're not just renders come on load i'm watching it now on my ipad um so what happens you know i i was explaining it earlier in why we can't easily just say the ship is 30 done or whatever because there has to there's a step-by-step process for our game especially in any game where you have research slash the art direction phase and then it goes into modeling it goes into the engine work and then the programming et cetera so this wonderful work which is titanic's first class smoking room is done by um gio gio castro you saw him in the video um he um i i believe he also used my first class smoking room model as a base but and because he does um he make he can beef up any sketchup he can just create he's a magician uh that's pretty much all i can just say about him he's magical so he can cr he creates he's the most talented interior modeler of the titanic that i've ever met in my entire life i'll say that um hi geo he's watching so he here has created and rendered um the first class dining of dying smoking room for titanic now this is not what it will necessarily look like in the final game because it is a render and not a in engine image for uh the game so that's that's the big difference that's why it's like a pre visualization making a render is getting built it's it's baking though it's it's the the computer program is figuring out where the lighting will go the shadows will go the reflections um how the textures will react with all those um elements so the wood will look like wood when you do it in the compute in the in the game engine you have to tell each indiv in each individual texture how to do the same exact thing but you have to be able to tell it how to do it as you're moving around this is just creating one static image and that one static image can make it um in much higher quality really so that's why um that's not the only reason why geo's image renders look fabulous but that's one of the images that's one of the reasons why his renders can look a little bit nicer than um what unreal engine can do arguably um some people may have different opinions but i think so so we use this to um be able to because geo um and he works with nikolas too to really get the capture the feel of how the ship should look so um the lighting um the atmosphere um again the t the the fabrics here the leather oh wait is this titanic yeah it is for a second i look at the tile on the floor and i was like is that red or the beige because i'm color blind and i have difficulties but this is they were able to really capture the space and we'll use that um to give to the the unreal engine team uh derek dominic whoever um to say this is what this the the room should look like in the field recreate that as best you can so that's why we call it a pre-visualization not just a render i hope that was a decent enough term i mean i just there's been some confusion about it yeah yeah um okay so this is this is the first class um smoking smoking room of course it's very it's very adventure out of time they they yeah they nailed this room for sure yeah it's funny there's fun to know what rooms they actually nailed you know so there's a lot of updates in here too so um there you got to see a little bit the reason we're gonna show these is there's some updates um there we had the first class smoke room in demo three you could just peek inside through the door yeah um there's you know we had that we had the cheat of always having the oh my god this is olympic what [Laughter] nico just told me this is olympics oh no well okay so they swapped them it's fun yeah they swapped the two ships oh so yeah right that's hot yeah okay the biggest difference between olympic and titanic were the tiles um in in in their smoke room that's why i was like wait a minute look at those tiles so you better be serious with me niko um but yeah so uh and geo likes to um we had some other images in here that were of other geo renders of like of olympic and britannic spaces and we're like we should not include this because geo just geo is geo is is olympic class yeah um he loves creating a olympic from the 30s um britannic if she survived the war and was decked out as a proper um rms passenger vessel so um that's why this is included here so cool so the base model yeah let's keep going i have an idea um i'm gonna click to this next image and please um and let's see who in the chat can guess what it is first i don't know uh a little a little game for everybody um a little game a little game so here's the next image i think this one's pretty obvious unless we're on the wrong ship here again i mean we maybe this time i know what it is that's true i'm positive okay what uh what is this room matthew um this is as soon as it clears through this is not this is not olympics this is well okay technically it could be britannics but we're going to say it's it's titanic's okay uh yes uh there's some updates to um we've we've created this room in unreal we put it in we've um temporized it that's part of our process of throwing it into the unreal engine as fast as possible just to see it and see it with all the the fancy elements that unreal provides but this is another geo render but this version of the um of the reading rainy room has some elements from a britannic sketch of the room which we took over and added to um titanic which we're going to include so that's why it could be britannic slash titanic but it's definitely not olympic cool so here's this next image is this one is my favorite in the bunch um this is a room i've always wanted to see if it is in fact the room that i believe it to be it is the room that you believe it is what room is this matthew this is a cabin on c deck that is infamous from a video game that was created in the mid to late 90s so this yes so this is cabin c73 i've always wanted to know what it actually looked like um i was like a lot of you watching probably i was the biggest adventure out of time nerd i i was obsessed with that game i still am i still play it from time to time um but to see the actual room is is pretty cool yeah we all have we these nerds right here these three of us we have copies of them chris just you can't see it because we're a whole stream with us but chris just grabbed his actual like cd hard copy version of it oh you have it with you yeah yeah yeah he's really hold on let me show it again oh yeah look at that magic muscle without version man that is uh that is crystal that is mint condition okay nerd back to back to the slides uh we're moving on from c73 now we're looking at a room with a rather familiar looking person in it no copyright infringement um please we it's just it's artistic license as we talked about earlier um yeah this is this is the same cabin that is used in a particular movie but this is the correct style so the movie this is this is cabin um b56 this is this is the cabin of a certain individual named after a flower cool um i don't want i get you know a flower a flower a ladies cabin uh you know the movie the movie uses a a different type of style just as the video game uses different type of style on um this is the correct style um they both both these cabins are actually um more or less generic fancy styles in period styles on titanic cool um and no uh rose is not canon you said her name yeah roses and i just happened to see that pop-up all right next uh next image we have another another cabin which uh the cabin these are these are still all um geo's wonderful renders and pre-visualizations and what is is magical artistic works this is cabin c86 so this is in the georgian style this bed um part of our research trip this bed still well not from titanic obviously because titanic happened to sink unfortunately but the bed from this georgian style exists to this day in liverpool at the museum at the maritime museum in liverpool so if you want to see this bed you can go and see it oh cool so we've rephotographed it we researched it um we didn't actually go in into the exhibits and open up the case and measure it but we took some photographs of it because they allow photographs so um that's that's how we um were able to get some decent um reference material and we sent it along to i remember sending geo the pictures and he was able to use it sketch it in sketchup and render appropriately so yeah we know it's cane we know that the put the wood wood on the walls is walnuts i believe and um here it is and it will it so none of this is ready to go into the engine yet um that's why it's still pre-visualization i we we looked at this image in particular james the other day and talked about the whole process you know these models still need to be optimized cleaned uv mapped um and then imported into um unreal so this is um this is this that's still a long it's still a decently long process to go um and that's what takes time right um yeah to somebody like me who doesn't model things uh this looks very far along but from what i understand there's still plenty to be done before you can walk around and look at it this next image is um is a lot to look at right sometimes um sometimes certain colors don't um don't show well in black and white photographs so you have to so until you get an artifact from the room and take away some of the paint you don't realize that it was painted in a certain way so this one for instance this is an empire cabin on c deck and um photographs of the door between this cabin and the cabin that you see um on the other side of that door the queen and room uh photographs of that cabin were sent to us from ken marshall and turns out that the original paint for the room underneath a layer of beige i believe it was what was this green paint it doesn't look like that in black and white photographs but indeed this room was green and white with the with the the mask on the side so it was it's quite a surprise some of these you know you don't expect that but yes um it's it's it's a lot to look at right there um yeah this next room much more sensible what is this it's it's all set it depends on your taste i think this one's a little plain uh we saw we we saw rose's room earlier um now it's time to see her fiance's room my fiance yes or if you really want this is bruce ismae's room yeah my fiance is better yes um cool let's keep moving through there's only a couple more this one um great room terrible bed design it looks like i would have gone with a different color leave the dutch alone i am dutch no this is a modern dutch cabin on c deck uh this is very popular um in titanic photos cool oh yeah i think i've seen it um all right these last few i'll just speed through these guys these are the um a step uh behind those even these are still in sketchup these are these are still in sketchup and they're not as pretty because now they're they're not they're not geo's work now are you looking at something that i did so um yeah of course yeah look so this is i'm sorry i'm looking at our private chat and and and um corrections so authenticity is a big thing for us and um if a cert if it's this there's a small little um fix that needs to happen but you know we might leave it alone because we don't want to go we don't want to go back and take like hours hours and days and weeks to fix like you know a radiator that's half an inch you know misaligned or something but when it came to something that's you know quite extensive and large um like the fact that you know on an iron plan of e-deck the entirety of scotland road happens to be steel versus um instead of wood we were like oh dear scotland road is completely different than what we have in in the original demo it's time to go back and switch it out and that's what we discovered so right here this is scotland road this is what scotland road we believe actually looked like it had a different paint job it had steel on both sides of the of the of the road the wooden um deck there and if you go to the next image james you'll see that there's actually uh a handrail on the outboard side of the road and and where where it's actually where the wall is still the bulkhead steel um you know there's gutters on the other side because they had to wash the deck so it makes sense that this is this is a steel on the other side there's a lot more detail um as in there's props on the other side there's electrical fuse boxes by the doors for the the crew quarters there's switches underneath the the the lights on the on the bulkheads the doors are different you know we figured this out based on not just deck plans of titanic only because there's so few of those but photographs of different ships of the era and queen mary and everything uh it had to be a totally different redesign and then we thought it was just too much for this space they're like all right uh just do a quick you know redo of this um it'd be you know and it's actually a lot cleaner because the space before were on these wooden bulkheads they had a lot of triangles and polygons now it's flat steel it's it's more efficient too so it won't be too difficult to put in okay next picture uh oh uh oh here's a here's a rough one uh this is the galley i believe is that true yeah here's this is the galley yeah the galley in the pantry so yeah um the tough space lots of equipment going in just to show you like one of the areas that were fleshed out a bit more during the last year um you know uh this is this is this is just a an area that's um i've further researched into you know you had to use a lot of ships to figure this area out um you know aquitania ships the area the the age um yeah um you know i and i and g and i use sketchup that's just the program that we um we grew up with i guess you know um we've hired this is this is one of those this is like this is a comment that i'm making based on um earlier things i talked about criticism you know we this is we've now hired professionals who work with industry standard programs um to help us out so um once we've finished certain aspects of our sketchup models we're gonna get them ready for um the proper programs to put them into unreal and then this last picture is this last one uh we're now we've gone down we've gone from d deck where uh the the culinary staff work up to where the officers would work and i think this is a little bit aged behind because i'm looking at some cabinish stuff maybe but yeah it's officer's quarters you can see there that this is just it's you know areas are getting filled out this area is still in the wreck to a point i just wanted to show you all what it looks like what's going on with it um and yeah cool just to show you some of the stuff that's been going on um 2020 you know um again these these are models that's we you know geo was always broken is his his his butt off i was working my butt off you know you know we were at home there was nothing that could be done uh but the problem was that we we just weren't showing you guys the the progress because you know we kind of were like at a like point where um we were waiting for the investor which we didn't think was coming um so we didn't know what to do we weren't all aligned um so but now that we are together with um you guys and the for the community but the community management role where we are now going to avoid that um place of no communication no updates no more dark ages right speaking of it's question time you guys we're we're gonna cut this off at no more than two hours um we know a lot of you guys are probably staying up uh for this because not everybody's in my time zone um so uh if you have to go to bed go to bed you could watch this later or stick around um i'm just gonna i have some questions that um our team has been sending to me um to try and answer um really quick just go through some of these as best that i can answer them um this is a question from uh dewanda thunda great name um thg you say 100 explorable titanic but will you be able to climb the four mass and enter the crow's nest yes so that's the sort of thing um if we're making 100 percent or as close to 100 as we can um or at least 100 actually 100 of it um climbing the crows the four masks getting in the crow's nest being able to see that view um i want to be able to go up to the to the lamp on the top or have a log entry up there for you guys to learn what is the lamp up there for why did they have lamps on the tops of uh mass so um stuff like that um because there is a uh you can go up the rat line uh and then there's a ladder against the the mass so there's there's uh there's stuff to see up there so yes absolutely um ability to ring the bell as well ooh absolutely yeah again if you sh if you would be able to interact with it in real life you should be um able to do it so um another question from twitch uh thickengamer uh will you move the whole project into unreal engine five when it comes out yes um we are looking at that it's it doesn't come out until later this year i believe but it's something we absolutely want to do um so we will definitely keep that in mind uh a question from whoa not james blocks i think that's what that says um will the alpha be free or will it come with a small fee um it will be a free alpha that's the best part about it um to to at least at the beginning it will be a free alpha and um we will add areas as you go but we we did mention a couple slides ago that patrons and contributors uh there will be um a way to um be a part of those groups so pay money to support the project and then you get early access to this alpha which is early access in itself so um so and then i saw another question on here i i'm sorry who who wrote it i don't um remember but um is this alpha going to be available for everybody yes absolutely anybody can uh play this alpha um uh what's another question we need to clarify with the alpha as well uh we mentioned today before of april 24th that's not for the release of the alpha that's for our next live stream where we go into more detail good call absolutely um yeah that's uh dev stream number two uh about the free alpha is on april 24th thank you for clarifying that i see the um that's uh that's it that is a very understandable misunderstanding because uh um it was all on one slide um uh here's a question from rms oceanic uh what section of the ship would appear in the first release of the alpha uh answer to that we will answer that on the live stream on the 24th we are going to spend the next two weeks really narrowing down what our initial release is going to be and so um we will be um telling you there that on the 24th um let's do like two more um um uh for the tour mode will we be able to explore the interior of the ship in both day and night time lighting this is a question i saw online a couple days ago and i i thought write that down because that's a great question because it is true it's it's um usually most of our models are just in daylight when you're on the inside because the light coming in looks so nice but yes absolutely you will be able um in tour mode to pick between day and night um and uh i would love to do a day and night cycle as well so you can experience the you know the sun setting and the lights turning on and all that stuff so um absolutely um let's see everybody on our team is like blowing up my chat right now trying to get in their questions because everybody has a question that they want me to answer and i'm sorry i'm trying to get through as many as i can uh let me go back to youtube um um here's a good question um i was wondering if you could tell me what platform will the game be released on um this is a great question because um this is something that we're always discussing and there is going to be a survey on probably our facebook we'll post on our facebook it'll be like a uh online survey where you can tell us um a little bit about yourself you know what your demographic is where you're from and and stuff like what platform do you play games on what platform do you want to play this game on so um you can sort of have your voice heard in that regard so we can make decisions like that down the line so keep an eye out for the thg survey and then um uh i'm seeing a lot of questions that are like will you guys stop doing this and stop doing that and it's all stuff that we talked about earlier in the stream and i understand still being concerned about it but we are absolutely um you know when people criticize our sinking for example um let us know criticize our thinking what do you know that we aren't um paying attention to because we do want this to be the best i think in the past we've been too proud to um fix things based on other people's opinions um but we do have some of the best historians on our side and have in the past and a lot of us are historians in our own right in some way um amateur historians and um so but please give us your criticism it is necessary for the game to be better and for the game to be catered to you guys because we're not focusing on those investors anymore which is great um and then uh what's uh i think that's probably good uh through through your collective knowledge would you consider yourselves to be the foremost titanic experts in the world um no we we know a lot about the titanic of course i've got a bunch of books but that's it um the the foremost experts are ones that have been to the wreck you know the ones who got to interview real survivors um those those people really really know some stuff but we have some of some of those people have helped us in the past and and um so we are not we are not um but uh we are the ones uh trying to put the effort into making a video game of it and uh we uh we'll continue to do that so um that's pretty much it you guys we have five minutes before it's two hours and i refuse to let this go two hours so matt there was one more thing you wanted to say and then we will say goodbye yeah i just wanted to wrap up again i promise i won't apologize anymore i know i've done enough of that that's what i'm known for but i just want to you know say one more time i guess i know in the past we haven't handled everything perfectly obviously but um and it led to a lot of bridges being burned possibly and as a result of this we want to restore some of the old connections and renew relationships with individuals and organizations alike um you know i want to emphasize right here that other titanic related projects are not accomplished competition or enemies we're all i said before we're all part of the greater titanic community and i fervently agree i believe that um you know the whole is is stronger than the the one or something spock-like i'm not sure um we are all in the same boat ship um and we should stick together um so if someone wishes to have our assistance we'll see how we can help out um and now that we're finally holding the stream and we're about to finish it um i'm gonna be able to contact a lot more people and many many uh seemed like a hundred but it probably wasn't but many titanic fans and historians and and people i hadn't heard from in years people are messaging me right now uh are um have been messaged me for saying they're they're saying they're giving their well wishes of support um and i couldn't contact them back and that that support was overwhelming and humbling and i just want to let you guys know and watching how grateful we are that we offer the support um once more so thank you um i want to let you all know that we're going to right after the stream um i'm going to put up on our website a little graphic based on our contributions um i gave up i was going to give a breakdown of our entire thing but we're going to run out of time and i think it's best if it's put on our website and there for you all to see and go to and be able to look at in in closer detail too great um chris do you want any any parting words as you go make breakfast after this make breakfast i think i'm going to buy breakfast i'm going to go out and eat something um soon but yeah thank you everyone so much for your support throughout the years i know that we have disappointed you to some degree but we want to be better for ourselves we want this game for ourselves more than anything else that's why we started it so we will finish what we started absolutely um i'll pull this all up for our little goodbye here um and as i said earlier talk is cheap and we really want to prove ourselves here especially myself because all i've ever done is give you a bad british accent so i'd like to prove myself and as your new creative director i hope you guys will have me and and and all our new team members because like chris just said we want this game for ourselves because we are all still titanic nuts i mean why would i go through the effort of building this guy that lights up for god's sake i mean this is we're all very much into titanic and and we want this game just like you guys do so i hope this got you guys excited um right i do want to answer one question that was sent to me um i'm sorry whoever asked it but they they said um uh will we have this alpha by the end of the year this is something that matt um promised that we would have something for you to play by the end of the year and i let's close livestream by saying yes in in 2021 this alpha will be out and you guys will be walking the decks of titanic with us and we're so excited about that and the only reason i know i can say that is because kyle was the one who sent it to me and if kyle says it's good then kyle says it's good right um so that's that's it for our our first live stream of our new era of i have to wait i have to say one more thing i forgot go ahead go ahead today is april 10th 2021. um i want to remember i want us to remember why we're all actually here today doing this absolutely yeah i i don't want that to go i don't want i don't want it to get overshadowed by our petty squabbles criticisms whatever um i know i know we're making a video game and it's i and sometimes we lose i think we get we lose sight of the real picture here um we titanic becomes this thing of pop culture and um and and it's it becomes bigger than what it you know at the end of the day it's still this the story of 2208 people who experience something um so i'm not asking for like a moment of silence or anything but still um just a quick reminder um that we're we still that there there's there's their memories is still in our are still in our hearts i guess um i still think of that as i'm creating this ship um and i know that the team still thinks about them too um and i wanted to everybody out there to remember them too um so in the titanic 109 years ago um today on april 10th all right unfortunately april 11th now depending on 11 theater so yes thank you thank you for i apologize for cutting you off but i know well said let me get that out too here here um but that's it so that's uh devstream number one um again we're gonna do a live stream in two weeks april 24th might be at four might be at two p.m not sure um where we'll talk about the alpha and then perhaps two weeks after that we will talk through the um log entries feature which is new to thg um and again this wednesday is the 14th it's the anniversary of the sinking tune into tom linsky's uh part-time explorer youtube for the honesty of glass live or um titanic live 21 on twitch where me and my fiance will be talking titanic till about 5 a.m that's as late as we stayed up last year we'll see how long i go this time um but that's it um on behalf of of kyle uh nico uh gio zeno all the o's derek dominic uh matt there's two mats now um there's uh andy we we have so many uh people on our team and everybody has been working so hard this last month for this stream um and i i hope they're um i hope everything came across well i hope you guys are excited um uh you guys wanna say goodbye goodbye no thank you thanks everybody for um your your patients support and um everything you've given us um throughout the years and i don't wanna i don't wanna go in another spiel yeah but uh i hope you have a good weekend um and stay safe out there everyone absolutely take care everybody [Music] you
